Just picked up Siemens SX-66 from Cingular - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 General

I just picked up a Siemens SX-66 from a Cingular Store that had it overnighted to me. No Camera, but super nice Complete with Siemens branded case that presses all the buttons and is impossible to use, but has really cool magnet that makes you want to use it.
I would like to help in the quest for Bluetooth stacks and other ROM features. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. I'm going to try and post some pictures very soon

sx66
Can you tell me what version Rom and ext rom shipped with the seimens, and what version bluetooth stack version are they using?

How do I figure this out?

tap on start, settings, system tab and then tap on the Device Information
It will list the version #'s

ROM version: 1.20.10 WWE
ROM date: 10/08/04
Radio version: 1.02.10
Protocol version: 1337.35
ExtROM version: 1.20.115 WWE

Bluetooth Version
BT-PPC/PE Version 1.0.0 Build 2400

are those stock PDA2k ROMS?

Those seem like new roms and radio stack compared to what seems to being shipped with O2 XdaIIs:
ROM version: 1.12.62 WWE
ROM date: 10/04/04
Radio version: 1.02.00
Protocol version: 1337.32
ExtROM version: 1.12.925 WWE
I believe the Imates are not as current as the O2's but I could be wrong.

Yeah, the bluetooth version I got from clicking the bluetooth icon, going to settings and clicking about. I read in another thread that everthing, but a certain file was a different version. Is there another way to check the version of the bluetooth?

Have you tried the bluetooth out yet? Headset work okay, what about bluetooth gps?

Does your new SX66 have Windows Media 10 or is it 9?
Load up Windows media, tap on tools then about

Windows Media Series 9..
Haven't tested the Bluetooth will test tonight... Anything I should look for... besides distance and calls greater than 20 mins?

BTW... It's unlocked dropped a t-mobile sim in it

$550 + $150 cancelation fee = $700 for an unlocked XDA III
That's about $200 less than I paid. Is $200 worth it for a VGA camera? I'm not sure yet.

why spend $150 cancellation fee, when you can buy a one without contract for 649.99?????

I didn't even realize that was an option. I thought it was contract only.

Cingular tends to sell their pda phones for $100 more than a 2 year contract and unlocked. The Treo 600 was this way too and I bet many are hoping the 650 will be too.

Is this a legit Siemens upgrade?

Could someone please tell me if this is the actual upgrade that was released by Siemens? Link: http://www.netlano.com/support/Downloads/SX56/index.htm
Also, will I be able to use my phone with T-Mobile after this upgrade? Currently, my SX56 is unlocked.
Well, for one thing its a Rogers upgrade... if I'm not mistaken, that AT&T Canada specific. (not that I really know). I'm still looking for the AT&T SX56 (US) release that got yanked off SIemens site.
d.
Wait...are you sure its ONLY for canada? from the version it says A.30.09 which is the AT&T SX56...or if its different, what the difference? does it still have the volume attenuation problem? thanks..
::adit
It's not the A.30.09 ROM.....
Like the download link tells it's Version 30.07.
If you analyse the ROM, you're getting it as Version R.30.07.....

So the sound problem is still there them :? can any1 tell me where can i find a nice WM2003 upgrade simple like the siemens but problem free without sound problems? T-mobile looks good but the bloatware sucks..thanks

cool cope, thanx... ;o)))
buzz
I have three sprint versions, and a verizon version and i'd be intersted in getting the windows mobile rom from yours cause it's newer than 2.03 that I have.
Yes please hook up up with all of these:
R HA01_147
D 2.04.00 WWE
I also wonder is the HA01_147 radio version is an EVDO compatible version, hmm.
Thanks!
Alex
yes this phone is evdo compatible... as telus will be starting up their evdo network in first quarter 2006. WOOT! EVDO for me!
hey,
i am in canada and i have been thinking about buying the 6600 but telus offers the "unlimited" data plan that is capped at 50megs. any data over over 50 megs is subject to additional charges per MB. i talked with a telus rep and he told me that 50 megs is a astronomical amount and it is unlikley that i would go over it within a month. he says he has not seen anyone go over 50 megs yet. i was wondering how you are fairing with the 50 megs? how much data do you use on a daily basis?
if you dont mind i would like to ask you a few other questions about your device before i trade in my gprs xda2i. i added you to my msn and hopefully i will get a chance to talk to you becuase telus is not very helpful with the questions i ask them.
Would you please upload your ROM and Radio to the ftp so others like me can enjoy it
Thanks!
I was just wondering what's the latest on this rom :?:

i am off to manitoba for a week..
i will help you guys with this rom when I get back... pm me some more info.. ie how to dump just a radio rom etc etc. so that when I get back I can do it quick and painlessly.

Mda Compact III

Can someone tell me if the T-Mobile MDA Compact III is wi-fi.
I notice from other forums which state that this version is not wi-fi enabled
Shouldn't be too difficult to edit the registry settings.
Buzz, Maimach We need you, Help !!!
Doesn't look like it, it isn't mentioned in the manual.

The HTC p3300 has Wi-Fi standard onboard. Local telecom providers however, are able to choose if they want features like Wi-Fi enabled or disabled. T-mobile Germany decided to sell the MDA Compact III with WiFi disabled (maybe to boost the GPRS usage?). T-mobile The Netherlands decided to let the Wi-Fi feature enabled.
I have a dutch T-mobile MDA Compact III, Model nr. ARTE110, that has WiFi enabled. Bought it btw for EUR 209,- + 15,75 monthly fee, which makes EUR 398,- in total .
Maybe the WiFi feature can be enabled/disabled by tweaking the registry or using another ROM?
And does anyone have suggestions how to unlock it?
hi rjs_artemis,
can you give a link to a website where you bought it? is this offer also available for non netherlands residents? I am living in Belgium so that I might go to Maastricht and check that wisely
Greets
EDIT: Btw is the t-mobile in the neths in Dutch or English? regards
EDIT2: is it locked on t-mobile or unlocked?

I bought it at the T-mobile Online Shop, see here
other option is http://www.smartphonestunts.nl/index.php?tid=181
And yes it has a Dutch WM5 and it is locked.
As mentionned on the following link https://www.t-mobile.nl/persoonlijk...ab=Relax&ratePlanId=269&contractPeriodId=1030
the price of the phone shall be 239.95€ with a 15.75€ flex t-mobile abonnement and not 209,- like you mentionned. Therefore the total price reaches 428.95€ and not 398,-, reason why I asked you where you bought it.
Anyway price is still attractive but if you tell me the device is locked on t-mob neth, it doesn't worth one penny for my own.
Regards
btw for the old fellahs in here, do you know if pdaphones might be phisically unlocked like mobiles? I think it could be done but need confo
would be a nice opportunity then
T-Mobile MDA III
I had a reply from T-Mobile UK yesterday saying the UK release will not have Wifi.
However I read that the Wifi is all on board on the main Chip
Texas Instruments OMAP 850
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=cpu&id=a850
If thats the case then would another ROM not re-enable it?
Or do you recon it's a custom Hardware?
I'd like to stay with T-Mobile for Web'n'Walk but If i cant have the Wifi I'll go elsewhere
O2 I think is due to release the Orbit 27th Nov.
Might wait for that as I assume the package will be better that the ones Expansys is offering on O2 or vodafone with an HTC branded unit.

We are both right. T-mobile raised their prices for the MDA Compact III at the Online Shop. I ordered it last friday (03-11) for 209,-. On tuesday they raised prices with 30,95, so now it's 239,95 with a 15,75 contract.
Unlocking will be possible very soon. For example see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-282156.html
aye sounds promising
I'll wait before buying until I have some confo about that..
still the question of keef related to the wifi is really interesting... if any has made some tests on an uk or dutch t-mobile version..
T-Mobile Mda Compact 3
Ref Wi-Fi embedded in chip !!
Hi Guys
I have tried to perform a rom update on my Mda Compact 3 using the HTC P3300 latest rom but the compact was having none of it.
It appears to 'drop out' after 3 per cent stating 'incorrect device'.
This is not the usual "incorrect vendor id" so I guess updating with a wi-fi enabled rom is not possible
Why have T-Mobile skimped on this essential feature is beyond me !!!

Quote from that link
"All-rounder
The MDA Compact III is a fantastic all-rounder. It’s a dedicated navigation PDA with GPS and TomTom Navigator 6 software preinstalled. It runs on the powerful Windows 5.0 operating system. The Compact III is very user friendly as it has a mouse. Control the cursor with the miniature trackball and use its silver dial as a scroll wheel. Keeping up with your emails is simple and you can surf the internet with web‘n’walk. It has128 MB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for expansion, plus a two mega-pixel digital camera with zoom, flash LED and video capture, an MP3 player, FM radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB cable connectivity."

Verizon Rhodium Release (6.1 vs. 6.5)

Verizon has released the Touch Pro 2--which rocks. The device is not crippled by the carrier and if you're in the US and in the North East in partiicular (NY) there's no other network to be using.
With the every two promotion you can get the handset for $149. Really.
It ships with WinMobile 6.1 and is upgradable to 6.5 (means a ROM flash) but the 6.5 version (according to Verizon rep.) is slated to ship second week of November.
Questions I have revolve around:
1. Jetware mobile (I got the source code for this application for the forum); it's usually required for auto discovery and blue tooth stereo on Pioneer AVIC products. Anyone loaded the app on the TP2 yet?
2. SPJ Battery Performance Enhancement; anyone loaded this yet to see if it works?
3. Pocketnow.com Enable In-Call Recording
NCH Swift Sound Pocket TRx
Anyone tried in call recroding apps with this device yet?
4. Does the GPS sensor unlock cab that worked on the TP work on the TP2?
Thanks.
I intend to get the 6.5 device shipped rather than reflash (hey, it's only 6-8 weeks) but am wondering if others have vetted these apps and cabs.
Thanks.

New ROM for Verizon Touch Pro2 (?)

So after trying to use the Verizon 'Global Phone' for two months abroad and running into issue after issue, I canceled my contract.
Because I canceled due to living abroad, I now have the unlocked phone, essentially free (well; initial 199 cost).
What's the best ROM to have it just function like a normal 6.5 phone? (Working GPS and all?)
Is touchFlo a UI wrapper only for Verizon phones, I actually like some aspects of it a lot.
Thanks, hope someone here has flashed some other ROM onto this thing, there is so much verizon crapware.
CE
This is your CDMA section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=517
And don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!
I am currently using the phone with an O2 (German) SIM so I am guessing it is using GPRS not CDMA..?
