Hello! I'm looking for non-MIUI ROM for Redmi (Hongmi) 1W with no success. Are CMs for 1S compatible with 1W? Are there any other alternatives for 1W? All I can find are forums dedicated for 1S or Note. Thanks in advance.
Did you google? According to the first hit, the 1W is the Redmi1 not s
Have you read the post? If I know there's a difference between 1S and 1W, I know they're not exactly the same model. What struck me was almost no support for 1W users after the 1S was released. Hence I'm asking, if maybe, just maybe 1S ROMs can be flashed on 1W.

If you had to even ask the question, I have to assume you didn't know the difference btwn the 1S and 1W. They are not just "not exactly the same model" as you said, they are totally different. You might as well be flashing a 1S rom on an Xperia.
Yes, but complete lack of support for 1W made me feel like there's something known for everyone but me. I've found list of ROMs for 1W, where half of it was MIUI based, and the other half had dead or fishy links. My question is if there is any legit ROM for 1W and where can I find it.
Never mind. I've managed to find polish distribution of MIUI v6 with slightly less bloatware (or at least it's not signed in Mandarin, so it's easier to delete by yourself) and got the phone running.
Going to buy this phone soon
I'd like to ask several questions regarding it
Which is the best ROM, Kernel, etc
- Good for gaming
- Longer battery life
Also does it support fast charging?
Did my research and it says yes but I have to buy other charger. Any recommended charger for it?
anyone gonna even reply? lol
You are not going to buy that phone. AI Global 6/64 doesn't exist. You did a poor research.
Ai ist China only ...
There is no "best" ROM but I like AEX or MIUI.
It Support quick Charge but is not certified so you may need to test some chargers. I use one from Anker.

well 'scuse me for not being a phone geek, there's a lot of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 type that I can't remember. First I thought my phone is Note 5 Pro but it's Oreo so I research again and I think mine is AI. And by Global, I mean it's Stable ROM, and support several language and not Chinese only. I just ask for some tips not for you to judge me. so F off

Seriously, it's a phone under $100. What the hell did you expect? There are plenty of custom roms if you got bored with the stock, but noone gives a **** about oreo. What oreo feature do you want to use this desperately? If there will be an official oreo, thats fine, if won't, there are plenty of cheaper phones with oreo you can buy.

I doubt there will be a stable rom for it. miui "devs" are abandoned this phone a long time ago, they won't fix the camera on 8.0. As you can see they updated it to miui 10, but with 7.1.2. Oreo is a piece of crap anyways.
Haha, the same as always "be patient".
At least give us a reward for this delay and give Oreo in next stable update or portrait mode this phone deserves.
Redmi Note 5A has the same specs as Redmi 5A, what kind of critical issues could be there when Redmi 5A has Oreo already somehow? Just admit Xiaomi doesn't care about this device. Those "critical issues"
Can somebody port Redmi 5A to Redmi note 5A/prime?
More Customizations and useful Modules.
Seriously man. Android Oreo has a lot of cutomization options that Nougut still doesn't offer. One Oreo ROM will be enough for all the Redmi Note 5A users.

If you use AOSPExtened, AndroidOne, Lineage port, you have literally 3 times more customization features than in a stock Oreo rom.
I just updated to MIUI 10.2 stable, it's obvious they won't bring Oreo to this Redmi Note 5A prime. Well, they shouldn't, I'm thinking of getting the Redmi Note 6 Pro or Redmi Note 7 this summer.
I have been away in the wilderness for the past 5 years and I am trying to get back into customs roms.
I purchased from Amazon UK the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, so I assume this is classed is the Pro version.... its 3GB/32GB model
After doing some research on the forum. Is it true to say that the Stock Miui rom is the most stable rom? I am currenly on Miui 10.
Its nice but I would prefer stock android/pixel port with everything working plus gcam.
I Would prefer Oreo until Pie is stable enough, but after doing some further reading I get the feeling that Oreo based roms aren't stable or have I misread.
Thanks

Been on Pixel Expirience pie for over 2 months, more than stable enough for daily use. Didnt encounter any bugs, everythings working, just heard that cast is not working, but cant confirm as i dont use it. Most stable is ofcourse OEM soft, in this case miui. Wont recommend gcam as its not stable, atleast for global version front camera is bugged. If you start flashing various gcam patches this forum is full of, youll probably end up with same bugged gcam AND it will give you extra troubles, like no sound etc. Pixel Expirience without any modifications and patches works well. Btw "pro" version is only for india, they have different front camera hardware and gcam seems to be working well on it, there is also AI version which is exactly the same as global version, just with less network bands support.
Thanks for the reply...

No, its the same phone, but as i said, pro moniker is only used in india. Global model is just redmi note 5. Global and chinese versions are identical, apart from global supporting more network bands. Pro version is same as Global, but has different front camera hardware for some reason. If im not mistaken, it has 20mpx, while global/china uses 12mpx front sensor. They all support same roms tho, and all have same codename, which is "whyred". This forum is for whyred. Note5/5 plus is another device, it uses snapdragon 625 and has single back camera. I know, naming scheme is ridiculously confusing, but thats xiaomi, its not the first time. They use different names in different regions, and release many similar devices.
I'm looking to buy the new Redmi AirDots 3 Pro bluetooth earbuds.
Currently they are only available in China, but will likely be released Globally as Poco Pop Buds/Redmi Buds 3 Pro.
My questions:
Does matter which version of the earbuds buy (Chinese version or Global version)?
Anyone have experience buying Xiaomi Chinese version bluetooth earbuds and getting it to work in Xiaomi.EU or Global rom?
Hi!
Yes, it matters.
First of all, both the global and Chinese versions are the same product and have the same audio quality.
but there are some pros of buying the Chinese version:
You'll get the product earlier since every Xiaomi product is first released in China.
And, you'll be able to use XiaoAI (MiAI) app. This app allows you to update your earphone's firmware, and also to configure the button's action (You could configure them to go to the next and previous song).
This app is only compatible with Chinese airdots, not with global versions (It's kinda weird, but that's how it works)
So, long story short, if you buy the Chinese version, you'll have a few more functionalities.
I bought Airdots 3 (Non-pro version) recently. As far as I know, the audio quality and connectivity are pretty much similar to the airdots 3 pro, but they'll have wireless charging and active noise cancellation.
Regular Airdots 3 doesn't have these two features, but they're more affordable and have better battery autonomy.
doesnt matter as much. same audio quality(audio quality is all that matters right? who cares about those ai updates)
Just waiting for some reviews, will probably wait for the Poco version.
Apparently voice prompts are in Chinese on the Redmi version.

sometimes, those apps can actually improve audio quality, connection stability, and battery consumption. There will be some improvements, so I don't think those updates aren't important at all.
But anyway, the difference in audio quality between global and chinese won't be anything impressive or incredibly high

Not necesarily, You can use either XiaoAI and Google Assistant on the Redmi Version
XiaoAI is only available in simplified mandarin
But Google Assistant is available in every language, so that isn't a problem at all. You won't even have trouble configuring anything, because the earphones will use google assistant if it is your default audio assistant. So nope, you won't have problem with chinese voice prompts

I have Samsung Galaxy S7, and I want to buy the new Redmi AirDots 3 Pro.
I can install the XiaoAiLite_qr App (latest version 2.10.20) from this link.
(The standard version (Mi Ai) that I downloaded from apkmirror cannot be installed on my device).
The app works (all in Chinese of course).
My question is will I be able to use the app with the Airdots 3 Pro, even though my device is not of xiaomi.

The ear buds should be working with other brand phones, but in case if the app does not work, or some issues appears, better ask how to solve issues in your phone forum.
People here can't solve your issue, unless they have Samsung Galaxy S7 or Samsung phones to test on or had some experience on Samsung phones.
There are 2 XiaoAi lite app translate into English, but maybe not updated, you have to test it yourself.

Firmware updates can be critical to audio quality.
Took Samsung over a year to fully dail the Buds/Buds+ in.
The difference is very noticeable, night and day.
Apparently it -is- rocket science

Thanks. The app works for me with the headphones, and it is also possible to do a firmware update (Xiaomi AirDots 3 Pro, Chinese version), even though the phone is Samsung.

Check if it remains in the app's cache folder.
For example for the "Xiao Ai Lite" app, it's in this folder:
Android/data/com.xiaomi.xiaoailite/cache

Do you have a guide on how to update manually?
To update manually you have two options:
1. Turn on alternative server in app's settings, this is my server with all that firmwares I published on Github. Than just go to the main screen and check for updates as usual
2. Fully manual - on the main screen tap several times on battery views, then scroll down, there you should find "Update from file" menu item. Just select the OTA file and flash it.
Error at the could arise, but not always this is actually error, because it compares FW versions installed and online, and if they differ error pops up, in case of manual installation version online could be the same or even smaller, so this is OK to see the error message in this case.

I'm currently using the same Redmi AirDots 3 Pro earbuds (Global Version) and for the most part I haven't had any issues with them. The sound quality is great and there battery life is great.
