JASJAM, Kyphur, LVSW, TripleDes, WPbear and all the others who have combined efforts to produce an amazing set of files which make our devices what they should be to begin with; Thank you so much for all of your hard work.
I have long surfed these forums and can honestly say I would probably not like my Cingular 8525 nearly as much without all of the useful information and upgrades that all of you have provided.
Like many of you there have been a lot of sleepless nights this last week. I have flashed nearly a 2 dozen times and have finally settled on, Jasjam's WMVI Black Edition, with Radio 1.34. I can't believe how smooth and solid and fast my 8525 is now (Not to mention beautiful). I for one, and I think the community at large, owe you guys all big props and respect.

05 APRIL 2007:
Well, I have been sitting here most of the morning reading all of the chaos and hubbub over Black 2.0 and it's decommissioning, and I realize how torn I am.
I was very lucky that after a few days away from the boards that I happened to come back on Tuesday and was actually able to download Black 2.0 before things got crazy. Of course I immediately installed it. It is quite literally PERFECT in my estimation. It installed quickly and Flawlessly and has been Lightning-Fast and Rock-Solid since then. I didn't think it could get any better than it did when I got Black 1.2. I was so ecstatic! I immediately ran to paypal and pumped $15 into your wife's shoe fund, JasJamming. (Us shoe loving women gotta stick together! Yes there are indeed a few of us women hanging around the techie boys.) I have spent the past 2 days literally bouncing off the walls with joy over my now, nearly, Perfect Cingular 8525.
To my shock when I popped in this morning, just to see how everything was going, I saw the horrible news. Though I honestly don't see why there are so many redundant questions on the board, it's not my place to question it either. I simply enjoy looking and learning from all of the other great minds across the world. True Globalization at its finest. How sad it is that in an age when everyone can literally find out anything if they choose, most prefer to simply sit back and let other people do it for them.
Here is where I am torn. On the one hand I understand the frustration you and the other Chefs must feel, Jasjamming. It must be absolutely infuriating to spend so much hard work and a ton of time doing something you really enjoy doing and offering your work up for FREE public consumption, only to then be treated as though you just unleashed the plague. So I can see why you choose to not continue the public advancement of your Black VI build for the Hermes.
On the other side of the coin however, I have found your work to be truly addicting and amazing and am thoroughly annoyed and frustrated that I will no longer be able to have your input and foundations upon which to build my perfect Phone. Truly heartbreaking indeed.
I do hope that one day things settle back down enough that people can once again use theses forums in the spirit they were intended and fun can continue to reign supreme for those who enjoy modding their phones.
In the end, after venting all of this on my keyboard, I realize that it is of course your right and your decision to pull support for Black VI. But I am sad, and your contributions will be sorely missed. I am not sure of the exchange rate between the US and Australia but I hope my little drop in the bucket does get your wife a cute new pair of shoes and that you can still sneak in a cold one with my thanks.
Thank you.

Thanks for your comments melanie,
its comments like this that make it all worth while; people enjoy the contributions.
Welcome to the community...
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who isn't sleeping lately .
Congrats on your having the patience to read and study before simply diving into the deep end.
I want to say thank you to all our Rom Chefs as well. I just want to run through the streets skipping and singing.
You guys are so awesome. One day we're wondering if we'll have roms at all, the next day we have WM6, the day after that 5 versions....
How sweet it is......
Agree!
Yes, I have been a long time XDA user, started with a Blue Angel, then went to a Wizard and how I have the Hermes. On all of them, without exception, these forums and the Dev's that make them worthwhile have been essential to me in order to get the most from these devices. My latest device, the Hermes, had HORRIBLE battery life out of the box from Cingular, I'm talking less than a day on normal to light use. After upgrading to first Kyphur's WM6 and now LVSW's WM6 and going to 1.34 radio; my battery lasts about as long as my Wizard's did. Thanks fellas, nice work, you all make our devices what they should be.
@kyphur,
Congrats on your soon purchase and I hope all goes well (watchout for last minute changes or details). My heart was hanging until I got the keys, walked out of the lawyer's office, and got in my car. Moving was crazy but not stressfull. Good luck with everything and looking forward to .30.
am on xda live 2.0 now, wanted to try the others but the new xdalive start up screen's so beautiful... haha
Thank you to everyone who has made running Windows Mobile 6 possible. I have been a lurker on here for a while, but just recently signed up.
With all of the great information on here I managed to update my Radio and my OS with no trouble at all.
Thanks again guys.
-Kai
although it may seem boring for other readers, I MUST say, as well, thank you from all my heart, not only for allowing us to uncover the inner beauty of these devices, but as well for the opportunity to spend time with you gyus, by reading the forum and trying all the different combinations, softwares, aso.
Its becoming addictive, and for that, Thank You!

I want to thank you guys also. Your sleepless nights, genuine brilliance and talent are really appreciated by me and I'm sure many many others.
I've got to add my thanks to everyone for the hard work, great forum etc...
And to EVERYONE, if you're getting as much out of this forum as I am how about a small donation - either to the gurus direct or to the xda-dev site. Someone out there is paying for our privelege of a 'free' forum.
Appreciation

I to thank all the rom cooks. I have tried all the wm6 releases currently on black 2.0. It's a same that such talent has to deal with all the drama. Looking forward to the next flash.
@excessdivide
Jas will be back... things have gotten better, and you havent noticed the redundant posts due to some heavy house cleaning that i have been doing.. things are looking better than just a few days ago.. so just sit tight and enjoy the ride!
I'm also new to the forum, found it days after getting my 8525 and it saved me from having to return it. I've been completely fasinated every day with the tweaks and enhancements that continue to roll out. That and the occasional f**kwit floggings delt out keep me comming back for more.
People will plunk down $100 for a Nav prog, $20-50 for any number of simple commercial apps. So dig deep folks into your hearts, if you like this forum and take more from it than you can give (like me, I'm a hardware guy, no programmer), please pop some "buckage" to the Chefs and the Forum. I shot some $$ to JJ for Black2 simply out of respect, this weekend I'll flash to it and if it's as good as I've been reading, I'll be sending what I feel an op system is worth.
I thank all of you for simply taking the time to document what you do, so others like me can share in your world.
shogunmark,
Thank you. I feel I should tell you, it was actually your name that first came up on Google many months ago when I started looking for help with my Cingular 8525. I don't honestly remember the problem which sent me searching but I do remember the advice you posted was dead on and very helpful and had me back up and running in an instant. In essence, you were the one who got me addicted to the crack which is XDA-Developers! LOL!
But again, I do want you and all of the other advanced users to know how much your advice and input is appreciated. If I could, I would donate to all of you guys and fund your efforts completely. Alas, it is not my lot in life to be independently wealthy, so my adoration must suffice.
Many Thanks,
Melanie

Wow, I thought I was the only one! It's good to know other women are interested in modding their phones as well. I have been coming into these forums daily and have really enjoyed reading about all the new updates and tricks and tips. I feel the same way as you about appreciating the rom chefs and other contributors and feel the frustration also of everything else that has been going on here. I can see the housecleaning has been going very well too and that some tempers have settled down and things may be getting back to a more normal environment.
Thanks to all the rom cookers and those that made upgrading much safer and easier.
YAY PhonePhun! I'm not alone! Hahaha! I'm glad to see you around!
I am often teased 'cause I would just as easliy splurge on a pair of Louboutin's as I would an $800 phone!
Anyway, glad to meet ya'!
Cheers!

Funny you should say that since he was also the one who got me to come in here with more interest than I had before that point. For me he had said some really decent stuff on another forum and I wanted to see what more really decent things he had to say here LOL, nice meeting you too! Oh, and I know what you mean by the people around me not understanding why this stuff interests me too.
I dont know how people will react to my thread. So I want to refer to what we stand for!
As always I want make sure everyone knows that im not a new user Ive been here for over 8 years now and seen this site just when it started I started a thread before to see If I could find some of the pioneers on the site and they give their stories to share with us.
But Ive seen them all going from my treo 750 (windows mobile) and three othe wm phones to my few android devices ive been here Ive currently reside over at the now slow dhd/inspire forums as my temporary home.
But development there has become slow not for the fact that the device has reach its limits. As the Hd2 proove this wrong. But by the fact of people that have entered development with a "indibidualist" mind set.
What is this?
Weve reach what we have over the year becoming a universal development forum ( even with iphone development) By having one state of mind and one only. Enriching each other with knowledge. This way we all make our way in to making the best of our highly paid devices. Weve all been ripped off by companies who want to take our money by simple and some times uselees upgrades or "improovements". We stood up for that and weve made phones live longer ans give us the best experience. Why should we risk this for fame. And being the "first" to do this or that!
Why would we become exclusive to what we have and dont eant to share and become improoved.
Ive been in over 5 forums were ive moved from a tester to mod makind and a Moderator at some. Ive never encounter this issue as we were all in that state of sharing and improoving. We fought only the big companies whom at times were cought by our demands like Lg on the incite... were we fought our way into inprooving the use od the gsensor.
But why would I want to take down someone who is working to improove what I did. This example happened to me with sense3.5 which till this day we dont have a proper md10 tool. Ive search the web and developed a dusk skin for a fancy widgets apk. I asked Gadget and he gladly said yes to my request. That was used and ported all over the forums like the amase and Rezound for sense 3.6. And Ive never went and took anyone out for posting what was originaly my work.
Why should anyone do it?
It only takes real development to a set back......
Food for thought!!!!
just wanted to speak my mind, not wanting to offend nobody...

I think if you've put hours of work in to a particular project, then see it posted elsewhere with someone else taking the credit then you've got every right to be annoyed.
yes, and I did but when I saw what they did with my original version and idea was exceptional. Anf I ended up praising their work. At the end of the day is the attitud we have that matters. I know im not even close to been the smartest and talented so seen my idea go even further is a + for me

Hey all, have an att LG Opt G Pro... love the phone but would love to be able to get rid of allot of that att junk I don't really use or want. Was wondering exactly what the advantages are and what all I can do once it is rooted. Where do you get apps to use... I assume they are not on the playstore are they.... apk's for rooted phones, are they up there....
What are the chances of bricking the phone, still have a year on contract so would hate to pay for phone i could not use... maybe should get insurance first lol.... see my deli-ma, would like to get the advice of other att users on the lg g pro and how much fun and better it has made their phone... what kinds of things they have done with it and changed etc etc etc... these kinds of things would be very useful...
currently it was running 20h I think it was, last three on build number. i have not updated since 2014, should I try and update first or does it matter...
any and all advice greatly appreciated... searched around but did not see a sticky with advantages of rooting listed... that would be a great sticky.... this is the beginning of this journey and i appreciate positive feedback... i realize there are many who are experts and probly weery of noobs like me... just remember once, a long, long, time ago, you were noob too lol...
thanks everyone.... i appreciate it...

oh one of biggest questions i forgot, was going to use this one click site to root, is it ok and safe: seemed pretty easy but before I try it I thought I better ask the experts....

To all you oneplus 3 reviewers out there will you bother to address the bugs and issues being faced by us all the buyers of Oneplus 3 in your videos and articles???
Most of us people are facing multiple issues on our oneplus 3 devices and you reviewers did not mention anything about them.. many of us bought this device after watching your reviews!!!
Numerous Examples of issues can be found on xda forums and Oneplus official forums.
Examples
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/any-way-to-solve-this-issue.455513/

I can paste another hundred links to this list
To add to the misery of some who purchased the phone, the oneplus team is not even bothering and responding if they will be providing a fix to all those issues and bugs being faced on their device
I need all of you to raise your concerns and ask the reviewers to include these issues in their reviews by updating them and forcing oneplus team to fix these issues as soon as possible.

Corrected
A list of mostly minor ROM problems.
Sit down and wait for updates.
How many bugs did S7 have when it was released?
How many bugs did iPhone 6SE/iOS 9 have when it was released?
When was the last time you wrote to Samsung/Apple support and they confirmed anything about fixing a problem you were having?
*******
Why post the same rant in 2 different sections?
Thread reported.
Honestly either have people really bad luck or am i having good luck. Have never experienced any problems with the phone. Its a beast! Love it from the start!
No problems with mine
@gruntyoldbag Great point. I've had way more issues with big brand phones than I have with either the OPO or the OP3.
@Suuugen I must have good luck too. No issues to report on my device at all.
As far as issues go, not every phone is going to perform well. This is why the manufacturers offer RMAs because they know a certain percentage of phones are going to have issues related to hardware/software. Every phone has issues like this, it's not just OnePlus devices.
I would have to say this is a rant myself and thread should be closed. I don't think I have ever bought a phone without doing proper research on my own, and bought based on a review. If I did, if have a sh** ton of phones laying around... LOL.

It seems nowadays that these forums have become a total waste to anyone if you dont have the latest devices or what help with rooting them. Other than that there is no interest in sharing or helpinp others anymore. I have posts that were posted in various forums, some months ago already and have had absolutely no feedback on them.
What is the point of even posting anything anymore,if nobody out there is bothered to help with advice, sharing files, apk's,mods etc anymore. I am really disappointed that the community in general seems to have just given up on anything other than the latest and greatest.

The android phone market is a trap that many people fall into. Yesterday, we were buying smarthphones to make them last, and Xda was there to give these phones a second life. But today, people are buying phones because they MUST buy. It's become a fashion accessory, and this consumption pattern has affected the look of the forum. The world of new technologies no longer takes the time to live, unfortunately ...

I would like to point out something you may have missed, i could be mistaken. However, this is (my reply) is truly valid.
I have modded smart phones and devices, i usually follow tutorials, Even if i may seem invisible. With that said, yes the infrastructure of technology is to move forward and "keep up'. I believe you missed what xda-developers means.
You don't need to keep up with the trends, afterall it's a decision only you can make.
Maybe you would benefit from buying old devices, and creating your own design. Customised. Just like an artist paints a pucture, inspired by the souroudning.
Please understand that I'm just a menber as you, but using an alternative thought process of what's going on here. I am unbiased, so i basically sit on the fence with everything. But c'mon. I ported andoid 11 on an S2. Unstable, but thats why this place exists. You have provided valuable feedback. I agree on one side, but would never bite the hanf that feeds me. so to speak..
I believe in development and not destruction.
In your case, honestly. if you're happy with it, stick with it.

Thank you for your feedback. We are actively working on ways to promote more helping and sharing of content on XDA. If you have any ideas, would love to hear about them!
The issue I have seen over the years is that many people come on XDA looking for it to be a "help site". Many want something for free. But, in order to get, you should give. XDA is about sharing of mobile device knowledge.

Help whores... some too lazy or inept to do Google searches and take the time to sort it out.
After which they vanish*.
Problem with that is to use these devices effectively you must immerse yourself in them to some degree.
This site provides an effective platform to aid that learning curve whatever your end goal is.
Learning from others mistakes is always better than making them yourself...
Both Google and the manufacturers push OS's and hardware platforms in a self serving way which is many times in direct conflict with the end user's best interests. This site helps to provide workarounds for the many issues this creates.
Something for everyone is not a bad thing...
*That's better than the spammers hawking the voodoo wuv
Yes,i agree with your statement. But of late, the help you speak of or learninm from others does not happen anymore. In my specific caseg have posted to various manufacturer forums asking for said help and advice and have got not one reply on any of those forums and topics in question.
Hence my saying that it seems to have become a place where if you dont have the newest available handsets etc,you wont get answers to your questions etc anymore because all the top developers are trying to keep up with the latest Android software releases and the latest camera etc technologies to take the collective community forward, but sadly it is to the detriment of the majority who cannot for whatever reason move forward with them and are stuck using older devices and then as a result dont get any feedback anymore on their questions etc.

Part the problem is the thread shows up once in the sea of other threads and quickly gets sunk to the bottom.
It's a busy site. Not sure what can be done expect bumping the thread every few days or whatever.
Separating the rooting, moding, new app threads from general questions might help... or just create more confusion. Probably do more harm than good.
(Edit) Personally I enjoy the cross exposure to other devices and platforms as it increases my knowledge/awareness base.
It's fascinating even if I don't always understand all of it.

Lot's of stuff for older devices has been covered. i.e. developers move on to latest devices, they develop, research, post etc. before moving on and at some point that device becomes an "older" device of which info/data already exists..
either way, cant expect everything to be covered as it's impossible. I was at that point once upon a time.. once i realized cant always rely on an experienced dev to be there to answer all my questions is when its great to research and learn on your own.. eventually stuff will become easy and you might have ppl asking u for help.. thats a positive thing about xda and the internet, theres endless knowledge out there if you are patient and willing to learn.

That, but also the fact that the technology has slowed down quite a bit. It was only a few years ago where most phones would begin to feel slightly sluggish on stock OS after a year of updates...Now? A relative of mine bought a mid range Motorola phone from 2019 and it's fast as can be, game wise it's decent too. The incentive to eek out more "oomph" isn't as high as it used to be - imo.
