I get really fed up with the camera turning on everytime I accidently press the button. So I set the camera button to 'none' which did the trick, until I soft reset. I have to re-do the change after every soft reset. Have any of you come across this problem or better still have a solution?
I even installed Battery Pack Pro but the 'power button' settings are ignored, so if I set the camera button to none for both tap and hold when I press it the camera appears!
Please help this is driving me mad.
Are you on WM5? It might be an unresolved issue.
Otherwise, try to assign a different application to the camera button and see if it remembers it.
I'm using 2003 se.
I'll try allocating a different app and see if it's remembered.
thanks

what is your device model my friend???
T-Mobile MDA III running the standard T-Mobile ROM - although I have upgraded the radio ROM. But this problem has always existed.
just go at the windows/startup directory. You will see there a camera_detect program. This is what reassigns the camera application on the camera button every time you soft reset. Just delete it.
Brilliant.
These things are so easy when you know the answer!
Many thanks.
i had that same problem and fixed it the same way =)
Alright my phone just started to act up last night ! My phone just started to take pictures on its on the camera would turn on and sit there and take them. IDK why!!! Also the biggest problem i am having it that my D-pad shuts off!!! when i try to use the soft keys they will not work for me. The Screen works fine! but when the soft keys don't work my keyboard don't work but the phone know i am using the keyboard as in when i press the space bar it brings down the start menu! Also when the soft keys dont work i use the on screen keyboard to type and that is even F%#!%# UP!!! i type on the on screen keyboard but i can not use the backspace on the or arrow keys. Also the scroll button on the side stops working on me also. when i am in call my soft keys shut off and i cant end a call!!! Now the weird thing about all this is i can turn them all on just by pressing one of the top soft key. (the Msg or internet button) and then everything starts to work again. now i have no clue what is wrong with it and i have tried everything from reinstalling the OS to Clearing the OS and that has not helped ! i really hope its not a hardware problem !!! Right now i have my Camera button off and the camera does not take pics on its own right now but my screen does turn on and just sits there and does nothing. But if anyone can help me solve this problem i will Donate to them = D!!!! Please Help Me Out ASAP!!!
Thanks!!!
well thats screwed upp. lol
yea i cant help you. i just wanted to tell you how screwed up it was.
I would try a hard reset first and/or rom reflash.. if that doesn't work better buy you a parts doner phone
Hi All.
After searching for about an hour i could not come up with anything usefull to what i need.
When ever im typing or just using the stylus i always bump the camera button and than have to wait for the cam to load so i can exit, At the moment i have the button disabled but this can get very annoying when i need to snap a quick pick because now i have to go through menus just to open the camera.
I found a few posts related to my problem but they didnt seem to help, I have tried hbutton and also tried this reg edit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1577293&postcount=12
But my phone does not have any of the registry entries he is talking about
So basiclly all i need is a way so i have to hold the camera button for a couple of seconds before it does anything.
Any help would be great.
Thanks, Paul
My first issue is that my keyboard stops functioning when i type. i have to go to the menu and reactivate the QWERTY. the QWERTY is already bubbled i just have to pick it again. Its weird my girlfriends phone has the same problem.
also sometimes when i create a new text my phone turns off i have to take out the battery for it to turn on again.
any solutions?
also it randomly switches to another app that i didnt even open... and it loads super slow any ideas?
Hard Reset!
Try to hard reset your phone...although you did not write what ROM you are using?!
I am using stock 6.5 and have never had any problems whatsoever.
my phone is completely stock. what do you mean by hard reset? the reset button under the battery cover? wont that reset everything and delete everything?
The reset button under the battery cover is just for a soft reset (like restarting your computer, it turns off and then turns back on by itself) and you don't loose any information. To hard reset, you need to turn the phone off then hit the call button, end button, and the power button all at the same time. This will erase everything an put it back to the out-of-the-box state. Your user manual will probably better explain since mine is from recent memory.
any other ideas why this might be happening?
also it randomly switches to another app that i didnt even open... and it loads super slow any ideas?
So I activated Universal Switch on S6 Edge to check it out, something went wrong in the settings (long story short, got a pop up while setting it up), now screen unresponsive.
It works, I just get this blue horizontal line scanning the screen and nothing else but the power button and home button works. Tried safe mode, no bueno. How can I disable US feature without resetting to factory or at least no data wipe (if possible!)?
Android 5.0, rooted with pingpong, no custom recovery, knox 0x0.
All help is appreciated.

[The exact same thing just happened to me someone please help
Fixed!
The way I had fixed this is by holding down the power button, both up and down sound buttons, and the home button until it restarted. When the device turned back on it gave the option to turn the setting off. Hope it helped!

how to turn off universal switch
hit home button 3 times
Thanks alot
It worked buddy
It doesn't give me the option to turn it off
Hi,
I have been struggling with Universal Switch on a Samsung S5 Neo. I switched it on, but was never able to switch it off again.
These are findings so far:
-> Did a factory reset using "Sound Up", "Home" and "Power" button simultaneous.
-> The device comes back and wants to configure itself again.
-> I restored my settings from Google, but this immediately brought back "Universal Switch"
-> Factory Reset again and configured the device, but told Google that I want to use it as a "New Device".
-> Now I can use my device in a proper way.
-> In Google Play Store I find all my Apps which were linked to my account and reinstalled them and I am back in business again.
-> Took me half a day to sort this out.
The programmer who designed and programmed this should be hung and shot and poisoned, because this is absolute Crapware.
Hope this helps for all the others who are suffering.
You can also push the home button three times and it should turn it off.
thank u ur the best
Ok, so i have exactly the same problem except my home button doesn't work
Anyone one know how to sort this without having to take it in to a store?
I was faced with this problem before and looked everywhere and couldnt find a fix. This was a while ago. So I dont remember what I did to clear it. I was cleaning off the screen and touched the home button as I was wiping it off and the problem began again.... I just came across your comment because all the others failed. I pressed the home button 3 times quickly and the blue lines stopped scrolling. In addition, I went over the accessibility and I turned off the "Universal Switch" option as much as the option allows. I hate this function. I do not use it or need it (for my needs). I hope I can remember what to do next time this happens. I swore to myself I would remember last time, but apparently that wasnt a guarantee. This time, I will write it down and put is somewhere I know I will find it next time I see these nefarious blue lines scrolling. Hopefully I wont see it again since I disabled it more than it was to begin with. Thank you ever so for commenting. You saved me a lot of frustration!
great fix
