I'd like to buy a Qtek 9090.
I'm a french speaker, but I'm completely lost when the user interface has been translated. English is much more comfortable for me.
To be able to enter french characters, it was obvious to me that I needed the french version. Until I saw the AZERTY keyboard, with its unique accent key.
Does the english version have the 'accent key' too ?
If yes, do you see any reason for me to choose a french version ?
Mine has qwerty , without accent but with pound sign
I bouht it in holland (I'm belgian but hate azerty)
a good reason to buy english version is the value when you sell it in a couple of years. (you can't just flash another language cos the keyboard won't fo;;ow)
what's the key located at the left of the space bar ?
how do you enter characters like é ç à (with your hard keyboard) ?
btw i'm belgian too.
Hi guys,
I have the same problem, qtek 9090 received from work but in french !
I'd like to cook the rom to WWE but the hardware keyboard is the only problem...
For the moment, i didnt find a solution to remap or replace the keyboard. Maybe Qtek could provide it as a spare part...
Very good news, guys!
I found how we can use our own country built-in keyboard using a ROM in a different language.
I have made the test with German, Greek, Spanish, French and Italian... and it works great! It's extremely simple to do it. You just need to change a value in the registry
You must edit the registry with any registry editor, i.e. PHM Registry editor and you must change change this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\QWERTY
Layout=123105 is the default value when you use a WWE ROM. 123105 is the value in decimal for 00020409... and 00000409 is the keyboard layout for the US keyboard in Windows
so if you change the value of "Layout" to...
Layout=132103 (which corresponds to 00020407 in HEX... 00000407 is the German keyboard)
Layout=132104 (which corresponds to 00020408 in HEX... 00000408 is the Greek keyboard)
Layout=132106 (which corresponds to 0002040a in HEX... 0000040a is the Spanish keyboard)
Layout=132108 (which corresponds to 0002040c in HEX... 0000040c is the French keyboard)
Layout=132112 (which corresponds to 00020410 in HEX... 00000410 is the Italian keyboard)
and so on...
In other words, as Layout is a dword key, you have to calculate the value in Decimal of "0002" followed of the last four digits for your Country, for instance "040c" for France. 0002040c in HEX is 132108 in decimal
I think many people will be intererested in this feature
Cab file for the Extended ROM
And for the froggies, I have created a cab file FRE_keyb_layout.cab available at ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel
you can put in your Extended ROMs (as I have already done), so your SPV M2000 will have a French keyboard after a reinstall
I could have also made the on-screen keyboard layout in French, but I prefer personally a qwerty keyboard (sorry)
PS: And don't forget to add the line:
CAB: \Extended_ROM\FRE_keyb_layout.cab
to your config.txt!

Artz, actually most of French do not know about this nick-name. May be we (French) should travel more often to the UK. It's been quite some time since we last visited Hasting city in 1066
in XDA2 Rom 2.20 there is no entry QWERTY.
What am I doing wrong?
same here... no qwerty entry in 2.20
German Keyboard Cab?
Can you make a GermanKeyboard.cab for the 2.20 WWE please?
Greetings from Southern Germany
Phil
New keyboards cabs
I have made a few new cabs for French, Spanish, Italian, German, Norwegian and Russian. You will find them at ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Keyboards/
I only have tested the French, Spanish and German. In fact, I don't know how many types of different keyboards are available for the XDA IIs and in which Countries the XDA IIs is sold.
In reply to markimark and melino, if you have a "Blue Angel" device (XDA IIs, MDA III, PDA2K Evo, etc.) you should find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty key on the registry espacially if you're using a WWE ROM!!!
I'm using BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe from Dangaard (Belgium) with a SVP M2000 from Orange (France) which has an built-in AZERTY keyboard.
Toutes mes amities, Tanguy
Thx, man!
But it is not working here in the end.
I now have this string in the registry with the right entry, but the layout hasn´t chanced.
It´s still qwerty, even after softreset.
Any ideas?
melino,
it's really strange. Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing: The on-screen keyboard will be in qwerty but the built-in keyboard should be in German.
Which ROM are you using exactly? Have you deleted any cabs from the extended ROM? Have you tried to use this patch ftp://xda:[email protected]/BlueAngel/Qwerty_change_end_bluetooth_patch.cab ?
I'm using BA_WWE_BelDT_12200_557_10602_SHIP.exe ROM version (I have removed only the belgium operators configuration cab) and it really works fine.
Let me know if you succed.
Regards
I didn´t know the Qwerty_change_end_bluetooth_patch.cab and so I just tried it out.
What ever the sense of this the only change is to me was that grey bar on the bottom on the today screen.
But qwerty was the same... :-(
The search funktion gave no info to me where this patch was released, could you plz tell me to topic, maybe it helps...
merino,
please read this thread

forgot to tell you my rom: 2.20
This is the SOFTWARE KEYB or the HARDWARE KEYB? COz for the software keyb this is not new, On brighT there was long ago a topic on it, I am looking a solution for the Hardware one, I cannot stand this French ROM, must turn my 9090 back to english even if the hardware Key is still in ZAERTY
By the way resco keyb do it as well turn a QWERTY to AZERTY
Daimaou,
This is the hardware solution. The software keyboard (on screen keyboard) will remain in English but your retractable keyboard will be in French!
melino,
you cannot have a MDA III (SPV M2000, XDA IIs, etc) call Blue Angel but a XDA II (Himalaya or Andes) because there isn't any ROM 2.20 but 1.2200
kind regards
NO KIDDING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Portuguese Brazil Code
How can I know thats code is for Portuguese Brazilian?
Tks,
Hello,
can anybody help me with my problem: the German special characters ü, ä, ö, which are used pretty often, do not work on my TYTN II (VPA compact V) anymore.
Normally, if you write an a, you just have to press Fn and then the space-bar, and the a will turn into an ä. But unfortunately, this function doesn't work anymore.
Can you please help me because these characters are important for messaging.
Thanks a lot in advance
got it
ok i figured it out by myself. sorry for the extra post.
for anybody else having similar problems:
with these settings in the registry the problem was solved:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409]
"Ime File"="compime.dll"
"Layout Text"="COMP IME"
Htc makes only one European ROM at the time. There is four main languages for ex. English, Spanish, French...
In Europe are many other languages. If Htc does not want to make ROM for those languages, it could make T9 dictonary and Windows Virtual Keyboard in any case.
Many people understand English so well, that they do not need entire ROM translated into their language, but they need keyboard and T9 dictonary for writing their mother language.
Now Internet are full of different instruction, how to put T9 in action. Many of those are for the phones, which does not fit to Htc Touch HD.
I hope, that Htc could make language packs for different languages in Europe and serve the customers in this way better.

There are at least 15 languages available for your T9.
HTC serves you pretty well, don't you think?

On www.htc.com/support is only one ROM, and that is WWE. I can not see any other. I found on xda-developers -site one Finnish ROM and downloaded it. There were no Finnish word. Finnish was one of the languages, but I could not see any work with it.
Where are the 15 ROMs?
I had Samsung Omnia for a short time ago, and when Samsung had made Finnish ROM, it was really Finnish. Windows mobile had translated into Finnish. Windows Virtual Keyboard was with ä, å and ö and T9 worked well.
I have had many HTC - phones. Now I have three: Artemis, Iolite and HD.
I am looking forward to have T9 Finnish and Windows Virtual Keyboard with ä, å and ö.
I didn't say there were 15 ROM's availabe, but there are at least that many languages for the T9.
Look for '14 language T9 cab' and you will find an installer to enable extra languages for your T9.

Who has made it? Perhaps not Htc? I have tested that file, but T9 dictionary did not work. T9 remembers only the word, what I have written.

HTC did not make the cab-file, that is true.
But the dictionaries used by T9 are made by Microsoft or HTC.
I had to test several cab-files to before I got Dutch to work.
You'll have to try some more cab-files or search the forum some more.
Good luck.
in "defense" to matti i must say that (dont ask me how, maybe another row of keys?) imho some language-specific characters (eg ä ö for finns/swedes, è à ò ù etc for us italians) should be included in a specific keyboard layout. i dont use t9 as i find more a time waster than anything, but reaching the special characters by longpressing a key waiting x secs sliding to the desired one is just another time waster.

You should install FingerKeyboard then.
It allows you to set the delay before the special characters appears, it supports any layout you want, user-specified text (like smileys and so), ...
