Hey guys,
I just got my HTC Desire HD a few days ago. Been using the phone without modding or anything (I have no clue about them, just found out that we could do this yesterday) and found that my phone is pretty laggy occasionally and the battery life... is horrible!
The battery life has been fluctuating every day. Today, the phone lasted me for 5 hours only. Did not use the camera or watch videos. I checked the Battery Use window and I found that my Android OS used about 46% and my Display used 34%.
The software number is 1.32.178.5 with Froyo (2.2). I'm wondering if any mod could provide me with better performance and battery life as my OS currently is a battery guzzler.
I'm new to HTC and I've been reading up on flashing, modding etc. Not understanding too much though. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
The first thing you need to do is root your DHD. Without that, there is nothing much you can do.
Hey thanks for replying.
Yeah, I got that part. I wanted to know if replacing the mod will improve the performance and reduce the load on my battery.
Wondering if anyone has experience this change by replacing the mod rather than just having cosmetic and utility difference.

I am using ARHD on my DHD (as you can see from my signature) and i have huge improvement of overall performance and battery. It is just awesome using DHD with this ROM loaded on.
Most people root their device for better performance/stability and freedom than to color and give their DHD a cosmetic look!
PS! Read my signature....esp the last line

I have the same software version (AU Vodafone). I found it took a few charge/discharge cycles for the phone to get better acquainted with its battery. The first few days I was concerned about battery discharge time, however now I'm not. I even purchased a second charger for work, however I rarely seem to use it.
I've rooted my DHD using Visionary r14 however I'm still running the original ROM. I recommend that you try the following before changing your phones software:
Install SetCPU from the Market (requires root). This will underclock your phone (saving power) when not in use.
Settings -> Display -> Brightness -> Tick Automatic Brightness.
Disable GPS/Bluetooth if you don't use it, or enable it only when you need it.
Leave wifi/wireless off. You've got 2GB of 3G/HSDPA data allowance (slower than wifi but seems to use less power). I don't even use 25% of my data allowance.
Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Tick USB Debugging. This will reduce the lag (and stop Android OS using 46% of your battery).
I listen to music for close to 90 minutes per day, and sync two email accounts, RSS, Twitter, weather, etc. My battery will last at least a day and a half - by then it's at about 20% charge.
After being unplugged for 16.5 hours, my battery usage is as follows:
Cell standby 34%
Display 30%
Phone idle 28%
Android System 3%
Mediaserver 3%
Android OS 2%
And I've had the screen on for more than usual today.

I just tried this last night, had a really busy week. And WOW! I usually do not charge my phone overnight as I've heard that overcharging causes the battery to eventually become weak. I lose about 20-22% overnight where my Android OS takes up most of my battery. After I rooted and installed SetCPU, I lost only 8% over 6 hours, where the OS used only 5% and phone idle used 24%. A HUGE change, cheers for that Mike.

I'll try that ROM in sometime, look at how my phone is gonna perform after SetCPU. I've heard that using a different ROM will screw up my warranty so I'll hold on to the current ROM for a while. Thanks again.
Help needed with ozzy Radio Roms - Like which one??
Can anyone help me I really want to use CoreDroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858418
After rooting, Eng-off, S-off, unlocking the sim and using Clockworkmod to install CoreDroid. It booted fine and all looked good very impressed.
Except I now had no signal at all (bluetooth and WIFI are OK).
Tried multiple Radio roms found on XDA website all without any result.
After changing the ROM using the adb to push radio.img, restarting in fastboot
and finally flashing the rom. I would rebuild CordDriod from fresh each time just to be sure.
Can any body let me know if there is a more up to date ROM that is working with the VodaFone Australia Desire HD.
Many thanks in advance for any effort required.
Im going to try again, maybe i missed something.
Hi there,
Recently I got a secondhand HTC wildfire buzz and the original battery had a remarkable short life. After + / - 6 hours was empty.... without touching the phone!.
I replaced the battery by a new one with slightly higher capacity (1500mah) but after approx. 7 hours this one is empty too!....without using the phone, I mean the phone was closed with the on off button, not used and checked after 7 hours
I can not imagine that this is normal and I'm wondering what can be the cause of this problem?
Specs:
Android 2.2.1
kernel 2.6.32.21
Build number 2.22.405.8
- Phone was connected to my local wifi
- Only app in background was What's app (didn't send or recieved messages)
- Killed rest of apps with "App Killer"
- Noticed a few processes with the app "OS monitor" and the process "Android-system" used between 8-20% CPU. And the process "System" about 2% CPU
I can not imagine that this is normal and I'm wondering what can be the cause of this problem?
Kind regards,
thats strange.

you dont gave proper description. well yiu are new so i consider you don't know about rooting process and your phone is not rooted.
first of all install wakelock app check from playstore. i will give you a hint wats eating your battery. well on froyo 2.2. plenty of battery monitors are avaliable. at last and the best follow some rooting guides in wildfire fourms. they are sometimes confusing for new users . well follow a method to install recovery and get rooted. install a new rom and recalibrate your battery. its a file that somtime help users .
at last if you dont want to root. simply erase everything and reinstall everything. but i suggest you to get rooted and soff. because froyo users now can not download anything from playstore. google has dropped support of froyo...

I dont think that root is the answer here, also wiping battery stats from recovery does nothing except delete a batterystats file from the rom. no actual calibration happens. no need to rush off into s-off without a real need for it

To be honest with you friend it could be many things. ive seen many wildfires over the years that had massive battery drains just because they were old, with new batterys not really helping much. your device being on wifi is probably keeping it awake and not allowing for a deep sleep (which conserves more battery) if you go into wifi/advanced settings i think there is a option to have wifi always on during sleep. if that is ticked, then untick it and see if you gain any performance boosts. its also possible that your 3rd party battery may claim to be 1500 but it could be much lower. trusted brands are safer bets in these fields. also consider how you charge your battery, if you charge it excessively (much more that it needs, ie charged overnight while you sleep) then you could be causing permanent wear onto the battery.
as a last resort you could flash an android kernel that supports underclocking your cpu, that would increase your battery life but at the cost of performance. like the above user said try to install wakelock app and see if it pops up with anything useful but i don think it will
thanks
Thank you guys for the answers.
@sachoosaini
I did a successfull ROM flash on a HTC Prophet (QTEK S200) but that was a while ago.
@heavy_metal_man
I agree with you that it's hard to find the cause only with these info. Hard/software are very complex today. Yesterday I completely switched off Wifi but the results where the same.
I've noticed that the phone gets pretty warm while charging so perhaps that's the cause. I charging with a 5V 1.3 A usb charger.
Anyway, I'll try wakelock app to get some more info
Kind regards

Hello guys,
For years (since I bought my first Android phone) I've asked myself: "Why the heck these smartphones can not turn on at a given time, as did my old java / symbian phones?!?!?!. Man, its a must-have feature, for those like me, that use the phone's alarm clock to wake up every working day! With all my old non-android phones, I could simply turn the phone off and let it "sleep" over night, saving A LOT OF BATTERY JUICE!
But unfortunately, when I bought my first android phone (in 2009), I simply "learned" that, tecnically, it is "impossible" to make it fire an alarm when it is powered off. I simply took it as an undisputed truth, and resigned myself from trying to find a workaround, because the apps on Play Store that claim "auto power on/off" don't REALLY do it, they just make the phone a little bit more battery-friendly over night by disabling phone calls, wifi, bluetooth, etc., but they DONT POWER THE PHONE OFF. Yeah, its better than nothing, but it is NOT like it was on symbian phones.
Then, I bought my Lenovo Vibe K5, and... SURPRISE!!! In the stock rom's Settings pannel, there is a new option that let the user configure the phone to auto power on/off at a given date/time!!!! Then, I asked myself "why on eart this feature is not available on other Android Phones?!?!?!?!
- Edit: I know that, tecnically, to be able to turn a phone on automatically, the phone can not be completely off (the battery needs to be in place and with some juice available - duhhh!!!). I know that it needs a triggerer (in other words, something like a computer's bios), but the fact is that my K5 Stock Rom really starts the Android system from boot. I wrote this because there are a lot of "experts" out there who uses to blame those who ask for this feature, saying that it is an impossible thing to accomplish, and bla-bla-bla...
Back to subject: Fact is that, because of this feature, I became even more fond of my K5: it powers off at night, saves battery, powers back on at morning, and fires the alarm. Sweeeet!
But unfortunately, after installing the AOSP Extended Rom, I noticed that this feature is gone. To be fair, it's a rock-solid rom, that I recommend to every K5 Plus user - but I really miss the feature (hey, rom developers, what about it?)
Before I decide if I do or do not reverse to stock rom, I ask you guys:
Why on Earth isn't the auto-power on/off feature available on all Android Phones?!?!?!?!
Edit 2: Sorry for my bad English.
Edit 3: To moderators: Sorry for posting in this category. Feel free to change this thread to the "Qhestions & Answers" thread.
Well, that feature isn't exactly needed anymore. Android's Doze features make sure the phone doesn't lose a lot of battery when left unused for long periods of time. If you lose more than ~5% of battery juice overnight (when it's already below 90%) on Marshmallow or Nougat, that's something to worry about.
Of course, you can turn Airplane Mode on every night and turn it off when you wake up, or write a script to do it for you, if you want to get the best out of your battery life. The "auto power on/off" feature existed in the stock ROM because of popular demand, and I doubt it's that important a feature to people using other phones and ROMs.

Android's since Marshmallow takes care of idling sleep. (see Doze mode: https://www.bignerdranch.com/blog/diving-into-doze-mode-for-developers/)
If you have high drain during idle, you probably have an issue with wakelocks preventing your phone to sleep (i.e. enter Doze).
Naptime's great if you want to make sure the go on Doze early, and to make sure it's reapplied after waking up.

I PRESENT TO YOU THE H932 ONLY
RESURRECTION REMIX V6.1.0[WIP]
DISCLAIMER:
Of course flashing this rom you resume the risk of a non-functional device or destruction of a ultimate world war outbreak and adhere the responsibility that comes with flashing a file to your device. If you brick your device, you did something foolish and don't know what you are doing and maybe should not be rooting/roming(that simple). Remember that you are the one taking the risk of flashing/modding your device. Please don't come harassing me due to messing up your device. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!
ABOUT:
This is a port of Lineage 15.1 and Resurrection Remix V6.1.0 that I have ported over for the H932, it is currently a Work In Progress state. Will continue to work on it as time allows, built it and seen that it is working pretty good and wanted to share with the H932 community
Prerooted(Magisk-systemless), rctd disabled, no verity-force encrypt already installed for your next journey
Due to being a Work In Progress rom, it will have some bugs/issues till they are resolved(hopefully), most of the bugs currently are the ones inherited from Lineage, which this Resurrection Remix is based off of, so please be patient
INSTALLATION NOTES/KNOWN ISSUES:
The percentage meter does not move while installing, simple fix within updaterscript, average install is 5-10min, do not interrupt and it will complete and finish on it own
Install your flavor of Gapps before rebooting to RR, Magisk will force close once after reboot due to Gapps trying to get setup, but don't worry you didn't loose Magisk/Root. After reboot update Magisk binaries
Noticed phone will run a little warm during setup and pre-installation period(reinstalling of backups). After phone settles down and settled in it runs pretty damn smooth
SPECIAL THANKS:

I've been running this for the majority of the day. The only thing I'm worried about is my phone running warmer than usual. Especially when on a wireless charger. I can feel the heat just putting my hand on the screen. I'm hoping that this is just the phone "settling in" but I didn't see this behavior when I was on Lineage OS before flashing this. Everything is running smooth otherwise. I'm loving all the customization.

RR isn't exactly known to be the most coolest (slim ROM, less services, etc.), most battery efficient, most smoothest, etc.
its strenghts are the huge customizability mostly of the UI,
AEX, AOSiP, dot os (having my doubts now with the Smart Pixel overlay and issues with app installations, calls of kang, etc.) - might be better candidates for a reliable daily driver

It ran a little warm when I first installed it, after adjusting the schedulers and frequencies it runs really cool now(which is what public release is set to), adjustments made was changed scheduler to interactive and changed the max freq. to under what it was set at out of the box, the min was set all the way down to 300mhz so it wouldn't be running max while screen off.
after making adjustments and adding root for public release I reflashed to make sure there was no errors on install, it ran a little warm setting up and installing backups through titanium backup, once set up and settled in it ran way cooler for me
running a bunch of backups of my pc and sd cards, soon as this is done, I will reinstall what I released and give it another go to see if I can replicate what you are experiencing, nothing different should of changed from when I flashed and when you flashed it, unless possibly an app hanging in the background constantly running

Yeah, I used to prefer complete AOSP with Xposed and GravityBox but there's nothing available for the T-mobile V30 yet. Just Lineage and now this.

It could get better as time goes on. I'll give it another day at least to see how it goes. Do you use wireless charging? That seems to be when it gets the hottest. I also tested out charging with a cable and it wasn't as hot. Again, I'll give it another day. If it continues, I'll try and reinstall

Agree, I normally have xposed installed for all the extra customizing that which ever rom I was running in the past, had it installed on the 20k before I finished RR. Haven't used the wireless charging much due to flashing and constantly having the phone hooked to the computer, but did test it out and did notice it did get a little warmer but not to terribly warmer, have noticed in the past if using NFC to another device or wireless charging the device will usually run a bit warmer, kinda what you are experiencing but not real hot
Is there a way to fix the ctsProfile showing false in magisk? I guess it has something to do with the fingerprint of the device. Maybe a build.prop change?

Have someone pull the fingerprint off the 20k stock LG rom with the following on terminal
getprop ro.build.fingerprint
Or you can simply use the magisk hide module to use a different devices official fingerprint but take note that apps will see your app as that device.

Thanks. I'll have to see if someone can get the 20k fingerprint. I don't really want my device showing as something else.
I ended up rerooting/flashing my phone last night. I went back to stock (stock lafs/20k) the other week because I couldn't stop blowing everything out trying roms. Got bored, something about breaking our phones makes it fun. Anyways I loaded this last night once I got everything unlocked. I really like this rom. It's very smooth. The only issue I have run into is not being able to register my fingerprint. On the set up it does nothing. (*I did just read that usually this issue is related to not being on Oreo firmware. Makes sense, I did not goto 20k after unlocking/rooting phone. I will give it a try and report back*)
Only other issue I noticed, my device shows as UNKNOWN. This caused Podcast Addict to have an issue setting language by default.

The fingerprint sensor does work on this ROM. I use it. And my device shows as LGE LG-H932SV on the play store on my desktop browser. So I do think it's probably not being on Oreo firmware first.
The only other issues I see (and I think they are known in other threads) the always on display causes some issues when turning the screen on sometimes. It also doesn't always turn on after turning the screen off. And the auto brightness is a bit off. I have to turn auto brightness on and slide the brightness bar all the way up for it to work right. This is also the only way the always on display can be seen. Otherwise it's too dim to even use. I have turned off auto brightness and the always on display for now. These two things were also issues in Lineage though.
Fingerprint issue fixed by flashing Oero 20k in twrp then flashing rom. Last night rom was flashed over 10d so firmware wasn't correct. Also device type has corrected itself so that was probably also in relation to firmware versions.
And yes, I noticed the always on display last night. I don't really ever use it anyways so I have no issue disabling it.
I just restored my Lineage OS backup because I just felt the heat issue was too much. It was also causing my battery to drain quickly and not charge as fast on a charger. After restoring Lineage, the phone is a lot cooler and battery seems better. It could have been just me. It could have been something in the background running for some reason but I couldn't find it. Maybe when the next RR update is release, I will do another clean install and see if I still have the issue. But I have to stick with Lineage for now even though I do think Resurrection Remix is better in a lot of ways.

I looked into that. I tried other governors but didn't really notice a change. And he already said he set the max CPU to less than what it came with before releasing it so I didn't mess with that all that much. But I'll take another stab at it eventually.

I'm with you. When I left work my pocket was way too warm. My phone is inside or a thin silicone case. I just tossed it on charge after 6 hours of last full charge because it was already at 5%. System had used over 40% battery use. Only 3hr screen time. Kind of bummed out because I like this rom.

Glad to hear someone else's feedback. At least I know it's not just me now. Maybe this can be looked into and fixed with an update.
Hello everyone,
[If my post is misplaced, I'm sorry in advance]
I come to you as a last hope. A month ago I installed ACC from Magisk, everything was working fine until I wanted to change the charging profile from the ACCA application. Since then it is impossible to charge the phone with a cable that can charge and transfer data, and there is only one plug that works to charge my phone. In addition, it happens very often that the phone is marked as charging but the charge percentage does not change, and when I restart my phone, it loses 20% (annoying when I go to work ).
Some clarification:
- I've tried plugs and cables that no longer work with other phones before and all of them charged with any cable.
- When I use the only cable that still works for my phone (it's a charging only cable, no data transfer possible with this cable), the charging indicator lights up but on Android nothing tells me it's charging and on the ACCA app, the phone does show as charging.
- I changed my firmware shortly before installing ACC, I changed according to the site indicated on this Telegram group (https://t.me/pewhyred/102798).
About the phone:
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro Whyred
- Pixel Experience - OFFICIAL | Android 11
- Minimal Kernel EAS R14 (MOD EDIT: Link Removed)
What I've already tried:
- Discussed with VR25 (https://github.com/VR-25) to try to find a solution, he helped me a lot but he doesn't have Xiaomi so he can't do much anymore.
- I tried this solution: https://github.com/lybdroid/poco-x3-pro/issues/1. But the problem came back a few minutes later.
- Install another kernel, namely the last one recommended for my rom, this one: MOD EDIT: Link Removed, but no change.
- Format the phone with recovery and re-install the rom.
Possible solutions:
- VR25 told me that these two values should be the same, which is not the case.
CAPACITY=17
CAPACITY_RAW=42
- Discharge my phone until it can't even turn on anymore and then try to plug it in (which would take a lot of time but I don't have time )
- This one : https://github.com/lybdroid/poco-x3-pro/issues/1
- And there you go....
I am aware that this is not an easy problem but I am really out of ideas, energy and patience so even a little help would be welcome!
PS: Sorry for my English, I'm...no I'm kidding but I hope it will be a minimum understandable
