Uninstall previous gcam not working - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi! I have earlier had gcam installed on my s20 ultra exynos and I now uninstalled the camera app. I seem to only have the stock camera app from what I can see.
When I download the latest gcam and run the installer it asks "Do you want to update the app?". If I choose yes it says "the app has not been installed as the package seems to be wrong" or something similar.
I have no clue now how to get a newer version of gcam.
The reason why I want to have gcam is I have read it might reduce the sharpness in pictures that I really hate in samsung phones

Google Camera not working after update (LineageOS 15.1)

Hi, I updated the camera app on play store, but after that it never worked anymore. When I open it, it gets stucked in a black screen with the camera logo in the center of the screen and then crashes. Can somebody please help me to fix this issue? Thanks in advice
Latest Google Camera (or version installed with gapps) only works on google devices (and maybe android one).
That is why there is GCam Ports available, and to make these work, you need to downgrade gapps to version that doesn't include Google Camera (Pico/Nano). Otherwise they will conflict even if you remove the app with TiBu etc.
Thank you very much! And how can I downgrade gapps? I have the super package

Dirty flash a smaller gapps package, be careful with what launcher your using because it maybe removed in the process.
Backup before hand just in case other google apps your using get removed. Reinstall from backup or play.
As for Gcam Port, i use this version from this thread.
As another alternative look at Mi A2 camera port for access to duel camera features.
Let me know if I got it: to downgrade the package, I only have to install a smaller package and it will automatically remove the bigger one? Is there a tutorial for it?
Okay, I managed to do everything right. But now I have another problem. The camera that you sent to me, crashes when I try to open the front camera. So I tried a bunch of other cameras, and the only one that works is the Arnovas, even if it doesn't save the selfies with hdr+ activated and when I try to take a selfie with flash at night, I only get a black image. This is the one that has less problems

Which Google Camera port should I use?

I have level 3 hardware support for camera2.
The problem is, the apk in the guide seems like an old version, but there are about 100 different APKs here
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2/#apk411
Which one should I use? Would be nice to know what to look for for future updates too
Thanks
Id like to know as well, the sheer amount of links on the GCam page is really confusing.
I'm using the MiMax version which works well but sadly the portrait mode doesn't and you need to turn off HDR+ to get the fron cam working
Try the cstark27 one of the best fit this device, front facing camera is about the only thing not working but don't do selfies so I am ok with that
Hass31's port was made for Daisy and is the most functional port available at the moment.

Yes but it is version 5 and has no night sight mode
Yet it still is the most functional one, lacking a gimmick feature that doesn't even work that well on this device isn't a huge deal.
Hi! I've update my MiA2Lite to Android 9 but now I don't find right version of GCam.. I tried many apk but everyone crashed when I start camera

you must unlock bootloader and enable camera2api or simpy root with magisk and install "camera2api enabler" module from the download section!!

Is that still the case after the Pie update?
I'm getting weird green artifacting sometimes
Now in pie i use arthur's latest version.
Everything is working and 5.3.15
There is no cera2api enabler in magisk download page. May be they removed it or what should i do to enable camera2 api?

After you've installed magisk
Download Root browser from play store
Open the Root browser
Go to the folder named "system" and open it
Scroll down to build.prop and click on it, open with Root browser text editor.
Scroll to the last line after the empty row press enter to start another row
Type 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1' without the quotations.
Press enter to move to another empty row
Them, press back and save changes
Now reboot your phone, you're good to go
Download pixelfy something like that

Does GCam supported on Moto G7 Play

Howdy all,
I just got myself a new Moto g7 Play,
and I was wondering if there is an .APK compatible to run Google Cam App (GCam) on this device?
Thanks
BSG mod works
The bsg mod from the first pixel, the 32 bits apk, works on my g7 play. I unlocked bootloader, rooted it with magisk, installed camera 2 api and added the Hal3 line in prop file and everything seems to work, including camera 2 api in apps like open camera. Keep in mind that latest gcams are 64 bits, so I think they do not work properly (I tried several apks and mods)
Is there a way to run GCam without rooting? The official instructions say that one just needs to install the .apk. Rooting isn't mentioned.
Honestly I don't know. I rooted my device before thinking about using gcam actually :/
Also, most stuff talking about using gcam in other devices besides pixel ones talk about rooting and getting camera 2 api.
But I think you can try to install it without root though
You could try one of the older gcam mod apks that did support 32bit but the newer ones that only use 64 bit cant be used and most the modded ones now also need to be on 64bit

Question Are camera Apps limiting custom ROMs?

Hello everybody!
I have downloaded and installed Lineage OS on my Poco F3.
It's a great device but there are some software problems that really bugs me (proximity sensor is a mess, some GUI element are not good for usability, the "everything you need, nothing you don't" thing and then the phone is full of useless apps that i don't need...)
Lineage OS solved all of my problems except for one: the camera.
I'm realizing that there is no real alternative for the native camera app because it offers you the full potential of the hardware with all the features.
Don't get me wrong: i tried Open Camera, GCam Port and other popular apps.
Really good projects but there is always something missing or not working.
In addition on Lineage some camera apps are just not available on the Play Store (for example Footej Camera... using another store, dumping the APK from another device... all useless... the app will recognize my device as not compatible).
Why is that?
Lastly i even tried to install the stock APK on Lineage without success.
What is your opinion on that?
What are the software limitations involved?
Is this a limiting factor for you?
What camera app do you use?
Best regards.
I'm not someone who uses camera that much but I can tell you that I totally agree with people who think that native camera is the best. I use Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and there is no alternative to camera which comes originally. That's one of the reasons why I tend to use ROMs with camera very close to stock one or even the same like stock one.
Lineage is known to cripple cameras.
you sound pretty knowledgeable, so i'm probably not offering much here... but, ANXCamera (miui camera port) is being worked on for our device, as far as i can tell... the following is copied from T.Gram... may show promise later on, but for now it's not fully functional
How get ANX working (partially)—
1. Download the MiUI Core from here (MOD EDIT: Link Removed)
2. Download the latest ANX (full version modded for R) from here (https://camera.aeonax.com/)
3. Flash the MiUI Core and ANX Zip through Magisk
4. Reboot
5. Paste the device-feature XMLs (MOD EDIT: Link Removed) in–
/storage/.ANXCamera/features/
6. Download ANXCamera Pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aeonax.camerapro) from the Play Store and use it to enable all the desired features in ANX.
What doesn't work for now:
UW, Macro and 48MP

Hi Guys!
I just realized that the Camera version installed on my F3 running MIUI 13.0.8 seems to be older than what can be found on other APK websites, could you please confirm your current camera Version?

I *think* we are not supposed to manually update the MIUI Camera ourselves, but rather I think we should let the ROM handle it.
It works, but one time I updated to a MIUI Camera version and it had a Leica-Theme (White/Red UI Theme). That specific version was probably meant for that one Xiaomi phone with Leica-branded camera.
Also another time I noticed that a MIUI Camera update I installed, had Quick Snapshot Mode removed. The feature where you could press Volume-Down for ~4 seconds while screen is off, to take a picture.
But yes, I think we by default run older MIUI Camera version.
To be honest tho, I think you can just go ahead and update it, if you want. ^^
