I had been using HBO max on Fire TV by loading directly from an .apk (I'm outside the United States and it's not in the appstore)
As others have reported, it stopped working recently (it wouldn't start)
I loaded fastest update .apk via 53.22.0.1. It starts but it doesn't recognize the remote (I cannot do anything)
Is this expected?
Hello, I have the same problem but also can't find an fire tv port for 53.22.0.1. Can someone help or its just not going to work anymore?
You can see if this works, HBO Max v53.20.0 from the Amazon App Store
THat worked! Thanks a lot
It was listed here (as long as other with 4 number version)
Download HBO Max: Stream TV & Movies APKs for Android - APKMirror

The one I was using had a 4 number version:

Are the one with 4 number version some sort of beta?

That's one option
I just downloaded that file into my phone and use the App 'Send files to TV' (you install it on your phone and on your TV). Then you can send the file phone -> TV

What are your favorite working apps?
Can you categorize the applist with fire tv remote and external mouse needed to control?
that will be very helpful.

I agree. That would be most helpful. I rather not have to use a mouse for most my apps and if someone already knows they could post so we don't all have to test..
Do you have links to Bollywood channel and Indian recipes apps?
..
I am not sure how I can go about downloading the apks you have listed to install these with adbfire on my unrooted firestick ( Sky Sports for Android) but they do look like a good list
I suggest the global use of an extra abbreviation for FireTV Stick to end the confusion.
Also, make a seperate list since some apps don't work on the stick. (I heard retroarch had more issues)
Abbreviation: AFTV-Stick
Its better than confusion.
Also,YouTube is a PITA now because of the broken services 7.3.29 issue.
The 4.4.11 (v5b) YouTube MOD works without even needing root access since it also doesn't need Google Play Services.

Google Play Sevices is not broken, 7.3.29 is not built to work on the Fire TV. 7.0.99 is actualy the same version as 7.3.29 with a different version number and is meant to work with the Fire TV hardware. 7.3.29 is the latest version that works on certain hardware and 7.0.99 is also the latest version for other devicess. Not all devices use the same verion of an app. Thats why if you go to the actuall playstore every app will say "latest version - varies from devicess", cause depending on your hardware the version number will be different. Also, I am using the lastest version of Youtube with 7.0.99 and it works great. The only problem is that when ram gets too low videos won't play, but the solution is to either force close Youtube or run fast reboot. After that videos will start playing again, at least that is what works for me. I have Dock4droid installed with a fast reboot shortcut so when Youtube acts up I just close it, do a fast reboot and all is well.
ive noticed that fire tv has itv player / channel 5 which is unavailable on other platforms
can these apks be ripped and installed on an nvidia shield for example?
thanks

shield has the playstore but apps are missing...i think its only apps for the leanback launcher
would be good if someone could extract the amazon apk files of popular apps to try on the shield tv?
Could someone from uk with FTV3 use es file explorer to pull some apk for me please?
they have all been updated for for FTV3
ITV HUB
MY5
ALL4
Thanks,
Can you download them from APKMIRROR or use https://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/ to get them from the google play store and sideload them?

my5 works provided the Amazon app store I is installed and logged in
, 4od and itv hub install but don't load icons to lean back launcher and won't run

Thanks, looking forward to your upload so I can test it out.
Here are the APk's i extracted from my 4k fire tv stick last night.
the only one working on a non amazon device is my5.
all4 and itv hub appear to be wrappers not proper apps - still if someone could get them working for non amazon devices there are loads of people requesting them in various threads( shield, sony tv, philips tv etc .,pretty much all android tv devices would benefit)
OK so I tested out my5 on my shield with amazon appstore installed and logged in, I also then tried to use lucky patcher to remove amazon appstore dependencies and am still greeted with the same screen either way.

Is there a way we could maybe spoof the shield so its seen as an amazon fire TV device in the amazon appstore - then it may actually let us download directly without having to sideload.

I installed the my5 app on my philips android tv, it complained about no amazon app store when i first opened it, so installed amazon underground, then it worked no problem

I have tried this aswel but same thing for me - tells me I don't own it.
When I check amazon underground it says I need to update to the new amazon app store which I previously had installed. I wish there was a way past this - you can see it loading up all in the background and can tell it will work when you can get that message of the screen but just have no idea how
OK so I finally found a way to get this to work, install amazon appstore on any other android device that's not android TV. Install the apps from there - then when you use the apk on shield it will now say you own it and not bother you anymore. Installed my5 and is working perfectly, way better than the side loaded app I was using for all these years (would have been fine if they didn't update so now it doesn't work on android TV anymore). So thank you amazon, last mission is to get all4 from either fire TV or Sony TV somehow and then all apps will be remote friendly. The all4 amazon apps I've found seem to be wrappers and not actual apps...
I've given up trying to get all4 and ITV hub working, now using the ITV hub pluggin via plex which works a treat and removes the ads, so even the mrs likes it better than the itv hub app.
Howdy,
Per title, can someone please post a link to the Wondrium APK for Fire TV from the Amazon store? I'm wanting to see how functional (or not) it is on Android TV as it is not available from the Google Play store for Android TV.

Hello all,
First post here. I have become extremely frustrated over the last few days as I have been unable to download and of the UK tv apps, My5, All4, BBCiPlayer and ITV hub.
When I click on any of these apps and try to download I get the error message next to the cart saying "Unavailable".
The fire stick was purchased in the UK and set up there. I have an Amazon.co.uk account to which the stick is registered. The firestick also has a vpn installed that I have set to the UK.....still unable to download these apps. I tried downloading the APK for BBC iPlayer....it downloads but will not allow viewing of selected shows...error "Opps....something went wrong!"
Can anyone talk me through solving this... it's driving me nuts.!!!
Any and all help appreciated.
You have to enable the installation from unknown sources.

Thats weird, did you try to "purchase" (i know they are free) the apps on your computer? Sometimes is the only way to enable the app to be downloaded on the firestick...
Worked for me a few times

Thx London....I forgot to mention that I'm now using this stick in Canada. I'll try your suggestion tho.
Can someone please upload bbc iplayer apk for fire stick? In Google I am able to find only version from April 2022 2.0, but amazon store shows latest one is from 28 September 2022.
Hello,
You can check this : https://t.ly/mQV3
Nah thats for a smartphone, not for a fire stick. I was able to get the version for firestick by registering a fake Amazon account with UK address. It's 2.1 or 2.2 or something like that.
I have tested the no-DPI version and It works fine for me (at least to navigate on login screen because I have no account) :
