i've been facing touch issues for the last 3/4 months...
it's very annoying..sometimes lock and unlock makes it normals...but after like 10 minutes i t happens again..i looked up in the sony xperia sites and some people were also complaining about the issue but no reply from sony officials.i thought it was a software problem as some of the other consumers also have this touch issue so i decided to go back to oreo from the latest update..
but the problem stills exists even after flashing back to oreo.
anyone have any idea about this issue?
You wrote quite a few words, but you failed to describe the issue itself.
So, what is the problem?

Maybe hardware damage?
Maybe heat?

I have experienced these same issues from time to time. I don't have a fix for it other than to restart your phone. That seems to fix the problem for a while.
One other thing I have done is to just close out of everything, lock the screen then rub it against my shirt to clean the screen a bit. These aren't very scientific approaches but it does seem to work in my case.

I have it too. Usually turninhg the phone on and off again works. But it's quite annoying
Having the same issue!
When touching in the bottom half of the screen (for example when typing on the keyboard), it starts to pull down my notification bar.
Also happened yesterday: was typing sth in WhtasApp, and suddenly I got asked, if i really want to start a phone call. The button for this action is on a upper area, of the screen.
I think it started with a update, a while ago. Cant really say wich one.
For me, it works to lock and unlock the screen. The issue is gone for at least 10 minutes. So i think its a software bug. I am hopeing best for the future android 10 update in Q1 2020.
But for me, such software bugs should not occour. And its weak from sony, they dont release a patch to fix it. Probably my last sony phone...

I assume the problem is in the firmware of the touch screen.
A small OS operating with the kernel touch driver
And I assume you can't downgrade it, unless you allow it in the kernel(defconfig)
I have a same problem. When I tap the lower part of screen, it starts to pull down the notification bar.
Same touch issue + accelerometer
I've had the same issue with the touchscreen - inputs along the bottom half pull the notification shade down. Also, my accelerometer fails the xperia test in the support app. Can anyone provide experience with Sony warranty claims? I sent my device in for repair and they literally just sent it back with no comments or remarks on the device or issues : /
Dont think the problem is Software related but Hardware. mine is like that since it got underwatter. problem is that changing the LCD panel can or not fix the issue, the investment alone of the panel 100€ and the hand work 75-100€ is nearly a 2/3 of a new one to not surely fix the problem. What I mean is, without a oficial stand from sony itself we cannot trust/invest money trying to fix and thats a shame.
The issues is happening in my phone too, yesterday sony bring the android 10 update, and i think its fixed, because after i updating the phone, im not experiencing that issues anymore

Almost every Samsung android phone I've own has this problem after using it for a period of time. I've had the note 10+ since launch and the dreaded issue has return.
For some apps, I would tap the notification for the app. It would take a few minutes before the app will open.
Anyone has this issue?
I've had it on my note8, Note9 and now the note10+.
Hard reset will fix it but I don't want to reset and start again..
Continuation from note 8 thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/app-lag-clicking-notification-t3781356/page2
I don't have this issue.
Some people prefer to perform an hard reset as soon as they got the phone, before starting using it for the first time ; maybe they had some issues like yours at first, then wanted to avoid them.
Personally I didn't got any at first run.
That's odd, I have not experienced what you say in any of my samsung devices dating from my beloved S3 to this note10+
Yes..i am so confuse why it happens.. When the phone is new or just had a hard reset.. I don't have the issue.. Over time I always get it.
I also have this issue and it's incredibly annoying. Apps will take a full minute to open after being tapped on from the notifications banner. I too have had all but one Note product since the original (skipped the 2nd gen), but this is the first I can recall this issue happening. I'm also experiencing the issue of Google Play store apps getting stuck at 99% or 100% and not installing for 10 minutes or longer.
Is it all apps or certain apps only? Are you running stock or rooted? Exynos or Snapdragon? I haven't seen this issue shown up in a while, but have had it happen on Android devices in general in the past.

It seems to be related to pendingIntent type notifications as if I tap a notifications that is a collapsed version of all the notifications, the app will load instantly. Have a look at this video I created:
(I didn’t include the tap showing on screen unfortunately, will attempt to do another video next time)
Initial tap was when the notification is collapsed for reolink and that will just open up the app. Happens instantly.
I close the app, expanded the notification and click on specific notification
The app doesn’t open until 8 minutes + later towards the end of the video.
Issue is happening across a fair few apps so I doubt it's common app..
I also have the issue of delayed notifications as discussed here:

Have the same issue with the play store. One way to speed it up is to force close play store... Then reopen it..
The app will redownload and should install this time.. Not always..
Quick update: Got fed up and did a factory reset and restored everything. Everything's working fine now. Obviously that's a last resort, but so far it's the only solution I've seen.

Yes.. It will fix it.. But it's temporary..
The issue won't happen straight away.. It takes a few weeks/months and will return.. It has happened to me from the note 8, note 9 and now note 10+.
Initially everything will be good and fast.. Then eventually issue will return..
So need to try to get to the root of it..

I have been dealing with 3 issues in my phone:
-delayed notifications
-slow app opening when tapping notifications
-apps installation through play store delayed after download
So recent development, I have been following this thread on Samsung forums regarding delayed notifications
https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5...ting-all-range-of-Samsung/td-p/738070/page/28
Have tried all the fixes which has given minor relief..
But the last suggestion to disable dynamic lock on windows 10 seems to have fixed the issue for me. Early days but all 3 issues have not reoccured yet today.. Usually my Samsung reminders will not show until I reboot. But today been good so far.
Apps install instantly and apps open from notifications straight away..
Will report back in a few days if anything changes..

So ... did this do it? I've been dealing with this for a LONG time. My Note 8 started this crap after the 9 'upgrade', motivated me to get a new Note 10. A few months later, the SAME exact problem is cropping up.
Slow notification reactions, stuck installs, notifications coming in repeatedly, notifications coming in late all at once.
If this isn't resolved soon, my next phone will definitely not be a Samsung.

Yes, my issue is gone now. Try removing windows dynamic lock and unpair your phone from your laptop if you have this setup.
If not, try slowly removing other Bluetooth devices.
For me, a Bluetooth yeelock also caused the delay to return..I have to reboot each time after using the lock to get it back to normal.
I also think a plantronics desktop headset was also causing the issue as I was getting the lag everytime I reach home since removing windows dynamic lock. I have since unplugged it and unpaired. So far been good for a few weeks now.
I heard this issue wasn't specific to Samsung but might be an Android issue..i think it started with Android 9.0 as you have mentioned as I never had this issue when I was using the note 8 before one ui.. But note 9 and 10+ both had issues..
Similar issue mentioned on pixel phone support:

I don't have Dynamic Lock set up, nor do any of my computers have bluetooth enabled. BUT I do have this cursed Plantronics PLT W8200 series headset that has been nothing but buggy since I got it. Not surprised if this is the cause. I just unpaired it - fingers crossed.
I hope that's it because otherwise, it's just 2 other pretty crucial devices I have paired.

Would be good to hear if this fixes your issue. Please make sure you reboot after unpairing too and if possible completely unplug the plantronics as I think it might try to connect to your phone still (but fail) and potentially still bring the issue back as my yeelock doesn't even show up as a paired device, the app just sends msg to it via bluetooth and I still have delays after using it.

PHP:
Can anyone help me replicate this bug?
I am on Android Version: 10.
Security Patch: April 5, 2020.
Google Play System Update: March 1, 2020
Build number: QQ2A.200405.005
Basically what happens is that when I'm using the "Gesture Navigation" from the System Navigation settings, whenever I swipe up to open the app drawer and exit out swiping from the right of the screen. The 5 main icons on the home screen become unresponsive and do not respond accurately to touch at times. When I do the same thing but exit out swiping to the left part of the screen instead, the issue never happens. Also, this is one way of fixing the issue whenever it happens.
I've recorded videos to help visualize the issue. They're basically the same, but I made one while on safe mode and after a reset.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=URGlfZlnCvw&feature=share - safe mode with show taps enabled
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r9LNINohHA&feature=share - factory reset
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Same exact thing happened to me on Android 10!
I've since opted into the Android 11 beta and am currently on DP3! Sadly, however, this issue is still there and has gotten WORSE as now touch responsiveness breaks completely whilst in the app switcher - not just for the bottom row of apps.
I submitted a bug report yesterday and was told that this was a duplicate issue that should be fixed in one of the upcoming Android 11 internal builds (which could mean the second release candidate build, unless they meant the last Dev Preview Build - DP4). So it will either be fixed next month, or 2-3 months from now when that second release candidate build drops for Android 11!
Status: Won't Fix (Obsolete)
Thank you for reporting this issue.
We were able to reproduce the issue on the reported build. However, the issue is not reproducible on our internal development build (which is ahead of the public release). Please test it on the final public release and let us know if you are still having issues.

Great! At least I'm still not alone in this. I tried talking to support a couple of days back and they basically told me it's a hardware issue, and apparently "no one has ever reported it" and send it back for warranty which I refuse to believe. Thanks, hopefully, they do fix it.

If you end up getting sick of dealing with the issue, I'd suggest installing the "Lawnchair 2" launcher from the Play Store. It's basically a 100% rip of the stock Pixel Launcher app, but with additional customization options. Also, ironically enough, it's like twice as stable as the current Pixel Launcher as well.
If you go into the Lawnchair settings, you can even choose to enable the Google Feed - so it's a good way to circumvent the issue for now without changing the interface that you're used to at all.
This is what I just did on my phone and it seems to be working well at the moment as so far I haven't run into the bottom-row touch responsiveness issue! There are, however, still some issues with the gesture navigation - but those should be isolated to my device as I'm running the new app switcher from the Android 11 Developer Preview.

No major issues for me thankfully. Only minor ones I've experienced is that the "1" and "0" keys on the keyboard have a small delay before they appear. I'm guessing edge detection is a little aggressive to make sure I wanted to tap those keys?
And taking video sometimes has this weird wobble effect in the video with occasional brightness flickering on walls for instance.
Other than this, everything is great. It will be fixed in software updates. I still haven't downloaded the latest one which said it improved video so maybe this is already solved.
I have not had any problems. Not sure if matters but I always set the phone from scratch, no copy apps or backups. The most I do is export settings and import setting for some apps.
For me, it has proven to avoid a lot of "weird" things...
Not sure if this is the same issue OP is having but I've noticed since day 1 that there is a noticeable delay when pressing or long pressing the keys on the edge of the keyboard. For example, there's about a split second to full second delay when pressing the backspace key. So that means, I have to wait for that delay and then wait again for the original delay if I want to delete whole words at once. It is super frustrating.
I did some testing to see if maybe it's because I'm using gestures and the delay may be caused by the phone detecting the edge touch and waiting for a swipe inward to go back, but that's not the case as it happens with the button navigations too.
Looks like my issue is known and has been around for a while, even though it was not present in my OP7 Pro as of last week when I switch to the 9 Pro.

Sadly I can't update just yet as the install fails, likely due to me flashing the EU boot image on my global variant. When I update I hope my issue is fixed. I also just realized that my issue is a tad bit different than OP's. I decided to make a short video for you all to see, link at the bottom.
I started typing in the center of the keyboard so you can see how quick and responsive it is. Then I go to the edges and you'll see there's like a full second delay until the phone picks up the touch for the key. For the scrolling, I tested along the entire edge and it was the same which leads me to believe my issue is not a keyboard typing issue, but a full screen edge touch delay detection issue. You'll see that when I start the scrolling in the center of the screen, it's quick and smooth. When starting the scroll from the edge of the screen, it initially jumps before scrolling smoothly.
I swear it almost feels like the phone detects the touch on the edge but does not register it right away and instead waits a second to see if I will then slide in from the edge to go back since I'm using gestures. But I tried using the button navigation instead of gesture and the delay is still there so idk at this point. I can confirm that this issue never happened on the OP7 Pro that I'm coming from.

Same here. The 1 and 0 keys have a delay. I assume this has to do with edge touch rejection and it's be nice to have some settings to change this behavior, like Samsung has done (if that is the issue). Could be gestures as well with the OS wondering if you'll do a gesture, but it should not be this much of a delay. It is annoying for sure.

I'm pretty sure it's due to the gestures. I just tested it on my regular 9, same problem, it takes a fraction of a second to realize I'm scrolling and not trying to do a gesture if I'm at the edge of the screen. Does it happen with button navigation?
Does anyone else have this issue where you are swiping and it will suddenly freeze and you have to wait for it to unfreeze, maybe Gboard needs updating for Android 12

Not specifically Gboard, but quite literally only just today I've been getting some little lags on my Pixel 6 Pro and experience the same freeze on SwiftKey.
Running Kirisakura and all has been well with no new apps installed recently, but indeed today been getting some weird brief lags....
Unsure what the cause could be, but thought I'd share my experience nonetheless
I had a ton of Android 12 issues that were tangentially related to Gboard: minimize arrow persisting even when the keyboard wasn't visible, mysterious System UI ANRs after using the keyboard, etc. At some point I had opted in to the Gboard beta and opting out to the production release build fixed all of my issues.
Yes. Sporadically
I've been having intermittent issues with both Gboard and Swiftkey. There's been a few times when the keyboard doesn't display when I'm trying to message or send an email. I have to restart the phone. A bit of a pain in the butt. BTW, I have not received the December update.

Trying the beta version now to see if that fixes it
I do also encounter some lag when typing. Already contacted google support about it. You can either wipe your phone, if the problem isn't gone you are able to send it in for warranty.
I assume it is a software problem, so I won't do anything for now.
But glad to see there are more people who have the same problem.

As you worked out seems pointless wiping the phone when its most likely a software issue, the Gboard beta is so far ok for me
I've switched from beta to stable
I do also encounter lagging when browsing in chrome or switching between recent apps. Not a huge deal breaker, but it should be fixed
Maybe this is the cause

Oh I'm glad this is being recognised! As whilst I don't use Gboard (SwiftKey instead) I have the lags, which aren't just typing but also when scrolling and so this lag explanation of occurring when the battery percent drops makes sense as it is very much intermittent.
Will hope to see a fix soon.
This is getting worse for me, was out typing before when it just locked and then after a few seconds a load of gibberish came out
I wonder if this is the cause of some entire screen lock-ups for some of us until we turn the screen off and back on?

I had one where the screen was 100% locked, couldn't turn the screen off or the phone itself for 5 minutes................no way of a hard reset etc so I was worried about screen burn, lucky it reset itself after 5 minutes

Damn, that's pretty bad and I haven't experienced a lock-up of that level. Have you experienced the lesser lock-ups as well? The one that I described in addition to your five minute lock-up?

If it is the Accessibility Services issue plaguing others, it's pretty crazy how extreme the issue is for some. Vs the small delays/hithces that I've read, the majority are suffering. Hopefully Google fixes this soon as I don't want to play device lottery with a refurb.

The only real Accessibility setting I used was dark mode either way this has been going on since October so I'm going to try this new patch from (Jan) Google but if it hasn't fixed it I'm gone and will never buy a Google device again, I found not being able to swipe text etc without freezing for all this time is just pushed me to far now

I just had it happen once on a fresh install of the Jan build when I was scrolling through Discord. Haven't updated the apps yet so that could of been why. I also ran the Pixel repair tool and I'll see if it happens again. It is pretty annoying when it happens and having to stop what you're doing to turn the screen off and on again. Don't really want to deal with Google during a time where their support is non-existent and end up getting a scratched up, dinged up refurb replacement. That or get a replacement and the same crap happens.
