I've rooted my Pixel XL and today an update became available and keeps a notification in the left corner. How can I disable this?
I have this question too. Is blocking all notification from Google play services the only way?

Hmm, I still get it? Regardless of "Automatic software update" switch is on or off. I'm unlocked and rooted. Does that have anything to do with it?

Odd. I don't get them. Slider off and unlocked and rooted also.
After turning off automatic updates in developer's settings, look in Settings/Notifications/Google Play Services and Block Notifications. You'll never see it again.

Anyone else having this problem. It's only just happened. I've unpaired, uninstalled software, done everything I can think of. My phone is connected to it but when I get a message etc it doesn't come up on my watch.

I've factory reset my phone and watch. Still not working. A phone call comes up on my watch so it must be a setting I can't work out.
Mine was working yesterday on a stock rooted rom on my phone, but not today on a modified rom. What are you running?

Hi,
I also had issues and did not recieve messages on my watch... (see: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-watch/help/messages-arriving-watch-t3510071)
Did your recently reset your phone to factory settings?
Because the new version of Android Wear is asking for permissions to recieve notifications.
I did everything but the solution was simple for me:
Open the Android Wear app and on startup page there should be a blue notification which says something like klick here to enable notifications...klick this button and allow the notification permission and everything should work fine now.

You can also access that in Settings > Apps > Gear Icon (upper right) > Advanced / Special Access > Notification access, then toggle on the Android Wear if it is not on
Thanks a bunch... I went to the app and noticed it said not connected... Touch to reconnect... Had to do that 4x and it finally connected

I'm having the same problem only I've done all of the above and it's still not working.
Notifications work for everything except messages and gmail.
It's only been doing it since the watch updated to Android Wear 2.5.
I have reset both the phone and the watch to factory, deleted and reinstalled the apps and still nothing.

Same here after OTA update to 2.5 I can't receive notifications on my watch anymore..had to reset my phone and watch but still not working.
I wonder if there's a way to roll back to 2.0???

I don't know but I wish there was an easy way to go back to 2.0.
Hopefully someone far smarter than me will see this and tell us how easy it is ?
try to "sync all apps" again with the android wear app.. then shut down and restart the watch. This works until I rebooted my phone, then I had to do it again

It's obvious now that the current Android Wear app on the phone needs to be updated to become compatible with the 2.5.
My workaround to this issue was, which I've tested many times and worked so far, finger crossed!:
1-Turn the watch off
2-Turn the Bluetooth off on the phone
3-Turn the watch on completely
4-Turn on the Bluetooth on the phone.
The first notification will take 3-4 seconds to arrive.
Excellent effort. So far that seems to be working for me. I haven't received any messages yet but I'm getting my email notifications (which I wasn't before).
Thank You

That worked for me, thanks.
Oddly enough though, I followed the instructions step by step and actually had a facebook notification pop up on the watch immediately after it powered up but before I'd turned bluetooth back on on the phone!
@hagba Thank you very much those step work. I also noticed that google assistant doesn't work when you send your first query. You have to ask it something, click on the little colored dots then ask it the same thing again and it works. You have to do this everytime you make any request. Annoying. I hope the knuckleheads at Google will fix these annoying issues soon.

Myself I have no such problem with the Google assistant, it works fine from the first voice command without touching the colored dots, even "Ok Google" works well.

Worked for me, too. Got a message notification before I turned the Bluetooth back on, lol:good:
I have noticed any of the apps that supports pop-up notification doesn't work? I'm pretty sure it's because of the notch being in the way.
Mine comes and goes. It's very frustrating!
I've experienced this a few times. A reboot fixed it. I read somewhere that someone said they stopped working after using the Pixel Stand. I haven't tested that to verify.
Mine come and go as well. The first time they stopped working, I checked Messages, and it somehow turned itself off (it was definitely on). Flipped it back on, and it worked for a few hours. Rebooted my phone yesterday and it's been working. I'm hoping for a lot of fixes in the November update...
I don't know if this is your issue or not but I found it yesterday on the interwebs.
Search settings for custom then select custom restrictions.
In here I had a check next to "Don't pop notifications on screen" when the screen is on.
I unchecked it and now I get heads up notifications on the applications that I turned them on for.

I looked, and mine was already unchecked.
My earlier post, I had mentioned that it had been working again, now it stopped working again... WTF Google?
1) Go to Notification Access
2) Uncheck Pixel Stand
You should be able to see pop up notifications now

It's definitely the pixel stand. Every time I take my phone off I have to reboot for notification previews to start working again. I set this, hopefully it works. Any caveats?

I have not yet tested the notifications when placing the Pixel 3 on the Pixel Stand so have not seen any caveats. But just see this as a temporary fix until Google releases the patch for the ambient notification bug. Hope it helped.

Didn't work. Unchecked this yesterday, took my phone off the stand this morning, no previews or popups... They really need to update their app. This is stupid. I have to reboot my phone every day...
I just updated to EMUI 10 last week which has been great, but today it updated again to 10.0.0.188 and now I keep getting a notification about my full screen gestures app (I use it along with the system full screen gestures) which I can't disable. It says "If you don't want" this feature I can disable it, but I DO want it. All I can do is put it on 'gentle notification' so it only sits in my notification bar but it's just taking up space for no reason. There's got to be a way to disable this notification.

Thank you for taking time out of your day just to say maybe, I'll definitely come to you in future when I need more maybes, what an amazing contribution.
Have you tried disabling that feature, then rebooting your phone and going into settings an enabling it again once it's booted back up?
Toggling on/off rebooting, etc. That's all I can think of.
Also, since you just updated, have you considered resetting the phone? I know it's a major pain, but it might help. Last resort of course. I had to reset after my most recent update before the one I got today. I'm hoping I don't have to reset this time.

You are welcome
So a friend and I got the 13 Pro for 2 days and we already encountered so many problems, most of them I've been able to fix, but there are two remaining that I can't manage to fix, and not the least.
Firstly, we don't receive push notifications for Gmail. Notifications are enabled for Gmail in phone settings, in the Gmail app, and battery saver is disabled for the app. Everything seems normal. We tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, rebooting the phone, clearing data of the app. Nothing works.
Secondly, when sending a voice message on Instagram, the voice waveform is flat. Like there is no sound. But there is actually sound, it just shows like there is not. Not a huge problem in itself but it's quite disturbing when a recording a message, and for the person who receives it.
Also, not really a problem but still deserves an honorable mention, as stated previously, my friend and I have the same phone, (Xiaomi 13 Pro 12/256GB, MIUI 14.0.15, Model 2210132G). His torch light is yellowish, like most of the phones I'd say, while mine is very white and bright. We just don't know why...
Any help would be very appreciated, especially for the Gmail issue which is very problematic
(screenshots attached for more details)
I assume you have granted permissions to Gmail, even though it is not mentioned in the post.
Version of the rom(full name)?.
Yes permissions for notifications were granted to Gmail on the first launch of the app.
The ROM full name is 14.0.15.0(TMBEUXM)

I can't find this rom.
Long press on the Gmail icon/information/permissions :
Allow all (always allow except sms).
That's weird, this is the ROM for Europe I guess, I didn't installed anything else, just updated the the software when prompted on first boot
So I gave all permissions to Gmail.

The screen shot does not correspond with what I told you above.
Couldn't find "Allow all (always allow except sms)" when going to Gmail information while long pressing the app icon so I thought you just meant to allow everything
Anyway, I really don't know why but it works now ! I received email notifications for your replies to the thread so I hope it's not temporarily Thank you lol

You indirectly grant the permissions.
Check like this;
Xiaomi settings/app management/installed apps/gmail/authorizations.
Sorry I'm trying my best but the steps you give me don't match with what I see
Here is what I got in the screenshots below (leading to the same page as the screenshot from one of my previous post)
I got Settings > Apps > Manage Apps > Gmail > App permissions
Ok,it's good, it's Gmail that does that (I don't use Gmail).
Okay, now it's not working anymore, I'm desperate

No screen notification on standby or even screen on?
used you AOD?
Screen on or screen off, no notifications.
Last notifications I received were from about 30 mins ago (screenshot below), phone vibrated, notification showed on wake screen and in the top bar when unlocked.
But if I open the Gmail app, there is an email notifying me your reply at 5:58, for which I didn't receive a push notification...

Check, settings/notifications/lock screen, floating notifications, badges.
Effect of notifications/all but none.
If you use AOD/verify that on used theme that notifications is activated.
Gmail notifications are correctly allowed for lock screen, floating notifications and badges.
Notification is set to animation (Pulse, blue)
Sorry forgot to reply to this part, I not using always-on display
This is so frustrating...

Check:
Xiaomi settings/app management/manage permissions/permissions/apps then permissions.
Ok so this time I got a push notification ! Phone was unlocked, I'll let it locked from now to see if it changes anything next time.
Regarding your reply, I already checked here a few minutes ago while browsing in the settings looking for anything that was disabled while it's shouldn't be... Everything looks good there.

Well, apart from granting Gmail all permissions (post #5) I didn't change anything since I opened this thread. But I now randomly get push notifications... I got one when you posted, but like 50 mins ago I received an email for which I didn't get a notification... This is nonsense, I don't know what to think
