There is no link to go on forums from the mobile main page xda-developers.com. Only if I tick "desktop site" in settings I can see the forums link

Hi,
Yeah I noticed this a few weeks ago but thought that the owners would think of adding this link there. I had the feeling the mobile view was rewanped and that it needed time to organize the page and add missing things.
Pinging @willverduzco for his kind attention.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention @Dadniel and thank you for the ping @woodman
The XDA homepage template was recently updated in order to align with other sites within our parent company's portfolio. This enables our IT team to roll out fixes and features network-wide rather than on a site-by-site basis. As a result, some of the navigation elements such as the Forums button have been shifted around a bit.
In order to increase visibility, we chose to place the Forums link at the end of the trending topics bar on Desktop. This bar isn't explicitly present on mobile -- instead, it is present within the hamburger menu. The other alternative would have been to place it explicitly in the sidebar menu instead of the trending bar -- but that would impact clickability on desktop since you'd need to click on the hamburger menu in order to see the link.
I'll ask the IT team if anything can be done going forward.
@Dadniel (CC @woodman ) - Just a quick follow-up to let you know what I've added a link to the Forums directly in the top-level of the side-bar hamburger menu:
Thank you Will!

Hi all!
Just a request to the forum mods, but maybe a poll too: Would it be possible to set a profile filter (or something like) so only messages and threads regarding the device/s you are interested in are displayed?
I have no clue about XDA I, but it takes a lot of time to scroll through the topics and threads to find many times it's related ONLY to the device I don't have/know.
It might apply to any or both models of XDA. (some threads might interest everybody, some not).
Just an idea....
:wink:
Hi,
I think that you can already do what you are looking for,
At the top right of the forum you can see icons that have the icons:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Hopefully this has posted the image if not it should be there as an attachment.
When you select any of these it filters the forum to your requirements,
Regards
Neil.
Hmm, you probably have another forum then I do.
No images of XDA I or XDA II in the right upper corner here...
Grtz,
Jos
then you go inside a topic ie (http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewforum.php?f=2) on the right hand side above the bit that says 'Goto page 1, 2, 3, ....' theres 3 little pictures that filter the content.
near... but you missed the point.
Hi everibody!
Thanks for the responses, but my request is a bit deeper.
- First, I mean something in the profile itself of every user, so no need to "select" the small icon on the upper right hand corner is needed.
- Second and more annoying, actually it ONLY WORKS in the first page of every forum issue: as soon as you click "2" or "next", the filter is gone and even items you already read, are back there for you to "enjoy", again...
Just some suggestions, nothing really weird with this wonderfull forum.
:wink:
Hello to All!
I started some Workshop about Future of Mobile Windows Devices for
- Interface and OS and
- Hardware-Sugegstions
and i want to invite all of you to be Part of this and add your Concepts, Comments and Ideas.
In my Powerpoint-Presentation i worked out some Concept for A 3D-Interface for Explorer, Messaging, Filereader and some Applications-Manager (instead of A Homescreen). Here is the Link, this is about 20MB, because i put in A Lot of Screenshots and Sketches of my Idea.
Within this, you can overview everything on the first View - and there you find Illustrations of an animated graphical 3D-Interface for easy exploring with Thumbnails of everything that is running.
My Idea includes A Concept for making Sessions of what you are doing (opened Programms, Web-Sessions, Multimedia-Sessions, Sessions for Volume, -for Settings, so that you can share whole Devices at once, ...).
Everything is presented to you in horizontal-moving Rings with Icons Rows and Thumbnails of Folders-Content:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
You can preview the Content of A Folder in Background-Icons (Levels) as Thumbnails when you hold your Finger on an Icon,
Menus and Settings and Explorer+ Readers are sorted and put together in 1 Interface - that is my Vision for Windows-Phone 7 Series and later Versions.
-Within the Apps-Manager you watch:
I also want to share with you my Idea of revolutionary Hardware-Features for Windows-Devices and how that could be realized.
Please feel free to let me know your Thoughts for some animated Interface and let's talk about your Suggestions for Future of Windows-Mobile Devices (-Should Win. be more the Way of MP3-Player or of A Tablet-PC?) and please publish Illustrations of your Thoughts and Concepts here, also Comments of the new MS Phone-Concept.
"Let's create Future"
While innovative, I think that looks very over-designed. Not sure that it would be very user friendly... perhaps too flashy.
nice
but i think Microsoft had gone through lots of designs before they chose the new one!
Wow you sure seem to be talented! But not quite sure if you're using it in the right place!
Too many icons
svetius: "jump to your device" -- shouldn't this go above the dropdown so no rollover
Hey I cannot quarrel with the man who brought Youtube embeds within 48 hours or initial request... (btw, am I the only one using it? ... wait, let me answer that: yes. But I like it, so thank you !)
That pair of "quick navigation to your phone" tools at top right has been really great. It's just that enroute to using the text box to type in "desire" I almost always rollover the dropdown which causes an obstruction to my desired objective.
You probably wrestled with this and have reasons for the way you did it. But just in the event you were really really smashed that night and really had no rationale whatsoever and just flipped a coin, are you open to trying to flip the two...
Another unsolicited usability comment in the spirit of improvement. The xda favicon is such a welcome change from the boring vBulletin v, but I find it hard to read.
Did you ever come across how they went about remaking the YouTube favicon to improve its readability? It sounded very esoteric by god it did the job... A reader submitted it -- and YouTube took her up on it, and adopted it:
2 similar reads about it, with images:

About the drop down...in the forum redesign we're working on, you must click the drop down to get it to open.
About the fav icon...feel free to make one that is better than the current. All of us are quite pleased by the new icon. It's not perfect, but making a legible 16x16 graphic is very difficult.
With every other forum I go to, when browsing each subforum, the Icon next to each thread is different for threads I have replied to. This makes it much easier to keep track of which ones I should look at again after I reply to them.
I searched around on the CP here, but could not find any setting for this. So is there a way to show which threads I have replied to? Without getting emails for every single thread...
Yep, enable subscriptions in usercp, but without email.
Then you can see them in usercp.
The icon should change too iirc
There are thread indicators that you've posted, I believe they're blue arrows - well, we'll see after I post this, I'll edit and add....
ETA Yup, there's a blue checkmark at the end of the thread title that shows I've posted in the thread. I also subscribe without e-mail notifications, and check them in my User CP.
click your name in forum,then click statistics ,you can find you post in related section.
The envelop image is different for threads you've replied to.
For replied threads, it has a down arrow:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Good old fashioned search.
When in any forum click on "Search this Forum" then on "Advanced Search". Enter your UserID in the "User Name" box.
By default the same forum is shown highlighted in the "Search in Forums" box. Change it if you need to, to a higher level forum, or "Search all Open Forums" and hit the "Search Now" button.
I tend to use this method, instead of subscribing to threads. Just personal preference.
A short username comes in handy.
