I have faced the exact same problem
I have faced the same exact problem and I have solved using two steps:-
1-First Flash back the stock recovery image ( You can find it in the previous links it will be named recovery.img)
2-Go to the setting mode in your phone and turn on the debugging mode , then connect the Phone via usb to the pc/labtop , then Open the ADB command line interface through your cmd CLI and then write the following commands in respectively :-
A-adb reboot bootloader
"now your phone will reboot into the Fastboot mode"
2-Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
"Flashing the stock image of recovery assuming that the name is recovery.img"
3-After the flashing finishes just either reboot using the menu list option " physically through up/down volume buttons and confirm selection of reboot into the Recovery mode:"
4-Once you enter the stock recovery mode select the option to install the updates form zip or sd card , then determine the update file and it has an intuitive name , it will take a time to finish , once you have done reboot your phone , let the optimization completes and then you're done!
Notice : The Jelly bean 4.1 , 4.1.1 are both inclusively supporting the Arabic Language in the menu and the receiving and sending of text ...etc.

For Install OTA Update.zip Must Observe Some Trick !
1: When you Want using Manual Update Your Device Should Be Factory Reset
2: No Root Detect on Your Device
3: only Installed Stock ROM
=========================
Going To Bootloader and Wait For Message About [SCAN] OTA File .
Saved Scanned File By Search Bootloader / Now One That Resolved Name By Scanning / Rename OTA file To That Find Name by Scanning
Copy Files XXXX To [ Only ROOT (sdcard) ] And Reboot NOW
Again Coming To Bootloader and Waiting For MEssage Do YouWant To Update ?
Next press UP Volume For Accept Update .
Automatically Your Device is Reboot and Wait for Progress Updating !
Congratulation Your Devicedhas Been Updated
I did not understand anything is possible explain the grace Thread

hello every one,i have desire 816 w (a5 dug j__15)
the problem is that i have downloaded ota official android update( 5.0.2) but because of having custom recovery,i couldnt use it,i simply copy the zip file to pc then flashed the stock recovery and put the update zip file back to download folder(where it has been before) on phone storage, then rebooted the phone, but it does not find update and when i check for new software update it says you have to download it,(it is already placed on download folder on phone storage)what should i do to not to download 839MB again?
i also tried updating from stock recovery but it says failed to map file
i flashed twrp and tried installing zip but it has error too,i'm really confused
thanks
That's easy you need a handy file manager on your phone (I personally use ES file explorer); put the complete OTA.zip somewhere else first. then hit download update, after a couple of minutes turn off your Wifi and mobile data, the download will be paused. now simply delete the small file in your file manager and replace it with your own complete file (names will naturally be the same, so no problem there). then turn on your internet again, it will recognize the file and proceed with update without further download.
Hello,
if someone can help me a bit to upgrade my Zenfone 2 (Z008)
I used the one click tools to root it 2 months ago and now I want update the firmware.
So i used again the tool to unroot my phone and downloaded the last version of firmware : Z008-WW-2.19.40.23
I restart on recovery mode, get the error robot and restart recovery mode again
I chose "apply update from ADB" . I see my device when I type : adb devices but when I do : sideload myfile.zip I have a problem 'error: protocol fault'
EDIT: Finnaly its worked for the sideload but now i got an error with /system/app/asusbrower/asusbrower.ap .. during the verification -.-"
maybe because i have deleted some useless system apps :/ ?
what should i do? thanks
