Question HELP How to restore com.android.systemui? - Realme GT Master Edition

Good evening. When removing system packages, inadvertently deleted com.android.systemui, now it's just a black screen. I can use adb. Tried 2 commands: adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.systemui and adb shell pm install-existing com.android.systemui but didn't help. Maybe there are ideas how to restore the com.android.systemui package without resetting the phone, please help.

although the apk is not really deleted, it is flagged as disabled in /data/system/users/0/package-restrictions.xml. you could download ROM according to ro.build.fingerprint then extract the apk, copy to /data/local/tmp and try to install..

How can you install APKs from other ROMs?

I have looked around quite a bit, and haven't really figured out the straight answer on this.
I have seen apks that can be downloaded of things like the clock or gallery app, and then I have seen custom roms that include things like the AOSP dialer, contact app, browser, etc. However in my small amount of trying, I couldn't install them on top of another ROM (or stock).
Is there an issue with signing them, or does it have to be done in recovery mode, or do I have to remove the existing stuff in something like Titanium backup and then install the other APKs, or would my only option be to learn the dark arts of rom cooking?
Edit: Answered thanks to mrchu001. Doing an "adb remount" and then issuing the install command from the shell worked.
I'm not sure if this works for ALL apks between roms, but when i flashed Fresh it didn't have the cooliris 3d gallery that DC has, so i opened the zip, and copied the APK from one rom to the other then flashed it. I'm sure there are some programs that just won't work even if you did it this way, but something to consider.
That works in most cases..
Just get the zip on your computer, open it extract the apk you want and adb install it to your connected device.
No luck with either method mentioned above. I'm sure I don't know what I'm doing... but I did an adb install <apk name> and got an error:
Code:
MacBook: tools laydros$ adb install CarDock.apk
1344 KB/s (238640 bytes in 0.173s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/CarDock.apk
Failure [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_UNEXPECTED_EXCEPTION]
And I grabbed one of the base rooted roms, unzipped, added the CarDock and DeskClock apks to the system/app folder with everything else, and the ROM failed to load. I did the same clockwork rom manager install rom from SD card methods I have done before. I assume this means that the zip was not properly signed.
The apks I was testing were ones from bugless beast 0.4, any ideas?

it looks like you didnt direct your terminal correctly. i'm assuming you have the sdk on your computer btw. now try to upload the rom you want on your phone. plug it in. make sure usb debugging is set. make sure the apks you want to put on your phone are on your desktop. and try this:
Code:
cd ~/*where every your sdk is*/tools
./adb remount
./adb shell
./adb install ~/desktop/*apk name* /system/app
./adb shell reboot
maybe you already tried but just incase.. do you have the Unknown sources check box "Checked" under "Settings/application" menu? if not you need to to install apps not from the market..

The remount part did it, and then doing the install from adb shell. Thanks so much.
For the sake of anyone else that finds this, once you type adb shell, you are working from the phones shell instead of the one on your computer, so you would skip that command. I ended up moving the files to the sdcard, and then doing
Code:
cd ~/*where every your sdk is*/tools
./adb remount
./adb shell
(at this point you are at the phone's prompt)
install /sdcard/*apk name* /system/app
exit
(now you are back at the computer's prompt)
./adb shell reboot
Now I need to figure out what to install to get the phone/contacts working. Calendar and Mms applications were easy, but after installing several apks for the phone and contacts I just have a mess.
FroydVillain 1.0.0 install *.apk files in /system/app
Hi has anyone tried installing another apk file in FroydVillain 1.0. I follow the steps in the thread described i am able to issue adb shell commands and i have placed the apk files in the SD card as described. but i am getting an error as below that the file or dir is not found. tried several paths:
# install /mnt/sdcard/*.apk /system/app
install /mnt/sdcard/*.apk /system/app
install: can't stat '/mnt/sdcard/*.apk': No such file or directory
# install /sdcard/*.apk /system/app
install /sdcard/*.apk /system/app
install: can't stat '/sdcard/*.apk': No such file or directory
I use /mnt/sdcard path cause on Froyo the SDCARD folder is under /mnt.
any help solving this. i am trying to install some of the HTC Sense UI app to sys app. Like Stock.apk for test. and HTCAlbum.apk and others same result every time.
I have tried also AndroidCommander 0.7.9.6 updated for froyo. installing with it's install option button, and also from the console i run the shell command for install, successfully adds the apk in sys app folder but the apk is not installed, and asks for installation.
Thanks.

ADB question

Mocked up a quick script to push Swype to my device, and added a bit to uninstall all the system apps I don't like everytime I flash a nightly
Can anyone tell me why the uninstall part fails? part fails?
Code:
cd "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools"
adb.exe devices
adb.exe root
adb.exe push Swype.apk /system/app
adb.exe push libSwypeCore.so /system/lib
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/VoiceDialer.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/Email.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/SoundRecorder.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/ADWLauncher.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/HTMLViewer.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/FileManager.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/CarHomeLauncher.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/GenieWidget.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/Talk.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/GenieWidget.apk
adb.exe uninstall /system/app/LatinImeTutorial.apk
pause
I assume you're running the script with command prompt since it uses adb and points to the sdk on the c drive.
Well first, adb is simply adb - not - adb.exe. That should get you started. Also, after adb devices you'll need to replace 'adb root' with 'adb remount' or just run it in a shell so you can use linux style commands since you'll be writing to the /system. You're on the right track though.
You might also consider making a flashable .zip instead that you can run with clockwork. I made one for swype that worked - haven't tried it with 2.3 which uses updater_script and updater_binary format as opposed to the update_script and I can't remember which one I used
If you want, I can try to make a .sh script (run through android terminal) or hopefully modify my swype installer zip to delete those apps and install swype.
Try this, it should work. Unzip the file and double click on the test.bat file with the phone plugged in.
Thanks for the reply, yea I was making a bat script.. I tried different combos of remount/reboot too..
It doesn't matter, adb.exe or adb.. It pushes the files fine, but for some reason can't uninstall packages using the uninstall command

Always getting INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK when trying to uninstall package via adb

Hi everyone,
I would like to debloat my phone by uninstalling apps for my profile instead of disabling them but i'm always getting "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK: Missing existing base package for null]"
Code:
PS C:\Program Files (x86)\Mini ADB and Fastboot> ./adb.exe shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.microsoft.office.officehubrow
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK: Missing existing base package for null]
I tried other apps with the same result. Of course,I have installed the samsung android drivers for windows, activated USB Debugging mode on my phone and if i send other kinds of commands like "./adb.exe shell pm list package", it work.
Thank you for your help!
Because those aren't apps but app stubs. Disable them instead.

Bootloop after uninstalling com.miui.securitycenter app with adb

Hi,
I've got Redmi Note 8T updated yesterday (I think V11.0.5.0.PCXEUXM).
Today I used adb command to uninstall com.miui.securitycenter app and after a reboot the device doesn't boot anymore.
Bootloader is locked.
Is there a way to recover without deleting user data?

yes there are a few apps which you can't uninstall otherwise you'll face bootloop like mi security, digital wellbeing etc..but the good news is since you uninstalled using adb so you don't have to do a lot of work to recover your phone..use the following command to reinstall the app :
Code:
adb shell cmd package install-existing <name of package>
This works because applications truly aren’t being fully uninstalled from the device using adb command, they are just being uninstalled for the current user (user 0 is the default/main user of the phone) and come back when you reset your phone or use the above mentioned command.
Thank you @the_weird_aquarian for your reply, but I couldn't access adb shell anymore so I had to wipe data.
(digital wellbeing as far as I know can be disabled/uninstalled without problems).
Same here, I use redmi note 8 pro. Just go to recovery mode, wipe data... Ur phone should working now. Wipe data make factory reset. I don't see other option to keep data. Except u ever back up using mipcsuite
where to use this command ? in twrp or fastboot mode ?

is this the right way to use it :
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.updater

Unfortunately you cannot uninstall com.miui.securitycenter or else your phone will go into bootloop...It's a core miui component and xiaomi designed it that way..
regarding the com.android.updater I haven't tried deleting it so I can't confirm if your phone will enter bootloop after deleting it or not...
adb shell cmd package install-existing com.android.updater
is the command to install any package back if you want..but it'll only work if you've only removed packages via adb..I've already explained why it works that way in my previous reply...If you delete folders right away from /system/app or /system/priv-app like I do, then this command won't work.
To uninstall any package via adb, download minimal adb and fastboot, connect phone normally to pc (no twrp or fastboot required), open cmd in adb and fastboot drivers path and use following commands (Hit ENTER after each command):
Code:
adb shell
pm uninstall -k --user 0 packagename

Yes It works. Just try installing the com.miui.securitycenter package through "adb shell pm install-existing com.miui.securitycenter" while the MIUI logo appears in the bootloop.
Tried and saved my bricked device.
Thanks for the tip on "install-existing", folks. Saved my bacon.

can i disable (not delete) security center via ADB or causes this also bootloop? What About Gallery & Theme App?

the adb command :
pm uninstall -k --user 0
just freez the app for user 0 , it does not remove it (check with a file explorer after a reboot)
and you can't touch security app or you will face bootloop
that app alone is what made me look for a custom rom ...
about gallery and theme you can, but i suggest you do a full backup just in case ...

Stock gallery3d apk needed

Hello, can I kindly ask for link to stock gallery3d apk 'cause after debloating by uninstall command in adb I removed it. I don't wanna do factory reset. Reinstalling command is not working but it's obvious since it is not disabled.
I did it myself. For everyone who don't know how to reinstall app after uninstalling it with adb.
Go to adb again. Type adb shell after that you need to enable deleted package typing pm enable com.coloros.gallery3d after that you need to install package typing package install-existing com.coloros.gallery3d (or pm install-existing com.coloros.gallery3d - I forgot what exactly I type). After that everything is working.
Were you able to uninstall game center and app market safely?
