Recently I went back to my A50 after using an iPhone 7 Plus because the terrible battery of the iPhone and iOS were driving me crazy. I re-flashed stock and I'm having a huge battery drain. I woke up at 8:40 AM and it was at 100%, two minutes in and it was at 97%, and now it's 10:25 AM and it's at 54%, so I went to Device care and found out an app called "Media storage" (Almacenamiento multimedia because it's in Spanish) is using 26% of battery and it keeps going up. Google told me to restrict storage usage but I can't find the app info anywhere on the Settings app. Could it be because of the OneDrive gallery sync? I just disabled it but I don't see any changes.
Also yesterday I received the April security update idk why so late, can it be for that reason?
It's gotten even worse after limiting background usage and erasing cache like even Samsung recommended, tbh I don't know what I should do other than downgrade or factory reser

Hi, my g3 has this problem where the battery seems to drain very fast on moderate to minimal use. When it's in use I use it for browsing the Internet and maybe Facebook, nothing too energy burning, yet it burns the battery like I'm using it for a demanding task. The battery usage has nothing unusual (I don't think) just 39% and the rest is split between tasks. What might be causing this? Since the start of typing this thread is gone from 25 percent to 8 percent, and is very hot again. What might be causing this?
LG G3 d855
16 gb
2gb ram
Android 5.0
Also has one other problem where there is 5gb being used in the misc section for 'system' is this normal? Because that's a large portion of the 16gb gone.
Thanks in advance.
hi, did you make a hard reset to your phone after upgrading to 5.0?
I bought the phone with it all installed so I can only presume that they did that themselves, it was definitely factory reset when I bought it, I know that much.

I have to revive this thread because the battery life on this phone just renders it useless. I temporarily downgraded from lollipop to kitkat which improved the battery life hugely, I've now rooted it and installed a custom rom (cloudyg3) and the battery life is once again awful. Can anyone suggest anything? The phone is used on and off throughout the day, but even on standby it burns the battery.
Thanks

Use battery info in setting to find out which app eat more battery. After that remove that app (if you dont need it, of course)

The screen uses the most at 29 percent followed by messenger at 13 percent and Spotify at 10 percent, I use Spotify most the time, messenger is quite important too. Also the battery seems to have a rapid drain directly after its been on charge, that then levels out after a good 30 percent is gone.

This might sound odd, but have you checked your accounts in settings to make sure nothing is syncing indefinitely? I've had several customers with issues related to their Google account (or sometimes other accounts on the phone) constantly attempting to sync without ever completing. For example, under one customer's Google account settings, the sync wheel next to "Sync Contacts" would never stop spinning (or would remain stuck on the screen). His phone was quite warm, and his battery life was awful.
Unchecking the affected box, rebooting the phone, and re-enabling sync AFTER ensuring that the phone wasn't heating up for any other reason appeared to fix the issue. I've seen similar issues with non-Google accounts as well.

It's definitely not a syncing problem, there isn't really much for my phone to sync to be honest, and i rarely get the syncing wheel on the screen.
Today, my battery died in 2 hours from a full charge, all i was using it for was mapmyride (which tracked me using gps) and for some reason facebook messenger used 23% even though I haven't used it. I think i'm just going to downgrade to 4.4.4 i'm sick of these battery problems.
Poor Battery Life in LG G3 after 5.0 update
Hi I am using the same model and facing the same issue. I downgraded it to kitkat and rooted my phone and installed CM12 Rom. Now the battery life is very good..
Anybody else having battery drain since Lollipop? Running stock/S-0ff non rooted. Noticed it eating battery faster so I did the factory reset and restored with htc backup, got better for a few days, now it seems to be eating battery again. Usually I can stream music all day through my bluetooth speaker and go home with over 50%, lately by 10am I'm down to 60-70%.
I've noticed as well. I've had to start using the battery saver app to help.
I ended up doing a full reset again and did not restore with htc backup. seems to be better. Android system was draining pretty heavily in percentage but only had about 20 minutes of actual run time according to the system.
I'm back to easily a full day from charge after turning off location services. I scaled that back a bit and am using appops to turn off location services in particular apps as well, after that and removing my T-Mobile account my battery life is back what it was. That being said this phone hands down is the best battery life on any phone I've ever owned.
After my original phone went into bootloops after the marshmallow update, I got a replacement within 1 day (thanks, AT&T, they really surprised me with customer service on this one). Unfortunately, my replacement has been full of issues. For starters, I used to get maybe 1% per hour max battery drain with idle and screen off with location and sync on (would be 97-99% in the morning if it was 100% before sleep), but now it is 5+% per hour, same battery as before, even switching it with my spare, no difference. I have Greenify installed and have a decent number of things greenified, but I don't want to have to also turn off location and sync just to get still worse battery life than I had before. A factory reset did not fix the issue. Google Play Services seems to inexplicably be taking more battery than phone idle now but it is not enough to be explaining this battery issue fully.
Also, I get lag in various applications, including pre-installed system applications. Most noticeably, Chrome and Chrome Beta have the same issue of freezing 3-10 seconds before the page is completely loaded which is an extreme nuisance. Reinstalling the apps and clearing the cache/data did not help. Various system applications run with lag too. I moved some applications to the SD card and the settings app was lagging so terribly it crashed a few times.
Any ideas to my phone woes?
First let me give you my phones state
Full stock
Was on Feb update, yesterday (after 2 days of the issue) manually flashed through android recovery to march update and bug fixes.
Not rooted.
The past 3 days my nexus 5x battery has been draining very rapidly (97% down to 32% last night), nothing has changed in the system that i've done and no apps updated aside from google docs and amazon I think. I had installed a few new apps (All4 and iPlayer)) but have since removed these to remove them from a list of culprits. Prior to this battery life was brilliant.
Currently in the process of resetting to factory to see if the issue is more deeprooted. If this fails however im not sure what else it could be besides my battery dying.

Check what drains your battery. I had simillar problem.
When I opened the battery screen i saw quite large drain from some service 10112
I was able to open the service and notice it had something to do with GPS and it basically turned the GPS on without my permision (i had gps turned off)
Then i noticed it even set the GPS to high accuracy and that caused the drain. I switched the gps setting to battery saving and the problem was fixed.
However, I still havent fixed it fully because last night it turned itself on again, and my battery dropped from 79% to 65% within hour.
I did the same thing and it stopped the drain again.
Ok thanks will see if it happens tonight after full reset, I did check battery screen but the highest on there was Google play services and even that wasn't that high (4% and some small mah figure).
I permanently leave my location on battery save and previously have had no issues.
Did you restore from a previous backup? Do you have Snapchat?
No backup as not rooted etc. No snapchat.
Just reset device and reinstalled. All seems fine over the weekend no unusual battery drain.
Hi All
Disclaimer: I'm new to the forum so apologies if this is in the wrong discussion area etc!
I got my Galaxy S9 on Friday 9th, prior to that I had an LG G5 which is now gone. In the last few months of using my LG G5 the battery life was questionable - the phone would get hot (sometimes without even using it a lot) and the battery would drain by 30% an hour. I noticed, but didn't test fully, that Google Play Music seemed to really cane the battery and phone - i.e. was getting hot and draining quickly. As an example, I'd leave home at 7am taking it off charge at the last minute (100%) and get to my office at 9am and it'll be at 50% and very warm. Prior to that (can't exactly pinpoint when the drain started to really kick in) it would only drop to 85% - much more acceptable.
The G5 has a replaceable battery - 2800 if I recall . So I threw down £50 on an official LG site for a new slab of Lithium - slight improvement, but still terrible and warm. 55% instead of 50%.
"Right - time for a new phone" as I assumed that 2 years of app updates meant the CPU was lagging. Bagged a Galaxy S9 - today was my first commute into the office. Started on 100%, arrived at 55% with a 3000 battery! And it got super warm like the G5.
Most of that time I used Google Play Music, which according to AccuBattery the discharge speed was "33% per hour". Second was Google Chrome at 30% per hour (though I didn't use it much at all on the journey).
My question is - what logs can I check, or apps I can use, or something to find out what's going on? I need to test a few things of course to pinpoint the issue. If it helps - I restored from my G5 when I setup my S9.
seems like you might have have some options enabled in Google Play Music / chrome - that is keeping the phone awake
generally when you switch phones they apps and their settings get transferred automatically now - worth maybe uninstalling them for a day and see if you're still experiencing this issue
other than that it could be that your commute involves travelling thru areas of no signal where the phone keeps trying to find a signal - that can drain battery a lot

Thanks - I'll try that next time. Might also try a factory reset but not restore from the LG G5 backup to see what happens then.
how bright is your display? do you leave it on all your commute?
Got your wifi enabled which hunts for a signal even though you aren't using wifi? try turning it off. Same with location setting.
And how strong a signal do you have on your commute. Streaming lots of data on a really weak signal will kill battery, too.
Go into settings and see whats draining your battery.
Battery Drain Issue of S9 - Resolved
:laugh:Hi All,
I could resolve the Battery drain issue but not touching any other setting of the new phone by just disabling the backend data usage of all application expect few like Edge screen, Gmail, Flipboard etc... Now the android system power usage is back to 4-5%. Previously it was 21%-25%. So issue resolved. Need to find out the way to inform this to Samsung so they can identify which app is consuming full battery power.

Hi, i'm facing ridiculous drains too and factory resetting hasn't seemed to help. I'm trying your resolution, but I don't entirely understand you. Could you kindly guide step by step? also, if you mean going to optimise battery usage, when i go there and select the 'apps not optimized' all the apps there are greyed out therefore not allowing me to select them.
