freezing - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

m2000 keeps freezing and stays frozen till i reset it, can some one help?

Can you be a bit more specific? How often does it freeze?
I used to have to do a soft reset 3 or 4 times a day with my XDA IIs due to lock-ups until I did as I explained in THIS post. Now hasn't locked up since.
Not sure if there is something similar with the m2000

mda3 freezing

Every couple of days my mda3 freezes. I thought at first it was only happening whilst using tom tom nav 3 but have now found it just happens at random times. The problem is that when it does freeze the only thing i can do is a soft reset. However after I do this the pda totally resets and everthing on it is gone(apart from the pre-installed applications etc). Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

XDA Orbit Freezes on Reset

Hi all,
I recently received an O2 XDA Orbit. The Orbit works fine, except that sometimes on doing a soft reset it will hang at the green "Windows Mobile 5.0" welcome screen.
I have left it for periods of time in excess of 30 minutes, and eventually the XDA becomes completely unresponsive (backlight doesn't come on when pressing buttons etc). On doing a consecutive reset, it does exactly the same thing. The only way to resolve it is to do a complete hard reset.
This initially happened when using Sprite Backup. Before doing a backup the program resets the device, and this exact same thing happened. I thought it would be to do with the software, however i have not installed Sprite since but i am getting the same symptoms.
A relative of mine got an Orbit at the same time and hers is having the same problems, yet another relative received one a few months before and his is fine.
I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem, or if anyone can suggest a remedy for it?
I got my orbit too recently but it did not freeze at startup but a white screen flashed up for a few secs. I did a hard reset and then before the o2 extras get installed - a\3 sec countdown will appear on the screen do a quick softreset - stylus in the soft reset hole.
I reckon that will solve your problem as its prob due to the o2 extras.

Was it plugged in when it hung?
It happens both when it is plugged in to my laptop, and when it isn't connected to anything at all.

XDA Orbit frozen when restarted

Hi there, few weeks ago I start to exprience prolems with my Orbit on WM5,like not switching on(so i had to remove the battery and put it back again)when u do something like call or whatever it used to froze.
So I updated to WM6(the official from O2 web site)the problems continued...but this time not always.
Finally I installed the "Artemis Touch 3.01 full" using the cid lock and everything, well that problems stop for a while but now suddenly it reset automatically then stops on the HTC logo.
I tryied to do hard-soft reset using the button but anything...
Any idea of what it can be?the pda is in mint condition and never felt the floor
Thanks.

XDA Orbit keeps crashing

Hi, I have a problem with my XDA Orbit. It works fine for some period of time and then starts hanging up. Usually before the phone hangs, the batery status on the today screen dissapears. I have tried hard reset and different ROM instalation. After a new ROM is installed it works fine for a day or two and then starts hanging. After a soft reset works for 1-2 hours. Sometimes needs several soft recets to start. Any ideas? I was suspecting a faulty phone, but after a ROM update it works so fine!!!
P.S. I have tested several ROMs but never tried to go back to the original one.
Hi
How much memory do you have before the phone crashes.
Are you changing any of the advanced settings for the file system and glyph caches. Both of these will use up alot of memory and would causes phone chrashes similar to what you have.
have you tried Toms new oops Black v1.0 on a 4mb page pool. This alone would give you a little over 1/2 memory free and then in the advanced settings making sure that the caches are set to file as 4mb and glyph to either 16 or 32k
Cheers Dave

i found that the original rom had issue with o2's today plugin
soon as i disabled it the freezing and error messages stopped
I had the same problem with my origonal XDA, I returned it to O2 and they eventually gave me a new one, I think i killed the old one from over use haha
i had the same problems, my phone died today.
having the same problems changed rom loads of time but it will work for a while the the phone stops working followed by a white screen. i think my babe might bedead
Unfortunatelly it seems to be a hardware problem. I have tried all software reccomendations. Nothing works for more than a few hours. Then crashes again.

I thought the same...take the bugger back to where you got it from and get it replaced for a new one!
O2 did have two versions of this device, i only just noticed this but my first Orbit had a white tracker ball that glowed blue, about 3 months later i dropped it in a bath and got it replaced, only this one had a jet back tracker ball, i dont have version numbers or anything but it has changed at least once on the hardware side
you think battery status blew your processor/mainboard? you can't disable batterystatus? or put it back to original speed: 201 mhz?
what speed were you running? i'm running 247 mhz constantly.
good luck.
Orbit problems
Sounds like it could be your motherboard. I had a similar problem with my un-modded orbit where it would hang and stick sometimes as receiving a call and would constantly vibrate until I took the battery out as I couldnt turn it off it eventually died O2 repaired it under warranty. Sorry this post is a while after yours but hope its helpfull.
O2 hanging with white screen
Has any solution came up within last few days for 'O2 hanging with white screen' problem.
My phone recently started behaving like this.
Please help as phone is out of warranty now and cant claim the new set or something like that.

Power Problem on O2 Orbit

Hi,
I Have a problem with my O2 orbit. The power but will stop responding when the device is locked in standby (power button pressed after locked), the lights on the top of the orbit will continue flashing but it wont turn back on.
I thought it was a curropt OS so i reflashed the original wm5 back onto the orbit and it seemed ok, so I then flashed the o2 release of wm6 onto it, and then started installing all my programs. Soon after this i locked it and put it into standby, about 20mins later i couldn't switch it back on. Thinking it may be one of my progrmas that has caused this I hard resetes but same thing happened again!
This is not the first time this has happened to me, 4 months after i first got the orbit (about this time last year) the same thing happened and O2 replaced it. Then in easter it happened again, O2 sent it off for repair and it came back apparently fixed. But here we are 8 months later with the same problem.
Has anybody else experienced this? Does anyone know a solution? Is it a problem with the software? Or maybe the firmware? Or is it a hardware problem and I am screwed?
Thanks in advanced if anyone can help!
Futher Developments
I have been experimenting on different roms with the problem, i loaded up Carty's Fastest WM6.1 rom, and the orbit worked. I slowly reinstalled the programs i had installed. The program seemed to work, then when S2U2 was installed it seemed to die again.
I previously flashed back to WM5 and then reupgraded back to WM6 and only installed the SDHC driver an hour later. Before this the device seemed ok, but then sometime after (not sure as it was in my pocket) it died again.
So I am unsure if it is a problem with hardware or if it is the S2U2 causing it, or the SDHC? or both?
Has anyone had any of these problems? I'd really like some help, I would hate to have to keep using my stone age nokia!
I GIVE UP!!!
Ok, the final verdict is that it must be a hardware issue. I have tried just running normal roms, and i get the same problems when no software is installed.
When i return home after new years i shall take into o2 and hope they can either fix or replace it for the 3rd time. Im still shocked that this has happened 3 times to me and it seems to of never happened to anyone else on this site, strange!
Oh well, it could be worse! Thanks, though no-one really helped, thanks just for the existence of such a brilliant site!!!!
