Hello guys,
I just got a G925T and unlocked it(root & unlock), installed a VZW sim and got the data to work. I cannot make any calls or text tho.... Any thought for a frustrated fella???
I have contemplated installing a rom and trying to change the message center number there because it cannot be done in stock rom... but not sure if its possible.
I have a g925t, could you tell me how you rooted and unlocked it? I've tried so many things and even bricked it twice.
ATT, Tmobile and the rest of the world using GSM network. but Verizon and Sprint is using CDMA network. Therefore if you use a GSM phone on a CDMA network, IT WILL not work!

If it does not work, how did I get the internet to work... is a matter of configuration. I know Tmobile locks the message center number so it cannot be edited. If there is a different way(like an app or flashing a configuration) I might be able to make it work, at least the text messages.

If you brick twice, you need to give up.
Stock isn't as bad as it's made out to be.
I gave up waiting for safe uncomplicated root, but it's still not possible.
Proper root is seamless and everything works on the first try.
That was possible with all the Galaxy phones before this model, but not with this phone.

From what i inderstand, Verizon mostly uses CDMA for voice unless you are in a VoLTE area. Even then I would say all bets are off for voice.

This. Sprint, Verizon and US Cellular are all predominantly CDMA voice carriers. While they support VOLTE unfortunately it's not standardized yet so it's hit or miss on devices but VZW systems usually just reject any non certified voice device which flips it to data only like a tablet. The Tmobile s6 isn't equipped with compatible CDMA radios as they're proprietary. The LTE portion of the system they use is standard (GSM) with the rest of the world which is why data works.

Hi guys,
I just wonder if M9 supports VoLTE calling. My carrier told me that HTC M9 will never support this function because I have to have stock rom literally from my Vodafone Czech carrier. But it seems to me that in that case nobody with alternative roms could use this function so my question is..does it support VoLTE if I will root my device and install some patch what I've seen here for volte support or do I have to install another Rom which supports VoLTE or any other ideas? Does my carrier have to really support precisely my model or is it just software issue on my side? I have newest Android 7 stock. Thanks for all replies!
Yes, the M9 absolutely supports VoLTE. Disclaimer: I have one on the desk next to me fully operational on a large carrier in the USA.
Given that, your network and your device work in unison to make the 'magic' work. You'll need an IMS APN programmed in the device, and one in the LTE network that validates the new default (signalling) bearer. My suggestion is to chat with a knowledgeable tech support rep. at your carrier, and be sure to ask if there's extra charge for the VoLTE. Since carriers understand that legacy circuit switched infrastructure has a limited future, they *should* be willing to move all your voice/SMS/MMS over to the IMS/LTE network they've invested in.
Best of luck.

Thanks for detail info. VoLTE is new in our country so I couldn't get any tech info even from my carrier. And I already found out that VoLTE isn't extra charged and even video calls are for the same price so that's great but I have to find precise info about IME apn setting. I hope somebody tell me precise settings. Thanks for info again!
Volte is carrier dependent. Both phones must be capable, both carriers must be capable. The problem is that Volte is not cross carrier at the moment so you and the person you're calling must both be on the SAME carrier, the carrier must be Volte capable, both with Volte compatible phones, both in a 4g signal area.
4g is a data only protocol with voice capabilities "patched" in to it. 4g was NEVER designed to carry voice signals so don't expect carriers to be in a hurry to implement Volte when 5g is just around the corner.
As to the answer to your question. Yes, The m9 is in fact Volte capable so it is purely down to the carrier investing in new technology. Carriers are NOT obliged to roll out Volte in any case. It is purely a case of demand vs supply. We already have a perfectly good 2g-3g infrastructure for voice and data so 4g only offers better data connections depending on signal strength. I think a lot of carriers are going to hold back for a while until the technology becomes proven or more so, an ISO standard is put in place.

Thanks for answer. My carrier already support VoLTE technology and we also have around 95% coverage of LTE infrastructure and I know both must have VoLTE support and LTE connection.
What I am trying to is use this technology if I am able to. My carrier told me it's not possible because my phone is old for it but I've read few articles that it's possible.
What I don't know if I need some option in settings (rom implemented settings) to activate it because I don't have any inside, on the other side when I go to cellular info through *#*#4636#*#* I have info about IMS and also about VoLTE what I can switch off.
So generally is it enough to find out how to setup IMS APN in settings to run VoLTE on my device or do I need also ROM which have implemented in settings VoLTE on/off?
Maybe I just don't get it correctly but I would like to have precise info what I need to get from my carrier to set up IMS APN on my device to run VoLTE if it's possible of course.
Hope it is understandable.
So no need to any special futures implemented in Android. It's enough to set up APN for IMS and LTE bearer.
The only device that needs adjusting for volte is the dev edition, i believe.
Otherwise this device is completely volte compatible. Maybe your carrier representative is confused..

So I finally talked with someone who knows more technical info from my carrier but he told me that it's all about radio bearers, channels of phone (don't know precise terminology) and my phone has to be unlocked for that channel, so it's kind of firmware problem because in our country isn't firmware unlocked for that channels yet. And nobody knows if it will be. Also each carrier has different channel for that and that's why it's incompatible with the same phone from another carrier.
I've seen also some utility to change that radio settings over PC with debugging mode on but don't know more info about it. So I guess I can try this for a last option.
If your phone is locked to carrier and branded then there is a possibility they've switched volte off but if your firmware region is 401 then your carrier rep is talking s**t as all 401 wwe (unbranded) phones are volte ready and it is the carrier who is lacking the technology.

Thank you, I don't have for now rooted M9, because I bough it recently and until now I tried to find out all option if it's possible in some way but I'll do it and try it later. Thank you very much for your help!
So I've tried and it doesn't work, no VoLTE , no Wi-Fi calling, so I am not sure what could be wrong. I can see setup in system and it's enabled but none of this works. Is there any log or anything what I can explore why it's not working? My carrier has a app for Wi-Fi calling so I wouldn't need it as a part of system but there could be setup which I need also for VoLTE if I get it right. Or is there any other flashable file for trying?

VoLte And Video Call in Verizon M9
Hi Guys,
i have tried t-mobile rom for volte it worked great. also i notices that if i am changing firmware , volte is not working , as the volte options are still showned, when i get back to t-mobile firmware its worked. so i also searched that t-mobile rom has integrated IR92 lte support for volte, RCS integration and many things. Were i found that Verizon version has Integrated IR94 lte support for voice and video call over lte.
So Can any one help me further for this.

I have an AT&T running latest firmware unlocked rooted s-off the whole nine yards and my VoLTE will not work I can go into *#*#4636#*#* and turn on the provisions for it but when I exit it turns back off I guess I'm going to have to go back stock cause this sux I bet I've missed 15 calls today!
Is or has anyone else been able to get VoLTE working on T-Mobile US on this model specifically? LTE and WiFi Calling work in general, but the "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode" toggle isn't there to allow VoLTE. The model has the same number of bands as the XT1710-01 model, but is on the RETLA channel, by the way.
Hi, actually I was having similar issues. VoLTE, seems to be different but is based on your Carrier mostly. If you call someone from a different carrier it may not be enabled. I'm with AT&T, whenever I call someone with AT&T and we are both with good 4g LTE, in the call, changes the status to HD. But, just with AT&T. At least that's how it Works for me. We should wait someone to confirm is this is how other carries behave.

Apologies for the late reply. Definitely no VoLTE or HD voice between me and other T-Mobile users. No matter what I tried it just never came up. If anyone's considering using this specific variant of the phone in the US, I'd be aware of the limits beforehand.

-06 is a North American dual sim variant, correct. Updates should go through ATT Mex, I believe. And yes, you can use sims from other carriers. I used one sim card when I tried it and only utilized one of the sim slots as a result. T-Mo VoLTE just doesn't seem to have been certified for that variant.
So T-Mobile WIFI calling works on this variant of the Z2 Play? If so that is good to know especially when traveling overseas even if some other advanced features don't work.
I have an XT1710-06 retla device and I can confirm that wifi calling with T-mobile does *NOT* work on my device. There is a setting to enable wifi calling, but it never seems to connect and all calls still go over mobile. This is 100% testable if I for instance go into a deep basement that has wifi but no cellular signal -- I can browse the internet but cannot make phone calls or SMS, even though I have wifi calling turned on.
This is probably related to why VoLTE doesn't work either.
Also (as mentioned in another thread) still no updates for it past February 7.1.1 update. No later security updates and no Oreo updates.

Hi,
I'm super curious how did you get your Z2 Play to have VoLTE. I 've tried everything - new sim, IMEI of ATT branded phone, activated SIM on ATT phone, etc. , to no avail. I'm so frustrated and about to get another phone, because my HSPA signal is much weaker than LTE where I'm at and constantly have missed (straight to voicemail) or dropped calls. Please, let me know how did you get it to work.
Thanks
Maybe the problem is VolTE itself. As I tested. Unless both phones are with the same carrier and working good over 4G (good signal area) you can't get it working. At least in where I live that was true for a friend's phone and mine. So VolTE was good, until signal dropped hard. But impossible to work with other carriers.
Even it was good under Lineage OS and tested with Toxyc OS, but I saw the main thing is that 4G LTE should be firstly working fine. And same for anyone you call. Otherwise call will be normal. And for 4G LTE it depends on area support too.
Sorry for late reply

Same phone (XT1710-06 retla, rooted stock ROM on Oreo), and wifi calling on Tmobile also doesn't work for me. I can enable it in Settings, but I cannot send SMS or make calls over wifi with no cell service. After a while (a few hours) I get a Moto Settings notification that it can't enable Wifi calling, with a message underneath that says "Enabling." I can't dismiss the notification, only snooze it for up to 2 hours, and after I disable wifi calling it does eventually go away after a couple days.
Your problem is because none of the XT1710 variations have the 600MHz Band 71. It is the most recently added band and very few phones currently out there support it yet. As far as the HD voice issues mentioned...both people on the call have to be using a Volte supported phone and then HD automatically activates.
And WIFI calling?
I had read in a few places this might work. I'm also not able to sync my Galaxy watch to send texts and make calls through my phone's phone number with numbersync. I'm hoping flashing the actual ATT software might fix these problems.
Any thoughts?

well, the worst thing that could happen is that it doesnt work and youd need to flash your other firmware back on the device
I flashed my unlocked cricket S9 to Verizon firmware, because I was on the U1 firmware and needed cricket wifi calling back (and cricket/att firmware downloads are mia) and when I did I got absolutely nothing of Verizon and the phone was recognized as a cricket phone. So in short basically all 0U firmware is the same the same as all 0U1 is the same. It's kind of confusing but basically on 0U your sim/carrier (even if you don't have it in at setup, it remembers the last one you used) determines your 0U for you, so I don't think what you're asking will work.

You're welcome, sometimes I do switch to 2G but it doesn't seem to be too long I always switch back to 4G eventually sometimes 5G and I'm stll able to complete calls on the T-Mobile network. Me it doesn't really bother me much since I make minimal phone calls.

Great. Yes so this 2G calls might completely end by December 2022 when T-Mobile shuts down 2G. However after reading countless posts and thread...someone mentioned the best way to avoid this VoLTE drama by both at&t and T-Mobile.. you can start using services like Google voice and port your number...I actually tried this and I now don't care if TMobile doesn't allow VoLTE even after December 2022... But thanks for checking everything...1 more thing if you can check... If you can enable developer mode and see if you get an option for VoNR... That is the new standard after VoLTE and if that is supported on Ultimate that should help too... In any case I am going to finally place my order tomorrow after trying Google voice since even after 2G shutdown mobile data will continue...

So I was able to run a test, I recommend downloading Aurora app store and downloading the Google Dialer app and using that as your default calling app. As when I ran test calls to VM/ someone I know I get HD on the call so VOLTE is 100 percent for sure working then.

That is genius. I got my ultimate delivered today from Hong Kong. I was able to use Truecaller and Viber are essentially VOIP apps and need mobile internet or WiFi. But your solution is genius. I managed to install Google dialer and all calls go through without any internet connection and signal doesn't drop to 2G. I also got HD. thanks for finding a great solution. Let's hope Google dialer continues to work without Google services

So I'm on AT&T and my service was working perfectly fine with them until I took the latest firmware released today. Not sure if the update messed with anything but my Google Dialer and regular Dialer both do not make calls via AT&T, my T-Mobile sim still works
Hey thanks...I sold ultimate within 2 weeks as more and more apps were breaking without Google services and using Gspace was slow and frustrating...I moved to OPPO find x5 pro global version which had VoLTE on TMobile and after android upgrade I lost VoLTE even on OPPO T-Mobile. This is truly frustrating. Looks like they won't allow any Chinese phones in USA.... Only Samsung, OnePlus and Google pixel are welcome...
