Hi.
I have a XDA1 running on PPC2002. If I upgrade the rom to WM2003, do I have to do any extra steps before executing the cooked rom from the kitchen in the pc?
Another question is that can we revert back to ppc2002 after upgrading to WM2003 ?
My bootloader is of ver. 5.17
I'm from Singapore.
Thanks.
Raymond
The EXE method might not work with bootloader 5.17 ... but give it a try ... or you can go directly to the SD method
For going back to PPC2002, just cook another ROM and put it back using the same way.
Good luck
I use one sd card to backup current rom using bootloader then ce to sd command, I then use another sd card to flash the new rom, that wa you can always revert to your original rom.
Thanks.
So, its pretty safe to switch rom from ppc2002 to wm2003 and back to ppc2002.
BTW, for those XDA1 users, who had upgraded to WM2003, do you encounter any problem arising from the upgrade?
Thanks.
Raymond
Cooked a WM2003 rom from the kitchen and upgrade through the XDATool method. The upgrade is successful.
However, the phone HARD reset when I browsed through the BAND switching option, without switching the band. Is this normal?
Thanks.
Raymond.

Hi everyone,
A while ago I was stupid and tried to flash my O2 XDA Orbit without fully reading the instructions and therefore ended up "bricking" the device. It turns on but seems to hang on the "O2 Welcome Screen" which shows the following information:
IPL 1.25.0001
SPL 1.25.0000
GSM 02.67.90
OS 1.28.0.0
The device can boot up into the bootloader screen no problems and I have tried to install various ROM's from the German O2 WM6 ROM to the UK T-Mobile WM5 ROM but with no success, it just gets to 3% then reboots.
Does anyone know a way that I can restore the original O2 UK WM5 ROM from the bootloader? Or at least get it working again?
At this point there is no O2 Rom avaliable, you will have to wait till they finally release the WM6 Rom sometime this Summer.

Thank you however I have tried the above instructions but my device just gets to 3% then reboots.
Does anyone know what the MTTY.EXE software is all about and is there any way that I can manually force the device to Flash using this?
Or!!!!!
Is there a way for me to clone a mates xda orbit and drop the image onto mine? Both were purchased at the same time just I thought i'd be clever and update mine which didn't quite work out.
Have you already tried to flash a rom by using your microSD card ?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_SD_Card_Flashing
try to flash it from sd card if your orbit is cid unlocked
not sure
I dont think my device is cid unlocked as it would have worked with the updated rom install, wouldn't it? sorry pretty new to all this.
I have tried to flash straight from the sd card but it just searches through the sd card then goes straight to the multicoloured bootloader screen.
Anyother ways or is there a better rom that i could use?
Hi,
- I'm stuck into the first splashscreen
- I can get into bootloader mode
- When trying to run USPL it hangs at 50... with 2 errors
The only solution I know is the factory rom (DUTCH ORIGINAL HTC ROM - not branded) but it wasn't delivered with the device on cd
Does anyone know if it's possible to flash a backed up rom from my mini-sd card from the bootloader? or get into dos from bootloader to type a command to run the exe file maybe?
ORIGINAL DUTCH HTC ROM (NON BRANDED) WM2003, WM5 or WM6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If anyone has or can find a non branded original dutch HTC rom, would be great to help me (and lots of other people). Sending in your device is 6 weeks waiting, did it last time. So the repair service has the original rom, I wonder why this isn't available online, there are so many roms downloadable online from different operators, but no original dutch HTC rom ?!?
I think I can flash back with succes, even if it was an older original HTC rom (WM2003 or SE or WM5 or WM6).
Anyone can help all the people that are stuck with the dutch original rom? or other people that are stuck and want to flash from their backups from bootloader?
Hope to receive some serious answers from experienced 'senior' xda users
Thanks for your help!

Found it myself
Format SD card at FAT 32 with PC
put .nbh image on sd card
reset to bootloader (reset + left button above holding & let loose reset).
but same problem, rom has to be the original... not available by htc..
Hi All,
I've been playing around with various WM6 ROM's but I have now decided to sell the phone (I want a Kaiser!), anyway whats the best way of reverting back to the original HTC booloader & WM5 ROM. I ask this because I still have valid warranty but only if HTC never find any traces of different ROM's??
I assume I would use ROM
HTC English HTC__001 1.23.405.2 1.07.0000 1.38.00.11 ??
but what about the bootloader??
Any advice would be a real help
Cheers

You should have the original ROM on your phone just hard reset it using the key combination to reinstall...

incorrect.. hard resetting will just wipe your data, not revert your ROM to original factory ROM
if you have the official ROM from your manufacturer, it should come with SPL packaged in it.. run SSPL manually and then run the official ROM update
I thought that part of the ROM comes with a hidden partition of WM5 so that in event of problems you could reflash back as it says in the manual? This is quoted in many threads! ie. Flash WM6 as much as you want and in event of problems just restore back to original state.
Yes but by flashing the orginial WM5 that cane with the device...
If you flash with WM6 the "Hidden" section will restore WM6 i.e. whats on the device..
so what would be good then is if there was a simple tool for backing up a rom to a PC like the one Orange used to do instead of all the command line converstions etc...
if one enter the bootloader and format the reg and storage that way
it's like an old fasion hardreset
everything will go back to the org rom settings
but never to a former rom if one have flashed it to a new one
hence is the a way we can simply backup our present ROM exactly as we have it now before flashing?
you can do a dump of your ROM to make a backup of it.. although it's a bit troublesome. Depending on your carrier, they may actually have your official ROM on their site, or it may be in the wiki, so not everyone needs a ROM dump
yep.. but if you changed WM5 and installed progs exactly as you wanted it then its good to get a backup...
umm.. yeah... i guess that goes without saying. you could use sprite or something.. then flash the same original wm5 rom and restore your backup
yes but would be more handly to create a flashable rom backup
So, I got my hand on an Uni G4 (xda exec) that has 6.5 on it... I want to downgrade to the Tmo UK WM5 rom.
How do I know if I have to unlock the sim and cid (again)?
Under what circumstances would the sim and/or cid be re-locked (after it had been unlocked)?
And how do I know if I should do a DOC format? I see that there are a few ROMs that once installed require a DOC format if you want to change the ROM again.
And I did search the forums first, and could find the answers I need. I'm still checking up on the ROM that is currently installed on my Uni - 5.2.23016 (5.3.0 Luca16)
TIA!
Once it has flashed the 1st cooked ROM it has to be full unlocked, no need to do it again so you can downgrade without any problem os locking sim.
Have a look here to get one great wm5 ROM

Hope it helped,
Awsome!

Im new to flashing on win mobile based phones and i just needed to know a few things
1.Do i hard reset after the upgrade has completed auto customization or in the middle of boot up process?
2.I used the sim and cid unlocker v3 and it automatically flashed SPL 1.40 OLIPro, can i upgrade to HARDsplv7 without losing Super CID and unlocked sim attributes?
3.Im using a windows vista comp and i realize every time i revert to cingular stock rom i cannot upgrade i get errors, does it work if i run the wrapper in compatibility mode?
Im Using a Cingular 8525 Thanks for the help
here's what i knew;
1- i think you should do the hard reset thing when you see the screen calibration applet, i used to do it by that.... but for 2 and 3.....nothing much i could help.....got few ideas in mind but wont say it....i dont really want to trash your valuable hermes....i suppose you should wait for a better man to help you....regards

Answers:
1.- This is my way to flash and is prettie fast
-Flash stripped att stock rom, it boots, and fast put it into Bootloader when you see red words
-Flash your new custom rom, and fast do hardreset when you see the red words
2.- Yes you can... sorry... you MUST!!! to change to V7 just flash it as any other rom
3.- The main suggestion is to run the wrapper in XP i never tried before compatibilitie with XP execution on Vista, but you can try or... put a JAVA emulator machine in your vista... and run a virtual XP machine and do upgrades in the virtual JAVA machine
