Hi,
we're using MDAI + II (various OS/ROM versions) with Xtnd connect syncing to lotus notes. A big problem for the syncronisation with these group tools seems to be changing from timezones with daylight saving (dls) to timezones without dls. The results are appointments moving ยด+1/-1 hour in lotus notes calendar.
This seems to be a known problem (see Microsoft KB 184253 -Appointment Times Not Properly Updated When Changing Home City).
Mostly the change of timezones happens accidently without the users notice (so they say :-o ). O.K, my idea is to prevent user access to the clock settings. Does anyone know how to do this??
I tried a tool called RegKingPlus, but I didn't figured out which registry settings are changed. Deploying this tool is not an appropriate soloution.
I would be very thankful for any ideas!!
Greets,
Marko

Hi!
I've been researching the last, dunno, 6hours or so...
I'm quite desperate now, so here's what's up:
-I use a HTC BlueAngel (MDA III)
-made a full backup with ActiveSync (I knooow I should have used whatever 3rd party backup tool... too f**ing late)
-successfully upgraded the system to "Helmi_WM2k5_AKU3.2_32mb_v1.3.2_16mb_bitpool_32mbRamdisk"
-been happy for like 5 minutes
-so I started to get my contacts and calendar restored (still had all my files/pictures - cool)
and then it struck me: ActiveSync 4.x cannot restore these infos to the WM5 system!!
Sooo, after some diggin' on the net I finally got "MobileVault"...
I thought, yipeee, I have succesfully exported my Contacts Database and Appointments Database to my PC...
(I just opened my backup.stg and opened WinCE Databases, selected Contacts Database - which I attached - and exported okay)
Meanwhile (on a remote island in the Pacific... =P) I found out, that both Contacts and Appointments are stored in the "pim.vol" in WM5.
(also attached that)
Well, let's just put'em in there then...
Khmmm... so... put-em-in... Nope. Not workin'.
Also I've been playing around with conveting the exported Contacts DB file into CSV (comma separated format) and importing to Outlook.
Annoying is, that I see the stuff what I need... but it's over 200 entries with 2-6 data each! (don't bother multiplying: it' a LOT)
Only problem was that there doesn't seem to be a recognisable logic in the order of the data... Once the email address is first and name is like 5th, then mobile number is first, etc...
Cannot import to Outlook.
PLEASE! I soooooo don't want to reinstall the PPC2003 again just to export the stuff into outlook and back again.
There MUST be somekind of solution. I feel I'm pretty close to the solution, but I'm just too tired to continue right now.
I'll also try attach as many as possible.
Thanks for any help in advance!
i have same problem...and im unlucky one cos...i upgrade my sx66 device from wm2003 to wm5 and can u imagine...after i upgrade my PC OS crushes down...so all my sync gone...so i have on storage backup files maked with permament save before...so im wandering can i pull them back somehow...i need my contacts (
I've installed bepe's WWE WM6 ROM for a while now. I'm have a lot of troubles with the pre-installed live messenger. I can't change my name, can't change screen image, the program freezes when i try to log in, online users are shown as offline, my email doesn't arrive (with push email), in short: looks like a crappy program to me. But i don't hear much complaints in the forum here. Are some of you experiencing this problems also with B&B ROM?
Btw: i've tried all basic advices: turning shared screen-image in the desktop messenger, clearing the password, switching users...no results...
Hi,
Some people seem to suggest this comes from an incompatibility issue between the thumbnail (user image) format on Windows and Windows Mobile. I'm however not so sure about this. I've bumbed into this issue several times and the only way to work around is by switching 'accounts' and just logging in to the same account again after picking this option.
The problem happens on all WM6 ROMs I tried so don't even bother trying different versions, unless perhaps an official WWE ROM is released.
Grtzzzzz Roel..

i seem to have found a solution
I have a dutch version of Live Messenger installed on my computer, (because i come from holland ), so i can't give you the exact option names. But i'll try to explain:
In Live Messenger (on your desktop) there are two options:
- showing screen image to other users (your msn contacts)
- keeping screen image and personal message always the same, wherever you login
the last option seems to do the trick: put it OFF on your desktop Messenger. Now i can sync, change nickname, screen image, personal message and see all online users on my P3300!
EDIT:
CRAP! Yesterday no troubles, now i'm not able to see any online users this program is driving me mad! I ll wait for a newer version before wasting any time on it...good job microsoft
i have tried several versions of Messenger, none of which work properly. looked though other forums, none had an answer, that i could see. i have been using Shapesoft IM+, it works, but nowhere near as nice as Messenger used too.
I hope the new HTC ROM will bring the solution...
Hi Guys,
I'm using a TP2 with the latest Energy Rom (Build 21885, Manila 2.1) (used NRG-Roms since I bought my phone 3 months ago).
I sync it regularly with MS Outlook 2007 @ Win7.
I didn't figure out the exact circumstances, but sometimes when I edit a contact with the manila interface, the Contact gets not edited accordingly but instead a new contact will be created with the new data and the old contact stays the same. I noticed this not only In the recent build but since the beginning. I try to avoid editing contacts on the phone, but it is very uncomfortable to fix this at outlook any time (which works, but sucks).
Strange, that I seem to be the only one with this problem? I can't find anything about this on the forums.
Thank you in Advance for Help!
Regards, Time
Hello fellow XDA members,
Last week I flashed my favorite ROM to it's newest version again and once again I had to put some settings right and all. Now, this is nothing new and you can let the process be done for you with tools already availabe. However, I'm not pleased with the options given by the different apps to be set!
Synchronizing different data is one of the most important features on any smartphone at the moment in my opinion. Some you like to do manually, but lots of them you just let go on schedule. This is where my problem popped up. Quick searching didn't give any results, so I decided to start this tread. Example of a problem: you have to set every app to roaming or not and give them a refresh rate.
My idea/project I would like to start is making an app that has the following features:
setting up syncing schedules with the following options:
selecting days on which it syncs
timespan for synchronisation
refresh rate
roaming/no roaming
toggle list for assigning installed syncable programs fast and easy
assigning apps to different schedules
menu item for a list of schedules (with a subtext which programs follow and list of programs (with a subtext which schedule they follow)
Manila styled menus for known user interface
detection of different already syncing apps or syncable apps on the phone (adding them to the program list but not importing schedules since those would spam the list)
menu option to stop all syncing so everything is manual (useful when roaming but wanting to sync on demand)
import/export settings and automatic importing settings from the XDA_UC folder on install
making internet connection on sync and if it was off before turning it off after sync (don't know if some apps do this already, but then the turning off has to wait until the end of all synchronization)
option to show pop-up on sync fail with an option to retry in a given time or automatic retry time
I had some more features in mind but they fail to pop up right now.
What this solves:
schedules all crossing eachother which makes your phone connecting to and disconnecting from the internet all day (some have 3h option, some 4h)
unnessecary syncs, for example during your sleep
hopefully more options for selecting sync times (like with the FB-tab which can't go higher than 99)
one menu serving all the main apps on your phone
if importing settings on install works: no need to set everything up again, never!
There's only one big problem:
I'm not a developer and have no idea of any coding for WM devices at all. I do have some basic insight in structures and can help searching for entries and locations of different settings/manual sync triggers, but not much more than that. I'd like to see how this works during the project if there are others out there who like this app and a developer to take the big job!
Coding challenges I expect:
I think it has to set the apps assigned to a schedule to "manual" in the offical app/tab and has to trigger the manual synchronisation when schedule starts. If we really get into the core of other apps too: we could add the option "XDA_Sync schedule" to the drop down menus which pops up a schedule selector for the app. This way you could enable the automatic sync in the tab and the "roaming" item should be grayed out because that's fixed in the XDA_Sync schedule.
Locating all syncing.
Different devices (I have a Touch Pro2)
So: Good idea?
And: Any developer willing to take the challenge?
P.S. Not sure if I'm allowed to use the "XDA" part in the name, thread name could then be changed to "Cell_Sync" or something similar.
First, let me say I promise I have searched extensively both inside and outside of XDA to try and find an answer - but haven't stumbled on these actual problems. And apologies up front for the long explanation - I've tried to include information which might be relevant (build numbers etc). Also - I've enough IT knowledge to be dangerous but not enough to be a support person or developer .
On PC - Outlook 2013 (from a download of Office365 Home Premium). Extensively use Categories and Appointments (but NEVER meetings)
On service provider - Hosted MS Exchange 2010. Using for email, calendar, tasks and contacts sync just for me (my devices, no "corporate" involved).
Wifi - is my own router and everything else normally works a-OK.
On Samsung Galaxy N7105 which has been rooted, and using default apps for email, contacts and calendar (S Planner):
a) Sync will ONLY happen if I change the device's date to that where the Exchange server is (UK and I'm traveling in Australia at the moment which is a real faff).
b) Sync will NEVER happen via WIFI - at all... ever! (an even bigger faff, and expensive on roaming data)
c) Sync with eMail (default app) seems to work OK most of the time, as does Contacts (default app), but Calendar (default app - S Planner) does not work after the very first sync.
d) The first time a sync is done (by setting up the Exchange account [again and again and again.... you get the drift]) the Calendar entries do come through but they are:
- Not acknowledging there are Categories (Outlook) which worked OK the very, very first time I got this set up - they came across as Groups - now no longer.
- Changing Appointments (Outlook) into Events if edited on the Samsung. Worse still, they are randomly being changed to Meetings.
For the record - Contacts syncs well every time and even keeps Groups/Categories.

Not sure if I there is any other information required
Many, many thanks, in advance, for any assistance offered.
[ps: I note in these fora that there is usually some bright spark whose only "answer" is to ridicule the choice of the way something is being done and/or the products being used. I had my reasons for choosing the Outlook/Hosted Exchange/Android "group". Would you mind, awfully, not bothering with that kind of "help" this time. I would be ever so grateful.]
