Question YouTube lags - OnePlus 11

Global OP11, the latest OOS. YouTube video lagging during playback every few seconds – a little freeze then continues playing. Not happening to all videos but to many of them. Clearing the all data helps just temporarily, lags come back very soon.
Any idea how to fix this? It's so annoying.

Yep, that depends on OnePlus that block the FPS to 60 on some apps and even the clock speed

found out that lagging happens only when connected to wifi. so not sure if it's related to the 60 fps limit.

Maybe the op11 have probs with your wifi 2.4ghz or 5ghz wifi ?

Youtube has geo bandwidth allocation and can cut down streaming speeds almost to 56k modem performance.
Either they are testing or intentionally slowing down downstream to users in your area.
No issues with YT app for me, I was traveling entire week by car with YouTube streaming constantly videos without any issues.

I have this exact issue for a while. Only on wifi, I'm using revanced, and my wifi is very stable at 600 up and down. When toggling off wifi, YouTube says "back online" it is more of just a stutter every few seconds, but it's noticable and again only on wifi.

I had the same video lag issue in my revanced YouTube. It got fixed after I enabled Spoof App Signature.

Bug on youtube (looks familar after 8 min yt crashes on my j120f)

I can confirm this happens on my end as well. Super odd. Also noticed the app itself kinda goes into a very brief unresponsive state. I'll try scrolling through comments and it'll delay a second or so every so often. Other times, works totally fine. Using WiFi 100 percent of the time, so if it is anything with WiFi, not sure why it would only be periodic and not constant? I use the same wifi and it's been reliable on times I've noticed this behavior.
I may install a logcat/dmesg app and see if I can pinpoint where the issue is occurring. Anyone happen to grab a log I could take a peek at since it only happens on a rare basis on mine.

The condition the lag will happen on my side.
Is when playing a video/livestream in minimized mode (the video still playing at the bottom)
Then when scrolling through video catalogue it will lag.
Also when scrolling through comments it will lag.

Ok, I just tried what you all experience and everything is working fine. tested on my 5Ghz wifi at home, 5 and 2.4Ghz wifi in the office, different hours, multiple testing sessions.
No lags besides atrocious 60fps scrolling.
Playing video and then scrolling through comments, everything works fine, another batch of comments is loaded in very fast.
Minimised video and browsing through Home tab, Subscriptions or Library - everything is working fine on wifi.
I have Asus RT-68U at home and typical professional IT hardware switches, access points for networking at the office.
Since day one and 60fps there was no issue with YT app for me and i use it daily for videos, long review or video podcasts during my frequent traveling.

My issue is when simply watching videos in Fullscreen and on wifi, but only every now and then. Either way, if you use revanced and use microg version, the app is not 60fps limited. (You may not want to for battery, but it's worth it for me.)

I use stock YT app, don't need anything else. I have YT premium subscription.
No problems with fullscreen videos on wifi.

I experience this as well on my stock US variant

First full days use - A novices experience

I am new to android and it took a while to adapt to this phone coming from Symbian. couple of things I noted as a new user.
I think its essential to install the widget for turning on and off the mobile internet. This widget can be added as a little switch icon and is found in widgets/settings/mobile internet switch.
Leave it switched off when not using the internet or net services. When you want to check your facebook or email or surf, just flick it on, and away you go. Will save a lot of battery rather than leaving it on all the time.
I have my friend stream and news feeds and weather etc on manual update. So I just click to update them myself when I want to see whats new. It won't suit everyone to do it this way, but you'll be lucky to get 24hours from the battery with always on mobile internet connection and auto-updating for your 'live' pages.
Also set your wifi to sleep after 15minutes of phone inactivity. This can be set in settings/network and wifi/wifi settings/menu key - advanced settings.
btw, wifi is much more battery friendly than mobile internet. (based on others opinion too).
some cool apps are barcode reader & google skymaps.
Oh yeah, maybe install the android power widget into the bottom of one of your windows. It's handy for quickly switching between screen brightness modes and switching on or off services like wifi, gps, bluetooth, or synching etc. The screen obviously looks beautiful in full brightness, but its not always required if just surfing in a dark room etc.
playback of H.264 video. I tried a few h.264 mp4 files and could not get them to play. I ended up installing an evaluation of Any DVD converter professional 4.0.5. and that did the job. you can choose the Nexus One 800x480 profile. You can also crop a wide screen video to chop off the sides and avoid the letterbox black bars. great program and worth trying the evaluation one anyway. will be handy for converting TV shows etc.
Well, thats about it after 24hours. I've also heard the battery life will improve after 4 or 5 full discharge/charge cycles.

Anyone having issues with 3.29.651.5

I am running stock 3.29.651.5. Ever since I updated, my battery performance has decreased, my web browser has become very choppy, and overall, the phone just isn't as responsive. The previous build ran beautifully on my Evo. Anyone else having issues?

PEACE,
YES!! It appears that my browser cant even get some pages (or it takes forever to load ---for instance XDA). I use Gtalk (I know most of you consider it BLOATWARE) and i barely can connect or 3G or 4G. My best connection is Wi-Fi which is good--when I'm home...not so good when I'm at work. I've ran the wimax test on my phone through Terminal Emulator and it stated that my wimax keys are still in tact and i have installed the latest radio...*shrugging shoulders*

I am running rooted stock (myn's I believe) with no issues... my other evo is stock 3.29 and had battery issues for the second and third days running but has since smoothed out....
Edit... using Sprint Lovers stock-ish 3.29 from over at ppcg
I have rooted odexed Rom and I can't rip out the Sprint bloatware. It's driving me insane. DC 3.6 can't come fast enough

I'm definitely having issues with gtalk..I can always connect via wifi but for some reason 3g has issues. I can connect with other 3rd party apps though, like beejive and trillian.
I am also having some issues. Used to get around 20hrs or so under moderate use. Now it seems to be more like 12 possibly 16. I get a very weak signal at work and this new update seams to drain much quicker. been thinking about rooting. Have done a lot a reading but not 100% sure how to do it yet.
same problem here. So I read elsewhere to check your Accounts and Sync in the settings. The update reenabled sync for stocks, weather and peep....which once I turned back off, my battery is fantastic!

I can't signin to GTalk since the update. I cleared the data, but that didn't help. What exactly does GTalk do?
Yeah already turned the sync back off. Gonna try rooting with unrevoked. Seems pretty simple to do.
I have had stock everything since I purchased my phone, no rooting or anything and have never had any issues with my phone at all. Since the 3.29 update, I think my phone is actually running better. The screen transitions on all my programs seem smoother, even the 4G load animation is smoother. Battery life is the same as before, crappy but I use my phone ALOT for work. I just don't know if I am just lucky or it is becuase I am using the phone as it was intended from Sprint.

Just a question, not being a smart ass, but what made you join these forums if you haven't done anything to your phone? I'm truly intrigued by the different things I can do, and I like reading about what I can possibly do.
I've been having an issue with audio applications.
If I pause a song or podcast (whether it be in the stock Music application, Google Listen, or Audio Book Player), leave the application for a while, and return there is a very high chance the song or podcast will restart from the beginning. Likewise if I do the same in Pandora the application fill crash on me.
This is mostly annoying because 90% of what I listen to on my phone are podcasts and lectures. Not being able to easily pick up where I left off is irksome.
Has anybody else had this issue?
have you tried pulling out the battery? i had alot of problems with the phone after update and so did my parents. after i pulled battery it starting working alot smoother and battery life has been alot better.

Yes and it is really ticking me off. I started noticing this after the update. I also listen to a lot of podcasts, and am tired of it restarting, it never did this before. Who do we report these bugs too?

Well normally you would report bugs to the app developer, in the case of apps. But in this case I don't know, because I haven't had any of these problems. Haven't done any podcasts but I use Pandora, last.fm, or Slacker radio for about an hour a day. I use it for a half hour on the way to work, pause it since I don't use my phone at work for anything but phone calls, then play from where I paused it 8-10 hours later for the half hour drive home.
I'd try a hard reset. Sometimes updates don't work smoothly. Just look at the Sprint forums shortly after the 2.2 update. Tons of issues that were fixed shortly there after by a hard reset. I haven't noticed any issues, and my battery seems to actually last longer, when the screen is off. I just got 12 hours with several phone calls, wifi, bluetooth, GPS, maps, navigation (for a short time), and the biggest battery drainer: games. Still had 12 percent, and it probably would have lasted at least 4 hours if I just let it sit. I leave all my email push and have facebook sync enabled.
Anyways, from my experience, nothing seems broken, its faster thanks to no fps lock, overall better performance, and the battery lasts longer, though it seems to run down a bit faster when in use compared to before, but it barely loses a charge while sleeping, so standby time makes up for it. (as long as you let it sleep, which in my experience, starting with the G1, is the real secret to best battery life. Let it sleep as long as possible. Constantly messing with it, switching the screen off, only to pick it up five minutes later is horrible for battery life. Use it, let it sleep, pick it up again in an hour. If you can that is...)
Was pretty choppy until I flashed netarchy kernel. But still getting alot of FC on Internet, when I use the back button it FC.
I had issues at first but after time and 2 or 3 reboots, all is smooth.

[Q] Extremely high ping/latency issues

Whenever the the wife uses the Kindle HD 8.9 over wifi, it crushes anything i may be doing that is latency sensitive (i.e. MMO, MOBA, FPS, etc) with well over 1s pings, sometimes reaching 1500ms. Other web browsing will also go very slowly while this happens. We have 7Mb/s DSL which isnt amazing but does the job considering we're in Alaska
This usually only happens in bursts then settles and fires up again.
Done the usuals, set to low quality with QoS router setups. Ive only tested with Hulu and Netflix.
Nothing seems to stop this tablet from manhandling our connection.
None of our other android devices or the Wii U do this using the same services and apps. I own a SGS3 running latest slimrom, the wifes is a stock SGS2.
The kindle is rooted but remains stock, rooted for the play store and the apps i own there.
Any clue what is happening? Others experience this issue?
I also prefer not to use the custom rom here as we use the HDMI out. (i guess audio isnt working yet)

Stuttering during video playback

I often watch a movie or TV serie on my phone before sleeping, but I have noticed that the video payback is not always smooth and there are slight stutters as if the G3 doesn't have enough power to play back full HD high bitrate, particularly in Matroska formats. So whats up with this? I know the G3 is plenty powerful to be able to play without stutter, so could it be some kind of power saving feature holding the cpu performance back and causing stuttering? This is ridiculous to be happening with a flag ship phone! Any ideas on how to fix this?
I assume these are on your phone and not on your network or the web or something. Have you seen this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796449
You could try turning off the throttling (at your own risk).

I will try that and report back, the only strange thing is that my phone does not get warm at all when watching video, so I don't think its a problem with temperature, I usually watch at very low brightness.
I tried turning off the throttling features and it made no difference. I think maybe the stock video player is just not optimized well, so I am going to try VLC and see how that goes.
I'm not sure if this will be of any help, I hope VLC works for you. I use BS Player on my 2012 nexus 7 to play my 1080p bluray rips(at whatever bitrate the pirate scene rips at). I would suggest trying that one and to play with the hardware decoding options if things don't seem smooth with it.

You could try that. May work. The other option would be to turn off the power saving feature LG put in that limits the cpu. It likely turns down for easier frames and then has trouble with frames with more detail, since compressed video is variable like that. I'm not sure if anyone has completely disabled this though, and it may have a huge impact on battery life.

[Q] Why is my HTC One M8 stuttering?

I have an htc one m8 with android 5.0.1 (lollipop). I am experiencing some stuttering issues. For example, in the app drawer when I scroll up and down for a certain period of time slowly (like for a 1 minute or so), there will be a glitch/stutter where the scroll quickly and automatically goes to next page (it is almost like the app drawer just blinked and refreshed but it shouldn't be doing that right?). After that stutter/glitch then no more glitches/stutters occur.
It usually happens when my cell signal is weak
OR
If i turn ON the cell radio or WIFI after being exiting airplane mode, the phone starts connecting to the wifi or cell signal and a stutter in the app drawer occurs.
But the scrolling everywhere else is fine (ex.scrolling in homescreen pages). There are no glitches, stutters etc. anywhere except for in the app drawer.
So is it doing that since the phone is trying to connect to the wifi/cell radio and causes the stutter?
I suspect that many users will not have experienced this issue even if it exists because not everybody would be focusing so much time scrolling in the app drawer like I do for no apparent reason anyway lol  . I just wanted to know if it is normal on every htc one m8 or not.
Let me know if I am not being clear enough, thanks!

I know it sounds basic and simple, but in most cases, a factory reset will fix those kind if issues.

So still the same? Some heavy usage must be happening from an app maybe. Check under Power : Battery Usage.
Some app may be slowing down the CPU performance.
Try High Performance mode under Developer options.

all seems ok under the battery usage. but doesn't the high performance mode cause huge battery drain and is not recommended?
also, this isn't something that happens all the time, just when i keep scrolling a lot in the app drawer after i turn on wifi, the stutter occurs.
are you sure this isn't normal?

the stutter still happens in high performance mode after i turn off and then turn on wifi again
maybe you could try this:
first turn off wifi and data, and then turn only wifi on and then open the app drawer and scroll slowly back and forth for a few a pages about for like 30 to 60 seconds. wifi again

Tried it. No sttuter. But don't worry about it, maybe you have auto connect with saved WI-FI networks and stutter just when the device locks into a network.
I have auto connect and no sttuter. Just ignore it, it's a minor ''issue''
