Hey everyone, I have a OnePlus 5t device. In my country, I can't use a CDMA sim card because the device is GSM system in both sim slots. Instead, I took my phone to a phone technician who probably unlocked the sim to accept the CDMA sim. The network worked well, but I can't use the 4g internet. It will only work for calls and 3g , or just 4g alone without being able to make or receive calls. Is there anything I can do to make work for calls and 4g simultaneously? Help me please

The Sprint version is being advertised as an international phone, and comes with a Sprint SIM card pre-installed, and what appears to be a security strap, making it difficult to remove.
Before traveling internationally, you can call Sprint ahead of time to have them active their SIM card, and for the low low price of $1.99/minute, you can use overseas GSM networks to make phone calls, and in many cases, data access.
Of course I'd like to buy a pay-as-you-go SIM card and install that for much more reasonable rates while overseas, but I'm not sure if it's as simple as plugging in a different SIM card.
I had read that the Rogers version of the phone required...something to active the SIM slot, and even then seemed not to work for data via 3G.
Anybody else have the Sprint version? Played with GSM yet?
I'm a little apprehensive to start tearing into it to remove their SIM card just yet...
The GSM is 2G only, no 3G.
Well my buddy has a AT&T sim card that i put in my TP2 but it did not work. I switch the phone to GSM only but it did not pick up a network. I also put that sprint sim on his phone but it had no network either. According to the manual its lock from going to a gsm network on the USA.

Hopefully a custom ROM can unlock the ability to use GSM networks in the United States!

good to know.
I read in the manual that it was not usable on US GSM networks too, but I assumed that was because they never intended for you to remove the Sprint SIM card, so of course the Sprint SIM card wouldn't work domestically.
So it seems the Sprint phone can be unlocked for GSM just like the Telus phones, but I haven't read of any success getting GSM 3G to work w/ an unlock code.

d'oh, missed this....
What about EDGE?
Check the specs, if it said gsm 850,1900 it should be able to use with in the US. Just have to sim unlock it first in order to use.

I just bought a touch pro 2 from a someone that told me it would work on boost mobile is that true? i tried taken out my sim card and putting it in but it did not let me make calls or anything.. do i have to unlock it? or is it that my sim card is not compatibility being that it is a iden sim taken from my i776 inserted into a cdma type phone? i know boost use sprint cdma network on some of there phones so i thought it would work with no problems since i seen that the touch had a sim in it..please guide me into the right direction on getting this phone activated to work on boost.. Thank you
the sim card for iden will not work in the cdma phone. just call boost and tell them u want to migrate your number/account from iden to cdma. if you get the right csr they'll help you program the tp 2(sprint branded) w the understanding service is not guaranteed.
Yes it could work you need to be on Boost/Sprints CDMA Network though thats the first step the rest is flashing it but yes it could work as long as you can get it unlocked and flashed to Boost i dont know specifics though hope this helps
Hello people! I just got an Unlocked LG G4 (Factory GSM Unlocked) to use with any GSM/CDMA carrier.
I'm actually using a GSM network with this phones which uses 850/1900 UTMS bands for HSPA+ and Band 4 (1700/2100 AWS) for 4G LTE. I'm currently on a data plan so i need the LTE service and GSM as well. I'm facin issues to use both simultaneously with this phone because in Mobile networks settings i can choose between:
*LTE/CDMA
*UTMS/GSM
*GSM
When i select LTE/CDMA i can get DATA at LTE Speeds but i'm not able to make/receive phone calls, neither text messages or anything related to GSM/UTMS service. When i switch to GSM/UTMS i can make phone calls, text messages, also receive both of them and also use data but i get HSPA+ only. (3G).
What can i do to use both GSM/UTMS/LTE and the same time? Thanks for your help and your time people.
Anyone?

maybe try to set it on global?
Unfortunately I don't think there is anything you can do. I had a similar issue (trying to use a Verizon G4 on T-Mobile) nothing I did would allow calls, texts, and, LTE at the same time. In the end my solution was to trade my Verizon model for a T-mobile one. Maybe I was lucky, but finding someone willing to trade only took 3 days after putting an ad on Craigslist.
Edit: the Verizon model did have "Global" mode, but produced the same symptoms as you described. When LTE would show (happened very randomly on Global) I was unable to make/receive calls or texts. When calls and texts worked all I would see was HSPA or HSPA+.
Mi Mix2 Global ROM MIUI 9 and Axon 7 Nov. 2017 Update.
Test condition - 1: Verizon post-paid SIM and Mint SIM (T-moible).
Mi Mix2: both sims can be in both sim trays. both can be active for voice call. obviously only one can be active on data. both sim gets LTE and VoLTE. when data is set to Verizon, Mint SIM connects as 3G (UTMS).
Axon 7: only tray 1 can work with Verizon SIM. both can work with Mint SIM. if put Verizon Sim on tray 2, no signal. both can be standby for voice. obviously only one line for data. when data is set to Verizon, MInt SIM connects as 2G (GSM). which might be problem for A&T as they already shut down 2G.
Test Condition -2: Verizon post-paid SIM and Xfinity Mobile (Verizon MVNO).
Mi Mix2: both trays can work. but only one can be active at one time, and looks like determined by data. when data is set to one of them, the other sim won't even get signal (shows emergency call only). but can switch between two sim back and forth no problem. so, not possible for dual sim voice standby with two CDMA lines
Axon 7: only sim tray 1 works with CDMA.
Will data still be connected when in a call using Verizon?

Thanks much for providing such a detailed comparison. I have a question regarding test condition 1. Hope to get some insights from you.
Assume that you set data to T-Mobile, and you are in a voice call using Verizon, is data via T-Mobile still connected? I ask this because phones such as Le Max 2 will have data disconnected when in a Verizon voice call.
Looking for a clarification here before I make the jump to a dual sim phone. Located in the US.
My goal is to combine 2 services into one phone. I have a primary Verizon MVNO service that I use for Calls, MMS and Data. I want to add a second SIM, preferably also a Verizon MVNO, for Calls/Text.
I have seen some comments indicating that you can't use 2 CDMA SIMs at the same time.
If that is the case, the only option for the second SIM would be a GSM service, correct? If that is the only option, can the second SIM can only be used for Calls and Text? How about MMS? I assume NO for MMS on the second SIM.
I was considering this phone because it seems that both SIM slots support CDMA carriers. But, if you can only use one CDMA SIM, and am forced to go with GSM for the second SIM, I will reconsider the cheaper ZTE Axon 7 option.
MMS doesn't work on this phone.
When I spoke with Verizon about this, they stated it was due to the phone being "unknown" on their network, so MMS limitations are enabled as they can't identify the phone. This is because Xiaomi doesn't register devices with all carriers.
Personally, I would keep looking. SMS, calling and Data have been working fine.
