Hello All,
Mainly I want to get rid of Hands Free Activation ("HFA") which is a huge nuisance. I'd prefer NOT to trip KNOX, but if I have to then I will just go have to because HFA is worse I think. If there is a way to disable HFA without rooting at all, that would be the best choice for me!
I bought this phone second hand for use with GSM outside of the USA.
My specs are as follows:
Model: SM-G920P
Android 6.0.1
Samsung Galaxy S6
build: MMB29K.G920PVPU3CPB6
I'm a technical guy but not really a phone expert, so if anyone can tell me on a high level how to remove HFA or root my phone I'd appreciate it. I think once rooted I can disable the HFA app, but as things are now I cannot disable it. Sometimes I can kill the app, but it comes back anyway.
Thanks!
Additional Information
I wanted to mention here guys that I'm not looking for free tech support here. I watched several youtube videos and online tutorials and most of what I am reading says that PingPong won't work because of my version of Android being too recent, and any other method will trip KNOX.
This video seemed the most promising, the one that can be found by searching "How to Root Galaxy S6/S6 Edge! by Anuj Patel" on YouTube (sorry I can't post URLs yet) and it went on to refer to an online guide (Google: "How to Root Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge! [TWRP Recovery + Root] androidrootz") but some of the files my browser won't let me download because it says downloadandroidfiles-DOT-org is an attack site and the idea of a rootkit or malware on my phone is very frightening. In the same YouTube page a poster asks if it trips KNOX and the same author Anuj says it does but if you do not want to, to try this method (Google: "How to Root Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge without Tripping Knox! [PingPong Root] anroidrootz"). But again, it seems dependent on an older version of android and/or downloading files from the "attack site" mentioned above.
I just wanted to make it clear that I have done many hours of research.
Thanks,
Bescalan

I'm not certain on removing the HFA or what its dependency among other things may be. You can achieve root following the OP instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s6/general/guide-how-to-root-marshmallow-sm-g920p-t3338694
All the files are safe as theyre shared by respected Devs here. Be sure to press the Thanks button for them.
Make sure you untick the reboot option in Odin before you flash the TWRP file.

I appreciate the prompt reply! Considering your first comment, can anyone please let me know if they have had experience disabling the HFA?
Just remove HFA, you dont need to be rooted.
Search for package disabler app, and disable freeze the service "system update" (sprintdm.apk) and done.
Okay, great, so HFA seems gone. Thanks!
Unfortunately, now my problem is an "Invalid SIM" notice that comes up after a while and disables my 3G Internet. A message that the SIM was locked comes up (I have to click OK), and then a persistent SIM icon is in the top notification area that states: "Invalid SIM".
I went to my local CDMA telecom provider and they said that because I installed Marshmallow I have made it very hard for the phone to work. Unfortunately, it was the previous owner that upgraded it. I am not sure a downgrade is possible. They put in a Sprint chip and left it in, but I do not even want to use a SIM (because I'm using CDMA) and the Sprint Chip does not seem to help much if at all. There is no Sprint in my country anyway, so I'm not sure if my phone company thought it would help with the Invalid SIM message. The only way for me to get 3G back is to power cycle my phone and use it before the invalid SIM message comes up again after a few minutes.
My research has suggested that this is because the phone is locked, but I am wondering if there is a way around this. Perhaps I can disable another .apk file to stop this from happening since it does not happen from the very start, much like the HFA.
My specs are:
IMEI(MEID) AND SN 990005771730596 01 MEID 99000577173059 My Phone is a Galaxy S6 running 6.0.1 Android and for Spring. It keeps saying INVALID SIM. I tried to pay for Unlock Service from safeunlockcode.com but they said:" Thank you for your email. We are sorry but we are not able to unlock your device because we don't support for unlocking IMEIs starting with 99000."
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean that the free advice of not needing root is worth its cost?

Try going to Settings>Mobile Nerworks>Network Mode, and select CDMA Only, see how that goes. You may try toggling Airplane Mode instead of a power cycle until resolved *shrugs*

I mean that there was some funky issues with the application license that a lot of people who paid couldn't access the pro version. If you got it, woot.

Oh! I rooted anyway so I didnt try that app. Doubt it would have worked without root tho I did try some other package killers.
Hi I have the same issue on my S6 G920P... It keeps asking me to put the original SIM to carry on the activation.
I am just tired of this S6, any options even if I have to pay, I will.
Ohhh forgot to mention that I have this problem since I updated the firm to marshmallow

I think this is on to something in that you are saying if I don't need GSM then why not just disable GSM entirely and hopefully avoid the Invalid SIM message. Unfortunately, it still does not work. Is there a service/app I can disable that does the verification?
If I take out the SIM, 3G never comes up and from the start I have a persistent top notification message: "No SIM, Insert SIM Card."
I can still make calls, but no 3G internet
Any other suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
if you rooted your S6 already, just install the titanium backup app and freeze the service "system update".

Thank you for the reply.
But there is no System Update? There are two "Software Updates" I get when filtering by "Update":
1) Software Update 1.1.57
2) Software Update 3.1.12
Are these the ones you are suggesting I freeze? Because I can't find a "system update"

Oh, if it's SprintDM it's because I also renamed that .apk file in hopes it would stop the SIM problem from re-occurring. If it is still happening, then I doubt rename the .apk from .bak back into .apk and then freezing it would help--what do you think?
Saafir said:
You WILL need root access, unless you use a PC version debloater via adb of some sorts. And that may not work. Anywho, after root, you'll need to navigate to system>priv app. Here you will want to find and rename "Activation.apk" to "Activation.apk.bak"
If that doesnt stop HFA entirely...
The next one you will want to find is "SprintSyncMLSvc.apk" to "SprintSyncMLSvc.apk.bak"
And if it STILL persists..
"SprintSyncMLPhoneIF.apk to "SprintSyncMLPhoneIF.apk.bak"
This will prevent the OS from loading them.

So I've come a long way. I rooted my phone, I apparently unlocked it, re-flashed it, did a hard reset. Now I have signal (can make calls), and my 3G hardly works.
Basically, 3G does not come up at all if I have HFA disabled. HFA when enabled goes through three steps:
1. It says "Welcome! Configuring your device for voice and data." (during this time 3G works, but it is only a few seconds)
2. It says "Waiting to retry" and counts down for like a minute before going back to step 2 (during this time, 3G does NOT WORK)
3. After a bunch of failed retries, it says: "Activation not completed". (and 3G stops altogether until I restart the phone.)
So, how can I disable HFA if when I disable it 3G never comes up to begin with?

I am SIM unlocked, but I want to use a CDMA not. GSM network. UICC unlock, if I have HFA enabled takes me back to HFA. If I have disabled HFA, UICC unlock appears to so nothing.
As per @yaibakt posted, I can confirm that freezing the System Update Package 1.15.32 with Titanium Backup on G920P 6.0.1 PF4 (Domestic Unlock U.S.A) actually kills the Hands Free Activation pop up in every boot, thanks.

Deactivate Hands Free Activation ( HFA)
Open the calculator app
Type in (+30012012732+
This opens drparser mode
On that pad type ##27263#
Then hit yes to reset provisioning
The device may reboot a couple of times and may even cycle back to hands free activation one more time, but after that, it will stop and be activated properly
You're Welcome : good:
Have a very weird problem, and think it is because of any app...
I use a galaxy tab s4 lte as a phone, it is a fully functional phone oversized... it is great, and im using tablets as phone 3 or 4 years ago... first was galaxy tab s2 lte, then s3, and now s4
S2 worked great... S3 worked great but from march of this year, randomly phone disconects fron network just to receive calls.... sms, 4g and wifi always work, but canr receive calls till i make a call... it is like it disconnects from network... i notice that, because i have (from the times of s2) my phone forwarding calls to my wife's phone when my phone is turned off or im in a plane for example...
But with tab s3, from march, i was in home with my wife and someone that call me ringed directly to my wife phone... as if my phone was turned off...a lot of times saw that... but when i place a call... it start receiving calls again...
Went to tmobile, changed the sim and same problem...
Bought a new S4 lte ($1000) and from the day 1 same problem...
Any help? Im pretty sure it could be any app... but dont know where to start
Factory reset, then install your apps, one at the time until it happens again. It's long process but unless someone came across it it's the only way to find out which app causes it. Perhaps not the only way. Have you tried to replicate it? Reboot your tablet, then ring it to check if it receives it. If not, you can uninstall one app, reboot, call, uninstall , repeat until you find which app it is. It's likely quicker this way but you need to be able to replicate it.
Most likely is the VoLTE is not set up right. And sounds like fallback to 3G for voice is not happening. Try locking it on to 3G and leave it in standby. Check whether inbound calls are coming through when you are camped on 3G.
It is possible to edit your CSC file to get it working properly. but you'll need to know all the correct fields to change and will require you to root, install custom recovery etc.
I haven't thought about that. Try that first. I mean locking to 3G.

Sounds good... but would hate if this was the problem, dont want to root phone... anyway... s3 was working ok till march... one year worked great! Because of that i think it can be a setting or app... there is any way yo change volte? I have seen something like that in any menu but cant find now
Seeing about volte... i remember on s2, and on s3 im not quiete sure, the hd call icon, related to volte, bit now have not that option in phone app settings
Thanks
I don't think the tabs4 t835n makes calls over lte, only 3g as per the specs on the samsung site. Mine always reverts to 3g when making voice calls. It still sounds great but this is the way it makes or receives calls.
Continuous Talk Time (3G WCDMA) (Hours)
Up to 50
That being said, it would be great to find out if it is capable and since there is root now, take the settings from the note9 and push it to the tabs4 T835n.
Have you tried if it receives calls after reboot?

I'm not sure it's possible without root access. You could try extracting the correct csc file for s9 and flash it via ODIN.
If you have root access you can peruse your csc file using this app:

Maybe you can ask your carrier to disable VoLTE for your account?
You will be trying at your own risk when you try to flash alternate CSC, remember you can always flash back to original.
You could also try flashing a complete firmware from a different country, check firmware available on Sammobile, search by your model code. TAB s4

Its me again friend... sorry for bothering you so much!
Look... here is the think...
I have downloaded two full firmwares...
the T835NKOU1ARGH_T835NKOO1ARGH_KOO for the T835N (the only firmware sammobile has for T835N)
the T835CZHU1ARH3_T835CTGY1ARH3_TGY.zip for the T835C (the latest firmware sammobile has for T835N)
When i extracted the CSC from that two firmwares i saw they are differents sizes! T835C is more than double than T835N...
Look at the picture attached...
T835N CSC File
CSC_OMC_KOO_T835NKOO1ARGH_CL13953229_QB19044239_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
47MB
T835C CSC File
CSC_OMC_TGY_T835CTGY1ARH3_CL14074605_QB19357398_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5
112MB
What do you think about this? would be safe to flash a file, from other device with double the size...
It is the only thing i can do (talking about flashing other CSC) because on Sammobile there is only one complete firmware for the T835N... is not like other phones that you can choose country... the only country is korea
Thanks in advance....

I believe if you flash only the HOME_CSC it will preserve your data.
You don't need root
First up though, I would strongly recommend you try to back up your data using Samsung Smartswitch (back up to SD card). And try to back up to Samsung Cloud (not sure if this still is a thing). So you can restore when things go pear shaped
I believe the chances of getting VoLTE working faultlessly on your Korean tab are pretty close to 0. But if that's what you want, I would first try flashing a known working CSC from a device with same android version on YOUR carrier (Note 9 maybe?). This is unlikely to work, I think Samsung has been encrypting CSC files recently. You may need to flash Korean firmware at this point.
Secondly, I'd try flashing an alternate csc_home package from another country. Try the one you've downloaded. If you search T835 on sammobile there are many countries listed. I'd try XSA Australia if the first one doesn't do what you want.
You're on your own my friend.
If all this is getting too hard, just leave your tab locked to 3g in it's current state.

Again friend thanks for your help is really helpfull
I rooted my a325m by patching the stock AP file with magisk, had to use FRP hijacker by hagard to be able to flash the patched file. I root uninstalled several apps for debloating. The phone worked fine for like a couple of weeks, and now, suddenly I find there's the no SIM indication, and in settings -> about phone it says IMEI: unknown, and in software information it says bandbase version: unknown.
The firmware version I used was exactly the same as when I bought it, A325MUBU2AUJ4, with the right csc (ARO in my case).
EDIT: after a couple reboots, the bandbase version now shows, but still no IMEI or SIM detected.
Can anyone help me? What happened? What can I do? Thanks in advance!
flash all the with odin the correct rom. the twrp unstable and more like shell and who knows what bugs have magisk. until why have a good recovery i would no root my phone reallly if you want to unisstall the software from samsung and google i would say to use the universal debload https://github.com/0x192/universal-android-debloater.
UPDATE: it got unknown baseband againI
I relocked the bootloader and now in download mode I have an option to "show barcodes" pressing the side button. The barcodes show the right IMEI and serial number. Maybe stuff wasn't erased, just inaccesible by the rom?
I was told by a technician to flash the original ROM (already did) then root again. Tried several versions but not an older bandbase because downgrade is forbidden by the bootloader, apparently, to no avail. Would try a newer baseband but i'm afraid it will not work and will be unable to go back to the origial baseband version.
Weird thing is, there is the EFS directory but no /data/nvram or /dev/nvram
Same happened to me.
I tried everything I could think of to get the IMEI back and couldn't.
It was still under warranty and I took it to Samsung.
Before taking it I unrooted it and locked it again.
They fixed it for me with no problem.

How did you root it?
as I understand, after rooting, warranty is void since it implies flashing a magisk patched boot image or AP tar. In my case I was indeed able to relock the bootloader and flash the original firmware but upon entering download mode, it shows "warranty void 0x01".
was it the same in your case?
Flashed original firmware, relocked phone, and then went to Samsung Office. I had no problem with it

most likely the warranty vod bit was on (you can check it yoursef by entering odin mode) and they didn't notice
so you got it fixed for free?
did they mention what did the fix consist in? I heard they say they change the motherboard, which is a lie, they just write the nvram or efs with the right stuff
ah sos de argentina? lol where did you take it? to a samsung store? I'm from neuquen and got it at musimundo, but here's a samgung store too
myself i was thinking of waiting for an update which should be soon, lock bootloader, flash some official rom and pull off the cable so it gives an upgrade error and doesn't enter download mode, then take it to the store
Unroot before update and unlock
wipe the cache partition . then reset the phone using recovery mode . this is at you own risk .
did you fix it?

nope, went to samsung, got rejected cause warranty bit on, no choice but take it to a service and I suppose they could do something with Chimera Tool, Z3X or something like that, which, as I've seen, claims to fix it in minutes (and the client gets charged handsomely, like 100 USD)
From Samsung I got the same bullsh*t I read in some threads: "this phone has been tampered with and it's a hardware problem, the board must be replaced"
For the technically savvy, I got a strange Magisk log which kind of looks like it may be the problem. It seems to try to "unlock"* some devices on bootup but gets "permission denied". One of them may be the nvram or something like that. I have an EFS directory but no NVRAM directory anywhere or /dev/nvram.
very strange, i guess we gotta not use magisk until its bug fixed.. i have seen other people have the same problem too, but anyways, i sent my phone to get probably JTagged for 54 us dollars, if they fix it well, great right, but if they dont i guess ill have to buy another motherboard from samsung or go to another city... and the best part is that while my phone is there, im using an S4 mini from 2013 with custom android 11 rom hehe
i saw that auh firmware causes empty imei in another thread and to flash aug, maybe you could try this? https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/has-anyone-successfully-rooted-this-a32-4g.4326193/post-85788523

or atleast use magisk with aug or even older firmware if you can... is your a32 A325M or A325F?
well, your firmware is A325MUB"U2"AUJ4 and that means u cant downgrade to older versions that have binary1 so maybe you could try using samsung's new version which was released past month

I found it impossible to downgrade, download mode doesn't allow it. Couldn't find a tutorial to do it either.

Good evening, I have the urgency to publish this thread for a "simple" reason... I found after a couple of years, among my "computer remains" a Samsung Galaxy M11 (SM-M115F) that I had completely removed from having. In summary, I turned it back on and currently my smartphone is blocked by FRP Google. I must admit that I am an expert in the computer field and in the past I have easily performed "frp bypass", but with this model I am having countless difficulties in completing the unlocking process. Given that I have used innumerable methods (Talk back, APK disabler pro, 4ukey etc.) The Android version it mounts is 11. I hope that someone more experienced than me can recommend a good method to put an end to my stress in finding a solution. Thanks in advance.
PS: It is not possible to install Alliance Shield x on this smartphone, because it is no longer supported by the Galaxy Store and I cannot install any type of APK or App because it has ALWAYS crashed

unfortunately the first method will not work due to the security patch
Hi Did you find a solution to the FRP problem ? I am facing the same issue, please share if you could resolve yours.
Thanks
Have a used s9 got off ebay. worked at first but forgot the p/w to my old email. Now im unable to get into the phone. Attempted with latest Odin with a firmware to flash it, would like to acutally use the phone with the current email that its being used. Anyway of getting around this without having to bring it to a store. Really would like to use the phone and possibly put TWRP on it and custom ROM

Look for some instructions yourself on how to remove the FRP lock for your device.
checked that last night, but.... the d/l i had found said a possible virus or corrupted file.
not the correct area but also have a samsung a03s and needs either a soft or hard reset cuz when it turns on, goes to a blue screen with japanese or chinese letters saying unable to update software
Just use sam frp. Link is below. https://www.bypassfrpfiles.com/2022...d_SamFW_FRP_Tool_V471_Latest_Version_All_Free
If successful, which is by no means certain, you can make a donation to developer @Tungtata - author of SamFw Tool 4.7.1.
