Hi fellow Xoomers!
I need your help finding a keyboard for my Xoom that comes with USB and HDMI ports.
I actually don't know if such thing exists, but if yes then I need it!
I've almost deserted my PC and my Xoom is doing all the work I need but still there's the need to connect flash drives, use HDMI...etc.
I'd really appreciate it if someone had a link for this.
Thank you in advance!
I use a dell bluetooth keyboard if I need a real keyboard. It is nice since bluetooth is wireless. I'm wondering if this little hub might be something that would work for you. Personally I don't have one. For HDMI, I have a separate cable.

This is not what I wanted but certainly was helpful.
Thanks!
I use the bluetooth motorola keyboard, but if you want a laptop style one this one is surely for you: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTOROLA-BL...ccessories&hash=item337768b411#ht_2286wt_1185
For HDMI I use a cable as well, but you can buy a dock station also
I need a laptop-like keyboard for xoom 2, but I didn't find anything

Now that the source code has dropped, are any developers considering adding USB OTG/Host Mode anytime soon? I'd be willing to donate if someone got it working or was actively working on it.
For anyone wondering what this is: USB OTG/Host Mode allows you to connect other devices to your E4GT (IE: Flash Drive, HDD, Keyboard, Monitor, DLSR Camera, etc.) and use/access them. It is supported by the International SGS2 and the US Carriers, but for some reason Sprint disabled this functionality in the kernel.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802740 credit for this link goes to dberend! It's a usb otg helper link, but our phone are missing some modules if I understand correctly. They end in the file extension ".ko"
Last I heard Agats kernel was recognizing that a OTG device was connected! I'm not sure if it is working completely yet though.
Responses are appreciated!

USB OTG/Host Mode lets you connect a USB device to your E4GT, like a Thumb Drive, External Hard Drive, Keyboard, xBox Controller, etc. It's useful for a variety of reasons.
If this is in the wrong section, will a mod move it? Thanks in advance!
Why would you want to reprogram a perfectly good chip?

To add functionality?
It would be nice to get that.

Although I wouldn't use this, I can see why people would want this. I use it on my tablet all the time so people without a tab can benefit from this.

Yeah its a very useful feature. I heard a few people mention the E4GT supports it, but that it was disabled in the kernel
It doesn't appear that very many people are interested in this, should I let this thread die?
i am still interested in this
I would use this function for sure.. even though you can already make these by combining a power cord with some kind of microUSB-to-USB adapter.. basically a "powered" mUSB-to-sUSB adapter..
Before I read about them, I bought an adapter that I thought would work, but not the right one.. then I read about making them yourself is possible.. but I never tried it yet..
If they were an already built accessory, I would use it to mount a multi-port USB hub, then connect a keyboard and mouse.. I of course would need to figure out how to use both the HDMI out AND the USB hub.. it would be seriously sick to use your phone literally like a mini PC!

The SGS2 International and SGS2 from other carriers supports it, but for some reason Sprint disabled it in the Kernel? I'm not 100% why its not yet supported..... all I know is that its possible, and I want to be able to mount my Flash Drive, HDD, and plug my phone into an HDMI converter for my HDTV and bluetooth a mouse/keyboard combo.... mini-PC, like you said
I added a poll to see what level of interest people have about this

Very interested, there is an app for controlling Canon DSLRs that I want to use which requires this.
Thanks for not flaming guys. I'm moving this to general as it looks like it could become more of a discussion thread.

I am also interested. I bought a few of these usb cables on ebay- but none worked. I would like to use a usb keyboard...which right now I am considering buying another bluetooth keyboard.
I'm also extremely interested. Would be very awesome.

Since the new model tablet does not have the 30-pin charging port, does anyone know if they are developing a mini USB charging adapter that can accommodate a full size USB pen drive, stick, etc...
With the understanding this tablet is new and not very many people have it yet, I thought I would put that question out there, thoughts?

Now all you need is for the tablet to have OTG support. For some reason this is always a big question mark.
I have a USB OTG cable and have used it often with my Galaxy Nexus, but depending on the ROM I had to install an app (that needs root - by chainfire I believe) for it to work. So I wouldn't be too surprised if USB OTG didn't work out of the box.

Maybe this works better on non-AOSP devices. As far as I know, Samsung also has their own Bluetooth drivers too, for example. Maybe this is a similar situation, I don't really know. I've never owned a non-Nexus device, I'm sure someone else with more experience with Samsung devices can clarify this for us.
I tested USB storage and it's working .. but maybe selective
Tried 5 sticks .. 4 worked except a Sony thumb drive gave USB is blank and it's led only blinked for a second.
Also noticed that processor got hot quickly.. as it opened the file explorer or maybe it's the media server and indexing
I've used the otg cable with a mouse successfully

External HDD
Hi.
Has anyone tried external hard drives, do you recognize?
Thank you!
i've tried 4 different portable hd's from 320 to 1.5TB. it recongizes the device and spins them up, but they're all ntfs. i can't even get paragon to mount them. i also tried my hacked powered usb otg (made it for rooting the chromecast) and still the same results. if we can get a kernel with ntfs support it should work fine.

Tried this one from the German Amazon. Works like a charm. HDDs are working as well. The most handy while travelling, though: HDMI
As a new user I can't post links. Try searchin amazon.de for Callstel 5in1 MHL-Adapter HDMI, USB, SD für Samsung Galaxy S2/S3 u.a.

1. No
2. Yes, from the standard device power supply
I have a motorola otg cable that does NOT work on my note. However I have this OTG cable (minus the 11 pin adapter--I bought it in 2012) which DOES work.

Just received this

Works perfectly. Recognized my logitech wireless keyboard/mouse , 32 gb thumbdrive, hp passport..... so far every thing I've plugged into it. Can't beat the 6.99 price tag either!

Hello there,
I have another question regarding these OTG cable/hub solutions.. are there any ways to connect an USB device and simultaneously charge your tablet?
like for example an usb game-controller and be able to play games while charging (or watching movies from a (compatible) hard disc while charging)
Thanks for any answers!

I was thinking the same thing...
I haven't really had time to check, but any dvb-t stick that's been around for some time where the Linux kernel supports it "natively" should do, right?

That depends. I have a few and they do vary in how much power they suck out of the usb port. I have a Hauppauge Hybrid 900 (950 in the US) that gets very hot and drinks power like an alchie. I also have an Asus mini 3000 I got for my eeePC 700 that sips very genteelly. Both have native Linux support but since I bought the above dongle, I won't be trying those.
The other problem is that you would need some android TV software that could interact with those sticks. The programs on Google Play seem to be very hardware specific.
Hello guys. Does this device support OTG?
I have an OTG cable (received when i bought a pc controller) and it doesn't work. Should I try with another cable? Or it's just an illusion?
I have another question... somewhere on the web it seems that our device will receive Android 9 within the first quarther of 2019. Is this an illusion too?
works fine for me . Usb sticks are recognised and i can use a ps3 joypad to play games too . Try another cable and see how it goes
