Hi, I would like to buy used Poco F3 but I wonder how long will it be supported by security patches. Is 2023 the last year of updates for this phone?
2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.
It was delivered with Android 11.
Actually Android 12 so calculate for urself.
Should be upcoming Miui 14/Android 13 be last major update while security update will have for another year I think. But you never know. I mean Poco F2 Pro released 2020 was not eligible for Miui 14 but Miui 14 is now going to be release. Only its Miui 14 with Android 12.
Yeah, just got MIUI14 / Android 13, last major update. Also security update are not always every month but sparse.
Dude. This device will unofficially last for so many years with its rich and vast community. Such a capable device is so worth it. Believe me.
I've bought it just for the sake of the hardware. The moment I received it. I instantly unblocked bootloader. A week later, I started my beautiful experience with AOSPs.
Definitely a device you can feel so good about, for having such an amazing performance.
For the MIUI 14 with Android 13 on my Xiaomi phone, the Android security update is 2022-12.

Hi all..
I've just bought a Nokia 7Plus and love it's updates cycle among many other things.
But now I feel I should have waited for OP6 ( my earlier phone had broken in April and thought OP6 would come after June end).
Just one question-
How is the security updates cycle of OnePlus?
Do they make you wait like Honor and HTC or are they better?
Thanks
Up to op5t (and disregarding the current state of the op3/t), they've made you wait up to 2 months or so for a new security patch.
Now, on the stable branch, the op3 hasn't been updated in 4 months, while on the beta branch it's on last month's security patch. The op5/t both are on last month's security patch on both the stable and beta branch.
It's up to anybody's guess whether they'll take better care with the op6, but Google would like to make the companies which sell treble enabled phones and have Android P available on them to keep up with the security updates.
I hope this cleared up any question you had.

I've received my A2 Lite last week, it's a great phone overall.
Has Xiaomi been fast with the updates for their Mi A1 and A2/Lite phones?
Can I expect Security patches in a timely manner?
This is my first ever Mi phone, after being a Motorola user since 2013.
I don't know for A1 and A2, but A2 lite receive the security update each month, in the last 10 days.

Thanks. It looks like the security patches come out at every 15th or 16th day of every month.
I asked because Motorola takes several months just to release a single patch. Nice to see this is not the case with Xiaomi.
Hi!
Question: Xiaomi guarantees updates for up to two years for Android versions?
Motorola, for example, confirms 2 system updates and at least 6 months of security updates for the Moto X4, which is also part of Android One.
I'm asking because I want to buy a device with Android One like Mi A2 Lite.
Pixel is very expensive to bring to my country and I would Android as pure as possible. In other hand, Moto X4 have little problems like camera focus and internal memory.
Sent from my Huawei Nexus 6P using XDA Labs
Almost everywhere I read about A2/Lite, they write that 2 years guaranteed OS updates + 3 years security updates, but does xiaomi conform to this? Are there any guidelines made by google that must be followed? (idk, for example all android one phones must receive security patch until end of given month, etc, etc..) Or are those numbers just assumption..

There is no news on Android Q 10 on general AOSP. After Google releases the new OS I think it would be short enough, like a month or two until Xiaomi customizes the rom.
The last news about Android Q 10 is the Beta 6 launched this month.

Im expecting it like in October, November or December.
Nokia is planning to release Android Q in the fourth quarter this year, Xiaomi probably will be a bit slower, so prolly around end of December or the first quarter of the next year.
Global Rollout:
Android 10 was rolled out on 29th Feb as 11.0.7.0 with Feb security patch but pulled back due to Fingerprint issues, among others.
Later it is rolled out again as 11.0.8.0 on 18th March with March Patch fixing the fingerprint bug among other optimizations. But yet again pulled back.
Then there was a march update based on pie.

On April 24th a stable build of Android 10 with April patch as 11.0.14.0 rolled out, weighing at around 32MB for users already on the previous A10 while 1GB+ for pie users. With this update, fingerprint seems to be working well and EIS while video recording is back. The rollout is staged and is publically disclosed. The availability of builds is as follows:

Mi A3's life is on hold until Android 10! Xiaomi should have just launched the device with Android 10, atleast it would have attracted the customers who ran away bcos 720p.
Funny enough, i am seeing some other companies launch midrangers with 720p!

Thats true even with respect to Custom ROM support, as some devs maybe waiting for Android 10 to be rolled out and the sources be updated, but it's not the only factor in regards to custom ROMS. Mi A3 is one of the best all round devices and I am sure it would get solid development.

Fod has been fixed in pixel experience.
Beast rom got an update which probably kanged the fix too.
There are a few ROMs that are Android 10 available for this device just not yet posted here on XDA.
Some GSI treble ROMs also work but are a bit buggy. Especially with fod.
Nobody is waiting for Android 10 the ROMs are already being worked on it's just patience isn't really a strong point amongst people nowadays. Everyone just feels like they deserve everything now now now

Pls link me to other sites with development on this device, i will like to follow them and enlighten myself. Honestly Xda is trusted, that's why most people are hanging here waiting for devs. The little shortcomings of this device can only be addressed through custom roms and devs. Thnx for opening my eyes beyond.

I meant the development is likely to increase along side the release of android 10. I will update my post to make it clear and not aggressive. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Yeah, A3 needs Android 10 treatment urgently :laugh:
And yes, that HD+ screen thing is very annoying. I just hope it doesn't become yet another stupid trend with manufacturers
Is anyone facing compass sensor bug in September security patch.
Xiaomi announced its MIUI 11 rollout. Although it has nothing to do with Mi A3, Xiaomi Devs may prioritize the rollout of MIUI 11 rather than Android 10 for Mi A3. So we have to see how Xiaomi manages to rollout Android 10 to Mi A3 before end of October.

Xiaomi did not release Android 10 yet still October Patch but this also might imply that Android 10 rollout maybe pushed to early November.
We got October patch this month. So Android 10 won't be available at the end of October
Might be pushed to November
I will add the sources, on why shortly.
Customer Care States No Information(Multiple executives said the same here is one of them):
Chat 1
Customer Care's Information is not solid enough
Look at this chat. He even asks me to ask the XDA dev . Also the fact that few Customer Care executives are saying they have no info means that initial October plan might just be an excuse.

Me:Where can I get 'Official' Information abt Android 10?
CClease visit google community.
Me:But no info there as well
CC:Community link upload your android base concern or features there have many people to using stock android.
Please can someone tell me if the A70 will get android 12 update? S10 is officially getting android 12 and the A70 was released after the S10, also it was a quiet expensive device so I don't see why it won't get the update.
Samsung promised 3 OS updates for the S series, starting from S10. It also promised 4 years of security updates (only 2 OS) for every phone launched in 2019 and beyond.
No OEM loves long-term supports. It's bad for business. So there's no official One UI 4.x for the A70.
But that's why we're here. Of course there'll be some unofficial ports. And it'll be exciting.

S10 series was released in early 2019 even before A70 was released and will still get android 12 so why not the A70? They said they will give A series 3 major OS updates like S series and then they just decide not to do that! This is unacceptable.
EDITED
Maybe that is to force you to buy new phones, I am not sure.

The official word from Samsung was to give their flagship Galaxy S-series five years of support, like Apple, that is 3 major OS updates, and two years of support.
The official word for phones released in 2019 and beyond is to give them 4 years of support, 2 major OS updates, and 2 years of security updates.
Understand this. The 3 major updates are only for the S-series (possible the Note, too) as of Samsung's official essay. That means neither the A-series nor the M-series are included.
That doesn't mean there's no chance we might not get Android 12, officially. But, even if that happened, it'll not be soon. That's how business works. Push people to buy the next phone.
In my country, I can trade my phone with an S10 for less than 50$. Maybe you should buy an S10 if you really want 12.
There was 3 major updates, mine has come with android 9, then 10 and now 11...
