Different ROMs on variations - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Apologies if this has been asked before, but if I were to buy the SPV M2000 and o2 later released a ROM update for the XDA2s including BlackBerry support (which I'm really after) would I be able to flash the SPV M2000 with this o2 ROM?
Thanks!

Anyone?

The simple answer is no,
the more complex answer is: no.
Before you use the O2 updater, you need to have the O2 ROMs installed on your M2000. Not really worth it in my opinion.
I wish that the CAB files for applications and customizations were available , wiping and installing isn't my thing. Love to experiment, but I am deathly afraid of bricking my phone

Hmm. Bummer. Thanks.
Is there any way around this?

well, if the apps you want reside in extended ROM, then the cabs cab be extracted (there are already extended ROM cabs on the FTP). If something is in ROM, then I dont know

upgrading orange spv m2000 to o2 firmware to get blackberry
it can be done
but i have not been to complete it
you do need the service as well (two downloads)

M1000 ROM

I'm trying to upgrade my o2 XDA II to an M1000 ROM because I want to se eif it's any better than the O2 one,
Does anyone know where I can get it from? I've searched the forum for hours and have only managed to find a few zip files with the contents of the extended ROM in them.
The differences between operators is what is supplied in the Extended ROM. For example, version 1.72 of the OS is the same on all devices as is version 1.17 of Radio - Unless, of course they are in a different language.
The Extended ROM allows operators to add their own customizations, additional applications and, in some cases, their own fixes.
Hello again,
Hello there, I was under the impression that in the O2 ROM, changes have been made to some of the operating system dll files that control handsfree.
I have a problem getting mp3 audio out of the device when it is in car kit mode and from research on the site, i-Mate and Orange phone owners don't have this problem.
One suggestion was that the handsfree dll had been changed and so I was trying to get a copy of the Orange (UK) Rom as packaged by Orange. (I assume that they do an upgrade file in a similar way to O2.)
I have a copy of the custom 1.72 Orange ROM that ninjadonkey created. It's been pre configured to Orange UK, and its unofficial as Orange are useless at providing decent upgrades! It will be exactly the same as the new O2 upgrade without all the cool extra software (Fonix etc...) that you get from o2 so you're probably best off with what you've got mate!
Ok,
I notice that you have Tom Tom on your device, does that mean you have an in-car kit with it?
If so, can you hear Tom Tom messages through the Kit or does the device insist on playing through device speaker only?
Also, can anyone advise me on how to customise the Windows install in ROM so that the folders are set up as I like them (As with the XDA-Developers SER).
Cheers again.
No, unfortunately TomTom only comes through the device speaker.
grrrrrr! Bloody fiddlers developing in problems!

Can a copy of the custom 1.72 Orange ROM be downloaded from anywhere?
Perhaps it will help with some of the problems I am having with my M1000.
Thanks.
Here you go...
Enjoy at your own risk - works great for me though. This is an unofficial ROM customised for Orange UK by ninjadonkey. You will have issues with country code errors if you choose to upgrade again unless you follow the instructions in dcs's post on country code errors.

Best upgrade path from XDA IIs O2 to Orange M2000 ROMs?

Lo folks, first time poster here...just got me an XDA IIs O2 second hand but my sim is Orange, so i need to unlock then change ROMs to Orange.
Have been reading posts here and on wiki, so far i know i need to first download and run itsme's all-in-one unlocker right?
The next step is where i need advice. What are the most recommended rom packs for me to use? doesnt have to be the latest beta roms, just something to start me up down the orange m2000 route. If you guys name the files i need i'll take it from there and get em from the ftp.
I'm also confused by the wording of the rom names in ftp...should i be using the "upgrade" rom files? I'm trying to wipe all O2 stuff and replace with Orange.
Many thx in advance

Vodafone V1640 UK - ROM Updates

Having already used the O2 XDA, O2 XDAII and the O2 XDAIIs I have been spoilt by O2's ROM updates via their own website.
The problem I have is that by changing to Vodafone I now have no facilities via the Vodafone website to do the same. How do you update your ROM if you have a Vodafone V1640?
Would appreciate your comments

If you love O2, you can flash the O2 ROM onto your Vodafone Device without problems.
Just use the search button on how this is done.
Thank you. I am a little concerned that the O2 ROM will erase my Vodafone settings as well as conflict with Vodafone protocols. I understand that the ROMs will have the same Microsoft Mobile 5 updates but also embedded are the phone company's unique settings and addional programs.
Do you know whether Vodafone issue ROM updates and if so how do you obtain them?
Thank you for your help and assistance
Why do you want to change the rom, (is there problems with the vodafone Rom) and what other programs are on the Vodafone Rom that you would loose.
As for settings you can enter all settings anyway into any rom as far as I know.
There is nothing wrong with the current ROM. I just want to stay up to date. New ROMs normally (and I say this tongue in cheek) have improved facilities.
The O2 site does not allow my V1640 (or in the O2 case XDA Exec) to be updated by their ROM as the IMEI does not tally up as being an O2 valid product.
I guess it's back to the drawing board for my quest.
just add the number 3 right before the .html and even if u dont have a correct imei, you can access the site of O2
Thank you. I will give that a try.
Will it erase all my Vodafone settings?
All Hard Resets / Full ROM Upgrades erase everything. I believe some roms have CAB files with operator settings. Download the Imate ROM, Install, then look for the VODAFONE .CAB file in the extended ROM, copy it to PC, then Upgrade to O2 ROM then run the CAB file that you copied to the PC

Bepe's WWE WM6 on Orbit

I've read through the WWE thread and still haven't managed to find people's experiences with this ROM and their UK Orbit's.
Can people please post any issues, and more importantly if I'll brick my Orbit (as from the shop so unsure whether CID locked / unlocked) if I follow the steps in the original thread?
Thanks.
I had no luck. I'm waiting for WM6 ROM from O2 UK to get the phone working again as I can still access the bootloader.
Same for me. Followed all the steps, but still my phone bricked. Mine was CID locked, but because there were several succesful upgrades on CID locked devices I also tried it. I'm also still able to enter bootlloader, so just have to wait for retail WM6 ( have no RUU signed update to restore my device )
I moved from a Orbit with a HTC P3300 Rom (CID Unlocked) to a WM6 Bebe Rom at the first attempt.
It's so much quicker than the WM5 Rom. It's a lot more stable.
If you want me to post the steps and a Apps I've tested I'll do so tomorrow.
I couldn't get Bepe's to load with the boot loader, but the next part with the windows.nb file worked..........
Sort of, I think the bluetooth is not working properly as I can't create a port to allow me to sync with my pc. Apart from that it is working fine. (Touch wood)
doesn't seem worth the risk...
sounds to me like it isn't worth trying at the moment then! shame cause i want to get wm6 running but would rather not have a bricked device ... and the odds look high!
come on o2... where's our official rom?
I've just upgraded my O2 Orbit and it worked fine. CID unlocked it with IMEI-Check and then followed Bepe's instructions.
mmmm... fair enough but i just don't wanna shell out $20 to get a cracked rom...
If I am not mistaken is it not £20 as opposed to dollars I would pay a tenner but like you I will wait for £20
Does anyone know if HTC will require an actual P3300 IMEI in order to download the WM6 update when and if they release it?

probably, they will require you to give this to prove you have a HTC branded device. TBH they shoudl provide a ROMforAll no matter what provider you have you should be able to upgrade to a clean manufacture rom.
for those who have O2-Orbit UK and can access only bootloader, did U try to flash german WM6? just run file downloaded from german o2 (without any hexedits etc. just run xdaorbit-windows-update.exe). I think it should work, because CID lock is not to lang version, but for operator (02_01) and both UK and DE Orbit are ARTE2000. Worth a try. If it works let it boot to calibration screen plug usb cable and reflash using bepe's ROM. Let us know. I'm not sure if it'll work, I'm CIDunlocked.

Do you think the same would apply if you Hex edited ARTE10000 to ARTE2000? Sily question, I know, but is that the only level of security that actually looks for model ID?
in o2 ger image its already ARTE***** so u dont need to change anything (it means it shoul work for arte100,110,1000,200 models maybe 300 as well - htc love) But this is looking only for ModelID, in ROmUpdate Util it checks somehow for ModelVendor/Operator - addr:x0003BA6C - password BsaD5SeoA
I also "BRICKED" my Orbit. I am also the impatient type. Why wait for O2 to release a ROM image? I have spoken with O2 directly. My friend even works for their technical division. As far as I have been able to find out, from friends and his friends at O2, there is NO O2-UK WM6 in the pipeline at the moment. Not enough users apparently. When I found out this I put my Orbit into O2 shop for repair. It was flashed under warranty as a software fault. I have since CID-unlocked it and flashed to WM6.
Absolutely amazing. WM5 to WM6 is night and day. So much faster and a lot nicer looking too.

My experience: O2 Orbit bought in CZ. My way was: CID unlock -> try-and-brick (...) -> German original O2 WM6 ROM (with bootloader) -> Arte WM6 from bepe.
I am very happy now (extremly stable!) and at this moment I do not plan even upgrade to a new ROM.
Btw solved the issue with localization (keyboard only - Resco works perfectly) and external keyboard support for my beloved iGo Sierra bluetooth keyboard: AE Keyboard mapping SW solved my needs
MY experiences
Being a corporate O2 customer, when I bricked my Orbit they sent me a new one and said I could do what I wanted with the old one.. it's still a brick, having tried every suggestion on this forum!!!
MY new one, however, is running Bepe's WM6, having run the USPL first.
I tried Black&Blue, but found it drained the battery too quickly, and I reall ydon't need all the extras it comes with. I've got Bepe's WM6 running brillianlty - all I add is a cracked version of TomTom 6.02, which runs perfectly, BatteryStatus purely for a power display, no overclocking needed, and TodayAgenda for improved calendar on Today.
I use push mail to connect to my office exchange server, and have all my personal mail ending up at fastmail.net, where I connect to using IMAP - deleting from the phone deletes properly on the IMAP server now, unlike on WM5, so you really can have a synchronised mailbox usin IMAP and a free account at Fastmail.net...
I also have JetwareMobile installed to enable me to use my Siemens HKW600 Car kit (£40 on ebay, superb!), and I have some Sony DR-BT30Q bluetooth headphones which work perfectly...
I have a CID LOCKED UK o2 Orbit. I ran the USPL program by Prof and then Bepe's WWE ROM.
worked fine and WM6 is great!

Yes, but that doesn't work if you've already bricked your Orbit
Does anyone happen to have a WM5 ROM to restore to if the WM6 goes horribly tits up - I'm not overly looking forward to the idea of not having the pride of the mobile fleet working... the humiliation!
