It's real, it's here and i've tested it!

Not bad for £20 IMHO (£44 if you sign up to MoDaCo Plus to get the early unlock and the MoDaCo Plus benefits!)
P
Fantastic service, it took me no longer than 5 minutes locked to unlocked, i have been a Plus Member at MoDaCo for a couple of years now, so only cost me £20, and worth every penny, Thanks to Paul & Florin for sorting this one out.
Richard
it's works fine on my spv m2000
29€ that's all
What benefits do you get from unlocking?
Are you PAYG users and want to use another network?
Forgive my ignorance!
Gav
Usually its people wanting to put a foreign P&G sim card in their phone while abroad to save paying ludicrous roaming charges.
You dont have to be P&G to want to unlock though. O2's contract XDA IIs devices are locked to O2. Pretty silly considering they are on 1 yr contract anyway.
Nigel
gav_uk, it allows you to use another service providers sim instead of being tied to the network that provided the phone.

I Ordered MDAIII from T-Mobile , I didnt get yet but can some one help me with unlocking this phone . Is it posible to unlock this phone to use other GSM Networks. Will unlocking of extended ROM do the trick which I found in some other topic in this forum .
10x in advanced
Should come unlocked but it will be in German.
I got the MDAIII on T-Mobile in the UK and had to pay £15 for them to give me an unlock code.
AAARGGHHHH! - Unlocking T-Mobile (UK) MDA III Sim
Bought this device earlier this month. Can anyone help provide the unlocking sequence cause T-Mobile certainly can't! They say they can provide the unlocking code (eventually) but not the sequence, and to get it I have to contact the device manufacturer! I`m travelling to the USA in 1 weeks time and want to use a T-Mobile USA SIM card whilst there. :x
What do you mean by sequence.
T-Mobile gave me an unlock code - I put my O2 SIM card into the MDAIII and it asked for the unlock code - I entered it. It is now unlocked and works with my O2 SIM
Hmmm, never having unlocked a SIM card before I am going by T-Mobile's advice that there is a specific sequence of key stroke entries that need to be followed before I get to the screen that asks for the code. From what you say it might be no more difficult than taking out the UK SIM card, replacing it with the USA SIM card, a screen appears asking for the unlock code which I enter, and hey presto - job done!
Have I read this right? Is this all you do?
Yes, you are right. It is as simple as that.
MDAIII unlock code availability
Who or where at T-Mobile UK can a SIM unlock code be purchased for 15 pounds? I just got my MDAIII from the Oxford Street retail store but need to use it in areas overseas without T-Mobile service.
Thanks...
I telephoned CS and they gave me the unlock code
italian Rom for xda III
Has anyone an italian rom for XDA III?
Thank you

O2 XDA2s lock
I got my xda2s a week ago and when i called O2 they told me that there is no way i can unlock my phone before the 12month contract ends!
That is really annoying, but they told me its part of my contract agreement!(which i haven't seen mentioned anywhere...)
I need to use it in another network over the christmas, so if there is any other way i can get this unlock code you are talking about, or any software that takes away the lock PLEASE share it.
I really appreciate it.
George
It may be worth ring O2 again. It seems to me that it's the luck of the draw whether you get someone in customer services who
a. gives you the unlock code immediately
b. charges you for an unlock code and unlocks it immediately
c. tells you it can't be done until the end of the first 12 months of your contract.
T Mobile Unlocking
I recieved my MDA III Yesterday
I phoned T mobile straight away on 150 (from the handset) they were very helpful and told me they are happy to unlock it
but I had to have the contract for 1 month
only 30 days to go

georkal woudl you please tell me exactly-
Which customer service number you have called?
How can you tell them to unlock the phone? (I hv Voda Sim? I go overseas?)
Thanks a lot indeed
I'm glad you got it sorted georkal.
It's always been like this with O2, I wonder what there 'official' policy is supposed to be? Everyone who calls them seems to get a different answer.
o2 - no help at all!
Hi there,
I have tried O2 a number of times, and each time I come across the same problem - if you aren't an 02 customer, then no unblock for you.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get this thing unblocked?
Tony
Phone your own provider. I'm on T-Mobile and had to pay £15 to get it unlocked.
I spoke to O2 Cust Service 202 many times......
(1)bring it to shop they will unlock for ya
(2)impossible
(3)not until 12 months later
Keep calling - 02 will give the unlock eventually.
I just told them that I was travelling to the US and wanted to connect to a different network while I was there. My unlock code is in the post right now - can't wait!

i read in some forums that cingular is selling the sx66 for 650 USD.
Are they locked?
If so, can they be unlocked?
Where can i buy one, unlocked?
thanks.
Cingular was (and may still be) selling them unlocked, assuming you can find one in stock -- demand's been quite high. I managed to pick one up 3 weeks ago, not long after they came out, and it's unlocked.
There have been some rumors over at HoFo that Cingular may start locking the SX66, but nothing concrete yet.
My SX66 came unlocked. There are also rumors that cingular is pulling the SX66. People on hofo have reported telesales calling the SX66 defective and it seems to be nolonger available on cingular's website (from my zip code)
Talked to an honest Cingular sales rep who told me they were told to tell people there was a software problem. He said he spoke to someone in corporate who told him the manufacturer didn't do something they were suppose to do before shipping. From his conversation it appeared to him they forgot to lock them. The sales rep was trying to get one for himself before they lock it up.

I got my SX66 the other day and tried an old T-Mobile chip in it. It DID NOT seem to be locked. I am going to test it again with my sisters SIM chip, which is active.
JA
Mine came unlocked...
... and I was told that it was locked when I bought it... some of these sales people are so clueless!
I got mine unlocked.
I have heard of the locking rumors, but my opinion is that they yanked it because it had the ability to share the network connection with a laptop (or other computer). Given that the Treo650 devices have has DUN disabled, this seems more plausible
the SX66 is no longer listed online. you might be able to get it from a local store but at this point you might need to look hard.
I don't know for the SX66 (got mine unlocked in december), but Cingular has started locking their worldphones.
I bought an unlocked MPx220 in late november. I returned it early january and the new one was locked. A Cingular rep confirmed that they are locking everything now (including the worldphones, which they didn't do before).
Note that most people (including me with my MPx220) have had luck getting their phone unlocked by Cingular. You just need to send them email. Look on HoFo for more info.
So if you're planning on being a Cingular customer and just need it unlocked for the future or when you travel, it shouldn't matter because Cingular will most likely unlock it for you.
If you want to buy it and use it with a different provider, it's different. There is anecdotal evidence that you can ask a friend with a Cingular account to send the email for you and it has worked.
Laurent
I authored the info on HoFo,
Just to save you a trip, the information was written before the merger with AT&T. I do not know if their unlocking policy is the same as before, but it is worth a try. You might need to be a customer, in good standing, for a "small" period of time before you can get it unlocked.
My experience with unlocking T-mobile phones was not goof - the customer service employees did not know what they were talking about.
After reading all the doom and gloom on this forum about trying to get an XDS11s unlocked from o2 I thought sod it I'll ring em at o2 and ask politely if its possible. A very nice lady answered my call and I explained that I needed to get unlocked because I travel abroad a lot and needed to put a french or spanish sim in to save call charges. Certainly sir the lady said. It will take anything upto two weeks to get it done maybe, somebody will ring you in 24 hours to say wether it can be done. Lo and behold before the 24 hours was up she had called me back with an unlock code and it was done, all for no charge. So why all the hassle and doom and gloom amongst a lot of owners. why should anybody need to pay 20 quid to a third party to unlock these phones or was I just lucky.
Now I just have to weigh up which phone company after Hutchinson 3 ( which I have on another phone) can offer the cheapest call deal to put my new XDA 11s on. Anybody any thoughts ?
O2 xda location
Well not all xdaIIs will come from O2, some will be lock on a different provider and not all provider will be unlocking their phones once requested.
We get our XDA2s from O2 when they arive i call the retail help desk and within 2 hrs i get a unlocking code for them all.
I have never had any problems get a xda2s unlocked at all

I've had several Voda handsets, none of them have ever been locked
TP2, Samsung's, Sony Ericsson's, Nokia's, none of them locked.
There is a post somewhere on their eForum somewhere that says they have a policy of not locking their handsets, couldn't find it but did find this:
'Except for the BlackBerry Storm, we will supply a Network Unlock Code (NUC) for you if you've bought a phone from us on either pay monthly or pay as you go. A NUC allows you to use non-Vodafone SIM cards with your Vodafone phone.'
So even if it was locked they would provide you with the code

mate ring them again............NUC(network unlock codes) cost £20 so you get what you paid for! not all voda phones come unlocked as i am sure they will confirm. i have had many many phones from voda and all locked...........n95 8gig being a popular one, f490, s700 to name a few! i know what i am talking about mate as i own a phone shop!
why do you think mobile shops make so much money from unlocking................... some handsets do come unlocked but only a few and will defo be on contract and not pay and go!
I've never asked them, just read the info from their forum
I like the fact they 'accidental' left out the part about it costing £20 though!
Hi, I've just got my M5 and it's locked to Voda UK - is there a way to sim unlock it quickly, or do you need to get one of the online unlocks that takes 5 days or so? Had an S3 about 4 years ago and that could be unlocked when tethered to a PC... thanks for your help
Same phone acquired same way
You might have noted when you got the phone it was "primed" lock lock to whichever network you first tried.
If you put a Vodafone SIM in then locked to that network, probably with 5 tries to unlock.
Ebay has a seller charging £12. (+ £0 for online SIM or £2 for SIM from a Voda store)
Vodafone charge £20.
So I am going the Voda route, for the warranty. As I bought from them the Sales of Goods Act put the onus on them and I don't want them to complaint that the phone was unlocked.
Rather than buying a BigBundle SIM, I got a data freebie, so the data is IN ADDITION to the Top-up and thus the top-up can be used to pay for the unlock - after 30 days...
So quicker and cheaper via eBay (though some M5 users report these sellers cannot always find the code [most will give a refund]) but legit via Vodafone not much more time or cost.
