T-Mobile USA Voicemail upgrade - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Okay, so T-Mobile USA "upgraded" their voicemail system yesterday. Aside from having to auto-enroll 5 times so far and create new passwords, the biggest change is that they no longer send a text message to notify of a new voicemail. On most handsets from other manufacturers, there is some kind of icon or notification when you get VM (my girlfriend's Nokia 3650 has a little icon that turns on.) I can't find anything similar on the PDA2K - nothing seems to happen when I receive a voicemail.
Has anyone else on USA T-Mobile figured out how to tell when they have a new voicemail? I've been missing my VM notifications all day and increasing the delay in returning phone calls.
Thanks!
-Robert

phone t-mob?
most probably a problem on T-Mobile's end in that the notifications aren't getting sent to your phone to tell it u have a voicemail. The Blue Angel does have a voicemail icon... I'd give them a call and they'll probably sort you out with a SIM update for it.

Voicemail Notification Functionality

First things first, before anyone says search, and refers to this thread;
I have!
I am currently using one of gospeed.racergo's home screens, which has the handy
Email:0 Text:0 Voicemail:0 coding. But I've noticed that the voice mail count is not collected through the "unreadvmail." So any voice mails I receive do not get counted here. Further more my dash does not display the reel-to-reel logo in the top bar when I have new voicemails. I could have swore that initially it did, but it doesn't seem to do so anymore. The only way I know that I have voicemails is the annoying text message that the Rogers service provides.
I am using a unlocked Tmobile Dash with the Tmo WM6 ROM. Would going to the Rogers WM6 ROM give me the reel-to-reel logo functionality? Again I *think* this used to work on my phone, and the only thing that I have really done since I got it was use application unlocker. Would "application re-locking" my phone bring back this functionality?
Hellpppp!!!
Thanks!
I have the reel to reel logo show as well as the counter working on my own Dash, and have used it with both a Tmo rom and a Rogers rom, as well as a friends Moto-Q. I am really unsure of why it is happening to you, but running the unlocker wont have any thing to do with it. Are there any other programs that have been installed? You could also revert back to a generic home screen and make sure it works by intentionally missing a call and leaving a Vm, but I suspect the lost functionality will still exist.
Are you using Tmobile, Rogers, or someone else for a provider? I can only vouch for Tmobile's (well, and Verizon but that wouldn't be pertinent) indicators so someone else may need to chime in if you are on a different system.
On all my TMo WM phones (SDA, Dash and Shadow) the VM counter isn't really a counter. Regardless of how many voicemails I have, the 'counter' always says '1' -- if I have none, it correctly shows '0'.
I've noticed on the Shadow, the Neo homescreen just says 'New Voicemail' and doesn't attempt to count voicemails.
Weirdest thing,
Today I missed a call, got the reel-to-reel and the counter went to 1 on the home screen. Then, I missed another call, the reel-to-reel stayed, but like chaz said, the counter stayed at 1. Listening to both voicemails cleared both indicators.
I have no idea why it starting working again today, I just hope it keeps working! My provider is Rogers btw.
Is there a way to make the counter actually count?
You know, I had to have a friend leave 2 voicemails to verify- the counter dont count over 1 Never missed 2 voicemails so I never knew!
The reason for this is that TMobile and Verizon don't use the same voicemail system as AT&T. I know with AT&T they now have the visual voicemail so you can visually see your different voicemails, who they're from, length, etc. And, you can skip the ones you don't want to listen to and go straight to the ones you do. Not that I'm advocating anybody switch to AT&T... I'm not much of a fan of their service... More bars in more places doesn't necessarily mean better service.
I don't see a workaround to the voicemail counter problem though. It's always just going to show whether you have voicemail (1) or no voicemail (0).

YouMail number wont save

Hi everyone, I just got a Dash cannot save the YouMail number in 'settings, phone, call options.' I change the voicemail number and everytime it just pops up with an error saying "The settings could not be saved." I tried it when I first got the Dash when it still had WM5 on it, and now I have Kavana's 6.1 and it still wont work. I have T-Mobile if that helps. Is there any other way to go about changing the voicemail number? Any help would be rock. Thanks!
do yourself a favor and drop youmail. I was a youmail lover until the past few weeks where I wouldnt get 50% of my voicemails....people were telling me it wouldnt give them an option to leave a voicemail, or when I called my wife who has youmail too, it would pass me to MY voicemail instead of hers. It has begun to be nothing but problems. I have actually switched back to my providers voicemail.
YouMail
Actually, the specifc issue appears to be the following.
T-mobile has a problem in some limited regions of the country, where they lose something called the OCN for T-Mobile to T-Mobile calls. The issue is that third-party voicemail services, like YouMail, rely on the OCN to know what number was called before the call was forwarded - if the wireless carrier screws it up, these services have to ask the caller which mailbox they were calling, which is clearly undesirable.
YouMail and other third-party voicemail services generally work well with T-mobile, except for these funky regions of the country where this funky behavior happens.
The way to fix it seems to be to call T-mobile, express the specific problem to them (when you forward the call, the service to which you forward doesn't get the right number as the OCN), and work with their customer service to try to address it - and we at YouMail are happy to work with you to try to get things fixed for your phone.

Visual Voicemail - Does AT&T Use YouMail?

I was sent a text message from YouMail today and it had a voicemail for a call that went to my phone. I've never used any YouMail service to my knowledge, so that got me thinking...
Does YouMail power AT&T Visual Voicemail service for the Windows Phones?
I only got a couple texts from 111 area code when I was set up. Nothing from Youmail.
I do not have any other att services, so I don't know if that may be tied to something else.
I would be leery personally.
(disclaimer: I work for YouMail)
It'd be great exposure for us if we did power AT&T voicemail, but alas, we don't.
For the txt, was it for the voicemail you just left someone, or the voicemail someone just left you? There's a feature our users can enable (Voicemail Receipts) that'll send a txt to their callers notifying them their voicemail was received.
Our business users like this to get back to their clients faster, and our regular users like it to let their friends know things like "yes, I got your voicemail, so don't call me another 5 times like you usually do"
My brother has a Verizon Phone with VVM, maybe he is using YouMail and did that reply thing. I can post more details once I'm home.
Thanks for the help guys, just wasn't sure if it was something I should worry about.

[Q] Verizon Note 4 on AT&T problems with Voicemail Notifications

Hi all, I've been asking around on AC forums and haven't got an answer yet, but going to see if tomorrow I can get to an ATT store for tech help. No help on the phone at all, just 3 different Tech reps going over the same thing again and again, with no result. Tried third party apps Google Voice and Youmail, can't even get the access codes to go through. The phone seems to be having errors, because it's looking for the Verizon Voicemail and even though I was able to set speed dial #2 for dialing ATT's Voicemail service, all I get is Missed Call notifications. Not every missed call leaves a voicemail, so would like some sort of Notification to alert me to my voicemails. Need this feature a lot. When I dial the access codes or even try changing to the ATT voicemail their Way with Holding down "1" , all i get is Call can't be completed and an error code. Also a message at the top of keypad screen saying No Sim, Sim Error. To me it seems like it's trying to dial the Verizon number, and it can't because of being on ATT. Has anyone had this problem?
Does anybody know a workaround. I was able to get google voice forwarded to my cell phone number, but doesn't still give a notification. I do get emails sent, even though send a text is clicked on Google Voicemail. Also spent time with their tech support with no help there. Notifications is Set and I have an alert for it on the Phone's Voicemail setting, so that's not working either. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
You can set att voicemail to speed dial 1. I don't know the number. I just downloaded att visual voicemail app and got it to work. In order to set voicemail you need to go to settings>aplications>call>voicemail settings. Then input the number you're trying to use. It will save it as speed dial #1

Missing VM notifications - 3 XL ?

Hello - I've been to Sprint and they referred me to their "pro" tech support phones and I was then told a ticket would be submitted and sent up the chain. No one can help me with my missing voice mail notifications. I'm stumped and seems others are as well. I wasn't even seeing the missed calls icon, but now I do. I Realized since I had bought my phone (Cyber Monday - then it took two weeks to receive), I hadn't set up my voice mail message. But then i thought, hold on, it's the same carrier and phone number.......but I just did that yesterday. I manually called my VM, and there were many missing since early Feb.
Spring had me click on several things and sent some kind of update to my phone, but I still don't see any kind of notification icon indicating a voice message waiting for me.
I do not and have never used visual VM.
Can anyone shed some light on this or where can I go to get this rectified? is there a Google phone tech # to call?
Thank you,
Kristy
