This tool has been superseded by: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=24779
Go there for support of the newer models! (thanks to Itsme)
Update June 3 2004: With an improvement of the repairing process it is now also possible to unlock the Orange SPV M1000. The latest version is v2.2
Update April 6 2004: After testing it was determined this tool works for all Radio ROM versions except for 1.05.12. If you have this version either use the older method or upgrade your phone with an upgrade by your vendor.
To provide a continued quality user experience, we are happy to announce an update to the XDA 2 network lock repair tool!
Supported Radio versions: 1.05.12A, 1.05.14, 1.06.00, 1.06.01, 1.08.00, 1.10.00.
Please report differences or additions to this list.
This tool does NOT support the XDA IIs, XDA IIi or XDA III.
As this tool is fundamentally different from the previous version it pays to read this closely:
The new tool is a PocketPC application. As such it no longer runs on the desktop itself. The good thing is it needs *no hard reset* anymore. The application communicates on the device with the GSM phone directly. The program xda2unlock.exe now needs to be copied on to your XDA 2. To do this there are two options (choices):
1. Use the packaged installer xda2unlock-setup.exe, which will install the program on your PocketPC for you. (so this does run on your desktop but does not unlock anything yet)
or
2. Copy the binary xda2unlock.exe onto your device manually.
Next is to run the application on your XDA 2. The following is taken from the readme.txt in the installer:
Code:
Welcome to the Himalaya network lock repair tool!
xda2unlock.exe v2.2
This tool installs a program on your Pocket PC called xda2unlock.
It is installed in the \Program Files\XDA2Unlock directory.
But you can also find it in under Programs in the Start menu.
You need to tap on xda2unlock to execute it. A screen will appear
informing you of the progress and any errors that might occor.
When you are done you can remove the program under:
Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
This tool is free and you can find more tools and information at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com
Running the tool on the XDA should provide you with information if it was successful or not. This tool should specifically provide support for newer radio versions such as 1.10.x.
If you have problems, it does not work or you see other strange behaviour please post it in this thread. Supply as much information about your software as you can find and about the circumstances.
Version 2.1 adds some more error reporting to assist with 1.05.12 problems.
Version 2.2 adds repairing of all locks instead of just the network lock.
Enjoy.[/b]
The original tool required a hard rest to enable the code to be obtained (as it went in to boot loader). I am reluctant to do a hard reset (unless I am forced to) as I have a working system and don't want to have to reinstall everything.
My question is - Does this updated tool now mean a hard reset is not required?
Use a backup program
Sprite backup can restore from bare metal(hard reset) in a few minutes. I have to use it several times a month and it works well.
Sim Unlock
I have been semi successful in unlocking my XDA II: :?
For some reason I was unable to unlock my phone using the latest method.
After 3 attempts I reverted to the Bootloader/hard reset method which was succesful in giving me an unlocking code.
I then entered the code and it was accepted.
These are my results:
Vodaphone sim - Phone signal ok but no GPRS?
Orange - No phone signal or GPRS
O2 (original sim) - Phone signal ok and GPRS ok.
Has anyone had similar results or any suggestions as to how I can rectify the above problems?
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS I must say this is a fantastic website and will be donating the money that O2 wanted to unlock my XDA II to the upkeep of this site.
Keep up the good work chaps.
feedback
Hi
I'm very much interested in feedback as the tool was only tested in a very limited way. What did it say when you ran it?
Did you run it with the blocked SIM in it or without SIM?
As you might have noticed the tool does not require a hard reset now.
magic failed
Hi,
I tried this potentially very useful tool a few times from my XDA II from THE LINK with O2 200 tariff.
It failed everytime with the following message (part)
Start of repair process...
Preparing modem ...
Performing magic ...
Failed to do magic
I have a vodafone sim card with £25 top up left that I would like to use up in the XDa II.
Any ideas please?
me too, with exactly the same problems,i got 3 XDA II from the Link with O2 but it doesnt work.It displays failed magic like Matts...So plz help me.
there is my situation:
I install the progamme to my laptop, then copy the file to my XDA II,after suscess install i run the file in my XDA II,it failed .Do i need to connect to internet ??? or sthing else?
success at last
The new xda2unlock failed for me as reported earlier so I tried using the earlier file direct on the PC after going into the bootloader as per instructions. This worked first time and extracted the unlock code.
Using this code I can now use my vodafone sim which has a lot of top up time prepaid.
NOTE:-
1, I did a full active sync backup to PC before starting. The backup file was approx 38MB.
2, I did a soft reset after removing XDA II from the cradle. It then behaved exactly like a hard reset installing from scratch from the extended rom.
3, I then restored the active sync backup using guest mode (I did not want to remove my old settings)
4, When prompted I replaced the XDA II contents with the PC contents.
5, Finally I did a fresh active sync.
My XDA II is now almost exactly as it was before I started.
The big difference is it is now UNLOCKED!!!!
MANY THANKS to the experts in this forum.
I now feel brave enough to tackle the extended rom with customization in mind.
@W4XY
Worked well.
Unlocked brand new dutch T-Mobile device.
Version: 1.60.00WWE
12/0/03
1.06.01
1337.16
1.60.16
MS 4.20.0 (build 13252)
Removed simm did a soft reset and then used the unlock file
So I had no Simm in it, during unlock
After unlocking it behaved like a HARD-reset
But unlock worked. Tested it with a KPN Simm and all is working well.
Tuurtje
but what is your info?
Ok,
I see a few reports of failure here, but still no idea what you guys are running. Please at least supply the info found in Start -> Settings -> System -> Device information
If you're interested in a fix that is.
I experienced exactly the same screen messages as Matt & Sid.
As I mentioned in my previuos post though I did manage to get an unlock code using the old method and it was accepted.
The strange thing is I get varied levels of signal & GPRS depending on which networks sim I use.
Question for W4XY: If I have generated an unlocking code and my XDAII accepted it, should my XDAII now be sim unlocked for all networks or is it possible that its only unlocked for some?
:?
Failed unlock
Tried both with sim in and sim out, same failure both times.

Well this does not sound so strange. I have different performance with different networks too. Depends on their quality, antenna placement etc etc

It should be unlocked for all. A phone can be locked to multiple networks, but once it is unlocked for a network that was previously locked, it should be unlocked for all.
Please at least give your radio version from Start -> Settings -> System -> Device information so we can figure out what works and what doesn't. It could be the older 1.05.x radios behave differently.
Although I am a happy bunny now, as the bootloader method worked for me, for completeness here is the info from my O2 XDA II. The new method failed on this device reporting magic failed.
ROM version: 1.03.00 USA
ROM date: 09/24/03
Radio version: 1.05.12
Protocol version: 1337.12
This device was purchased on 11/mar/2004
Surely this is not an old radio.

what can i do now, i tried the bootloader way, and direct from pc.

The bootloader way should work. It should give you a unlock code. Unless you have Radio version 1.10.x.
PS:
From now on I won't respond to problem reports anymore that do not contain the radio version in their message.

To be honest, I'm not sure on what the differences are precisely. I think the 1.10.x is definetly an update to improve as it also specifically blocks the extraction of the unlock code.
I uploaded a new version of xda2unlock above. Version 2.1 should provide some more error information. Please report what it sais.
i just try the new version n here is my report with the new verson that W4XY just posted:

Hi, I am have trouble with the phone locking all the time I have been told that I need to update the ROM as mine is:
ROM version 1.10.00 WWE
ROM date 12/24/04
Raidio version 1.00.00
Protocol version 1337.39
ExtROM version 1.10.124
I laso have a 1G SD card inn the slot. I run TomTom 3 but it will lock and I am unable to run the points of intrest as this lock its dead. I hear that there is a ROM and Raidio update which fixes alot of the problems can someone tell me how to do this and were to down load from.
Thanks.
Current ROM Update for XDAIIi
Please download this file. On install if it doesn't update 1st time run the update again and it will install.
ftp://xda:[email protected]_XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.3.rar
Thanks I have down loaded and copied to XDAIIi but how do I run it?????
you run it from your PC when the XDA is in the cradle , it WILL remove all settings and programs you currently have on the device so make sure you backup what you want to keep.
It hard resets your phone, and upgrades to the newest version ROM.
it might error the first time ... simply run the program again and it will work.
The down load won't run as file format unknow?
It is packed in an rar archive.
You need a program called Winrar to open the archive, which you can download free here http://www.rarlabs.com/download.htm <--- download the top one "WinRAR 3.50"
Once downloaded install it. Once installed right click the ROM archive you downloaded here and select "Extract to Modified_XDA_IIi_Upgrade_v1.11.162_Radio_1.3"
then you should see a new folder appear with the upgrade program and files inside.
Great thanks alot.
I have now used the phone complete with TomTom 3 all working and no crashs in 4 days it makes the XDAIIi a real usable tool for me. Thanks to you all and keep up the great work. O2 should have contacted there customers to upgrade for them. I now have 2 more to do for my guys at work as they are very unhappy with me for getting them the units hence the reasion I had to fix the issues.
Im new here, pls help me, my XDA IIi wont work anymore, someone suggested that ROM upgrade would help... the prob is my XDAIIi is always restarting.. maybe software is bad.. and since the link u given in the past POST wont function anymore, can someone help me get the ROM file so that i can update my XDAIIi? pls...pls..pls.. thank u more power..my email is.. Hi All,
last friday I upgraded my Hermes to Black 2.0. Everything was working fine. This week I'm in Morroco for my job (I normally live in France) and I can't register to any phone network. I tried automatic network selection, nothing. I tried manual selection, I can find the network (i.e MEDITEL) but I can't register to the network ( I get an error message saying that registration could not be applied through the network). I tried several ROM, to no avail.
My current configuration is :
ROM : Hermes WWE 3.24.04
Radio : 1.40.30.00
SPL : 1.40 Oli
Sim : unlocked
Can anybody help me please ? Because for the moment, I'm blocked in Morroco without phone !
Thanks in advance
have you tried calling your Service Provider?? and how did you manage to get the latest version of Radio ROM as it was only released today?
I didn't contact my provider because my colleagues have the same provider and have no issues. As I said before, I tried several things to fix the issue, updating Radio among them. I downloaded 1.40 version this afternoon.
have you tried changing the band to GSM only?
I also tried that, but I couldn't complete the operation. Each time I got an error message saying that the settings could not be applied. I'm currently in the process of of downgrading to a WM5 ROM to see if the issue is still here.

downgrading your OS wont make a difference... you need to downgrade your Radio... try downgrading to 1.38.30.10 using SSPL and let us know....
sounds like your Radio might be corrupt...

You're right, downgrading to wm5 didn't change anything....not did the radio downgrade to 1.38.
Tomorrow (it's 12. AM in Casablanca) I will try my SIM in others phones and try other SIMs in my phone. I will let you know.
The good news is that Black 2.0 doesn't seem to be at fault in this issue.
Thanks for your interest.
it's fixed
I have good news ! I tried several SIMs cards today on my phone, and I was able to join the network with each of them. I put back my own SIM card (after cleaning it methodically), and I have been able to connect. So my issue is now solved, and I can sill enjoy Black 2.0
walshieau, thank you for your comments, it put me in the right tracks

Isn't technology wonderful!!! We spend so much time upgrading, tweaking and fiddling that we forget something as simple as a dirty contact can screw us just as easily
PLZ help me, while trying to upgrade my HERM I lost the Radio, there is a message (No GSM) appearing during the boot.
I've tried many unofficial ROMs, but still getting the same message!!!
And when I tried to use the official ROM, the upgrade stopped on 11%!!??
To solve the hangup problem, I used unofficial ROM again, and after the upgrade I found the same GSM problem again.

Fine,,,
Device: at&t 8525
ROM: Original WM5 ROM, and while trying to upgrade it my device hanged up on the colored screen. To fix that, I've installed schap's 4.31 WM6 ROM using the MicroSD Card (HERMIMG). Now the device can boot but with No GSM at all (even there's no information about the GSM under Device Info).
The device now can accept any modified ROM (like schap's, faria, etc...) but unable to accept the official (original) ROMs. When I try to install any official ROM the upgrade process will stack on 11% every time.
So, the device still having no GSM.
Thank You....
FirasKB,
Most roms on her DO NOT come with a radio included. Usually only the manufacturer roms do.
There are 2 things you need to do:
- Consult the MrVanx guides which will help you understand what you are doing (google search for this).
- go to the wiki in this forum and search for a radio rom to upload.
In summary, reflash, say, Scahps rom then flash a radio rom from the wiki (I suggest radio 1.47, which is pretty reliable).
Hope this helps.

Ahhh, a little info.
First download the official AT&T 3.62 ROM which includes the 1.54.07.00 radio.
Reboot the pc with the PDA disconnected.
(Oh, make sure that you have ActiveSync 4.5 insttalled of course)
Put the device into bootloader mode (hold power and OK button while pressing reset with stylus, nice tri color screen will appear)
Connect the PDA to the USB cable and run the RUU_Inside.exe file.
wacky.banana is correct, most chef's don't include a radio. You've got a corrupted ROM (due to the incomplete flash) The RUU_Inside.exe will typically talk directly to the hardware when nothing else can and fix. I've personally recovered around 10 or so 8525's that I've "bricked" with bad flashes and then repaired with this method.
I can't guarantee that this will work but it IS your best shot friend.
Good luck!

I've done as you mentioned, but the upgrade process stopped on 11% again and couldn't complete!!?? (the message ERROR [262]: UPDATE ERROR appeared on my P.C)!!??
Kindly, advice...
I can't remeber what error 262 is about; however is your device unlocked? If it is not then you need to address that issue first (its in the wiki)
Secondly have you installed hard spl to your device BEFORE attempting to upgrade your rom? If the answer to this question is no then that will confirm that you have not read up on this before jumping in, which is hugely dangerous.

Stuck.... completely stuck
My fiances phone is stuck in the tri color bootloader screen. I am in the US and i have tried everything from flashing the original RUU to a hard reset and everthing, but nothing seems to work. the IPL is 4. 10. 0002 and the SPL is 4. 10. 0000. Can someone please help me. I know there has to be a way to fix this.
I had the same problem. After trying to fix it myself for about a week I gave up and sent it to AT&T Repair center. Got it back functional.
I haven't tried the Himalaya ROM method, though.

Thanks again to your support,
The problem happened when I tried to unlock the device to upgrade it (it was fine befor), I don't know whether it was already locked or not, but usualy when I buy any Pocket P.C I'm preparing to unlock it first (I've done that many times on HERMES before, but this is the first time I'm facing such problem!!). So, while unlocking the device it's stucked on the tri color screen.
I've done many things after that to solve the problem (updating the hard SPL to v2.10 successfully, flashing many ROMs -not including Radio- successfully).
So, I can flash any ROM now but it must be without Radio, otherwise the flashing process will stuck on 11%.

As I wrote above, my problem still not solved and my device still running with (No GSM).
I've done the following:
- Updating the ROM (O.S only as the device not accepting any Radio ROM)
- Updating the SPL to Version 7.
- Trying to update the radio (separately) but I didn't success??!!
It seems there is no solution to fix this problem???!!!

I get the fundamentals of Simunlock v/s AppUnlock etc.
It was SimUnlocked using Unlock code I had got from T-Mobile.
1. It already has the latest Official ROM version on it (i.e. I tried doing it with the latest T-Mobile) and it shows the version I have is the same.
Do I need to reflash it with the ROM that is aleady present on my DASH? Is it worth trying that?
2. Now the step called AppUnlock? Which tool should I use given that I would have the T-Mobile Carrier 6.1 ROM on it (either already or reflash with T-Mobile 6.1 AGAIN)
3. After AppUnlock should I go for the FLASHing guide? Which one would that be?
if you search hard u can find it
sda unlock then put that file in your phone open it
then reboot
then just install it should be all center buttons if your using rickys rom
that's all
to add what are u talking about tmobile 6.1 there is none available from tmobile 6.1

Which one would that be?

a. follow EXACTLY what the guide says. download the files it tells you to (and provides links to). thats why i put PICTURES so you wont have to ask. get the app unlocker from the guide....no need to install anything on the phone..just plug it in via activesync and run the app unlock...it will look like the pictures...then reboot and continue the install
b. tmobile has no 6.1 rom.

Steps to Flash Taiwanese or European ROM on Mainland Chinese T328W
Disclaimer: I m not claiming any credit for the tools. The tools are developed by other smart guys (some based in mainland China), and all the credit goes to them. I am merely collating and translating information here for the benefit of t328w users outside China.
And flashing ROM is a risky process as always. Use it at your own risk and have fun!
This is a general approach, and should work with ROMs or Official RUU from different regional replease or different version. In particular, this method should install the 100% stock version of Taiwanese or European ROM to your phone, without running into the CID unmatched problem. It does not change or upgrade Radio in the process.
REQUIREMENT:
unlocked bootloader
custom recovery
STEPS:
1) Download the pseudo flashing tool: HTC_T328w_1.56.1402.6_BackToOriginal_modified.rar
The download link: http://d-h.st/Hq2
This is a pseudo flashing tool that pretends to behave like the official flashing tool, and thus enable any unlocked phone to flash back a modified version (Slim down and rooted) of the OTA 1.56.1402.6 stock ROM. Don’t worry too much about this ROM as it is only needed as an intermediary process.
2) Unzip the file in a convenient location (e.g. desktop), it should contain several files including a ROM.ZIP.
3) Reboot the phone into “BOOTLOADER” by restarting (or switch on) the phone and pressing “POWER” and “VOLUME DOWN” at the same time. Then go into “FASTBOOT”.
4) Connect the t328w to PC via USB cable. The phone should now display “FASTBOOT USB”
5) Open the file HTC pseudo flashing tool.exe from step 2. Half the interface is in Chinese but don’t worry! It’s straightforward enough. The functions are as follow:
B – Enter Bootloader;
S – go into Flashing Mode
F – Flash the pseudo official ROM
Q – Reboot from Flashing Mode
I – developer’s information
what we need to use are S and F.
6) Press S and ENTER, then Y and ENTER to confirm. This will bring your phone into Flashing Mode. The screen will be displaying a big HTC logo in the middle of it and nothing else.
7) Press F and ENTER, then Y and ENTER to confirm. This will start the pseudo flashing process to flash the content of the ROM.ZIP into your phone.
8) When its done, reboot. The phone will be flashed with the pseudo official ROM.
NOW, THE INTERESTING STEPS:
The tool is created in such a way that you can flash a great variety of different custom ROM as if they are official ROM files. All that needed to be done is change what’s inside of the ROM.ZIP file.
9) Unzip two files from official RUU Taiwan version (PL11IMG_PRIMO_DS_ICS_40A_hTC_Asia_TW_1.59.709.3_Radio_1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U_release_264969_signed): BOOT_SIGNED.IMG and SYSTEM.IMG
see here for the Taiwan RUU url:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1714317
10) Open the ROM.ZIP using WINRAR as it is, do not extract or unpack.
11) Select the BOOT.IMG and SYSTEM.IMG, and click “Delete” on WINRAR.
12) Click “ADD” on WINRAR, and add the two files (“BOOT_SIGNED.IMG “ and “SYSTEM.IMG”) from the official Taiwanese ROM RUU from step 9. (DO NOT RENAME THE BOOT FILES! Leave it as BOOT_SIGNED.IMG). Save it as ROM.ZIP
13) Replace the ROM.ZIP from step 2 with the ROM.ZIP from step 12.
14) Repeat step 3 to step 8.
Alternatively, I have created a ROM_Taiwan.ZIP that was based off step 9-12.
The download link: http://d-h.st/v8B
You can download this file and go straight to step 13.
JOB DONE!
RADIO:
This method works on all radio version. There are mainly two radios version at the moment for the Chinese mainland t328w:
the original t328w is on 1.04.34D.11_20.11.30.11U
the OTA upgraded t328w is on 1.06.34D.05_20.22.30.23U
The 1.06.34D.05_20.22.30.23U is a different radio compared with the Taiwanese or European release. But it is a great bug fixing radio and massively improves the performance of t328w. I am using it in U.K. with no signal problem at all with this radio.
This method will NOT update Radio as the phone itself is S-ON. I am not aware of S-OFF method for this phone at this stage.
To update radio, you need to restore phone to stock Chinese status, do an OTA, and repeat the steps above.
ROOT:
Depends on if you have the OTA or not, the root methods can be different. Several root method that worked on the initial stock version will not work after OTA. See other thread for root methods.
wow, thank you so much, I'm gonna try this when I get home. I've been going crazy with Chinese version (I live in Vietnam) and unable to use Google play! Hopefully it'd work! Thanks again!
Edit: I re-locked my t328w, is it possible to do this with re-locked status?
awesome

I have followed the steps from gfan and mobile01 and flashed the Taiwanese version ROM yesterday. I have tried but failed to translation the method into English. Your traslation is faultless.
bug report after flash the Taiwanese version ROM: Wandoujia (the most popular andriod devices manage software for PC in China) recongnises my T328w as HTC desire (G7) .

unfortunatley there is no real quick solution to this one. the problem is with Wandoujia, not with the ROM.
The ROM will flash your phone into 100% stock Taiwanese or European version. This means in About - Phone identity - phone Model number will be converted into "HTC Desire V" instead of t328w.
Unless wandoujia data base is updated to include Desire V, it won't really identify the phone correctly.
Maybe I should give it a try,Thanks.

edit : oh its an exe file although i think it is what you want to have
Run the .exe until a dialog appears. Leave the program (dont exit) and go to your %temp% folder. There you will find 2 subfolders with a hash ID (look at created date/time to find these). Inside 1 of these folders you will find rom.zip. In this file look for system.img and boot_signed.img
I'm currently trying this procedure to flash the Europe version. I will post the result.
Just installed Europe version. Great it seems to work!
Google play is installed by default.
There seem to be 2 settings for language. I think (although i'am quite new to android) 1 language is for the system language and the other language is for the phone dictionary for messaging.
The system languages provide only a lot of different eastern europe languages and different variants. I (being Dutch) selected Russian English. For the dictionary setting I could see all major European languages.
The phone keypad still has some eastern europe characters. Not that anoying. You can also see 'normal' abc characters.
[deleted, update: after a while I was able to use web interface of google play]. The google play app lets me install all the apps i couldnt install before with the chinese rom.
I'm not sure if the radio has been updated but now I have 2 full bars which I i'am sure wasn't like that with the chinese rom.
So far I'am verry happy!
Still have to test some things that didn't work before.
Edit : cheered too fast. Mobile reception has increased. 3G connection won't go further then GPRS at my house ... which was HSDPA most often. Hopefully because of the bad weather...
Still I do have internet on most of my apps. However browsing doesn't work and randomly apps stop to have an internet connection. However facebook app always works. Anyone any clues why? This was before the ROM update and also after same behavoir.

I think the issue is with ur radio.
Check ur radio version, it sounds like u have the 1st release radio 1.04.34D.11_20.11.30.11U
That radio version has known issue including unstable signal and dropping lines randomly, thats why HTC issued an OTA for this.the OTA upgraded t328w is on 1.06.34D.05_20.22.30.23U.
The European and Taiwanese Desire V has radio 1.05.34D.25_20.20.30.22U and 1.05.34D.29_20.21.30.23U. I m not sure if the 1.06 radio is definitely newer as it could simply be a different regional release, but I would assume the 1.06 is the latest ROM for the t328w variant.
The Desire V is Radio S-On, which means only stock phone with locked bootloader can change radio version. As mentioned in my original post, flashing ROM won't update the radio.
The radio included in t328w s OTA is much better with significant stability improvement, and it worked very well on mine with the Taiwanese ROM. I would recommend restore the phone back to stock, OTA, then reFlash ur European ROM.
What u need to do is the following:
1) Do a backup in CWM recovery
2) relock bootloader
3) get the RUU ( the .exe file) for the first release of the phone, boot ur phone into fastboot, run RUU to restore ur phone to factory states
4) OTA
5) unlock bootloader again
6) flash modified recovery
7) wipe and restore from the backup in step 1. (or reFlash the European or Taiwanese rom from beginning )
I would also recommend root ur phone before starting this process. The OTA locked some partition on the phone, which makes rooting afterwards slightly tricky (ADB won't work any more), but there are still easy way to do it.
Anyway, I ll write another guide for the radio upgrade when I ve got the time.
WORKED
I have a chinese version. I was unable to do anything. Bloat chinese software slowed my phone, and I can't use Google play.
Followed exactly the steps you gave and my t328w has become Desire V. Who cares? As long as everything works, and they are (google play, wifi, 3g, dual sim)
So thank you very much for Russion version (Europe?)
Can u give me another link plz????

Hi Kingdez, many thanks. I think it might be a radio problem. My radio is still 1.04.
I do have the europe RUU which contains radio 1.05. I can't find 1.06 anywhere.
I would love to update the radio.
I will be fine with the procedure except for step 4 and step 6. When you have time could you explain those in detail? Many many thanks!

Not seen this ROM before, interesting as it is generic without regional codes ( HTCCN or Asia..etc). Have u tried taking out the system and boot.img from this file, and replaces them with my what's in my original post?

Once u factory reset with an RUU with a locked bootloader, OTA should ve straight forward. Check for update and accept.
The next 2-3 steps goes back to unlock the phone all over again.
I ll try to put sth together on radio upgrades

Not yet. I think it would work well.
I have unpackaged the system image file and I found some appliactions (Renren, Sina music, Sina weibo, etc.), customized for Chinese users . And NO mobile operators customized apps were found. NO google service apps stocked too.
So I think the name "Generic" is as distingushed from operators customized. It's still for China.
