is there a Radio receiver/fm & TV/tuner or sat receiver - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Hello,
is there any SD card that functions as TV tuner & FM receiver or sat receiver or maybe a Bluetuth device like a GPS ????
Thanks for your reply in advance... :?: :?:

I've seen one that works on CF ( compact flash ), so that would involve a backpack aswell. It 's a TV tuner btw and it costs about £80. Can't remember where I saw it, but if you interested I'm sure I'd be able to find it again.

Car Mount for Exec held open with keyboard and charging

I would ideally like a car mount that holds the exec with it in landscape mode opened up so the keyboard could be used and if not, at least holding it in landscape mode. In both cases it would need to allow it to be charged so I can use it with bluetooth GPS system.
Anyone have any recommendations?
Cheers,
Roger
according to good reliable source, Brodit are issuing a cradle in the next few weeks, both active and passive.
Tomtom has run in Landscape mode for the past 2 versions Tomtom USA 2004 ( aka 4.4 ) and TomTom 5.
Check in Settings, last page, smiley face. Its indepandent of the current OS setting.

yeah thanks for that, just must be an issue with 5.1 on the exec, it runs then looses itself on occaisons, we need the update from tomtom for WM5 I guess......
Ta
The thing I was interested in in 5.1 was the increased support for GPS devices so Im running 5.0 with the 5.1 GPS cab file. The program runs fine but ive yet to pair it to my BT Gps reciever as its currently 4000 miles away!
Ill wait for Tomtom 5.WM5 to upgrade further as its working for me ( so far )

02XDA2S cradle/wired TomTom Probs

Hi, new member so be gentle...
I've just got my XDA2S and installed tomtom, tried to connect it through a cradle bought from pdamods which clearly states tomtom on it, also a wired receiver, unfortunately the tomtom cant see the receiver. Am I doing something wrong here?
The receiver works ok as I have a HP4150 with tomtom on that recognises it and can do its usual nav stuff without any issues.
Tips/Help much appreciated.

Whether it is possible in Artemis to switch on TMC function?

Whether it is possible in Artemis to switch on TMC function? In it in fact is FM a tuner with RDS, and TMC the information is transferred through RDS.
For as far as I know, the P3300 does not have TMC. Unfortunately
You cannot use the inbuilt radio for TMC - it simply cannot perform this function, you can get TMC via GPRS and subscription to the service.
I did read some pre device release information that claimed the P3300 could do TMC via its internal radio, but I think the article was typical media hype (or more accuratly they didn't know what they were talking about).
The inbuilt radio will support RDS (which on the Arte gives basic channel names) - that is about the limit, if you want traffic information look at your options for GPRS connectivity and prices - Mike
RDS data IS accesible from applications - look at FM Radio application.
It means, that other application can access RDS data too - including TMC information.
Would you like to enlighten us how you get RDC TMC information from the in built Radio on the device? - Mike
What XCRIME means that similar Pdas with built in gps inc TMC works.
TMC (Traffic Message Channel) provides a anticipatory route optimization. TMC is a special application of the FM Radio Data System (RDS), constantly sending up-to-the-minute traffic information and weather data, that are being received by the TMC receiver. The navigation systems ( like Navigon MN5 )matches these data with your route within seconds. If there is congestion ahead, it automatically offers you an alternative route.( source the Navigon site)....
At the moment the Eten 500 & 500 with built in GPS & tmc module + supports tmc using the Destinator ot Route 66 navigation systems ( both support Royaltek–Protocol ) using the headphone as an antenna to recieve the tmc broadcasts.Only drawback is that you can only hear sound/ instructions via the head phone in this instance...
I expect that the Artemis will have an update to allow us to use this function.
Hello,
maybe it will work with one of those TMC adapters from GNS (e.g. GNS TrafficBox Universal maybe)?

Anyone tried those?

Hi, and welcome...
The issue in this thread is how we can use the inbuilt FM RDS tuner on the P3300 to receive TMC, and use the information in for example Tomtom or some other navigation application.

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I understand the issue of this thread, I just thought it could be a workaround to get TMC to work until someone find a solution or a patch is released to use the internal radio for TMC.
I don't have one of those myself, just interested if someone already tested them with the Orbit/Artemis? Ok, maybe I will open a new thread on this later...
Regards
You can forget TMC in combination with TomTom. If I remember correctly TomTom uses it's own TMC network or something like that. In order to get the traffic information on your TomTom you need to use the service TomTom is offering, ofcourse they are going to let you pay for that service.
Mobile Navigator uses the normal TMC which comes with the standard RDS.
But for now it's not even possible to get that working. I personally doubt it will come availible, because if it would I think HTC had already mentioned it somehow.
TomTom use iTIS holdings for their traffic service, this information is broadcast over the Classic FM network within the UK (99.9 to 101.9FM - dependent upon location). Classic FM coverage isn't too good, low signal strength etc, couple that fact with the poor quality aerial supplied as part of the headphones with the Artemis and TMC (if it were possible) would simply never work IMHO - Mike
Isn´t there somebody with a P3300 who can contact HTC in order to ask whether RDS EON/TMC will come availible in the future?
@Bart1981: Why do you ask, if anybody could ask HTC?
Perhaps, YOU can ask?!

Lol I tried but the mail returned to me with the awsner: Don't know what to do Seemed they missed some sort of number.
You can send an e-mail throughout the Support section, but then you need to fill in an IMEI number of your P3300, and guess what, I don't have a P3300
So that's the reason why I asked if somebody else could ask it for me. But if you have the right e-mail adres for me, I'll be happy to ask it for everybody on this forum
TMC on P3300 way to activate (worked with my Eten G500)
Hi,
The TMC function works with Route 66 Navigate 7 and some other soft.
If you really want TMC and don't want to pay for it, don't use tomtom, it's as simple as that, it's only a paid gprs connection.
Route 66 is as good as tomtom (only street selection is not so user friendly) and it has a free TMC function.
Just plug in the earphones (=tmc antenna built in!) otherwise it won't work. Scan the FM radio for the RDS posts and normally you get some texts after a while about traffic jams, accidents, .... interesting!
It worked with my Eten G500, still have to test it on the P3300, but this is the way of working. If it doesn't work, you probably need the newest firmware upgrade, found on the ftp of xda developpers.
If you don't want to use the earphones as antenna, you can get a 'wurfel' antenna on ebay from Germany, from 3.5mm jack to small antenna. I hope they are developping a carcharger with TMC antenna, like you can find allready on ebay from other brands like garmin, though it's expensive, about €70
Cheers,
Innovator
I use Route 66 on my unit but I have only ever obtained TMC via GPRS are you sure yours is actually using the radio? - try turning off the phone and see if it still receives data - Mike

Pairing htc3300 and Mercedes bluetooth car kit SAP

Hello friends!
I searched in the whole Artemis forum about the pairing between htc3300 and MB bluetooth car kit SAP V2 but it seems there isn´t a fix to this problem.
Anybody knows if there is solution to this problem (new rom, patch, software, etc)?
Thakyou in advance and sorry for my bad english
Best regards
Nope, I am afraid there is no solution for this. I had the very same problem and learned the hard way that htc3300 doesn't allow SIM access, so you need to get the handsfree bluetooth unit from Mercedes (ebay search "Mercedes bluetooth hfp" shows you the prices). With this unit, your htc operates as sender and receiver, you can't use your Mercedes phone antenna. That's the downside, but the upside is that you can use your htc as navigation system during bluetooth connection in the car (which you couldn't if SAP had taken control over the device)
