So here's what I did:
- Samsung Galaxy Note 2 with an old 2GB microSD card, bought new 32GB micro SD card as an upgrade. I wanted to transfer the 2GB microSD card's contents to the 32GB one. Didn't have a PC/lappy with me at the time.
- I created a folder called "SD" in the internal storage and moved all files from the 2GB microSD to that folder
- inserted the 32GB card, moved the contents of the "SD" folder to the 32GB card
Now here's the problem :
- after all these, some of my games no longer have their icons, and when i tap them i get a message saying "application is not installed".
What could have happened here?
Most probably there are (were) hidden files that didn't get transfered. It is best to use a PC to transfer data. I did it 2-3 times and it works 100%. Also, if you had games installed to SD card - you have to move them to PHONE and then back to new SD. just copying the SD card won't do the trick. Or use Titanium backup to back up apps. Copying SD card works for data/app data, various obb files for games etc, but not for APPS that were moved to SD card.

Hi,
So I read the instruction about formatting SD Card to run Froyo X. If I have a gps app on storage card for windows mobile, should I buy another SD card to run Android or do I need to create a partition for windows storage card for apps and another partition for Android? I have a 8gb kingston micro sd at the moment. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!!
I have iGO as well a sa bunch of WM apps installed to my SD card as well. Here is what I do, works like a charm every time, all WM6 apps still function...
Delete ANDBOOT folder on the card
I just create an empty folder on my PC called "SD"
Go to the root of the card, select all, CUT
PASTE on the pc folder called "SD"
When the move is finished, I do a full format using the SD Formatter tool:
http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3
Put the new ANDBOOT on the card
Cut/Paste the "SD" folder from the PC back to the card
I did the same, worked for me also.
Hello there..
I bought SDHC transcent class 10 16 GB..
my problem is I cant move application from internal storage to sd card..
but when I put musics and video clips to external sd card, I can play it...
anyone can help me??
There's nothing wrong with your card or tablet. Honeycomb utilizes the external SD card differently than previous versions of Android, in that the card is mounted as mnt/external_sd and the "built-in" internal memory is displayed as sdcard. Because of this, apps like App2SD won't work. I'd suggest two options:
First is to try crossix's memory swap mod, which switches the storage names so your microSD card becomes "sdcard".

You can also use the app GL to SD. It moves the large data files from games (like those from Gameloft) to the external card to free up internal memory.
Are there any apps for android for syncing files that are in the phone or sd card, to external usb or a file in the sd card?
I have got 32gb Lexar C.10 micro sd and in the 5 months of using note 2, phone corrupted sd card and i am tired of rescuing files and then copying them to formatted sd card.
I want to backup files on the go (i wish there are any incrementally backing up app), so that i can restore them back when faced with any future corruption of sd card.
I think note 2 or JB has some issues with the filesystem of micro sd's.
Any help? Thanks.
Hi
I have the Galaxy tab S 10.5 SM-T800 with stock rom
and when I delete files from EXTERNAL SD Card the space doesn't get affected by the deletion, I did that from both samsung stock file manager or from Samsung videos app of course because the device is not rooted
I've tried that for many times and still the same space (deleted files more than 2 GB)
I've tried also hooking the EXTERNAL SD Card to the PC using a card reader and removed couple of large files and the empty space increased perfectly but not from the Tab itself
I think you may be deleting stuff from the internal sdcard and not external.

Excuse me? I'm not following
I'm deleting from SD Card (The external SD Card) not the internal memory
As I stated I tried this from both the tab, and attaching the SD Card to a reader and plug into the PC
The external sd card is called something like ext_sd on the tab s. The internal storage is called sdcard.
Make sure you are deleting from the correct directory.

Hello,
i have been using adoptable storage for a while and i like it.
My adopted card however is getting close to full so i would like to switch to a larger one.
Has anyone done this? Is there anyway to transfer the data from the old to the new adopted card?
I dont have enough space on the phone memory itself to move everything back to the internal storage.
i can move pics and music to an hdd but not sure about apps and associated data that is on the card.
Thanks in advance!
You can send all files in sd card with a secondary app like zapya to computer and resend them to sd card when you adopted new sd card in your phone
Have you looked at HTC SyncManager?
I wasnt aware of these options i will look into them and report.
Thank you
Shouldn't it work if you just copy everything on your SD card to a PC, place the new SD card, format it as internal storage, copy everything back and restart?
I'm not sure if this works, but your apps are still installed on internal storage, only app data is placed on SD card.
Check settings > storage
If you tap on your internal storage, there should be some GB at apps and just a few MB on your SD card.

Except that pulling the adopted storage eviscerates the file system...
The only strategy I could fathom would be to duplicate the image onto the new SD card plugged in USB-OTG. If that were even possible, a concern would be changes during copy, making it inconsistent.
converted to adoptable storage but no data import option in the SD Card in storage
I am using a Samsung galaxy S5 and i converted my SD card to adoptable storage using adb shell process. after that there are two options showing in storage settings, internal storage and SD card.
Is it converted to Adoptable storage? If yes then why is there no option of importing data in the menu of 'SD card' storage option.
and how can i transfer from internal to SD card. or can make use of adoptable storage properly?
