Are you trying to use a network printer? I am sure I used that same software with ipaq to print to my Laserjet printer using infrared port. Which printer are you using.?
we need to know how the printer you want to use is connected to whatever it plugs into, is it a desktop?, it it a jetdirect network card?,
And how you are trying to print to it, wifi?, bluetooth?, infrared? or through the cradle?
hi mate
its connected to my desktop its a epson photo 830. and i am trying to print through the cradle
regards kevin beecher
hi guys
antone know how to set this up.
regards kevin
That's an odd setup. Why don't you just move the file to your desktop since you have an AS connection, and print it from there??
i am at the moment i was just wondering if i could just print from the xda
regards kevin
can you post a link to the software you downloaded and i will have a look for you, as standard there is no way of addressing an external printer that i can see,
I can print by beaming documents to my printer over infrared to my HP Laserjet 5 with an infra red adaptor plugged direct into the printer but that is effectively printing to a local port on the XDA2

Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone have experience connection USB devices to Artemis?
USN HDD, Card readers. USB hubs.
I am thinking of trying to connect an USB HDD but just wanted to know if anyone done it before
Sofaford, if you get this working let us know over at http://www.xda-orbit.com
I would love to be able to use my external laptop hard drive with my orbit
Due to the USB bus structure ,it is not possible to connect other devices except a host like a PC to the Artemis. The Artemis has only a device controller on board, but You need a host controller, if You will link the USB HDD to the PDA. There are some other PDA's with build in hosts in the market
Got a nas hard drive works on my wireless network. Good at home. Is there a wifi adaptor to use hd out of network range?
Does anyone tried this Program?
http://htc-blackstone-100.handster.com/software.php?id=3339&for=HTC+Blackstone+100
Just found it by accident and don't have a fitting cable
It's look like a fake, because: http://htc-unexisting-model.handster.com/product.php?id=3339
Bluetooth
On the Teksoft homepage there's a driver for bluetooth input too, seems to work in the demo videos?

Has anyone tried this and found it to work / not work.
I want to connect a Leica Total Station (Surveying Equipment) (http://www.leica-geosystems.com/uk/en/lgs_67104.htm) to my Blackstone and use the Leica "Pocket Instrument Explorer" to get the two talking to each other.
On the PC the computer and instrument are connected with a Prolific USB-Serial Converter cable on a standard male Type A USB.
I have a USB Type A to USB Minin converter to physically connnect the Blackstone to Instrument. The software (which, has installed fine and seems to work) has all sorts of settings for COM3 and COM4.
I know that the USB on the Blackstone is not a HOST but I suspect that this is the case on many PDAs and if the case I see no reason why Leica would develope the software if there is not a way to connect them.
Anyone who wants to try this will need the PIE software which is a locked download for Leica Members. I will email a copy to you if desired but do not want to post it here for general distribution.
I've searched and haven't been able to find an answer to this. I have the Note 8 (wifi) and a GS4 (Sprint). Both come pre-installed with the 'HP Print Service Plugin'. In the GS4, if you click on the 'Print' option, in the browser for example, it will find Samsung and HP printers. However, if you do the same thing with the Note, you get the popup warning about how it will only print to Samsung printers. Why does it come pre-installed with the HP plugin if the Note won't even use it? Will this be fixed in an update? I also have an Acer A500 which uses Acer Print which can print to a whole mess of printers. I don't like the vendor lock-in here. I know you can use apps to do this, but then you have to use 'share' and not 'print'. Is it possible on a rooted device to remove the restriction to Samsung only printers so it will work like it does on the GS4? Or to install Acer Print on the Note? Much appreciated.
I have been successful using the Google Cloud Print app. I have used this with Xerox, HP, Brother printers...It works great.
anything that usually comes with the device is *crap* IMHO.
I personally use PrinterShare
Althought its not free... and there is that saying "you get what you paid for"
I can get PrinterShare and Google Cloud Print to work fine, but my point is that they install the HP plugin as a system app on the Note 8 and GS4, but don't let you use it on the Note 8? PrinterShare and Cloud Print work by using the share function which doesn't play nicely with https pages. I just want to know if there is a way to make the Note 8 'Print' function work like it does in the GS4... or the A500 using Acer Print for that matter.

I have a jet-direct enabled HP printer too. But both the HP app and kitkat printer service get stuck searching for the printer.
Did you have to do anything special to get it working?
I do not have any trouble printing from my windows laptop. Finds the printer on the network with no hiccups.
But both my nexus 7 and moto x cannot....
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

I haven't tried it with my phone, but my tablet worked without any issues. It was pretty simple. It scanned my network and just started working after that. If you need me to test anything shoot me a PM. Not sue what could be your issue unless its running on a different port.
Was this ever resolved? I'm having the exact same issue and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I called the manufacturer and they were no help! I have a Note 8 and an S4. Neither will print using the HP pluggin.
I have a photo smart printer that has print direct and jet direct print capabilities.
Home routers may pass through HP printer ports without configuring, but you may need to open some udp ports to get the print services up and running.
I also note old routers had no provisioning for wake up commands on wifi. My printer requires manual wake up before I can print. I installed both hp print apps, one being web print and the other document print. Both work just I will need to upgrade my router so I can print without manually waking up my printer.
Using a basic (non WiFi) printer which is connected via Google Cloud print doesn't work, the tablet printed from it once and never again, the tablet shows the printer but everything is faded gray (making it non clickable) the printer is an HP Deskjet F4180... Has anyone else run into this issue or might know a fix... Thanks!
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
If I am not mistaken with basic cloud print the computer it is attached to needs to be logged into Google ( probably even on the same account as your device).
Cloud print enabled printers should be available whenever they are on and connected to your wifi.
I have an HP Envy 7640 printer that is NFC enabled, how do I print directly off my phone to the printer? When I turn the NFC on both and wave the phone over the printer I get the following screen:
What am I missing with this? Am I understandng correctly, I just turn on NFC on both devices and it should connect? If it matters, I do not have a wireless network (router) in my house.
Thanks-Dan

You need to use the HP ePrint app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hp.android.print.
Print with using App
If your printer and mobile phone is connected with same wifi connection then mobile printing is very simple. If you are android device user, then go to play store and download "HP Print Service Plugin" from there. Install this app in your phone enable notifications for this app. Toggle on HP Print Service Plugin and your mobile device is now enabled for mobile printing. Select the item you want to print. Click on print option select your printer and customize paper settings , confirm right printer and tap on printer button for final print. If it doesn't work or you facing any error in this process then use HP Envy 7640 Manual- guideusermanual.com/product-name-envy-7640-e-all-in-one-printer-series-manual&po=243373&lang=English for detail view and other mobile printing techniques.
