O2 ANNOUNCES PLANS TO FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF HIGHLY ACCLAIMED Xda® II
Press Release : 8th September 2004
Having secured over a third of the UK’s wireless handheld market* with the Xda II, O2 today announced its intention to introduce the Xda IIs. This new device will include new enhancements to the integrated PDA and mobile handset, whilst retaining the core functions of the original Xda II platform that have proved so popular with both consumer and business customers. The Xda IIs will be available in the UK and Ireland on 1st November 2004 and Germany by the end of the year.
Aimed primarily at the professional user, the Windows Mobile™ based Xda lls offers a number of new features over the original Xda II. The biggest addition is a 39-key, slide-out QWERTY keyboard for added usability. This user-friendly addition enables customers to use the device more easily for applications such as email, contacts, calendar, texting and editing using well known Microsoft® Office tools. The new device will also include BlackBerry® Connect™ from early 2005.
The Xda IIs also boasts a 25% increase in battery life over the original Xda II, as well as enhanced WLAN capabilities and quad band connectivity, all of which will be of particular benefit to those customers frequently out of the office or those that travel regularly. Laurence Alexander, Director of Products and Devices at O2 UK said, “The Xda series has been extremely successful and having gained top reviews across the industry, it is now recognised as a leader in its field.
By combining a high specification product, cutting-edge functionality, quality features, contemporary design and competitive pricing and packages, we have no doubt that this new device will continue to win new customers and ultimately market share. It demonstrates our commitment in leading in the mobile data space and offering the best customer experience through technological innovation.”
Early next year, O2 will also be launching the Xda IIi a Windows® Mobile based device that runs on the latest Windows 2003 2nd edition software and is faster than the Xda II due to its advanced Intel PXA270 processor, which runs at 520MHz. The device also upgrades from a 0.3Mp to 1.3 Mp camera, which gives significantly higher quality pictures. This makes it a preferable option for those who regularly use the camera function and want a device with a slightly faster performance.
Launched in November 2003, more than 100,000 Xda ll devices have been sold by O2 in the UK, Germany, Ireland and throughout Asia Pacific. Sales continue to show steady growth with the device gaining approximately 20% market share overall across the countries in which O2 operates in just six months since its launch.
The Xda II has proved a popular choice for both consumers and corporate customers alike. O2 recently announced that the Xda II achieved over a third of the wireless handheld market* in the UK and this is set to grow with the continued uptake of mobile technology from companies such as Cantor Index, London Borough of Lewisham and the Sadie Frost fashion label Frost French.

Thanks for this!
Here's a translation that's a little more clear.
Thanks for the info
600 Euro, hope final price goes low...
At first I thought it was saying the ram could be increased then I realized it was just talking about the MicroSD slot. Also, what's up with the ram size conflicts. I know it's nothing major, but on says 288MB and another says 256MB. Is that the differece in size definition?
contracts
Well Iam sure you all are happy the new touchpro2 has arrived for you guys. It better late than never. As far as price the phone is old by now so they should be giving you a discount if you get the 2-year contract.

Hi all,
for your information, today Microsoft brought some news for the Windows Phone 7.8 Update:
Posted on: Nov 28, 2012 by Terry Myerson
It’s been an exciting month since we officially launched Windows Phone 8. Devices are in stores, reviews are out, and ads are appearing on TV. Feedback so far has been great, and we’re really enjoying seeing how much our customers love the new Start screen. It’s especially fun to see people posting screenshots of their Start screens all over Facebook, Twitter, and sites like http://mytil.es and http://whatsonyourstartscreen.com. As you’ll quickly notice, each is as unique as its owner; the new Start screen is one of the easiest ways to make the phone reflect your style, your passions, and your personality.

Reviewers agree:
“It’s not a stretch to say that Windows Phone 8 has the best home screen — the perfect combination of flexibility, design, and simplicity — of any major platform right now.” –The Verge
“Someone who glanced over my shoulder and looked at the user interface of Windows Phone 8 said, ‘That's a really pretty phone.’ He was right.” –Wall Street Journal
“The live tiles and the distinctive user interface remain Microsoft's biggest selling points for Windows Phone.” –Associated Press
But it’s not just Windows Phone 8 users that get to enjoy the new Start screen. As previously announced, with Windows Phone 7.8 we’re also bringing the feature to existing Windows Phone 7.5 devices. During the development process, I used builds of 7.8 on my Lumia 900 and it felt like a completely new phone: resizable Live Tiles totally change the way I do things, providing faster access to more of my favorite people, photos, and apps.
Windows Phone 7.8 also includes some other cool stuff. It doubles the number of theme and accent colors—to 20—so you can make your phone even more personal. There are also new lock screen features: the option to automatically display the Bing Picture of the Day plus the ‘A1B2C3’ PIN/password challenge to prevent accidental device wipes on phones connected to Exchange accounts.
And there are new apps coming for Windows Phone 7.5 and 7.8 customers. The hugely popular Words with Friends and Draw Something are already available, while Angry Birds Space and Angry Birds Star Wars are on the way.
New models running Windows Phone 7.8 are beginning to launch in many countries around the world, strengthening the ecosystem by bringing more Windows Phones to more people. These devices will typically be sold at a range of lower price points, meaning there will now be Windows Phones for everyone’s budget and need. This is incredibly important for broadening the reach of Windows Phone across the globe and ensuring we have the right product for every market.
Speaking of broader reach, Windows Phone 7.8 also expands the number of markets where customers can buy apps and use the Xbox service. Testing of this rollout is ongoing, but we’ve already managed to increase our global service coverage by over 30%, to 95 countries—a number that should continue to rise.
We know you’re eager to get the Windows Phone 7.8 update, and we want you to know that we’re working closely with our hardware and carrier partners to get it tested, approved, and rolled out to as many devices as possible in early 2013. As we work to quickly get this in the hands of our loyal users, we’re also striving to deliver a high-quality release and ensure a smooth transition for our widely expanded services.
Thank you for your support of Windows Phone.
-Terry

So, now they aren't sure that every current WP 7.x phone will get an update? I'm not upset that it's comming in early 2013. Now I think my Omnia 7 won't get it at all.
I'm going to flash a custom rom.
I think it depends on OEM and carrier for those who did not get international versions.
Anyway, this is great news. More features is exactly what I hoped for.
you can always push the update manually using wpupdate, it's very simple to do it also.
Samsung launches its cheapest phone Galaxy Star at Rs 5,240
Intensifying the price war in the fast-growing smartphone category in India, South Korean mobile handset maker Samsung Electronics today launched its cheapest Galaxy series phone 'Star' priced at Rs 5,240.
'Star' is the cheapest device in Samsung's Galaxy range and competes with the likes of Nokia's Asha range of smartphones as well as similar offerings from domestic firms like Micromax and Karbonn.
"Galaxy Star is a device that provides superior value to consumers based on its features, intuitive performance and design features. We want more and more feature phone users to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy Star," Samsung Mobile Country Head Vineet Taneja said in a statement here.
Previously, Galaxy Y was the cheapest device in Samsung's portfolio and it was available for Rs 5,890.
The entry-level smartphone is a dual-SIM device, powered by A5 1GHz processor and the latest Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system. It has a three-inch capacitive touch screen, 2MP camera and 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory (expandable up to 32GB).
With this device, Samsung now has a portfolio of 15 smartphones, priced between Rs 5,240 and Rs 41,500.
According to CyberMedia Research (CMR), more than 221 million handsets were shipped to India in 2012.
Though smartphones comprised a small chunk of the overall handset market at about seven per cent, the high-end category grew at a robust 35.7 per cent to 15.2 million devices in 2012 from 11.2 million units in 2011.
Given the strong growth in the category, handsets makers are introducing products that are affordable. This is also aimed at helping feature phone users upgrade to smartphones, it said.
Samsung was the category leader with 43 per cent market share followed by Nokia (13.3 per cent) and Sony (8.2 per cent), CMR said. PTI SR RSY MR 05241700.

Okay according to this article, the problem is the battery itself. There are two different type of battery, one from samsung SDI battery and one from chinese ALT battery.
The problem is the samsung's SDI battery that's causing the battery to blow up.
Samsung is saying that because of the Chinese version of note 7 is using the ALT battery, they will release to China on Sep 1 without delaying it
For the OMG! crowd, here's the original article. Some websites are speculating it could be an Exynos model issue. Korean Samsung products as regular XDA'rs know aren't the same as other regions. The fact that the stop-sale only affects Korea most likely means whatever issue is being investigated (Samsung hasn't said the battery, Reuters is hypothesizing it) is Korean-market specific. If it was a problem affecting all Exynos devices and Samsung only halted sales in Korea that would open up huge liability if someone outside Korea was injured or incurred economic loss after the issue was known.
If the issue is h/w related and requires a design or component change Samsung's screwed. They can't fix a problem serious enough to stop sale for future purchasers without applying an upcoming change to phones already sold. If it is a battery issue caused by crappy third party chargers and/or cables the fix could be as simple as a warning label affixed to the phone and changes to the documentation and manuals. Many a Nexi has been fried by crappy USB-C cables so now more than ever it pays to get charging apparatus that can be trusted.
Here's a great list of what's good and what's crap from someone on Amazon who tested various third-party USB-C cables:

Tech giant Samsung Electronics Co Ltd (005930.KS) said on Wednesday shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone are being delayed as the firm conducts additional quality control testing for the premium device. The firm also said Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korea's top three carriers - SK Telecom Co Ltd (017670.KS), KT Corp (030200.KS) and LG Uplus Corp (032640.KS) - had been halted. "Shipments of the Galaxy Note 7 are being delayed due to additional tests being conducted for product quality," Samsung said in a statement to Reuters.
The firm did not elaborate on what potential problems it was testing for or whether shipments to other countries were being affected. South Korean media reports have said some users have claimed that the battery exploded.
Quality control problems, if confirmed, could deal a major blow to the world's top smartphone maker, which was counting on the Galaxy Note 7 to help maintain sales momentum in the second half when competition is expected to intensify. The phone, which launched in South Korea and other markets on Aug. 19, retails at 988,900 won ($887.23) in South Korea.
Production problems for the curved displays for the Galaxy S6 edge phone resulted in disappointing sales last year, and Samsung risks a repeat this year if it cannot address the Galaxy Note 7 supply problems quickly. Rival Apple Inc (AAPL.O) is expected to unveil its new phones next week.
Hyundai Securities said in a report released on Thursday that the Galaxy Note 7's problems appeared to be related to modules or parts, and that such "malfunctions" should be resolved quickly.
"Such problems can be addressed by replacing parts and modules and changing the design of circuits, so supply problems for the Galaxy Note 7 should ease within a matter of few weeks," the brokerage said, retaining its third-quarter operating profit forecast of 8.5 trillion won.
It was not immediately clear when Galaxy Note 7 shipments to South Korean carriers would resume.
This year, DOOGEE introduced a new rugged phone series. The V-series will be 5G rugged with flagship-level tech for your outdoors and adventurous lifestyle.
