Have tried the standard xda unlocker with no success. I want to rip two things off the device, and need some help. One is a tray tool for screen rotate, and the other is WMP 10. Each time I try the unhide, nothing happens. The unlock gives me debug error FL_IOCTL_BDTL_HW_PROTECTION
Have also a XDA IIs to play with and noticed the preferred bluetooth options, and although does not have the installer in the ext rom, would love to extract and place on XDA II.
Any help on both would be greatly appreciated.

HI there,
I brought my son a brand new xda II on ebay. When it starts up it runs a program called TX something and expects a PIN - which I don't have. I can interupt the install, but the camera does not appear as an icon. I am pretty sure I can run the XDA2unlock.exe program on it, but what to understand how to get the camera installed before I do it - I'm guessing that the TX program installs the camera...
any help, gratefully received.
Graham
you can look for an exe file in \windows called camera.exe or something like that
if there is no such thing then you can unlock the extented rom and put in the cab file for the camera from somebody else's xdaII
but why do you need to get the cam working before you unlock it ?
Hi All
I've had my xda II for about 2 years and never done anything with it apart from unlock it & load navigator. Didn't even know the black chip init was just a card filler! (duh)
Is there anywhere on here that can give m a break down of all the things I can do. I see lots of pos
ts about rom & bootloader etc. Don't have a clue what they are but want to get the most out of my XDA II.
Would be nice to remove all the o2 stuff from it if possible. Also the default settings that load when you do a hard reboot. Some are definately needed but a lot is just crap that I have to remove everytime.
Any pointers, links etc would be much appreciated
thanks

hi jade,
Try pocket skype (you need broadband and wireless router though and drains battery quick - 1 hour tops), Pocket metro (Free), tcpmp and many others.

Regarding bootloader: STAY AWAY FROM IT!!! Bootloader is like BIOS in a PC, it loads the OS. Even for experienced user, messing with it is the easiest way to brick a device.
Regarding 02 stuff:
Hard reset you device, then just after you finished calibration and Dr. Johnson thing soft reset it before extended ROM cabs are installed. This should get rid of it.
Also have a look at the WiKi. There should be a way of unlocking the extended ROM and getting rid of the o2 stuff permanently. You might also get about 10MB of permanent storage out of it.

the iPhone is proprietary to Apple and so it can't be put on anything else. What you can do is put other things on your XDA to make it finger friendly in operation.
To remove just the O2 garbage, do a hard reset and then when it says "Customising in 3 secs", or something like that do a soft reset.
These questions and more can be answered if you look in the Himalaya/Andes sub forum if its an XDA II or the Alpine section if its an XDA IIi. To tell the difference, apart from the label on the front of the case, which may have been changed:
Go to Start - Settings - System - Device Info.
Select the "Identity" tab.
PH10B = Himalaya/Andes, can be upgraded to WM5 and WM6
PH10C = Alpine, cannot be upgraded but does include WiFi.
The best advice is to read through these forums, especially the device specific ones and also the "Development and Hacking" one for customisation.
Thanks a bunch! my sister-in-law retired her o2 xda 2 to me and I wanted to give it a nice "face-lift". I'll be trying out the stuff you've suggested, thanks again
Hey there.
Can anybody tell me how to change the three splash/boot screens? I am running the SNN Diamond 6.1 ROM for an XDA Mini S (Wizard).
I have tried various ways, but none have worked. This might have been due to the lack of instructions, but I am not sure.
I already have a 240x320 picture (BMP, 24bit) with my details on, so just need a way of sticking it onto the three!
Thanks
More info.

What Kind of phone do you have and are you using a kitchen?
I have an XDA Mini S (HTC Wizard).
I have the 'SNN Diamond' ROM installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386668)
I am just a user, so I know nothing about kitchens (well, that sort of kitchen anyway )
I have a problem with unlocking my windows phone HTC 8S so i can deploy XAPs.
I don't want to register myself for dev unlock, so i tried this chinese tool (called aiyingyong or something, that blue bird thing) which can be used to dev unlock windows phones. i saw tutorials and stuff and i know exactly how to do it, even if it is in a language i can't read. I tried using the tool and it detects my HTC. For some reason, a blue button (which should appear to continue) does NOT appear and i get this:
(i am german, so it is called "USB-Verbundgerät")
by clicking on the blue arrows down there, this happened:
if i type something in these boxes and try to continue, it does not work and my phone doesn't get the dev unlock. what am i doing wrong? what do i have to type in these boxes?
i hope someone knows another way to unlock it or can help me otherwise.
thanks for any advice.
Try the steps from http://windowsphonehub.in/tutorials...eloper-unlock-windows-phone-sideload-10-xaps/
is this unlock method safe from malware or keylogging and how can i get back to default if i dont want to use it anymore, i want to unlock but im not sure what other does this program.
Anyone who installed before can explain better.
