Hi there, would like to ask if i should just unlock bootloader and root via recovery now, or wait for a temproot that works for the international model and than S-OFF as weaksauce doesnt work for the international model at the moment. Is there any news on when the international model will be getting an update in weaksauce?
Yes you have to be bootloader unlocked and rooted so may as well get that done and some people on international havesS-OFF
But not me
Hi everybody, I have a HTC One M9 with bootloader unlocked and TWRP is installed on it but with S-ON. It's running on lollipop 5.1.
i could not gain S-OFF because i have to pay for it through sunshine application. But the problem is i am living in SENEGAL so there is no paypal. All the rom i have flashed fail to boot. I would like to get back to stock rom, unroot and relock the bootloader so that i can get the OTA update of marshmallow. but I could not find any stock marshmallow online for my phone. i would be very happy if someone can help me with a stock firmware. Here are the informations about my phone:
HTC ONE M9
CID: HTC_621 TWM TW
BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED
S-ON
CURRENTLY RUNNING ON ANDROID 5.1
Set up fastboot and do the command : fastboot getvar all, and report back

Hi mtraore21,
It looks like you've got your CID. Have you looked at Flippy498's Back-to-Stock spreadsheet? It looks like there are some RUU files that might help you.
An important caveat: you'll want to be sure you were flashing a RUU that was a lower version than the firmware you currently have - my understanding is that you'll damage your phone, or at least soft-brick it if you do that.

Have you tried the HTC website? I had a very similiar situation with my phone and downloaded the current ROM from there - an RUU file that all I had to do was double-click to run and it did everything else. My M9 was returned to "factory new" when it finished. I worried myself half to death but it was SOOO simple! Just find your particular "variant" from the website and select "download".

Can I install usa official htc 10 unlocked rom on my unlocked htc 10 bought from uae?
Hmm, If you're rooted then yes
- Root either by sunshine or by unlocking the bootloader and flashing TWRP recovery then root..
- Change the CID & MID to match those for US Unlocked
- Flash the latest Android 6 RUU for US Unlocked
- Run the OTA to upgrade to 7 Nougat.
Note that if you used Sunshine then it's better to S-Off the phone also.. doing so will allow you to downgrade in case you didn't like the newer rom.
I'm S-Off and rooted, did not unlock the BL...
Changed the CID & MID, flashed the US Unlocked Android 6, updated using OTA to Nougat the I did a factory reset to keep Nougat as clean as possible & finally rooted with Magisk (SuperSU didn't do it, the phone keeps rebooting in a loop, restoring TWRP backup did not help either)

Good advice but a there are a few things that are not accurate:
1- Root only will not let you change CID or MID, you need S-Off for that.
2- To achieve S-Off the most simple method is Sunshine (paid app, $25).
3- S-Off doesn't require to be rooted previously if you're in an old version of Android, the app applies a temporary root to achieve S-Off, once S-Off'd the root is removed.
4- The only case where you will require permanent root is on latest version of Android, check the Sunshine web site to see which is the latest version temp root works on, is very probable Sunshine's temp root will work on a Marshmallow phone.
5- There is already a Nougat RUU for US unlocked, no need to run an old RUU and OTA if you can go to the latest version from the start.
Could someone tell me where I could find an EE Uk CID (eve_001) 2.41.91.31 RUU for the Htc 10 .I want to unroot the phone but I deleted my twrp backup by accident and have searched everywhere for a compatible RUU.
The phones bootloader is unlocked and it has S-ON
Got it fixed by using HTC__001 twrp Nandroid_2.41.401.41_PMEUHL.zip if anyone is in the same boat
