Storage Card Problems - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

Is any one having any problems with their storage card ?
Mine works fine most of the time but on several occasions now I have noticed that it has disappeared from the system as if there is no card in the slot.
I have tried removing the card and reinserting it, inserting a different card etc but nothing works.
The only way to get the card to work again is to reset.
Curiously on the last couple of occasions I noticed that this coincided with the Bluetooth stopping responding. If the Bluetooth is on the Bluetooth Manager and Bluetooth Seetings apps will not start. If the Bluetooth is off then you can't start it and you get the insufficient driver memory error.
Could there be driver problems with the storage card as well ?

It is you MMC/SD card. Try a Kingston or Pretec card. You will find out that it will work. I had problems of the same nature and that was the fix.
Mike

On xda 2, I have had message that there is not enough power for memory card when the battery is getting low.

I do have a Kingston and am seeing this too.

I have a number of cards.
The one that lives in my M2000 most of the time is a Transcend 512 MB.
I also have cards from Lexar, Integral and an unbranded one that came free with my M2000.
Switching to these cards does not solve the problem.

Viking 512MB Storage Card
I have exactly the problems you describe with a Viking 512MB card in an XDA II, IIs and now a IIi whereas a Kingston 256Mb Hi-Speed card shows no such problems - though the Kingston always worked fine in my XDA (1)

Well bottom line is the XDA IIs is the biggest piece of crap known to mankind. I had a XDA II working with all my cards but when I bought an XDA IIs "bam" problems. Its picky and only supports a few cards. So there is the story. My suggestion is to soak it in gas and light it on fire. That should fix it for good.

Are 2gb SD cards compatible with BlueAngel?

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of upgrading my 512mb SD card to 2gb, but I'm not certain that the phone (Qtek 9090) will be able to work with such a large card.
Does anyone here have a 2gb card working? Any brands/models that are known to work or fail?
Thanks in advance for your help.
2gb SDCard...
Hi!
I'm currently using a 2gb SanDisk SD Card, everything works great. Oddly enough, I cannot find a card reader to connect to my PC that can read them!?!? I'm still using 2003SE and transfer movies and MP3's to the phone by using the painful multi-hour process of Exploring via ActiveSync. Uggh! This is fixed in ActiveSync 4.1 but ONLY if you are running WM5... Just having 2003SE and 4.1 will still be totally laggy for file copy.
Enjoy!
2gb SDCard...
Hi there, I also have a 2Gb Sandisk card in my XDAIIs, I also have a card reader which I purchased from PC World for £10.
Works a treat!!

Hi! Do you have a brand name or model number of the card reader you mentioned so I can search for it on the Internet? So far I've purchased 2 different readers and neither can speak "2gb" The one I can use for 1gb cards but not 2gb cards is Belkin F5U248 rev.2, so I know that one wont work!
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know what speed the BA supports for its SD cards?
The transfer speed is limited by the SD card type
The transfer speed should be contained within the card specification sheet
As I understand it, the maximum transfer speed is 22.5MB per second
This is for a 133X SD card, so compare accordingly
thanks for the reply. I just wanted to make sure that there wasnt a limit on the SDIO bus on the BA.
I'm planning to buy a 2gb Sandisk, but i'm not too sure whether the ultra version will work, as the compatibility list on their website only shows the standard. So i might just get the standard one to be on the safe side.
I currently use 4Gb SD card! I had only hard time finding flash card reader for my PC, which can read such a big card
I believe PPC devices has no problem with big SD cards. At least my Mio 168 PPC with GPS (PPC 2003) understand 4G card too.
But I do not believe flash manufacturers X rating. I NEVER seen real speed more than 3 Mb/s on any type of device. My card have rating x133 (22.5Mb/s). And I have no idea on what device and how did they measure that speed?
From the 2g->4gb reports it sounds like sd card size is not so much an issue for the BA, more for the SD->USB adaptor.
I have the same awful USB activesync file transfer rates reported on this thread, despite running WM5, so it sounds like my current adaptor might need upgrading.
Anyway, thanks for helping out, and I now have a 2gb 133x SD on order for next week ;-)
The typical transfer rate is 2MBps
Quotes like 133X and 150X are NOT a multiple of this but the coefficient comparison between the read and write speed
As an example for a 2MB SD card
Uploading 2MB data takes 1 second
Reading data, for that same setup, takes 1 second
For the 133X the write speed is the same, but the read time is 0.4 seconds and for the 150X card it is 0.33 seconds
This also assumes the SD interface meets SDIO v1.01
If not then the 133X and 150X cards take the same time to read as the standard card
2gb Card Reader
Hi there ottGalaen,
My card reader is made by PC Line, I think it's PC World's own brand, the Model number on the back is PCL-CR400.
Here's a link to it...
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=818835&category_oid=
If that doesn't work just go to www.pcworld.co.uk and search for PCL-CR400
I hope this helps
Kind regards
Terry

SD card problem

Hey guys I have searched and found nothing. The last few days when I wake my phone up, up in the corner it will show sd card unexpectedly removed then a few seconds later it will go to the prepping sd card or whatever it says. A few times I have gone to my music and pictures and nothing is there but I just put it asleep wake it up and its loading up my stuff. I know it's a Samsung think as my S2 did it and my S3 did it once. Anybody else having the same problem? It worked fine up until the last few days

Was experiencing the same problem and the frequency of seeing "preparing SD card" was beginning to increase over the last few days. I tried formatting in the phone and formatting on the pc but neither helped. In desperation I changed cards from a 32gb Sandisk Ultra UHS-1 card to a 16GB TRanscend Class 6 card and my problems seemed to have stopped (over the last 12 hours or so). Haven't seen "Preparing SD Card" since switching. What types of cards were you guys running? Am wondering if I just go a bum card (works ok in the pc) or if there is a problem with the class of card or a problem with my phone. Don't really know where to go from here besides leaving the 16gb card in it.
I am using a Sandisk Ultramobile 32GB card, and I haven't had any problems with it at all.
I use iSyncr and store about 20GB of music in Alac format on it from my iTunes library, and have iSyncr set to display a notification when the Android media scanner is active, and I haven't seen any unusual scanning, or unmounting/preparing activity.

64gb uhs1 here so far no problems.
For me, that was always a sign of a failing SD card.
Thank you for confirming that the Note 2 works with UHS-1 cards. I figured as much since I have seen a number ofpeople mentioning that these are the cards they are using. A bit miffed at the problems I am having. Guess I'll see if I can exchange.
I'm having a problem with my free space not showing up properly. I have a 32gb class 10 that show ~5gb in one app and ~15gb in another. I had some corrupt files the other day so I backed it up and formatted it. So I think my card is going bad.

Had the same issue with my S3.
Turned out that the SD card was dying, this caused it to be unmounted by itself and then mounted again (sometimes showing notification “sd card removed unexpectedly”), hence triggering the media scanning process.
I created an application to monitor how many times the SD card was removed, and turned out to be unmounted every ~3 mins!!!
I then bought a new Transcend 32GB Class 10 card (made in Korea), and until now, this never happens, no reports from the application whatsoever, and no media process eating my battery.
I just published this app in the play store now, this is the link:

My phone just started having this problem on Friday... it doesn't let the phone sleep...happens probably 1 out of 4 times when I turn the phone screen on. Went to sleep during the night with 88% on the battery and 6 hours later my phone was at 55% and I had a message saying the SD card might be corrupted. Would you like to format it? Media process woke up my phone for 2 hours, so is it time for a new SD card? I'm gonna check out this SD card app I saw in this thread. Any feedback would be appreciated.

This seems to now be a "known issue" (as in here on the forum) with specifically the SanDisk 32GB UHS-1 Class 10 red/gray cards and Samsung phones. I had the same problem pop up out nowhere after using the card just fine for a couple of months. I switched this SanDisk card with a Patriot 32GB Class 4 card that was in my Acer A500 tablet, and now both devices are perfectly happy. My Acer A500 has absolutely no problem with the SanDisk card, so it doesn't appear to be a failing SD card issue. I tested it like a dozen times before reformatting it and putting it in the Acer A500.
There's a far more extension discussion about this on the T-Mobile Note 2 forum:

Anyone else with µSD card disconnection issues?

Hi All,
I got my Xperia ZL some 3 weeks ago, and since I'm still within my return period, I wanted to see if anyone else is having problems with frequent µSD card disconnects - to get a feeling for whether this is a firmware issue (correctable via upgrade) or I have a dud.
I have been fairly unsuccessful in getting my music synchronized with iTunes on my Mac. Although part of the problem is the horrors of the Sony Media Bridge application, the real issue is that my memory card keeps disconnecting while files are written to it! It reconnects a second later, but then Android keeps "Checking for errors" for some time before it becomes available again. Meanwhile, the synchronization stops.
I've also tried TuneSync from the Android store, with similar results. This application lets you synchronize in two ways: via Wi-Fi or by mounting the memory card to your computer (either using Mass Storage mode on the phone, or by physically removing it and using a memory card reader). WiFi sync always fails for the reason above, as does syncing in Mass Storage mode. If syncing via a memory card reader, the sync completes, but then there are all kinds of issues when reinserting the card into my phone, while TuneSync is processing the wired sync data.
My card is a SANDisk 64GB class 10, but I've also tried a SANDisk 32GB class 6 card with similar results.
Let me know if you have seen anything smilar - and better yet - if you have managed to get around it somehow.
Failing that, I'll probably return this phone in favor of a HTC One... (I prefer the ZL, but not if it's not working!)
Have the same problem. Read somewhere that there are problem with SanDisk ultra cards.

I've used the same card in my Nokia 808 PureView (Symbian) for nearly a year without any such issues... So there is obviously something specific to the Xperia and/or Android that does not jive with these cards.
Also, my other card (the 32GB class 6 one), although SANDisk, is not "SANDisk Ultra".
Good pointer though! I'll try to dig up some cards from other brands to have a go!
Thank you! :good:

This is interesting. I've now seen 2 dead Patriot memory cards in my husband's ZL ... switched to a Kingston card in that phone now & will see if the problem continues. I'm currently using a Samsung 32gb card in my own ZL and haven't had any problems (I've had the phone for a few weeks).
No issues here
I've been using my sandisk 64 gb microSD (Class 10) on my ZL without any issues for over a month. Before, I had used it on my note2 for 5 months with no issues. Its strange many people are having issues with sandisk cards. But, I can tell u that its not an issue specific to Z/ZL, it's rampant across the recent Samsung phones too (note2/GS3)! I guess it must be a bad batch of cards by sandisk or something. Btw, I'm on rooted stock rom with locked BL & only formatted my sdcard once using phone (ZL) before using it. I also have a 32gb sandisk (class10) & 16gb sandisk (class 4) microSD cards working just fine on my other devices.

[Q] Unexpected sd card unmount

I just bought an HTC one V.
As soon as I put my SD card, it says Unexpected sd card unmount.
My card is not dying or anything like that. It was working fine in my Samsung captivate glide, works perfect in my notebook and PC.
Card is a Kingston microSDhc class 4 16GB.
What can I do to fix this problem?
Already tried hard resseting my phone and no luck.
I experienced the same issue , faulty card. It was keeping unmont few times a day
Replaced SDHC works fine.

Micro SDHC UHS-I issues when using as an internal storage

Hi all,
I've been using my MOTO G5 for almost a month now and I'm pretty satisfied with it tho I've encountered some small annoyances with this phone.
But just yesterday I bought a Lexar MicroSDHC UHS-I 32GB for my phone and tried to format it as an internal storage replacing my Sandisk MicroSD Class 4.
After formatting it as an internal storage in my surprise the phone prompts that the memory card that I've used was "too slow" (considering this is a class 10) then reverted it back to portable storage, restarted my phone and then tried the same procedure but still the "too slow" message prompt was showing.
I felt frustrated with it, re-inserted my Sandisk MicroSD Class 4 then formatted it as my internal storage but the message "too slow" never prompt.
I just want to know if there is someone who had experience this unfortunate thing? what did you to solve this issue? or should I stick with my class 4 sd card or better yet stick with the 16gb internal storage of my phone?
Thanks!
yes, i tried to use an A-Data class 10 uhs-1 32 gb and i received the same message, but i thought my card is defect, it was used in my dvr camera and after 10 sec it stopping to recording, i think is broken. On the phone after 2 days, it blocked my phone, no one app working, everything was blocked. I remove the card and restart the phone and everything was fine. Sorry for my english, but i think that specs of the card its lies
Try running this app. Tests if the card is fake or not. There are quite a few around online that are have MUCH less than advertised capacity / speed and i'm pretty sure that the internal storage option on Nougat requires a proper fast card.
