Hi,
I've been looking for this quite a while now... is there any SDIO GPS receiver that has onboard memory? Or an option to add an SD memory card to the GPS? I know they have GPS+Memory for the CF format, but I haven't seen ones like that in SD format at all...
Anybody knows a manufacturer?
Treo
What!
With a name like that, you're lounging around in the XDA forums?
(Sorry, couldn't resist.)
Hi,
matter of fact, I've had that nick the last 5 years... the Treo PDA wasn't even though of then... (I think)... well... it never really occurred to me until now ...

Hi,
I'm thinking of getting a 2GB card for my XDA IIi. Any recommendations?
I just had a 1 GB card fail after 4 months of a 5 year guarantee (from Integral Memory) and need something reliable to replace it. Does speed make a huge difference? SD or MMC? I'm running Lexipedia, Word, Lexisgoo and a Rhyming Dictionary mostly.
TIA
Happy Xmas
M
Any experiences good or bad? Any links? You know the sort of thing people might say in a helpful forum. Surely some of the 150 people online must have had a memory card or two in their time and know more about it than I do.
Cheers
M
Before resorting to sarcasim maybe looking under the "Alpine" you would have come accross this http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29784 and all your questions would have been answered
OK thanks. I did a search for SD Card, SD card recommendations etc. and got about 8000 responses, none of which seemed relevent. I looked at Alpine Accessories which looked to be the most appropriate forum and there was nothing.
Anyway being slightly rude got a response. Thanks again!
I have been using a 2GB SanDisk card for about a year with my XDA2i without problems. Until last week when it seems all the data on the card has become corrupt (see attached file). The data looks the same whether the card is read on the XDA or on a card reader. Any way it can be salvaged?
Ok so this is my first post here, so if I drop a clanger, please bear with me.
I've got an HTC Wizard (T Mobile Vario etc) but there is something I'm really missing.
Does anyone know of anybody that makes & sells a wired hands free kit with a built in FM Tuner? I would have preferred a built in FM radio in the phone (yes I know, I should have got an Atom), but I didnt & now I have to live with it.
I know Nokia & Sony Ericsson do external tuners for their phones. It should be easy with an Wizard because the only connections are via jack sockets.
I have turned EBay upside down looking for this type of thing, but all I can find are cheap looking plasticy things from China that run on watch batteries! I was looking for something a bit more up market.
I'm sure I can't be the only person in the world that
wants an FM radio bolt on for their Wizard!?
Or am I???????????????????????????????????????
you can get a fm radio sdio card which would add fm radio to all pda's with a sdio slot
the Wizard uses MiniSD, and as such won't work with any SD I/O cards. Afaik, you can't get an SD I/O > MiniSD converter either?
This is not good news. I too have seen the SDIO cards. I think all they do is bleed power from the device, rateher than being truely integrated. But never seen a mini SD devive
Anyone seen anything combined into a headset?????
Plenty of radios that are basically stuck on a plug and two earbuds;
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0002EQXFK.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
But I don't know if they work together with the Wizard for e.g. voice commands (which I personally don't use, so doesn't matter to me)
Yes I am aware of the type of radio that you mention. As I said in my original post "I know Nokia & Sony Ericsson do external tuners for their phones". Problem is they dont have the correct plug to use with a wizard (ie 4 conector, 2.5mm jack plug) which is what you need to listen to MP3 music (for example) then maybe switch to a phone call & then listen to the radio all using the same headset. The Motorola one is close, but the pins on the jack plug are not correct Something like this would be great, ie a headset (with microphone) + a radio. Am I asking for too much?????

I guess you are
Could take some cutters and a soldering iron and work some magic with that :>
Hi, have a look on the following link, it is the one i am using.
http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=111492
N I C E !
It almost fits the bill. If only it could use the bluetooth connection to use the MP3 player on your phone (in stereo of course). I think I need one of these N*k*a (sorry I nearly swore) & A2DP. Assuming the T Mobile ROM ever turns up will A2DP work on a wizard?
Why is it that the BIG 3 phone companies look after their phones with good accessories? Come on HTC, your phones are great, but they need to branch out & support the phone range with some add on goodies.

You're right about that. I had an SDIO WiFi card for my magician. Whereas the battery would normally last a few days, it would be dead within an hour with the WiFi card in.
Hello any news on this yet?
Hi,
I have been searching around for something like this too. Unfortunately no luck.
Any of you guys find something interesting?
rohseq
Sadly not. I too am still searching the internet for something, but so far nothing that matches the criteria has popped up. Its becoming more & more annoying :x Every time I see something its a specific product for one of the big phone manufacturers. Clearly they put a value on selling accessories (presumably for a good profit) to enhance their phones, whereas most Windows powered phone owners are left to fend for themselves with stuff off fleabay.
Makes me wonder if its worth going down this route again So far I have had an original SPV, E200, C500, C550 & now a Vario (Wizard). Next time around I might go back to the big "N" & enjoy the benefits of buying something from a fully supported product range.

just joined...take a while to find my feet..! Got an xda exec...wanting to put an 8GB SDHC memory card into it, but been told the limit is 2gb...is this true?
How can I increase memory or link USB1.1 to Belkin card reader and show contents of memory cards on my XDA Exec?
Thanks for the help
I'm wanting to upgrade the memory of my XDA Exec to 8GB SDHC, but have been told that this is not possible..what is the highest level of memory upgradable on the XDA Exec?
Welcome to XDA-Developers.

SDHC cards wont work.
4gb is the highest you can get in normal sd cards, but be careful when buying as some 4gb cards are normal SD and some are SDHC.
I bought a 4gb SD from www.mobymemory.com for £19.99 a while back, was one of the cheapest, works fine, and have had no problems in the Universal.
EDIT: They still have them now http://www.mobymemory.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SD_MOBYMEMORY_4096_002
I'm using DarkForce's 2.10.03, and found an interesting driver registry key:
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIN\SDHC
and sdhc.dll in \windows\...
Can anyone try 8GB SDHC card with this ROM?
WTF is that dll for?

For SDHC to work:
1. The hardware must be right
2. The software must be right
In the case of WM6 in the Universal, the software (WM6) is right .... this is why the registry key you are referring to exists. But SDHC won't work in the Universal because well ... the hardware is not right.
looks like SDHC will soon be a reality to exec...
heard mamaich's already been working on this....
Guys are you certain about the hardware of Universal is not compatible?
I have a Treo 650 and for some time the limit was 2GB then suddenly with the coming of Treo 680 it was compatible with SDHC, only a driver mod and voila.
In the forums there were users which where 100% sure that the hardware was incompatible but all of them prooved wrong.

Hi Guys,
I've read through the forum and looked at the wiki, but I've not seen any mention of what the largest size SD card supported.
I've got an o2 XDA Orbit, and I was thinking about getting one of the new 4GB micro SD Cards, but I'm not sure if it would be supported.
anyone know? TIA

If the card you are looking at is sdhc it will not work in the artemis.
There are some (reportedly) non-sdhc 4gb cards out soon and in theory they should as do 4gb non-sdhc minisd cards in the wizard.
So at the moment 2gb is the max - i would choose a fast one like the sandisk ultra.
The card I was looking at was a standard SD card not SDHC, I found it on Play
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3359487/Sandisk-Micro-SD-4GB/Product.html
Interestingly when I was looking at it this afternoon it was in-stock, now its marked as Pre-order...

I saw that too but i dont have the link - 50 odd pounds i believe - but i think its not out till june - try it out, if it does not work send it back.
I found it http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3359487/Sandisk-4GB-Micro-SD-Card/Product.html
from the image it looks like its non-sdhc but ???
time will tell
meschle,
Do you happen to know if Artemis is able to work with microSDHC cards provided its firmware has been changed to the new one containing WM6 OS. (You might have heard O2 Germany has already issued WM6 ROM for Orbit).

That needs to be verified but i doubt if it will work as it has not on say the hermes with wm6 - but your right needs to be tested.
I asked because I 'd been informed that new customized hand made firmwares for Trinity issued by lvsw and mun. The authors stated the support of mini SDHC, and some users have already confirmed that. I am not sure whether drivers came together with WM6 or were extracted manually from other devices.
Orbit WM6
My Orbit is updated to o2's WM6 version and "will not" recognise a 4GB SDHC card ;-(
It seems there is some understanding out there that a couple of ROM cookers have made WM6 roms compatible with SDHC cards. However, with my stock O2 XDA Orbit, I found under the registry, HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\SDHC. The entry refers OMPA850_SDHC.dll and other settings such as ControllerIRQ, SDIOPriority and the dll file actually exists under the windows dir (43472 bytes)!
Does that mean O2's ROM has already got the driver? Or is that common to all P3300? And most importantly, has Orbit owner actually tried a SDHC card to prove it does or doesn't work? so if anyone can borrow a 4Gb card, probably from a Nokia N95 owner, and give it a go, that'll be great, I'm searching for a card too.
Amazon offers 4GB Cards

But I have to wait till next month cause I am a poor student

I believe that "SDHC" means in this context "Secure Digital Host Controller", and not "Secure Digital High Capacity". As far as I Know every P3300 has that entry in the registry and the library OMAP850_SDHC.dll...
It doesn't mean that 4 GB SDHC don't work in our device, and in fact I'm interested also in knowing experiences of users with that kind of memory cards
Sorry for my horrible english

Sandisk microSDHC 4GB don´t work on MDAc III with WM5.

Oh yes, this makes sense. I may have to switch to a WM6 rom for it. But when my gf gets the HTC Touch, I'll see if I can copy the SD driver from there
BTW, your english is pretty good too!
