Problem with new update - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hey everyone,
Two days ago I got the new update, I believe it is OxygenOS 12.1?
While it claims improved stability, the opposite is true for me, especially regarding mobile network connections.
About the new version, the update-log specifically says "Communication: Improves the stability of mobile network connections."
However, after the update, I can now only stay on my mobile network for 5-10 minutes before it shows the exclamation-mark error in the top right corner on the connection status, and the network doesn't work.
I then have to go into the settings, disable my SIM-card, enable it again, and then it works for 5-10 minutes again before it stops working again.
Before the new update, I used to have zero issues with my mobile network connection.
WiFi works fine, the issue is only regarding mobile network connection.
Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
Please let me know if you need any further information about my phone.
Thanks in advance

General OOS12 is the worst OOS ever

Basically, it just changed the user interface of Coloros 12 to OOS12, which is a completely different system compared to the previous OOS, and within half an hour after I updated to OOS12, I was back to OOS11. It's a complete waste of time
i agree oos12 is ****ing dogwater lmao
Is it possible to install ColorOS 12 over OOS12?
Why did Oneplus ruin my new oneplus 9 pro with this crap. Now I am back to rooting and Rom'ing, in order to be on android 12 that isn't a complete disaster?
(rhetorical question).
I thought 11 was a downgrade from 10, as well. But nothing like this. And I could get 10 for 9 pro, since it released with 11

For what it's worth, OOS 11 did not give me the performance on the 5G Network that OOS 12 is giving me now.
OOS 11 I simply edited the policy restrictions in order to access the 5G cell towers and the download speeds were 50% slower than a comparable 5G capable handset (iPhone 13 pro max, Motorola Razr 5G, One+ 8T 5G). Even after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and reapplying the modified policy restriction.xml the One+ 9 Pro on the OOS 11 had poor 5G download speed.
OOS 12 with unlocked bootloader, rooted, and using 5G switch (playstore app) the 5G download speeds improved greatly. I would say they are 50% faster than same handset on OOS 11. I cannot access engineering mode and therefore modify the policy restriction.xml file like on OOS 11, but given the faster download speeds I'll take it for now. For what it's worth, 5G switch would not work on OOS 11.
Another great option that OOS 12 has is a separate volume level for Ringtone and Text Tone. I NEED to be able to hear my text tone alert (which is usually a very short burst) all the while keeping the volume of the ring tone down so that I can take my time to analyze who is calling without disturbing those around me. OOS 11 combines ring tone and text tone under one forced volume setting, which blows imho.
I personally don't find the interfaces of the two much different, and cannot say that I have noticed any real speed differences or battery consumption pros and cons. I do like the graphical design of OOS 11 over OOS 12, but that can be improved by using different Launchers if that is your thing.
Cheers
Buyer beware - the latest OTA for OOS 12 comes with (apparently) an encrypted-ish bootloader that refuses to boot patched/rooted kernels or recoveries. I learned this the hard way on my 8t. So if you want keep root, it's MSM and custom ROM time.

Nothing new and nothing to be worried about. You need to disable boot verification by flashing a blank Vbmeta.img, and after that everything works like it's out of the box.

OOS 12 OB 2

Strange, it seems to me that this forum has completely died. Considering that Oneplus 7t is already an old device, I can understand that. But no one, absolutely no one comments on the new update that came out, OOS 12 as OB1 and very soon after OB2. Bearing in mind that Beta 1 and 2 were released for the Indian version and not for Global or EU... Does anyone have any experience and what are their first impressions? Can it be used as a daily driver on this device? Does Magisk Roor work? OOD? Did you so complete whipped all data before flashing? Can you install it over Ob5 (officially it suggested to flash it over latest stable version)? Did anyone install it on EU or Global variant 7t (again, officially ther is significant difference on Android 12, between India and Global/Eu variant)?

Ob2 fixed dead fastboot mode on ob1. Works great for eu or global OP7T. Very stable and perfect for DD. Keeps data if "local update" (download file via oxygen updater app). Rooting via magisk-patching boot.Img and then "fastboot flash boot magiskpatchedboot.Img" works fine. This "IN" version does not have IN bloat and meant for all op7t. After update booted up fine then do it again to install ob2 into slot B.

Thanks for these details. Does this mean that it is safe and that without data loss it can be flas directly from OB5 (Global) ?
How is battery? Speed? Benefits and cons, compare to OB5 oos11 ?
Your, subjective filing?

OP 7T downgrade from stable Android 12 to Android 11 [EU version]?

Hi guys!
Just today, I updated my 7T [EU model] to the new, stable version of OxygenOS running on Android 12. However, I quickly realized that I much more prefer the old stable OxygenOS 11. Is there a way to downgrade to that version? I've tried scouting online, however, I only found downgrade links to Indian models.
Thanks very much!
Hi my friend!
Just check the official Oneplus forum (oneplus.net). There is a post OxygenOS 12 MP2 for Oneplus 7T/7TPRO that is pinned. There is a download link for all versions. Note that your cell phone will be erased!

Thanks a lot, worked 100%
I just upgraded from 11 to 12, and i loose my connection every hour. Only thing that can bring back my signal is switch the phone into flightmode and back.
So will revert back to 11 as you did.
One questoin did the roll back wipe the phone or was apps and other settings still on the phone?

Edit: Just downgraded and had to root again after the downgrade (patched boot.img)
I am in the same situation. Upgraded to Android 12 and I'm having so many problems. I too am now downgrading. And actually moving away from OnePlus. Too many problems. Gonna try Carl's Nothing phone.

How's it running for you so far ?
This is the 5G speed I'm getting with the OOS 13 OB2 stock Rom no modem retention file.
A few pointers though it is advised to disable the sim before a reboot waiting a minute upon the os booting up and then enabling the sim. This works for me no issues. Sometimes have to enable and disable it twice before it works. But after that no cutting out or anything.
Does anyone have a solid fix for the SIM not connecting right away after reboot on the OB2 13 rom ? It's not that big a deal but would be nice to have a smooth connection without disabling data when restarting the phone ?

As well as Verizon. Probably more useful on Verizon, they have more mmWave coverage, and the 9 Pro has a 5G UW icon for mmWave on Verizon.
There's a new OOS 13 stable update out for the OnePlus 9 Pro. I'm concerned about installing it on my global converted Le2127 that's running fine with the 13 OB2. Has anyone installed it yet on their converted 9 Pro ?

I installed it on my converted 2127 to 2125 and it's perfectly fine! As a matter of fact, I also disabled the 2127 Data Fix module (2 sim card bug) and it's actually coming up as only 1 sim! Confirmed after rebooting the device a couple times just to be on the safe side

And i just read in the Oxygen Updater discord that they have the NA version, that means that the EU might be there as well or coming in less than 48 hours.
