What title says... I'm thinking about a trade in but I'm not convinced yet. I mean I love this phone and the concept of it, but the biggest drawback that annoys me is it's form factor when folded, like having a brick.
Discuss...
I can't trade in my fold 4 for at samsung. It's not listed here.
Im keeping my fold4 and s22u. S23u isn't an upgrade for me and waste of money even with trade in
Not for me, I am totally convinced by the Fold 4 form-factor and I don't wanna go back.
If they upgrade the crease and the camera set up I will look for Z Fold 5, but candybar form factor are over for me.
$750 for Fold4 is a slap in the face! $500 even worse for S22 Ultra.
Apple cut trade in value too.
A form of shrinkflation, I suppose.
But it sucks.
Aside from a slightly faster chip and even more gimmicky camera (200MP, c'mon!), it's the same damn phone! Save your money.
Definitely not.
before the fold 4, i was using a note 9 and a tablet as my daily drivers. i was holding off changing my phone until something really different came. i skipped on the first 3 folds and finally took the fold 4 as it met my requirements. with that, my perspective changed and i don't really see myself going back to a slab phone. i've no issues with the thickness or the weight. i'm not even bothered one bit with the crease. if anything, i'll upgrade to a fold 5 if the said rumors turn out to be true about it having a silo for the spen. if the fold 5 just comes out with say new cameras, it's a skip for me.

I think its a matter of price structure as well.
Fold 4 was launched at a $1800 price tag compared to S23U at $1200... when you take into account the launch prices, then obviously it doesn't make much sense for Samsung to offer you 1k for your Fold 4 and have you purchase S23U at $200.
And at this point, every smartphone upgrade will be minor improvements due to its reached nearly the ceiling of how much it can be tweaked.
Still waiting for 16MP f1.2 camera! ;-)
The S23 Ultra is tempting to me for two reasons. 1) you'll be able to buy a case for it that has a built in battery - something I loved about all my Note phones and 2) that 200mp camera. Not enough to make me switch though.
I'm getting the S23 Ultra but keeping the Fold 4 too.

I definitely had the option to trade in my Fold 4, only offered $800 for it but I don't use it so i decided to switch them out. I also have a pixel 7 pro....it was just too buggy for me and didn't have some features that I miss off my S22.

Just traded my S22 ultra for the fold last week to get more trade in credit. But here in the Netherlands it's not listed as trade in. I think I'll wait for the summer aa last year for a good trade in offer.

It's listed, you have to scroll all the way to the bottom
It was there this afternoon for a while but now it's gone. 440 euro's is not enough. Sell my fold seperatly. Or will wait.
Wait for Fold 5.
It will have better CPU and (of course!) it folds.
Also gone is the (multiple) trade in offer. I got rid of old ipad air 2s and they gave me $150 for one!
I'm actually considering ordering the S23 Ultra not because i don't like my Fold 4 it's great & it be a shame to let it go, it's just I recently passed my motorbike test & I haven't found anything suitable for the Fold 4 to fit to the handle bars, while keeping it completely protected & waterproof while still being useable with gloves.
With the S23 Ultra or any other candy bar phone for that matter there are tons of mounting options for motorbikes, plus being ip68 I can leave the phone to the elements with a screen protector on & have no ill effects other than if i drop the bike.
I have considered buying a cheap Chinese phone just for the motorbike , but having 2 sims or swapping my sim card every time i use the bike will leave people confused with having 2 numbers, or become a chore keep swapping sim card between phones every time i want to use my bike.
I think S23 line is last with snap for international version so yes worth it. Trade for f4 not for me.
I traded mine in. I only paid $550 or so for the fold 4, watch 5 44mm, spen and case. So $750 trade in is a win.
Love my fold, but I have a problem. LOL Cant pass up new tech...
For me, I think I'm sending my Fold 4 back and going for the S23 simply because of the cameras. It's a really tough decision because I utterly love the Fold 4. But as an amateur photographer, I'm struggling with the quality of the Fold 4's cameras. Even with Gcam, it's not much better. Stock main camera is very similar to Note 9.

I'm sitting on a fence I've been scooting on for the past 2 phone upgrades. I currently have a Note 9 and in my head, the natural choice would be a Note 10+. That had been my thinking until Sprint released the OP7 Pro 5G. I know all the specs and all the differences between both on paper. I guess maybe I'm trying to get someone to convince me one way or another. I don't think I've seen a screen better than the ones on Samsung flagships and I'm afraid I'd be trading down if I went OP7. I know about the 90hz screen but since I've never seen it on a phone, I could live without it since I wouldn't know what I'm missing out on. At the same time, my s-pen use has dropped dramatically since I first used on on the Note 4 and honestly, I never use it unless I'm cropping a screenshot, which is rare. Someone just slap the ish out of me and tell me what to choose -_-
Edit: Forgot to mention, I live in Dallas. So I'd have access to Sprints 5G, as rudimentary as it is now. Hence the fence sitting

Depends on how much you take selfies as well. The S-pen is good for snapping pictures like a remote that I enjoy. Also Dex to put the phone folders on the desktop is something that's cool. You're right though. Nothing beats the Samsung AMOLED screen. The screen is a little larger it looks like with the 6.8" than the One Plus at 6.67". Looks like the One Plus doesn't have wireless charging if you used that. Only other main differences is the battery on the Note 10+ is larger at 4300mAh vs the One Plus at 4000mAh. 91% screen to body ratio on the Note 10+ vs the 88.5% on the One Plus. I wouldn't worry too much regardless on which phone you get with 5G since 5G is very limited and very finicky right now. Sure, it might be better next year but they said it's a lot harder to maintain a 5G signal since it uses millimeter waves and much harder to penetrate through walls. I don't see 5G really getting steam until probably the end of next year going into 2021.
Water resistance. I own a pool that I use all the time and snap pictures of the family. The One+ it is t an option. Is this a few $100 to me... Yes.

10+ 512GB 5G. When using 5G, it's like you are in a different planet. Truest me. And, as everyone else dumps their cell phone because it doesn't support 5G, you'll already be where you want to be.

Note10+. I had the same battle basically, in my mind. Screen, DeX, s-pen, IP68, wireless charging, WAY better camera (that's what made up my mind), most premium feeling and looking phone around... Samsung just has an amazing thing going right now. This phone is the most incredible piece of technology I've ever owned. I'm coming from a Note9, which I previously thought was basically unbeatable (only upgraded due to the amazing deals). SO glad I chose this phone.

I appreciate all these answers. Its definitely reinforcing a lot of the feelings I have for the Note series. I really do feel like if I choose the 10+, I'd be just as happy as this. But I've always had an itch to try something new once the shine of a new note wears off. Part of me feels that may be due to the almost insignificant jump from the note 8 to 9 and I have a feeling going from 9 to 10+ would be a lot more impressive. I still have time to decide, but I really wanted to put feelers out whole I could. Thanks so much, dudes

Thing is, you'll get the opposite answer from OnePlus 7 forums. They'll tell you to get the OP7 Pro because of the 90Hz screen, no hole punch camera, faster updates, faster overall UI (I sincerely doubt that any UI could be faster than this Note10+ on performance mode, Nova launcher, and 0.5 scale animations though... This is INSANE), and Oxygen OS instead of Samsung's bloated UI. That's what they'll say, whether true or not. So I hope you put out feelers on both sides or the battle wasn't fair! Either way, this phone is better for ME. Not sure what's better for you.

That's exactly what I did, lol. Made basically the same thread on the OP7 forum to gauge both sides. I think I'll come down to me trying both out in store and getting a feel for both.
I might be able to offer another opinion for you, but with the same results.
I was a pretty loyal iPhone fan for the longest time since the 3GS. I had a couple of forays into the Android world, with the OnePlus One and LG V20, because like you, I wondered what it was like on the other side. I really liked the OnePlus One, but a bad customer service experience turned me off to them until the 6T came out and I decided to try them again. I had the phone for less than 48 hrs before I brought the phone back for another iPhone.
Fast forward to August 2019 and I fell in love with the Note 10+ instantly. I had always wanted one but the Note 7(?) fiasco turned me away. I went in to Best Buy one day and got some hands on time with it, and I was hooked. It's the first time I've ever pre-ordered a phone, it was very exciting. Now that I've been using the phone for awhile, I can honestly say it's been a great experience. Camera, screen and the Samsung ecosystem are all top notch. And, no buyers' regret!
Anything but the Note 10 or 10+ It's not all rosy as it seems, the camera quality is sub par and you'll be constantly disappointed when you open the camera to take a pic. Call quality is not great because of the weird placement of the speakers. 60Hz display seems retarded compared to 90Hz, huge difference. Now I don't know One plus 7 camera quality but Pixel 4XL will definitely have much better camera. So coming from another Note 10+ owner don't buy this iteration, it's basically crap. I owned a note 8 and 5 prior to this. My next phone will definitely be a Pixel or One Plus.

The camera is not sub par. It may not be the best, but it is definitely in the top 3 or 4. Also I have never, ever had a problem with call quality although I think that front facing speakers do sound better, but call quality and sound as it pertains to music or video are two different things. Fact is, it is only loudmess is only slightly less strong compared to the S10 (+), which has front facing speakers. This iteration isn't crap, but is different. If you are yearning for the productivity of yesteryear, wait for next years Note (or maybe the year after that). The S line and the Note line will probably be merged and the Fold will more than likely inherit the S-pen and become the new productivity device. Remember, even though the Pixel and OnePlus are great phones, the screens and the technology everyone is raving about, comes from Samsung. They also made the screens for the 3 and 3a. As for the 60Hz v. 90Hz debate, yes it is a noticable difference, but does that mean the Note experience sucks. No it doesn't suck and the fast charging is comparable to the OP7 Pro and it also offers fast wireless charging, as well as reverse wireles charging. While not necessary, wireless charging is extremely convenient. You can find wireless chargers in coffee shops resteraunts, airports and even in a lot of newer cars. Its great to be able to just throw your phone on the dash while driving across town and still have all of its fuctionality while its charging. In my opinion the Note 10+ is a great phone; overpriced, but a great phone none the less. BTW, I do own both Pixel and One Plus devices, as well as Xiaomi, Vivo and Huawei. So I do have several phones that I can compare against.
Just looking for some input on which is the preferred model between the ultra and Plus?
I can get a good deal on both here in Canada with the ultra being $1279.99 cdn and the plus being $1069.99 cdn.
I like big phones but both have similar size screens and specs are obviously similar. The camera is the big difference but I don't know if the ultra is actually any better?
Thoughts, opinions?
Other than the zoom capability, screen size and battery size, the phones are the same. You probably won't use the Ultra's Space Zoom as much as you think, unless you have a tripod all the time. The difference in size and weight are noticeable. If you don't mind the Ultra being (slightly) less pocketable, and you don't mind paying more, then go for the Ultra. Otherwise get the S20+. I've had a S20+ since launch day and don't regret choosing the S20+ over the Ultra whatsoever. The S20+ fits in all of my pockets with ease, the screen is plenty big, and it lasts 36+ hours between charges.
Whichever model you choose, get the Snapdragon version if possible. Exynos is a disaster this year.
I went with the S20+. The added zoom wasn't enough for me to justify the extra $200. I'm not much of a photographer. The battery on my S20+ is terrific as it is, and the screen size is also right at a sweet spot for me. I think the S20+ is the best of the three units, at the moment.
Just got my plus yesterday. Didn't want to spend 400$ more. While it was shipping I did also get a crazy deal on a like new s20 uktra, ended up being cheaper than the plus. It'll be here in a few days so I can compare. Today the battery on the plus did very well, would have lasted me all day but before going out for the evening gave it a quick charge. The screen, camera, ergonomics are actually very pleasing. I only wanted the ultra for the bigger battery, screen is .2 bigger which isn't a big deal, and the physical size increase is actually a downside. I'm thinking I'll keep the plus xuz I'm very happy with it, but I'll confirm that once the ultra arrives.
Thanks for all the feedback. I ended up ordering both the plus and the ultra. Currently using the plus and I like it quite a bit. Whatever one I decide to get rid of will be sold or returned.
Realistically, the ultra is about $910 usd and the plus is $760 usd which seems like excellent pricing for the specs.

I'm using a SPC card which can be purchased online for $10 and using a useless, old broken phone as a trade in.
Basically 20% off with the SPC card and $200 off for any old phone as a trade. I had a few old worthless flip phones I traded.

Thanks for the quick reply! Fellow Canuck
I believe the sensible choice is the S20+. Really, besides sensible I think it's the best choice out of all three phones. I had one for a couple of weeks but decided to get the Ultra. The Ultra is so absurd and chonky, I love that. LOL! But not everyone needs a mad device like the Ultra. I think you'll be very happy with the 20+.
wait 1-2 Month the price graph down down sems germany s20 ultra after release in 2 months -400€
Im coming from a z fold 3/ S22 ultra, wasnt planning on getting the 4 since the upgrades seemed very minor but i had some play time with it at Samsung and was surprised how much i liked it. Cameras are much improved especially the zoom (which was my big complaint on the 3 coming from the S21 ultra and 22 ultra).
Felt the decrease in weight and could actually notice the 3mm increase on the front screen. Figured im running out of storage on the 512gb fold 3 anyway so got the 1tb version.
Against my better judgement, I bit even though the differences were minor and since the deals last year were better through Samsung. Hope I don't regret it.
I was really considering the Vivo Xfold instead but I could not pull the trigger on that one because of lack of Volte support here in the US on my carriers.
Waiting for the Fold 4 512GB, GW5 Pro, and Buds 2 Pro to get here. Hopefully they come a few days early which is the typical. All showing an estimated delivery date of August 26th as of now with "Preorder" status and cancel button still available.
Forget this. The xiaomi mi mix fold "2" is the one! How slim is this phone!? Damn.
In comparison the fold 4 looks prehistoric. I want to like Samsung again, but they're boring lately
Jumped on the preorder too. Love the 3, but that camera is great! Who else thinks they spend too much on phones?
Yup, will be my first fold.

Yeap. Samsung's been a dull knife for almost 3 years straight now. A lot of dropped balls.
No SD card expandable storage makes this device a no sale right off the get go.
If you have a 1tb one reloads will very time consuming if have a large database. Worse there's nothing to prevent data loss on the device if the OS crashes or if the phone gets mangled.
Samsung knew better... screw em.

Sure, let me know when it comes with a warranty or support in the US and maybe I'll look. Also, what kind of water resistance does it have? Looks great but I need to know I won't have an issue especially since the Fold is what I use for work and the Pixel 6 Pro handles personal things.

IPx8, so there's that.
However it's battery is only a 100mAh larger than my N10+'s which easily get 11+hrs SOT. I highly doubt any of the Folds can survive 2+ years of heavy usage without major repairs (excluding normal battery replacement). Their track record in this regard sucks.

The Fold 4 does have IPx8, but my comments were in regards to the Xiaomi offering. I'm a little too aware of what the Fold has going for it. I've seen a vocal minority complaining about Folds on Reddit but I've also seen plenty of people with Fold 2's that are in use daily without any trouble. My Fold 3 is in perfect shape 1 year on.

It's a leading edge technology that literally stretching the materials to their design limits.
In a prefect world this might work... the Fold's fail in a predictable pattern. When Samsung's QC is good its less. Samsung's QC isn't what is was 3 years ago though. Plenty of failures across the board, not just with the Folds. This may work in your favor. Samsung is desperate to make this design succeed.
All my old phones as old as 12 yo that are still fully functional in spite of a hard lives. The Folds are incapable of that without major repairs. This N10+ in my hands is almost 3 years old, it looks, feels and runs like new. It's always case protected; something that's hard to do with a foldable. It's projected service life is 2+ years more. So far I've seen nothing new that can effectively replace it. Google Android is also very much a large part of the problem since Android 11 it's been a scoped storage paranoid mess.
Xiaomi hasn't invested the time and money Samsung has although they may have learned from that. If Xiaomi isn't bragging about its IP rating it's for a reason...

I want to like this, but the only real thing I'll notice are better cameras, rebadged fold 3. We just lapp it up every year. Lazy ahhhse Samsung, in the sense it's not different enough from its predecessor.
IWe all have different needs. If you've never gone fold before also, it'll be nice, after you've been resuscitated from the shock of that price

I totally agree. Samsung is so boring!
I personally would NEVER BUY SAMSUNG!
Samsung deliberately removed the real fastboot and replaced it with a fake empty one that doesn't even do anything. Samsung did this on purpose to annoy their users...

Then Samsung force constant selinux enforcing down your throat and the only way to set it to permissive is by actually hacking into your kernel. Sounds like fun right?
Every year Samsung force you to use AMOLED display which is suboptimal. Why not give your customers alternative display technology options such as IPS panel for instance?
And if you are unlucky enough to get stuck in a very annoying and mysterious bootloop then as a new user you will have a hard time to get back out of it on a Samsung device. It's much easier to get out of bootloops on other manufacturer's devices (those with a real working fastboot).
That's why I prefer Xiaomi devices nowadays. Cheap price, good hardware, easy to unlock (1 week waiting time which is kind of annoying but still somewhat acceptable), easy to root and debloat and customize
And with Xiaomi devices you can actually choose between OLED and IPS panels...
And the best part is : setenforce 0 actually works on Xiaomi devices! I know most Samsung folks can only dream of doing that (even as root!). No need to be jealous, just buy Xiaomi device next time! You won't regret it!
I know I always regret those damn Samsung devices...
Don't get me wrong the Samsung hardware is great (well minus the display) and their stock Android OS is rock solid if you ask me.
The only problem is Samsung has this policy of needlessly annoying their power users by adding all these useless protection features that nobody really needs. Why can't they be more like Xiaomi?
Conclusion: Xiaomi devices are much more developer friendly than Samsung devices.
There may be other good phone manufacturers out there but so far I've only tried Sony, HTC, Samsung and Xiaomi (in chronological order). Xiaomi is the clear winner for me by far. None of the others can even get close.
Just my 3 cents
i'm not a developer or interested in rooting (anymore). trading in my Fold3 and S22 Ultra, for an unlocked 1TB Fold 4 and Watch5 Pro. The Fold3 was my personal device and the S22 Ultra is a (free to me) work phone. Employer is switching to iPhones and allowing Android users to keep their (work) Android devices or use a personal device for work (as long as it passes security checks). this is the perfect scenario for me, making my decision an easy one: Fold 4 with dual sim capabilities for $216.
LOL, microSD card and headphone jack are EXTINCT. Yes they are NEVER coming back so we really need to stop beating that dead horse already!
The offshore devices are nice but what good are they if you cannot use the USA bands? Dealbreaker right there...
Some things I wish we had:
IR Blaster. Don't think it's ever coming back. It may be more of a regulatory thing than anything else.
S-pen included with internal storage like Note proper, right?
Periscope camera if not too bulky.
I thought the Fold 4 was getting UFS 4.0 storage?
Some sources indicate the Flip 4, like its predecessor, won't be getting WiFi 6E capability! That's madness if true. We recently updated our WiFi here to support this connectivity and the speed is superb. It was "maddening" to find my Flip 3 was getting under 1Gbps because there was no WiFi 6E. Yet the Fold 3 has it?!
I like the Flip 3 but I like the Fold 3 even better. $900 for the Flip3 is great trade in so of course I sprung for it. What I'm not thrilled about is the cost to jump to 1TB. If it had 16GB RAM like the S21 512GB then maybe. I dunno. I don't really need that much space on them as the video capture doesn't really need space (like the iPhone 13 Pro Max) so there's that.
At least we have esim now out of the box. Finally!
I may run caseless for a while too. The s-pen with case was "free" with the deal but ugh, so much bulk. I hate, HATE bulk. I buy these aramid thin ass covers for my devices. I see latercase already has it for preorder. I'm going to wait and get essentially the same thing off Amazon for half the price LOL!
Don't even dare mention how much I spend on phones!
I'm on the fence with the iphone 14 pro max in a few weeks. Got to see how much better the camera is going to be. But I read it's going to cost 15% more? WTF a 1TB 14 Pro Max is going to cost more than the Fold 4 MSRP (512GB). That's nuts. Lightning still Apple? USB 2.0 speed in 2022! Madness! At least it will have WiFi6E so airdrop to our NAS will be OK for time being. And I'm not a fan of the sideways exclamation point display cutout FFS! I have no problem losing FaceID for a power button FP reader. The ones on the Fold3 and Flip3 are FLAWLESS and super convenient IMHO.
Ok enough rambling on here. Clock is ticking. Need to start a preorder waiting room thread LOL!
I have a hard time staying away when Samsung has a new release, particularly a phone that appears to be as good as the Fold 4 is looking to be. I traded in my S22 Ultra and I am really happy with the Trade in Deal samsung offered....can't wait ..fingers crossed they ship early like they have usually done in the past...

Nice to see you here force I am on the fence of pre ordering not many deals in canada this time around.
I would have bought the X fold 100% if 5g worked on rogers i Canada, much prefer its form factor and camera to the fold 3 or 4.

Yeah they really treat Canada like an afterthought, some great pre order options in the US but we get the shaft lol

Forget this. The xiaomi mi mix fold "2" is the one! How slim is this phone!? Damn.
In comparison the fold 4 looks prehistoric. I want to like Samsung again, but they're boring lately

Yes, slim hehe But what about features? Wireless charging? IP rating? Inner screen front camera? Software (Xiaomi's support is poor)?
Do you prefer to buy a nice looking or functional device?
So we are starting to see leaks for the Fold 5, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders show off svelte design and new rumored hinge and for the Pixel Fold, Google Pixel Fold: Pricing, rumors, and everything you need to know

It depends if one or both of them can be OEM unlocked.
FOLD 5 has no advantage over my FOLD 4...waiting for tri foldable FOLD 6 instead....
First generation Pixel Fold could be as buggy as a Rain Forest!
Not to mention the Pixel smaller screen sizes is a negative for me....
It depends on what Samsung give me for preorder and old device
$1000 trade-in for my ZFold3, that's why I upgraded to the 4, might do the same if similar for getting the 5. However, if the 6 is going to be a design overhaul, I might just wait.
From the leaks it's a pass for me. Only reason I'll change my Fold4 is if the Spen gets its internal housing. Otherwise I'm quite happy with it
Really depends on the trade in deals with Samsung if like last year in the UK they give £750 for the Fold 3 +£100 gift voucher so £850 for the fold 3 plus they give the note pack and the buds 2 pro free
Samsung speeds up development of tri-folding phone with new patent
Samsung is the pioneer of foldable smartphones. It is the only firm that has been consistently selling foldable smartphones globally ...
www.sammobile.com
This is what I am waiting for !!!!!!!
I got the Fold 4 because of the lack of other options, however this seems be changing now. I dislike the narrow candybar form factor of the Fold lineup. It is too hard to use as a normal phone and honestly, unfolded it's too large to be used as a phone. I have the Vivo V fold and the size of the outside screen is soooo much better, only problem is it's a China only release, same with the Oppo Find N,.
The S pen is a great little gadget however there ae alternatives for all other phones.
Now others are hitting the market it might be time to change brands....
I hope Samsung are watching this closely as it WILL impact their market share.
Update: Google announces Pixel Fold ahead of I/O
I am not seeing the inner screen crease like Samsung? Maybe they photo shopped it out.

Have you noticed that there is almost a year difference between Fold 4 and Pixel Fold? Fold 5 will also have a new hinge.

Again, both the Oppo Find N and Vivo V Fold have MINIMAL creases, so much so it is barely felt at all. These are 1st release devices and are so much easier to write on. It is a year on and still the crease, or lack thereof, surprises me every time I use it.
Samsung should be ashamed of the Grand Canyon crease they seem to keep giving us.

But those devices doesn't have water resistance. Samsung made the decision to add a IPX8 rating whereas the competition decided against it.
Whether a device is water resistant or not, isn't a deal breaker for me. I've never dropped a device in water, not saying it couldn't happen. If a device is kind of splash-proof, can live with that in case of rain. Is the Google foldable water resistant?

sticking to my fold 4 but just adding in my 2 cents.
still considered a rumour until the official specs come out but this website seems to indicate water resistance. if you'll scroll down you'll come across:
According to Blass’s leak, the Pixel Fold will be 5.5 inches tall, 3.1 inches wide, and 0.5 inches thick when folded. When unfolded, it will be 5.5 by 6.2 by 0.2 inches. The total weight will be 283 grams. The Pixel Fold will have IPX8 water resistance, USB-C 3.2 gen 2, and more.
website: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/google-pixel-fold-price-release-date-specs-news-rumors/
which now opens another can of worms regarding the weight. fold 4's weight is 263g and supposedly the fold 5 will be even lighter.
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-fold-launch/
Guess I'll have to see it in person somewhere next month and make up my mind.
IMHO, Samsung seems hesitant to step up their game in the foldable arena.
Pixel FOLD is no competition for SAMSUNG Z FOLD series...the SPen alone gives SAMSUNG the win every time for me....just wait til the Z FOLD 6 tri foldable...that will be what I upgrade from the Z FOLD 4 to next..Z FOLD 5 has no advantage over the Fold 4...

How do you know if 5 hasn't released yet?
My 2 cents on Samsung's foldables. I would say I've been intrigued looking at the foldables by Xiaomi, Huewei, Otto, Google and Vivo.....they look nice, even the crease looks less visible than Samsung's, but they miss on some things, I forget which one, but doesn't have 5G, another can't do MMS, may or may not be water resistant, camera not as good, etc. Although Samsung could get better and will, no need to jump ship as yet. I was looking hard into the Vivo X Fold2 and thought about getting it, but takes some tweaks and other things to try and get it to work well. I will probably keep my ZFold4 until the 6.
Hi everyone.
I am still user Fold 2 from 2 years, before was N9>N20U. Previous year I bought S22U which from 7 months now my girlfriend have and I back to my Fold 2.
I was happy with him but want try again back to Note sereis with S23U.
This is great device, excellent battery life, cameras but from 7 days back to F2 for fun (still good power with S865+ and not bad battery life for me) and back again to S23U is hard. Foldable screen is great feature which I use with pleasure.
S pen use from time to time. I know about s pen and case for it to F4 but I don't have experience with convenience this solution - especially carry in jeans pocket this brick.
Now I don't know what will can do... Wait to 2024 after Fold 5 for good come on the market?
It's hard to me sell only 2 months old S23U.
Or maybe don't tired with s23u and replace it for F4?
F2 cover screen is narrow but F4 have little wider and easy use with one hand.
Maybe is here user above both devices and can advice me?
Wait, just in case.
Depends on your local price? I got the Fold4 three weeks ago. Not because I think it is the better device, but because I got it at 50% the price and I highly doubt the new stuff in Fold5 will make it worth double.

In guarantee shops still almost 3/4 start price for new and 2/3 for outlet so still high in my country like Poland.
My fold 2 2 years ago bought for 55% start price for new.
So thanks for advice. Maybe when I found discount similar to situation with F2, then worth buy it but if not, so easy wait for coming to market F5
Yeah. And perhaps even check out the pixel fold being presented on wednesday? The wider front screen seems nice

Yes, good proposal. Unfortunately Pixel fold mybe is intersting but it's not for me because this is first fold from pixel and like usually will be a lot of bugs in for example construction or software.
I need device for work so need rely in my device in every situation.
Moreover I very like samsung Ui, which is for me very intuitive. I had Pixel 4XL and after almost 2 years I don't get used clean android. My last clean was Nexus 4 (but I liked this) and next only Galaxy Note series for today.
In pixel fold front screen looks nice but interal have very thick frames and not look good.
And what most important in Poland pixel series isn't official accessible so are issues with purchase and respect guarantee.
We had issues with Nexus/Pixels not being here in Denmark officially too, for a very long time.
I have used iPhone since 2008, but have had Samsung mobiles at the same time too, ever since Note 1 was released. Didnt enjoy the tiny 3.5” of the iPhones and that is about the same reason I have a Fold now. Apple is just doing everything they can to save money, by selling antiquated hardware…
At some point Samsung decided that Denmark didnt need the Note series anymore, so I more or less stopped buying from them.
My number one issue with Fold4 is the narrow front screen, and that it for that reason unfolds to a square, instead of landscape. But very nice device, besides from that. And yes, I actually think they made the right choice with the cam underneeth the inner screen. Neither screen nor cam is perfect, but a good compromise.
Think you could be right, that first gen folding from Google could have issues. Good point.
I'll be honest. I had the zfold 4 and then tried out the S23U for a couple months. Only two things I loved were the camera setup and the screen size (quite different than the ZF4 outer screen), but overall, I went back to the ZF4 as it provides a better work tool I got quite used to the form factor and the inside display is a treat to use once you learn all the tricks
Thanks for replies. I like S23U, this is great device but overall is booring.
Fold series give me more fun and look difference compare to other devices.
Now I looking for good pricing F4 and still wait for F5.
I need for daily use 2 simcard and sometimes swap my private simcard to old F2 which still have.
I consider buy F3 because is for good price in my country but shapes, especially front screen are very similar to my F2. Only difference is S Pen support and this is too little
I have a F4. Im with Fold since F2. Meanwhile I have tried a couple of ..Pro and ...Ultra devices but like you said all they become boring to me for a couple of days in use. And more important - super uncomfortable because I carry my phone always in the pants pocket. For me the comfort of use is more important than all. Fold is a Transformer. Stage 1 - one hand super friendly. Stage 2 - mutimedia and multitasking beast like no other. I think I cant go back to a bar phone. I have tried with the bests on the market but no chance.
I have both the ZF4 and S23U. The S23U is totally boring next to the ZF4 other than the cameras (which is the only reason I have/keep the S23U). Also, the S23U is super wide and not comfortable to hold (if you have "normal" hands). Even though the S23U has the SD 8 Gen 2, you don't really notice the difference in day to day use. So, ZF4 remains my daily driver, I'm not planning to get the ZF5. If you can swing it, you'll probably be able to trade the S23U for a ZF5 at a great value. Otherwise, get a deeply discounted ZF4 and sell your S23U.
