Try removing the storage card (microSD/SDHC), then holding down this combination of keys: both soft keys, camera key--then press the power button.
Dont forget to place your forefinger on your nose before the restart

Press all the keys on the power up, right and left soft keys, camera button and the power button, all at the same time, again do this on the power up! When you see the color screen, connect your device to your PC via active sync and install a 6.0 ROM on your device, do not try to install a 6.1 ROM on your device at this stage of recovery. The green active sync icon my not show or look like your device is connected to your PC but it is connected, just install a 6.0 ROM on your device. After you install the 6.0 ROM on your device, now you can again try to install a 6.1 ROM on your device. Be patient it will work, your device is not dead.............!

Pressing once does not turn it on. You need to hold it down for few seconds, til it vibrates. Then you can release it.
I do this but wont power on. I dont know why.
Its recognized on my computer as qualcomm usb or zeus flash device.

It's soft bricked, you need to recover your phone with Sony Update Service.

You won't need to power on your phone for this. Install Sony Update Service on your computer and follow the instructions given.

That is strange. I am running out of ideas to help.
Last idea is to use Flashtool and flash a stock GB/ICS rom.
Use this thread for all instructions and download links - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1642480
I forgot if flashing by flashtool requires to have unlocked bootloader.
Ok thank You
I will unlock the bootloader and then flash the phone

Hi guys. Im pretty experienced with android but this one has me stumped. My buddies brother has a stock/non-rooted optimus g e971 on Rogers. He changed his screen lock password and forgot what it is. Of course he never register a Gmail account so I can't recover that way. I figure no problem. Shut down, pwr+vol down to factory reset. Well nope doesn't work. It flashes the lg logo twice then boots like normal.
Ok so I figure I'll just put it in download mode/fast boot to do the factory reset. Tried pwr+vol up. Nope. Vol up+vol down+pwr. Nope. Vol up+vol down and plug usb+pwr. Nope. It just flashed the lg logo twice then boots like normal. I've tried multiple variations of each holding the pwr for different lengths of time, always with the same result.
Anyone have any suggestions? It's not bricked, and the vol keys are working, it just won't go into any modes.
also I dont know if he has hardware encryption enabled (of if thats even an option on this device) but would that even prevent me from getting into factory reset / download mode?
Also I check that the vol rocker is working. when it is on but screen is off, if i click the vol rocker either way it wakes the screen.
I have a similar problem. Here's a thread I made about it http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-g-intl/help/enter-download-mode-t2883542.A couple of guys had some ideas.None worked in my phone but maybe you're luckier.
If you haven't done that already you should try going into download mode by pressing power up+down and plug the cable, don't press the pwr button.
If you find a solution pls let me know .
Yup, you shouldn't need to press the power button for download mode.
First, make sure you have the LG United Mobile drivers installed on the PC you're using. Then plug your USB cable into the PC (not the phone yet). Simultaneously press and hold the Vol +/- buttons, and hold for 10 seconds. Then while still holding the vol buttons, connect the micro usb to the phone.

Doesn't work either. If I hold +/- for 10 sec then plug in the usb it flashes the lg logo twice, then goes to the battery charging screen. If I hold +/- for 20 sec then plug in the usb it flashes the lg logo twice then boots like normal.
after reading this post i went and tried if i also cant get into the recovery and the same happened to me, the LG logo just flashes and nothing happens. mine is stock E975 (4.4.2).
worked for me.

Android has SD card encryption disabled by default - but if it was enabled it shouldnt disable recovery/fastboot - right?
Even if the bootloader is locked, i should still be able to get into fastboot/download mode, and/or recovery, right?

Hey People,
maybe someone of you can help me.
I made a normal Update of my Phone 5 days ago after the Update my Phone went off and now it shows a Blue Screen with the Information that something went wrong while the Update.
I tried to repair it with the Smart Switch Pc Software but it don't worked.
I gave it to the store where i bought it but they want that i pay for the fix. Honestly i didn't tried to root it because i needed it for work.
Had someone that issue and can help me how i can fix that by myself?
Kind Regards
Saint
yes you probably can fix it easy
connect your phone to a pc with the usb cable
hold vol- and power to force the phone to reboot.
when the phone shut down, rapidly hold vol+ and vol- .the phone should enter download mode
use odin software to upload the latest firmware of your phone
download mode

That's because only the first part is needed. Just turn off your phone normally and then turn it on simultaneously pressing Volume Down and Power.
It finally worked after....

Thanks for your reply. I did as you suggested but that gave me a normal boot. I tried as someone else suggested, pressing power+UP volume and that did finally get me to recovery mode! Played around with that for half hour
Thanks again! Now if only can get the transfer working in OTG!!!

Has anyone figured out yet how we're going to get into "Recovery Mode" now with the "Bixby Button" missing? I used to "Clear Cache" weekly and thought of it this morning... don't dare experiment and "Brick" a brand new phone - hoping someone with insider info had some data on the subject? Thanks in advance!!!

Also works on Sm-n986b [Exynos] bit not on 9860 SD, it works only if you plug on pc via USB, it may be a Bug
Power off phone wait few seconds hold both power and up value button same time for 10 seconds. Bam your in recovery mode. Worked for me N20U1 Unlock Snapedagon chip.
Hello guys
Im in the same situation, i cannot boot anymore in the stock Recovery mode.
I booted one before, then i changed CSC with Samkey and i flashed lastest unbranded firmware with Odin. All the processes were successful without problems but the combination Volume Up + Power doesn't work anymore, i tried every combinations.
After booted up normally despite holding the Recovery combination keys, in the homescreen a grey pop up say to me: [PDP] Back-up file detected.
My Note is an SM-N986N - Snapdragon
Any suggest ?
Thanks
You must connect to pc with usb cable and then try
Same here! HK version N9860
Haven't test on it via USB to PC
after update to android 11, the phone must connect usb-C to either pc or ear phone, then power n vol up.
I confirm last statement. I've updated to Android 11 and spent more than 20 minutes trying to go to both recovery and download mode. Only way i managed with by plugging in my earphones... thank you seanmcs
Didn't work for me in first place. holding power (bixby) + volume up just restarted my device. i connected the phone with PC and tried same thing and it worked.
I am using note 20 Ultra (Exynos version) with One UI 3.0
