Dear Members,
If you own a PDA2k device then please check out the following thread at www.clubimate.com:

Perhaps the pressure on Carrier Devices would compel it to work harder on the update and to improve its communication with its clients.
Thank you...

I did, well I guess my username gives away the rest. Oh well I don't really mind much. True that does show it is Verizon, but also give some hope that things may change in time? I've got my fingers crossed.
On a side note, I was drinking with a buddy who works on Android and he was saying that Kit Kat should alleviate some problems involving carriers. mostly with updates and having more congruency between release between carriers but also with things involving unlocking. No intricate details but that is what I've got. He seems really excited about it.
this is what they wrote to me
HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices.
Since the carriers personalize the phone at the last part of the process, they decide what will be included, and what features will be enabled and which wont. We apologize for this inconvenience, and if you want to, you may get in touch with Verizon Wireless through the following link:
http://support.verizonwireless.com/contact_us/
Thanks for your continuous support of our products and services. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us through http://www.htc.com/us/contact/email/ or call us at +1-866-449-8358 from 8AM to 1AM ET, 7 days a week.
Have a great evening Jesse.
BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!
Everyone that emailed HTCDev to ***** about our situation is receiving one of those two canned responses. VZW has been doing this for years. They aren't going to stop anytime soon. The general rule of thumb with Verizon is that you're pretty much guaranteed not to have unlocked bootloaders/root for awhile after the device launches. There's been several mentions of an exploit being discovered by some Devs but that they are waiting for 4.3 to release so VZW can't patch. Have faith in the community. When will 4.3 release for our One? No idea. Knowing how punctual VZW is with updates we'll get it in September 2019.

Please read and follow the Rules and Policies set forth by the administrators of this site. For any forum related questions, problems or other maintenance tasks, the best way to notify one of the moderators is through the use of the Report Post system (here if app is used). Alternatively, please feel free to contact any one of us via PM with any issues or questions regarding the forum. Links to each of the moderator's profiles are available in this post and at the top of all of our assigned forums.
We are all here to help our fellow members and to help continue development on many different devices. This is a development community made up of developers, so we encourage you to work together, help one another and learn together. As a community, we also have guidelines on conduct and general expectations of behavior on the forums. When posting, please treat other members with courtesy and respect. No personal attacks of any kind are allowed and participating in arguments is highly discouraged. If you find a questionable post in a thread you have visited, report it to the moderators and avoid the temptation to police it yourself. Getting involved in the bickering or piling onto a fight only adds to the problems.
Finally, if you have problems, comments, or complaints regarding a moderating decision, send a PM to the moderator. There's an appeal process for any decision and the first step is to inform the moderator of your views in a private setting. Hashing these types of issues out on the public forum is counterproductive and will be seen in a negative light.
Enjoy your stay!
