Hello all. I had the WI-FI toggle issue where the Wi-fi simply would not turn on. All measures were taken and finally a local Samsung authorized repair agent had to replace the motherboard which did fix that issue. But I have the model listed in the thread title but the repair shop flashed the 990U firmware on the phone upon return home. I should have realized a red flag when the repairman asked me which carrier I had because they were having an issue with the firmware taking hold. When I got it home it had firmware from November 2021 and it would not update any further.
Well I took it back and then they actually got the 990U1 part right but this time it had the wrong CSC version on it (Tracfone) XAG when I mentioned that mine was carrier unlocked upon purchase so I would want XAA. The agent said Samsung only provided them with the one they put on it???
Now there are differences between the CSC versions. When the software is released being one I have read. My current carrier is LycaMobile so would not a firmware version of XAA be ideal as that is what was provided when I originally purchased the phone and what I had requested or possibly Tmobile as that is whose towers my current carrier will use. Doesn't it also matter as possible future ESIM support and band support could be different depending on the firmware correct??

To change csc samfw is a free tool which allow you to change it for free
I recommend to remove sim card first .

I also have the S21 FE G990U2 (MetroPCS variant). Did the OEM unlock option appear in developer options after you flashed it? I would want to un-brand my FE after I unlock it to (CSC XAA?). I would be using Mint as my carrier (T-Mobile).
No there is no oem unlock option in the developer options. It dose not support esim too . Both physical Sims are working .

So i have recently bought a phone through a "Rent to Buy" business and have owned the phone for almost 4 months. I can't seem to get the "OEM unlock" to even show up in developer options and done the trick with the date but shouldn't be the issue since i owned it for so long. I can only think there must be something installed before purchasing as customer that would stop this feature. I do know there is something with Knox if the bill wasn't payed it can be remotely shutdown from the business of purchase until unlocked with provided Pin. I just wanna change over to Germany firmware as i have with my previous phone's in the past. So any information would be much appreciated !

I think you just need to flash a compatible firmware of your preference through odin
Yeah oem unlock is only needed for flashing custom software such as a custom recovery. You should be fine with flashing the DBT firmware on your phone through odin, just make sure to select "CSC" and not "HOME_CSC".
Hello everyone.
I just bought what I thought it was an unlocked S20 Ultra over the internet and, nevertheless my sim card form my country works well (Im from México) the OTA updates dont work.
The last security update it has is from March 2020 and I have checked the system update option but it says that my phone is up to date.
I have seen that maybe that the most recent update can be forced using Odin but I dont know what firmware to download for my model so it can be updated regularly via OTA as I only have found firmware options for another USA Carriers that I dont have, and Im scared to brick it for choosing the wrong one.
Curiously enough, the phone model and IMEI correspond to the AT&T USA variation, however, the start up screen doesnt show up any AT&T logo and the phone doesnt have any bloatware from any carrier. So Im not sure if the phone was already flashed with some fw?
The model that it displays is SM-G988U and the S/W is G988USQU1ATBN'
Hope you can help me to have updates on my phone.
Thanks!

Your device is a US Branded Variant, most likely Verizon/ATT. Go to Settings, About Phone, Software Information, Service Provider Software Version. On the bottom row the last three letters will verify which carrier is branded. If it is in fact AT&T you can download the appropriate fw here. Be sure to select the appropriate carrier in the drop down menu but be aware AT&T typically doesn't offer it's firmware to be accessed online.

You MAY need to be on AT&T's US Network to receive OTA Updates but you should have no problem making and receiving calls and texts in Mexico.

Thank you. I just checked and the last three letters are indeed ATT. That means that most likely I cant have fw updates or OTA updates as they dont offer their fw online? Searched on the website yu gave me but there is no ATT carrier option

You're most welcome. Verizon is in the drop down menu and since they've merged with AT&T it should be the appropriate FW but it doesn't load after selecting it which reflects AT&T's ongoing efforts to block updates outside of it's proprietary platform. If you're unable to access AT&T's network inside the US the other options are downloading the FW on Samsung's Smartswitch app or acquiring it on ATT/Verizon website. Good luck!
Hi guys just got a new phone supposed to be uk unlocked sim free brand new.but its weird
The service provider sw ver dont look english to me
SPR/XAA/VZW
I have my ee sim card inserted and it works to make calls. But there is a weird notification saying OMADM activation not completed
Also says LTE on the screen something I've never heard of or seen here in england we use 4g volte.so I'm confused also the software for uk phones are BTU/BTU/BTU OR XEU/XEU/XEU
And last the box is weird as it says unlocked by Samsung and has a warming saying reproductive harm I was thinking wtf is this phone.
Also it says Qualcomm on the top on a sticker,we use xenox version england
Ps I brought it from Amazon uk
none of it of sounds like a uk version. more like a us one.

Samsung CSC Codes List (All) | Change CSC on Samsung Devices
Today, we'll explain Samsung CSC codes. Besides, we also have a list of CSC codes or region codes with a method to change CSC on Samsung.
www.droidviews.com
Is it new?
Yes from amazon uk
So this phone cant be used here in England then other than making phone calls ?and how do I get uk firmware onto the phone?I'm a noob and not good with computers
Also changing the csc codes to uk what will that change?as we dont even have the snapdragon model in england?so would there even be uk firmware for an American phone?
Google tells me spr means sprint and that's the first code of the 3
Vzw looking on google means Verizon and that's the 3rd code so the phone was originally a Verizon locked phone.thats was unlocked and flashed with sprint fw, because the second csc code says xaa and apparently that means unlocked.
So what does this mean for me a uk user.luke I said in the uk our phones are BTU/BTU/BTU or XEU/XEU/XEU if there uk and unlocked
If you have a active sim, try inserting it.
It should come online.
My unlocked 10+ I just got did, zero issues.
If not I would return it.

How can I flash uk xenox firmware onto an American snapdragon phone?.I'm a beginner when it comes to this.as I only buy uk phones as I'm in the uk and it seems complicated flashing stuff this handset is a u version and I want to make it the f version
You cannot flash UK firmware on your US phone.
Just return it to Amazon, claim full refund as the product is not as advertised: no UK unlocked version, not new. Also screenshot in post #8 refers to firmware of a Note 9, not a Note 10 (N960 is Note 9), this makes this phone even more suspicious...
Return it. There's a lot of bs going on with sellers of this phone. This has gotten really bad. Amazon, saw some deceptive advertising there recently for this model and the N20U.
Best to contact the seller on the phone first; no phone contact, don't use. Make sure you are given full specs on their site and it's compatible with your country/provider.
Buy only a new one if possible. Used ones may be running on Android 11, you don't want that!
I was able to find a reliable US vender and got a new umlocked 10+ 256gb/12gb Snapdragon about a week ago for $800. It was as advertised except due to its manufacturing date is running on Q not Pie. It's a keeper.

Oh sorry it's a note 9 i apologise.so if I cant change it to a uk firmware is the phone useless to use in the uk other than to call people?because my sim card works to make calls
Also OMADM activation not completed message is pissing me off
What does it even mean.i think my phone has sprint firmware on it?how can I change it to normal unlocked firmware so it's nothing to do with sprint I cant stant that OMADM ITS MAKING ME MAD
And Verizon is what I think the phone was originally.
Last thing the phone was sold as brand new sealed but it's not even in the correct box the phone I have is 128gb not 512gb
And it had a sealed sticker saying euro sim only but the phone is American? I think the box is fake ?as it looks nothing like any note 9 box I've ever seen
I'm going to try and flash the phone the phone is currently csc SPR/XAA/VZW boot loader 5 I've just downloaded android 10 also on bootloader 5 ovbisly the XAA VERSION will it work or can I only download and flash SPR FIRMWARE?
as I'm trying to get rid of the MADMEN activation not completed message
Update I tried to flash it but when I pressed start in Odin nothing happened so I guess I'm stuck on spr for life unless I forrgire out how to change the first csc

It's not impossible but if you are not experienced with better get it back, it doesn't worth the try, you can end by messing up completely.
I've flashed phones many many times before normally when I update the fw via ota and then regret it and need to downgrade back .this phone I just flashed but the start button wouldn't work because I was trying to flash XAA VERSION and not the SPR VERSION .I guess if I was to follow a guide on changing the csc from SPR TO XAA then flashing will work but what the point i wanted a uk brand new factory sealed sim free handset like I paid for
So this pos phone can go back to the scammer on amazon.its a discrace they are making fake seals on the boxes.using fake accessories and lieing saying the phones are uk.the average person would fall for this lies because the phone is unlocked my uk sim will work but you get that OMADM pop up and it's a nightmare.plus I doubt half the functionality will even work.
I've purchased a Verizon unlocked Galaxy s21 FE and am trying to use it on Mint Mobile. It connects for about 5 minutes but then 5G and reception go to 0 and a message saying "sorry, your device can't be activated on another carrier's network right now. For help, contact Verizon." pops up. I believe I could solve the issue by changing the CSC region code but don't want to trip KNOX. These are things I tried:
Phone Dialer */# commands did not work to change CSC or even show IMEI. Might be Verizon locked or Android 12 locked.
Flashing XAA region firmware did not help the issue even though it cleared all verizon bloatware and splash screen.
Flashing another carrier's (Tmobile) firmware and accidentally updated my bootloader to Binary 3 .
I believe that a potential fix is to flash android 11 from Verizon and maybe the phone dialer commands will work to change CSC.
Anyway, this has been a real headache and I just want to use my phone like normal on my selected carrier. Be careful with phones that have VZW region codes!!!
EDIT: I have the SM-G990U Snapdragon US model of the Galaxy S21 FE. Android 12 and 4.1 UI.
EDIT 2: The OEM Unlock Option does not exist on my phone even after becoming a developer.
You ever able to get this working?
I bought a Canadian variant Samsung Galaxy S20 (Snapdragon) yesterday, and knew that the SIM reader slot was faulty and needed to be replaced. I had assumed that I could just use eSIM, but didn't realize that the Canadian variants have it blocked.
Any advice on how to enable it? Can I maybe flash international firmware onto it to have the SIM card manager and enabling of eSIM, and if so, which one and how? Using Odin? Or a modified Odin? Do I need a working SIM reader?
Or maybe I change the CSC? If so, any instructions on how to do it with my variant?
Or do I need to root? If so, any instructions on how to unlock the bootloader (I don't have the OEM unlock option in Developer Options) if I am on One UI version 4.1? Or do I need to downgrade? If so, how do I downgrade?
I really don't want to have to tear this phone apart and resolder on a new SIM reader slot. It's a really great phone and the nicest one I've owned.
I'm not sure where to start.

I read that if the W model is flashed with the U1 firmware, Samsung Pay can no longer have Canadian credit cards added. Can someone verify? OneUI 5.1 is being tested on the S20. We can only hope Samsung enables eSIM for that release.
W model has 13 release now. Does it still not support esim?
I was on the U1 model Android 12 in Dec 2022 (With esim enabled) and updated to the W model Android 13 firmware figuring it should have esim enabled however it did not.
I used odin to switch to the Android 13 U1 firmware but it did not enable esim (I used the home_csc). I flashed the older U1 Android 12 firmware which did enable esim again but I had to factory reset the phone due to a boot loop.
After reseting and doing an OTA update to Android 13 the esim stayed enabled and I restored a backup using smart switch for my apps and settings.

So in summary, to get eSIM in A13 U1, first odin install A12 U1, and then OTA to A13? The A13 U1 was uploaded yesterday ( link ).

Does Samsung Pay work with Canadian credit cards in your A13 U1? That's the only requirement holding me back from converting. Samsung Pay+Google Wallet cover 90% of the places I regularly shop at.

Ok guys so i bought Samsung Galaxy S22+ in Korea. I am from Europe. Reason why i bought phone in Korea was it was like 20% cheaper then in EU + it have Snapdragon instead Exynos.
But as i came back home i was in for a suprise, coz i tried to set up dual sim for the phone, but then i realized i cant do it. SIM card tray where u put physical SIM cards have only 1 SLOT, 2nd slot that was supposed to be on the back side is slighty modified so SIM card cant fit in, also there is no writing SIM2 like its written on fron (SIM1).
Also phone doesnt have support for eSIM, i cant open SIM manager or anything related to SIM cards in settings of my phone.
Dual SIM is important for me coz i use 1 SIM for SMS and phonecalls, its my number, and 2nd SIM is for internet. We are able to buy internet SIM here that have 60GB of data per month and its super cheap, like 7 EURO, so running dual SIM is super cheap version. If i buy internet via my regular phone providers where i can use phonecalls and SMS combined, it cost like 3x more.
SO yeah, i mean i could go for more expensive version and just have 1 SIM but its stupid coz 1 of reasons was i bought that phone is to run it DUAL SIM, i have also my old Huawei P30 pro working just fine, and now i feel dumb for buying another new phone that was meant to replace my old and its not working 100% correctly...
Can i modify my phone to make it work? Install EU version of Android or something? I would rly like to make it work, although even if i make it work i am not sure if my Internet/Phone service provider support eSIM so i swap this main physical sim with eSIM and then use internet one as physical. But ill deal with this later. I just wanna try enable eSIM first if its possible and have dual sim support in my settings.
Any help is very appreciated!
Best regards!
