Hello Everyone,
There is a very excellent forum topic for Linux on the Universal (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=251584). I was wondering if we could start a similar one for the Blue Angel. I recently installed Opie II (Qtopia) on my Blue Angel from http://www.linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/ and it looks good, I was just wondering what the status was.
Thank you,
Tim
Hmmm, this looks interesting.
So from my reading of the Universal thread and the scant txt files I have found do I take it you copy the Haret and image files to the root of your sd card and then run haret?
Looks easy... too easy!
Steve
I have tried to start linux with different linux images on my blue angel but without success.
Maybe linux couldn't run with windows mobile 6 pro on blueangel ?
harat cans start but X-Windows (and Opie ...) freezes. Does anyone have the same experiences ?
Which files do I need to copy to the SD card? There is a .rar.gz file, do I need to extract that file in my computer? Thanks.
i haved used some images from here:
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/htcblueangel/
zImage-2.6.21-hh20-r6-htcblueangel.bin
and it works.
But there is no wifi driver loaded.
My question is how can i insert/load wifi driver to this image ?
http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/angstrom-ba/images/htcblueangel/
it works.
But linux seems slower as windows mobile.

linux is only the kernel. GPE seems to be slower than wince.
Try qtopia, it writes directly to the framebuffer, so it is the
fastest linux phone GUI.

Problem with Qtopia not Recognizing SIM
Hello Everyone,
I loaded Qtopia on my BA and it works pretty good, but it doesn't recognize the SIM card and it says "No Modem Connection" and "No VoIP Connection." Any idea how to fix this?
Thanks,

The same happens to me, but phone works OK for this build whith GPE "http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/an.../htcblueangel/"
Log as root and start "Phone" app (is gomunicator).
I tried Qtopia (http://www.linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/) and GPE. GPE seems more intuitive for me.
Hi, there!
I already tried everthing to get my phone workin but still get no success
I think there is a problem with my audio cause it mostly even plays no sound
i already tried booting with haret while playing a sound or maybe its a wm6 problem?
maybe anyone knows?!

newest gpe based soft doesn't allow calling. Starting gomunicator it says 'cannot open connection to phone module in /dev/ttyS0: permission denied'.
I've been trying and searching for the correct /dev/ttySx, but none of them seem to work.
Anyone using a working gpe setup, where gomunicator works?
Can you let me know where to set what config option?
Thanks!

/dev/ttyS0 is correct for the GSM
You need to apply some patches and changes that you can see at http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/BlueAngelHowtoInstallLinux , section "Some setup hints"
See below ...
The phone speaker will be silent during calls until you set the mixer settings of "Output Mux" to "Mixer", either via alsamixer or by using a proper /etc/asound.state file (eg. http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/angstrom-ba/asound.state).
Even with a correct /etc/asound.state file you have to restore that state before running the phone application (tested with gomunicator):
/etc/init.d/alsa-state start
It seems that after a suspend/resume cycle the mixer value needs to be set again.
If you dont run gpe as root (by creating a user on the first startup), you have no access to the serial device /dev/ttyS0. fix this by adding group "dialout" to addgroups line of /etc/gpe/gpe-login.conf so that it contains:
addgroups audio,video,dialout
Please, let us to know if it works for you.
I'm considering to prepare an installation with the Albrecht's patches ( http://www.algepop.net/users/alge/angstrom-ba/images/htcblueangel/ ) and put it on some server. It's the BA Linux that worked better for me.
Searching posts, it seems that cr2 and goxboxlive has more experience on this port.
Hi,
I just upload a new version with phone support + some tools. Phone support is still in developpement ( phone call/receive works, but only sms receive works ) GPRS is working too. Just change your current GPRS profile password and DNS.
I'll try to upload later an image like it is done on HTC Unviersal with an autoinstall.
http://linuxtogo.org/~htcpxa/htcblueangel/Qtopia.
Notice that actually this works fine on Blueangel Board ID 5.
To remember what is your board id please look here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BlueangelBoardIDs or just start linux image and look at cat /proc/cpuinfo.
And to finish Qtopia is faster than Windows Mobile
Good luck
Fabrice
Hi Fabrice.
I tested your build. It's really great and fast, thanks!
I have some questions: when I make/receive calls I can ear the other part but I need to cry to the microphone if I want that the other part ears me. You noticed something similar?
Also I don't know how to suspend/resume with this version. With algepop's GPE it worked (sometimes) for me.
My board id is 0x5

I think qtopia is not sending some AT command to the phone which adjusts the mic gain.

Yes, microphone need some attention, need to look at it. Have to look like cr2 say around AT command.
For your suspend issue it is because Qtopia is set to shutdown alone after some seconds by default, just look in Settings-> LIgh icon -> battery and set greater value.
Actually i don't know why power button as no effect for suspend. Anyway it works to power on device after suspend just press it and be carefull to check if your backlight settings are ok ( i do this mistake many times ).
In next version i just add support for messenging system and try to look at power button too.
regards
Fabrice
I'd love to try Qtopia on my BA, but I'm running Vista on my laptop...not Linux...is there any other way to do this from Windows?

Hello people,
I've been working on an SMS over IP application, but I decided to make it native, meaning replacing the WM sms dll with mine. It will work with any provider that supports the following url to send an SMS:
https://www.voipbuster.com/myaccount/sendsms.php?username=%0&password=%1&from=%2&to=%3&text=%4
or
https://www.exetel.com.au/sendsms/api_sms.php?username=%0&password=%1&mobilenumber=%3&message=%4&sender=%2&messagetype=Text
where:
%0 stands for username
%1 stands for password
%2 stands for from number
%3 stands for to number
%4 stands for text
You need to add te following keys to your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\url:
Type is REG_SZ, value is the complete url with placeholders, see the above examples
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\username:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your username
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\password:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your password
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\from:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your phone number validated by your voip provider in international format, e.g. +9012345689
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\option:
Type is REG_DWORD, value is one of the following:
0 = Use internet only, don't fallback to gsm
1 = If internet sending fails, automatically send it over gsm
2 = If internet sending fails, popup a confirmation box before sending over gsm
3 = Don't use IP, send it over gsm
4 = Ask first what to do
5 = Use IP only for international sms
bit4: set = automatically establish internet connection if not already available
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Drizzt\SMSoIP\prefix:
Type is REG_SZ, value is your country code (e.g. 90 for Turkey, 32 for Belgium, 49 for Germany, ...)
Thanks to oruam57 for developing the configurator so that you don't need to edit the registry manually. He also compiled everything into the attached cab installer.
WARNING. This cab installer may cripple your phone. READ BELOW! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
This cab installer overwrites \Windows\sms.dll. Original SMS functionality is supposed to be offered by the new file \Windows\sms_orig.dll that is a copy of sms.dll from a WM6.1 phone.
If you happen to have problems:
- extract sms.dll from the image of the ROM of your phone (search in the forum about how to do it);
- rename it to sms_orig.dll;
- install the cab and DO NOT soft reset;
- overwrite \Windows\sms_orig.dll with the sms_orig.dll from your ROM;
- soft reset.
CHANGELOG V1.7
- New option = 5, use IP only for international sms
- Fixed: Multiline bug
- Fixed: MessageBox going to background
- Changed url format, added placeholders
CHANGELOG V1.6
Fixed: Bug when sending to a foreign country
CHANGELOG V1.5
Establish data connection automatically if wifi connection is not available
Tested and works on a Touch Pro also.

Are you on a stock rom? Try installing SDKCert.cab (search in the forum). You could try disabling threaded sms. Another thing you could try is to extract the sms.dll file from the image of the rom you are using (search in the forum about how to do it), and rename it to sms_orig.dll and use it instead of the one from my zip (you still need to use my sms.dll).
Thanks for your answer.

I suppose I can. I'll report as soon as possible.
Something very strange happened!
I used total commander to overwrite the sms.dll in ROM with your sms.dll, then I soft reset and all started right, including manila.
I was surprised so I listed the windows directory using total commander and there were a sms.dll (lower case) and a SMS.DLL (upper case)! From dates and attributes it seems that sms.dll is the original ROM file and SMS.DLL is your file.
It seems that the original sms.dll is in use (sms are sent and received as usual) but the problem is that total commander now refuse to delete, rename or overwrite both sms.dll and SMS.DLL Never saw something like that!
For the moment I'm stuck, I do not know how solve this situation and can not do more tests on your hack

Ok, crisis solved (sktools did not see the "double" file but I found a procedure with total commander), back to work.
After overwriting sms.dll with your sms.dll and renaming the dump of my original sms.dll to sms_orig.dll I soft resetted.
As expected manila refused to load. Then I run tmail.exe and sent a test sms. Unfortunately nothing happened. I also consulted my voipbuster log and no sms activity was present.

Hi there,
I'm facing with a strange problem with Galaxy Gio (formerly branded TIM [Italy], now it's no brand/sim unlocked). Any SIM I've tried, it takes no signal - so I can't make phone calls - but I can connect to data network!! (obviously, these SIMs works properly on other phones).
It's been a while that I'm finding solutions on this board - and on others. I've changed many ROMs, both Stock and Custom (I've tried Russian, Portuguese, Polish, Italian and German stock ROMs in order to try different basebands)
Recently, I'm trying to see some settings on "Service Mode" hidden menu (code *#197328640#). I've seen in "Debug Screen" - "MM Information" that rej_cause is 0x6. According to this site http://www.biss.bloger.hr/post/mm-rejection-cause-description-1/6596587.aspx, it means
Cause value = 6 Illegal ME
This cause is sent to the MS if the ME used is not acceptable to the network, e.g. blacklisted. When used by an MM procedure, this cause does not affect operation of the GPRS service.

It's very strange because every SIM that I've tried works like a charm on any other phone.
Must I change any settings in Service Mode?
Thanks in advance.

I've checked my IMEI number on "Numbering Plans" website and it seems to be correct (also on "AMTA" website it reports me that it's unblocked). Furthermore, it matches to what is under my battery.

Code:
Why the /efs folder?
This is a very sensitive system folder that contains Phone-specific information such as the IMEI (encrypted in the nv_data.bin), wireless devices MAC addresses, product code (also in the nv_data.bin), and much more. Often users trying to change product codes or trying to unlock the mobile will end up corrupting data in this location.
are you sure your IMEI is correct?
losing or corrupting EFS should also give a wrong IMEI like 00000 or something
I'm sure of it, indeed when in dialer I digit *#06#, it returns me the same IMEI number that I have under the battery (and it's not 00000 or something).
Is there any method to recover EFS data?

From what I see, efs partition exists on my phone, but it's not mounted at boot (that's why before I have to mount it manually with mount –o nosuid,ro,nodev –t vfat /dev/block/stl5 /efs ) . I don't know if it's corrupted, is there any way to check it?

I am flashing a sprint epic 4g touch to page plus. I got the voice and text part without any problem. However, after I used a donor phone to get PPP password and HA/AAA secrets. I could not write them in. Every time after wrote them using DFS trial version, reading will come back blank, no matter what I do. Anyone knows why and how to write them?
I could not write DMU 10.key using EFS explorer either. QPST EFS explorer could not even list the directory. After I created a DMU folder and dropped 10.key into the folder, the 10.key file would disappear every time after reboot. Any idea?
Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Did you write the SLP and the samsung password before you tried to write things?
There is a lot of good info on this thread about porting the phone to other service.
It is very hard to read those keys, so if you are writing them you can use the DFS log to see if you are getting errors when you try to read them (if you are using dfs to write them...)

Hi everyone,
I downloaded and installed the OTA manually using the instructions here. Everything went fine, but after restarting the Wifi does not work. If I go to settings and flip the switch, it flips, but soon moves back into the off position.
Any ideas what I can check, what could be causing this? Thanks!
Just noticed the MAC address for Wifi reads 02:00:00:00:00:00, like the device is not recognised. There's a discussion about this and related problems here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Qbeb7ZP0wOw

08-31 15:07:29.997 859 7849 D WifiService: setWifiEnabled: true pid=11646, uid=1000
08-31 15:07:35.069 522 857 E WifiHW : Failed to write wlan fw path param (No such device)
08-31 15:07:35.075 859 3272 E WifiStateMachine: Failed to reload STA firmware java.lang.IllegalStateException: command '2325 softap fwreload wlan0 STA' failed with '400 2325 SoftAP command has failed'
08-31 15:07:35.078 859 859 E WifiController: WifiControllerWifi turn on failed
I've been unable to find anything related online, but a lot of other people over at the Nexus product forums have this problem after upgrading. Can someone identify the error from these messages?
Thanks!

Yes to both of your first two questions. When flashing factory image files one by one, only userdata.img affects that. Use the factory image.

Flash factory image (boot.img, vendor.img, system.img) does not help my Nexus 5x (WiFi wrong MAC address)

Thanks for trying that xbing6. My phone is still OEM locked so I'd like to try and fix this without removing the lock if possible. Unlikely, I know. I found a post where someone has resolved the problem by gaining root and doing a strange series of flashes and setting modifications:
http://chromloop.com/2016/08/how-to-fix-wifi-problem-updating-android-7-0-nougat/
Does anyone more knowledgeable care to theorize about how this happened and if there is anything we can do, beyond the root method or waiting for Google?
probably a hardware issue...
Hi there!
Does your WiFi keep flashing/blinking and showing "Turning on..."?
For example, like in this video: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2cuyjt_nexus-5-turning-wifi-on-frozen-problem_tech
I had a very similar problem on my G2 and I believe that these WiFi/BT problems are common to all LG devices, probably due to poor quality WiFi/BT chips used.
Did you drop your device? Did you leave it charging over a longer period, for example, during the night, and observed it getting very warm, or even hot, during the process?
I believe the root cause of your problem is a hardware issue. Someone in the forums suggested that replacing the battery may solve the problem; I can't confirm nor deny this, you might want to try it out.
Also, you might want to check out a detailed summary I've written about this issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/qa-wifi-stuck-mac-020000000000-g2-g3-g4-t3452133
Let us know if you managed to fix the problem!
Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas NimbleWeasel. I doubt it though - the wifi went from functioning perfectly to non-functional immediately after applying the update. Never been dropped, less than 2 months old, and doesn't get excessively hot. Google has now reached out to me for a bug report so I'll hopefully hear more from them soon and update this thread.
keep us posted!
Hi strophy,
What about the link, did you watch the video? Does your phone show the effect as in the video?
After reading through the posts again, I think that you might indeed be experiencing a different problem.
I am curious to see what Google will reply!

Hey mate, no my problem is quite different. Firstly, that video is a Nexus 5 running Android 4.x I think? I'm on Nexus 5X running Android 7.0. The wifi switch slides into the on position, stays there for 5 seconds, then slides back by itself. No hotspots are shown at any time. The MAC address also looks like the photo in this post: http://chromloop.com/2016/08/how-to-fix-wifi-problem-updating-android-7-0-nougat/
I don't think my problem is a hardware problem. Let's see what Google says...
My Wifi drops and reconnects whenever I take the phone out of my pocket and open an app that uses data. My data usage has gone up significantly with the Wifi drops. Appears there's others having problems on google product forums with no workaround at this time.
Any help would be appreciated!
ETA: My MAC address appears normal, not the one posted in other forums.
