Question Battery life and wireless charging of Fold z4 - Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

Hello!
Can you advise on the real battery life of Z4 especially when using the full screen? Does it last a day with bluetooth earbuds, wifi, browsing etc?
Also, any insight on charging it always wirelessly? Will the battery lose its performance soon? Can it be replaced as part of warranty?
Thanks!

Dude it will clearly depend of you use.
It can be empty after a 9 to 8 shift when I have a busy day and a lot of phone calls. I can also have 50% remaining when not using much.
In fact, don't expect it to last more than 5 hours of screen on time with the unfolded screen.

You can lower your brightness if it is not already at the lowest setting.
Unfortunately, the galaxy nexus has poor battery life. You could also try turning off data when you don't need it.

the screen is at lowest and it doesnt make sense turning of data if the problem is from screen right?
I'm having the exact same issue. Screen is totally eating up my battery life. It took 30 minutes for the battery to go down by like 10%. And the screen is 40% of the battery life issue.

Maybe I just don't use the screen as much as you, but I don't find this to be true for me. I find it has great battery life. I don't sit for hours with the screen on, but I do regularly text and check emails throughout the day, do a bit of web browsing, take some calls, and play some Angry Birds or other games in the evening. The screen is always at the top of the list for battery usage, but even on an extreme day I still have more than 30% battery left by the time I go to bed. I throw it on the charger and I'm ready to go again in the morning.
I disagree that the Galaxy Nexus has poor battery life, in general. I would argue that: all high-end phones have "poor" battery life because of all the things they do (especially 720p screens), your personal use of it consumes a lot of power and you could benefit from an extended battery, or you have a faulty device.
hi there, i do that exact same things with no games, so less usage but i get less than a day... i love the phone but the batery is just no working...
I don't understand why people don't get that when you have a screen that is 4.65'' it will destroy the battery life. My screen use is always at 60% or more but yet I still get good battery life. The screen is going to use the majority of your battery when compared to other things, that's just how it is.
sorry but thats not the point, when you pay 700 for a top phone, that is suposed to be the google experience to carry arround wiith you and you can only get 10 hours of battery time something went wrong in the process...
Most phones are $600 to $700, and name one 4g phone that will last more than 10 hours with moderate use and no extended battery, just not going to happen. You need to reset your expectations.
GN battery is giving lots of trouble, too. I picked up the phone from charge and it was 100% charged. ! hour of usage with 3g on. Usage includes 1 hours or music and reading of pdf books simultaniously and battery is dropped to 61%.

I think you should take a look at every other android phone that has come out with the same specs in the last year. Everything from the EVO 3d to the thunderbolt have their default battery's not last more than around 6-8 hours with constant use because of the screen & processors.
THis is why Verizon offered the extended batteries at a discounted rate right off the bat, because default batteries have never ever lasted that long in topof the line smartphones. FFS the new iphone 4s I've heard from a friend that their phones don't even last 24 hours.
I have a galaxy nexus, and mine has lasted... let me see.. one sec...1 day 3 hours and 25sec's with 35% left. (of course I have the extended battery) but here's the kicker: the extended battery has basically the same back as the regular phone does. so if they so desired, verizon could technically put out another extended battery just like all the rest of the phones, but they might not do that. I'm content with the battery life as it is almost identical as the droid X from which I came. The only difference is since I have a lot of un-updated apps for ice cream sandwich one of them is using "mediaserver" A LOT. I'm talking about that being the top of my battery draining with the screen being second. They both have taken ~20% with android OS itself taking 13, PlayerPro taking 13, and other random things like calls and txt msging taking ~10% each.
So I would suggest not trying to watch a lot of stuff on your phone while on battery, or don't expect your battery to survive long while watching stuff on that great screen
hymn thanks for the feedback so the only solution I see would be to go for a bigger battery. I'm from Portugal were could I buy one and whays the power?

If your screen usage is less than 50%, it be more worried about what else is killing your battery........

How long you guys charge Tab S until fully charged? is it normal if my tab S fully charged only 1hour and half.. It suprises me cause Ive never have tab that can charged this fast. Im afraid my Tab have battery problem.

My 8.4 takes about 2.5 to 3 hours on average using the stock travel charger. The 10.5 longer because of the larger battery.

i noticed this on my tab 8.4LTE too, the battery simply drains away, almost close to rendering the tablet useless as I use this as my primary phone. tried playing online games and 30 mins later, it ate 40% of the battery (no unusual warm ups) i had this tab for almost a week now and it's still the same. i'm getting worried that i have battery issues

same as me. I also use the LTE ver. It drains really quick which makes me feel like buying a cheap tablet. It only can stand for 2hours plus for heavy user. The screen is really beautiful but have to lower the brightness to save battery. such a waste.

I dont think its because of root, cause I didn't root my tab yet. does ur friend have lte version also? I also trying to use my tab only with wifi on and sim on (data off) still the same result.

I was getting worried as well. Every time I've used it for anything other than movies my battery percentage has dropped like an aerodynamic rock. Browsing, games, magazines, etc. Movies (assuming because of the typically large amount of black pixels) look fantastic and the battery does quite with them, but for everyday consumption it left me concerned.
An hour ago I asked Amazon for an exchange which they did no questions asked. Perhaps round 2 will fare better. If not, I'll shed a tear as I give up this amazing display for another device altogether.

Yes. Lte version as well. I noticed that when he do wifi file transfers and other stuffs. Batt will drain as well.
I want a heads on comparison with his tab but it's hard since we use the tab differently. This is my primary phone while his is for browsing only. Tomorrow. I'll try to transfer s huge file via wifi and see if we'll have the similar percentage of battery drain. I already did the calibration as advised from another thread and it seems to work. A few more charge cycle might do the trick.

Same for me.... It takes forever to fully charge it (10,5 in)
I use a 10.5 LTE and it takes about 5 hours to fully charge. I recommend to switch it off while charging because when it's on you loose about 500mAh (also if the screen is off) and with a 2Ah charger if the battery sees (optimistically) 1.5Ah it takes 5h 20' plus the time required by the slow charge when it reaches 85-90%, so more than 6h.
Anyway I charge it every time I can when it goes under 50%, it's a big battery and needs a special care. Nothing to say about batterylife, excellent.
Most tablets/phones fast charge to 80% and then slow down for the last 20% , so if you don't need a full charge just grab it after it goes past 80% , your battery will live longer as well, as the closer you charge to 100% the more damage is done to your battery, it`s very small but it adds up.
Have a read of the link below, if you want to make the battery in your tablet live longer, if you have the money to easily replace it then don't worry, charge away

[Q] Dead end with Samsung can I have your feedback please

TLR Anyone willing to see if their tab pro drains battery when fully powered off. Like overnight when you're sleeping or at work. Thanks
Hi,
I got a 10.1 tabpro back at the end of Jan. I thought it would be a massive step up from my Nook HD+ (rooted) but it's not. Not only is it slower than expected the battery life is atrocious. Samsung advertises over 2500 standby hours for their 10.1 tablet, I get 200. Also I get about 6 hour video, mp4 files, not 10 and I don't like a bright screen, I know companies exaggerate but this is daft. But it's the standby that's a problem, having to charge it every few days in case I want to use it is a big step down from my Nook.
It's been into Samsung repair 4 times now and I'm currently at a dead end.
Problem
It loses 0.5% an hour on standby even with wifi, gps, updates off etc
It loses 0.5% an hour fully powered off. Fully powered down. OFF, not on standby. Just to be clear
Compare this to my nook with a smaller battery capacity which loses less than 1% a day. I've tried turning off other android devices (mobiles & tablets) and none lose battery over 12 or 24 hours when powered off.
Current situation
It's been in 4 times, it has been returned with a squeaky corner which they've failed to repair and the retail box is torn and tatty like they played football with it.
I've now been told
I have spoken to our product specialist regarding this and the decline in battery life over the 24 hour period is not considered to be unusual. In the 12 hour period where the tablet was powered on, even though the screen is off and apps closed down the tablet will still be transmitting, searching for system updates or connecting to networks or wireless. The 12% decline in battery is considered normal for this kind of activity.

This doesn't address that wifi, gps, updates etc is turned off and drain whilst it's powered off. I responded 2 weeks ago but there has been no reply.
Feedback please
1. I've been all over the internet. I've tried greenify, I've tried battery calibration, there's a ridiculous amount of bloatware that I can't delete but I've reduced apps running as much as I can. Does anyone have any other ideas?
2. What's your tablet like, does it lose battery life when powered off? I've seen people posting on here about their 8.4 inch tabpro and they've put screen shots showing better standby battery life than my 10.1 with a much better battery capacity.
I've attached some screen shots, less than 3 days and it lost 33% doing nothing on standby.
I would really appreciate if anyone could feedback on battery life when switched off, is someone able to test theirs for me?
Many thanks,
Anna
Is someone willing to see if their tab pro loses battery even when powered off?
Thanks
Uh-oh. I hope this is unusual and anomalous. I'm actively seeking a replacement for my HD+. I want to love it. I *SO* want to love it but it infuriates me that the browser crashes so often. Yours? Which ROM?
Nook is fine, It's the Samsung that's utter pants. Nook battery loses less than 1% a day on standby and screen is good. Surprisingly I thought the octo core samsung wouldn't be laggy but it is, it's not that much better than the Nook.
I have cyanogenmod 11 I think. Yes the browser crashes but that's partly because many sites are badly designed and web 2.0 is badly implemented and I use Dolphin because I like the format however it's a terrible browser for crashing. The new Guardian site I struggle with on tablets and mobiles no matter what browser for example.
Anyone willing to test their tabpro for me????
I'm actually on my 3rd day with my 8.4 it's 10:35 pm and I still have 35% left

I don't understand. 3rd day of what, off, on standby, has it been used?
Mine loses battery at 0..5% an hour on standby and fully powered off. I'm trying to establish if other tab pro's have the same level of drain on standby and powered off. Can you give me more info please? Thanks

Take the rear cover off, disconnect the battery from its connector. Bring it to a repair shop where they can do a solder work. Ask them to re solder the battery connector, this rework only takes under 5 minutes. It will fix the problem of battery quick discharge. If the problem is still the same, you only need to replace the battery, cost only around $30 for new battery.

Thanks but it was only a few months old so well within warranty.
They replaced it with an tab s 10.5 (no more tabpro's available). Tab s gives me the battery life I expect and speed. Big difference between the two is the tabpro used up a lot of battery with 'tablet idle', well over 50% whereas on the tab s it's a few %. I think the tabpro didn't quite deliver, it was discounted quickly, the software wasn't right plus squeaky case, but so far imo they seem to have got it right with the tab s. Despite the lower capacity battery and bigger screen it lasted me over 5 days and that included setting up and installing apps. The tabpro by that point would have been long dead.
I'm glad you get a new replacement but this's a common problem of Samsung tablets . Be aware of this problem is the future of battery quick discharge. Most users just simply think this is a problem of battery.

Battery question

Guys,
can someone (2, or 3 people) post their battery estimated time left when the phone is 100% charged. I think i have a faulty one but i dont remember what was the estimated time left for a phone with good battery. I know its estimated but i have mine showing 15 hours left when 100 charged, so i think its dying again...
Someone? PLease?
three days and 20 hours, still on original battery.
My device Z1c rooted and Existenz custom ROM using...in my device it showing 1 day and 30 mins. So my battery is faulty...?

Your battery is dying. Time to get a new one. There is a thread for that issue here.
Battery currently 50% and says I have approx 1day and 1hour left.(stock Android 5.1)
My GSAM Battery Monitor says I get average 1day 19hr per charge with average over 2months.
I'm on stock 5.1 with root access and have my phone tool'd up with frequency/governor management and stuff like powersave governor for screen off and etc.
Battery use is very subjective on a wide range of settings, location, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, telephony signal strength, LTE and general usage patterns, so one person's setting/use will not reflect another.
That said, one should get 24hrs easy even with over 4hrs SOT.

The Z1C battery stat's reflect the current real-time usage and project the available time left based on what is currently happening.
If your phone is configured optimally and you don't use your phone over night, it should only use approx 5% of battery.
If you use GSAM Battery Monitor you can check if any apps are keeping your phone awake, number of time your phone is woken and high CPU users.
You can check for telephony signal strength.
My phone is 100% signal strength (very good)
How much power is used to keep your screen displayed, with dimmer better.
Also you can see if your phone is in deep sleep when phone is not in use.
Over a 12hour period my phone is in deep sleep for 9hrs.
Use another phone for a couple of days and leave the Z1C with screen off for those few days.
If not used you should see over 3 days of battery life.
There is no answer to your question.
At the end of the day it's up to you to optimise your phone as best you can and base your decisions on previous battery use/experience with your known workloads.
If you're not gaming for a day or two and you have your phone as optimised as you can, then, 15hrs is crap and your battery is on the way out.

Sony Xperia Z1C Battery
Attached is a snapshot of the battery use in my Z1C running Android 5.1 stock with root access.
As noted, when the phone is not in use the battery almost flat-lines with very little use.
When battery use is almost a perfect triangle on the two axis and from 100 to 0%, then it's a good indicator the battery is failing/failed.
Replacing a battery on a Xperia Z1C ...well it sucks...to say the least :crying:
You need to add additional adhesive on the top left near the camera location as that's the area that tends to come unstuck after the back cover is replaced.
Also good batteries for an Xperia Z1C may be hard to find now.
The original batteries are marked with the manufacture date as yy-ww (Year and week[0-52])
If you find an original battery AND it DOESN'T have the NFC conductor glued on it, then you have a good chance of getting a good battery.
If the NFC conductor is glued onto the battery, then there is every chance the battery is just an old one pulled out of a previous Xperia Z1C.
Good luck.

My little z1c is a frankenstein. I already changed the battery one time, the back cover 4, times. I repaired the mic, and changed the screen two times.

A tube of glue and an Xperia Z1C are almost synonymous with each other these days.
I had to glue the bottom speaker cover and the magnetic charger back on again... plus the back cover several times.
Currently I have used 25% of the battery and 2hrs SOT as seen in the attached.
I get a reported ~7hrs of on screen time per 100% charge cycle.
Email, WhatsApp, web browsing using RSS in Opera Mini, Tapatalk, Shopping apps, system/file management, Youtube and etc... (No gaming nor social Facebook, Twitter, Tinder...and etc)
Deleted all Bloatware out of /system/app and system/priv-app.
Update - ..ummm.. is Clash of Clans and Battle Command gaming...me thinks not.. but maybe it is.. ..any way throw a 15min mix of that into the pot too.
If you're not using much CPU you'll get more SOT, which is why gaming is a bad indicator as it's hard on CPU and screen, unless you have a game that does not get updated anymore(known stable unchanged test environment) and you benchmarked it a few years ago.
Then you can use the same game as a good indicator for any current status changes.

What do you think, does the battery for this device last for two days, as they say?
What do you think about pixel 5a?

What do you think, does the battery for this device last for two days, as they say?
What do you think about pixel 5a?

The battery is pretty good. I get about 7h Sceen on Time on 120hz but no 5G
If you don’t use 120hz, You will probably get 8-9h
This is for normal use like Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok and very light gaming.
If you use your phone pretty normally, The battery is fine. But if you do some hard gaming, Charging Once per day is required.
Overall, No matter what this phone can get through one ful day of battery life. (Mostly)
My thoughts on the Pixel 5a is to wait for the Pixel 6a.
If you can plug it to charge every 2 days why can't you every day?
It goes through a day with no problem..
If you love incredible battery life, get a 6000mah device and optimize it. You can easily do 3 days+ with a super lean setup under moderate usage and 2 days under more active use (of course all depending on how you define active usage, if you plan on doing long video calls, games and have a bunch of background sync services and 5G on all the time, it pushes it)
Its battery life is good enough that I've set it to stop charging at 85% and only start charging again at 80%, as a means to preserve battery health/capacity for longer. It's still pretty great.
Is this a good result so far?
