Hi everyone
Badly in need of help, I searched but haven’t found anything I could understand. In the course of trying to flash Arrows custom rom I have ended up stuck in fastboot. I thought I could just use the mi flash tool to flash a stock firmware but all my attempts have failed with this: Unspecified error(0x80004005: “Set active error”)
I’m completely stumped. I’ve tried two different windows PC’s both running windows 7 and get the same outcome each time. Can anyone help please? If there is a way to fix this I need it in simple terms because I’m not particularly well versed in flashing roms and should most likely have steered clear in the first place. Please help a fool if you can. Thanks

Hi,
When things go wrong (Soft Brick), Fastboot is your friend on the F3.
I am assuming that your bootloader is unlocked,
i would suggest to install a MIUI.EU via Fast boot, i have instruction on the AMAZING Evo-X V7.3 thread:
[A13]Evolution X for POCO F3/Mi 11x[alioth][OFFICIAL]
Evolution X 7.0 for the POCO F3 [alioth] /* * Your warranty is void. Or vaild, probably? * * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, Ebolation X, * thermonuclear war, or the current economic crisis caused by you following *...
forum.xda-developers.com
If this is daunting these are the simplified steps:
1. Download xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK40_POCOF3_22.1.19_v13-12-fastboot,
2. Unzip to a PC,
3. Start phone in FASTBOOT mode.
4. connect you F3 to a pc, check that the correct drivers are installed.
5. on your PC open "xiaomi.eu_multi_HMK40_POCOF3_22.1.19_v13-12-fastboot"

As far as i`m aware this happens when you trying to revert back to an original MIUI rom, the fastboot version i suggested is a xiaomi.eu Custom rom.

Hi
Am I right in thinking this is a custom rom? I was hoping to get my phone back to stock? I have tried following your instructions but as I said I need a lot of hand holding so I don’t really understand. I have Xiaomi drivers and ADB installed and when I ran the batch file I get “program can’t start because api-ms-win -crt-heap-[1-1_0.DLL is missing.
@johnr64 Miui install is required before the custom rom in this case. Someone who's not aware of ARB could inadvertently install an official previous version.
Nevertheless it wouldn't hurt to know about it.

Ran batch file? There is more reliable way of doing that. The procedure for flashing official ROM is to (considering your bootloader is unlocked):
Extract tgz file of ROM downloaded
Open MiFlashtTool
Select ROM folder previously extracted (not images folder) | here the batch file is loaded by MiFlashtTool
Select clean all from bottom of MiFlashTool
While rebooted to fastboot, select flash.
It takes about a quarter for me to finish. Maybe you see some freezes through the flashing process. Leave it alone and you will find the phone booted up. Also I use 20200314 version. Other ones don't work as expected.
I don't know your region, but global or eea (equivalent to europe) firmwares are more suitable. Better to download from here. The latest stable version is 13.0.9.0.
The procedure for custom rom is quite different.
Hi,
the intension of my guide was to and make it easy to understand for a new user that are stuck with a (Soft brick) fastboot only.
I personal would only return to STOCK ROM, if i was Selling or sending my phone for repair.
As with most smartphone manufactures MIUI has added bloat ware and are slow with Security updates, i found that stock MIUI lacks compatibility with some hardware, using my Samsung watch as a trusted device.
I been play with Custom roms for 10 Years + starting with the HTC Wildfire,
The F3 is one of the better phone when Firmware flashing/playing goes wrong.
I am currently running the Evolution-X V7.3 rom and it`s simply amazing.
Just wanted to update so nobody will think I’m ignoring help. I’ve run into some issues with missing dll files when trying to do anything so I need to reinstall windows, problems multiplying. I’ll be back to try again soon. Thanks for all the suggestions so far
You do not need to reinstall windows. Just use miflash to install drivers. And then try to install a firmware through it. Make sure to select "clean all" and not "clean all and lock" which is the default selection.
When stuck in fastboot, running the command "fastboot continue" in adb can sometimes get you out of it

Don't suggest that shet
It has broken more devices than I can count !
Fastboot version of memeui.eu can and sometimes will brick your device! To the point where ONLY edl can save it , as we all know edl is not possible - you have to pay someone 15-20$ to do it with authorised account
If rollback is triggered whole another error pops out - in the first seconds of running mi flasher it'll tell you whether you can or can't flash due to rollback
Update of sorts. Having tried all suggested options(some from here and some from elsewhere) and failed each time I took the phone yesterday to a local phone shop that offers “software repairs“. I asked if they could flash a stock firmware and was told it wouldn’t be a problem. They just called and said they can’t do it and rattled off some of the same error messages I’ve been seeing. So….they have effectively told me the phone is dead and want paying for not fixing it. Thank you all for your suggestions but it’s looking like the end of the road!
Further update. Phone is now back with me and still in the same “stuck on fastboot” state as before. I don’t have sufficient knowledge to know for sure if this now dead or if someone with experience would be able to get this back to life. With that in mind is there anyone willing for me to send this phone to them in the expectation that they could get a working firmware on it. If this breaks some forum rule that I’m not aware of then I will of course withdraw the question. Here’s hoping!

It is most likely fixable. You just need to do more research about how to fix it. But it seems you're not inclined to do so.
One fix for your situation which comes to mind is EDL flashing. It can be done by someone who has access to a Xiaomi authorised account. It can be done remotely. Lots of people have fixed their hard bricked devices in this way. But I would not recommend it because it seems fishy.
Another method is to try EDL flashing yourself with a patched firehose file. This method is very advanced and hence I think will not appeal to you. And if you mess it up it could land the phone in a far worse condition than it is now.

Sorry to hear about that, i would look around the net to see if anyone else has had your issue, it`s a shame you didn`t buy it from the UK as mine came with 2 years warranty,
if all else fails you could try as user0u suggested,
and put your phone into EDL Mode (qualcom 9008), this is apparently done by taking off the back and shorting two pin on the PCB, as for a hacked Firehose i haven`t seen anyone with proof of a working version,
with the all the F3 users that are running customs roms, Hard Bricks seem to be quite rare.
I started using customs roms on my F3 from new, well after the 7 days wait to get my boot loader unlocked, i think i`ve maybe installed 16+,
roms and also got stuck in Fast boot a few times, installing xiaomi.eu rom got me back on track and working again.
Was your F3 working fine before it got stuck in fastboot, i saw on the web that some users suggested to let the F3 go completely flat and then enter Fast boot when you connect your charger and then procced to push files over using ADB, https://www.droidwin.com/unbrick-poco-f3/,
I hope you sort it.
Still trying. I downloaded a fresh copy of the MI Flash too l this morning together with a freshly downloaded

If bootloader locked it will work ? Because i have k40 with same problem??

Hi everyone.
I have been reading a few posts about bootloops in hopes that someone would have been facing the same issue as me. It seems my case is a bit different. I am desperate for some help!
My Max 3 came initially with a chinese ROM but I followed some wonderful tutorials here and I unlocked it and installed initially the xiaomi.eu ROM. Then a couple of months later I installed AOSiP ROM, I updated it a couple of times dirty flashing over it, and settled in exactly the "AOSiP-9.0-Pizza-nitrogen-20190719" build. And there i was, for 4 months, all stable, then suddenly today I was going to unlock the phone with my fingerprint and asked for password.
This happens exactly 1 time per day but I noticed that today it was the second time. Then doesn't matter how many times I put my password correctly, it would keep asking for my password. So I decided to restart the device... and then the bootloop issue started. It starts, reaches the moment in which the AOSiP logo shows and (not even 1 second until the logo shows) freezes, and restarts the device.
I can access the recovery without issues so I didn't panic yet, I backed up all I could, wiped everything I could, started from zero: firmware 9.9.3 + AOSiP-9.0-Pizza-nitrogen-20191117 + gapps. The bootloop still there, in exactly the same way. So at this point I have no clue what could be the reason. I was always careful not to trigger any anti-rollback, it was all going good, now not even with a full factory reset seems to work. I even reinstalled the recovery.
Any ideas? does anyone know what could I try next? Thank you very much advance.
I forgot to attach some logs. I got using the TWRP Advanced > Copy Log option.
Well, I guess I completely screwed it now. I had the brilliant idea to go back to some of the original steps I did way back and flashed an old xiaomi.eu ROM "xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX3_8.8.9_v10-8.1", that completely bricked the phone. Screen doesn't even turn on anymore. Is it the end for my Max 3?

The mi max 3 has arb enabled, so flashing old rom can cause it to brick.
Have you tried different button combinations to enter fastboot? If you can get to fastboot, just flash a fastboot rom, if that works.
If the brick is caused by triggering ARB, then that may cause some issues, and may need an Authorized Account to flash the ROM from scratch, with some qualcomm flashing tools things.
Though, there may be some way to bypass the authorization for mi max 3 on the internet and have your device unbricked.
Thank you for your replies. Yes probably ARB, I thought my phone had never installed a ROM with ARB and so I was safe to install xiaomi.eu_multi_MIMAX3_8.8.9_v10-8.1 (which it is also to be pre-ARB), but I guess I made a mistake at some point.
Situation now:
- with Mi Flash I am getting the authorization error with almost any ROM, with very old ROMs I am not even able to start the flashing process
- with Qualcomm QFIL tool I always get an error "function: sahara_rx_data:237 Unable to read packet header. Only read 0 bytes". And I also tried with the patched files from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-5-pro/how-to/fix-arb-bricked-device-qfil-t3841780
I think at this point I tried everything that can be tried. My bootloader was unlocked, but at this point I am not even sure if its unlocked anymore since I can't see anything on the device screen.
The only positive thing is that the phone always shows under the Windows 10 device manager "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008", so at least is a bit alive, and with the Mi Flash at least for some ROMs starts the flash process. I am not sure if disassembling it and trying things like removing the batter would make any difference.
If anyone knows any other way to bypass authorization please let me know.
Here I am back with another update:
- I fixed the full brick by disassembling the phone and disconnecting the battery, with the battery disconnected I could finally flash a Chinese ROM. That however was just the beginning... more problems came
- Common problem I guess is that after booting with that Chinese ROM i was getting a message about how the encryption was interrupted. This was easy, just changed the file system of Data and formatted it and it was fixed.
- Now I am stuck in another hard to solve problem. Any ROM that boots will not allow me to use WiFi or SIM cards. And the reason is that the IMEI is not set anymore. Reading about it I see that this is related with the EFS partition being corrupted. Nothing seems to work now. I don't have any EFS backup . Anyone knows how to fix the IMEI in this case?
Before I get going - yes I know I messed up. I do have plenty of experience flashing ROMs etc, albeit I'm absolutely not an expert. This was purely a not thinking moment.
So I flashed my Samsung Tab S4 with Kali Nethunter a while back, not really used the tab since. Without a great deal of thought, I decided to put the device back to factory. I went back into the OS and flicked the OEM toggle - utter braindead move. Obviously the device now comes up with a warning, the exact wording is:
"Security Error: This device has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair / return for this issue may have additional cost"
I can still access download mode.
Right, now you've finished laughing/cussing me I did some digging and apparently I can still flash with Odin if its the official ROM? I went to SAMMobile and downloaded the latest ROM and Odin fails with a write error.
What I need to know is:
How bad have I messed up?
Is this recoverable?
Any help appreciated.
Hello there,
So yes, pretty bad mistake but these things happen but it should be recoverable. Just follow the link to get your device booted up! Hopefully the link is for your variant, if not look into installing twrp recovery for your device. Once installed you can back up your data and flash the rom compatible using twrp. Then set up the device and restore your data but make sure it's unlocked or your error may repeat itself! Also you have to find the right version of Odin, they do vary some are patched. Have fun!!
Recovery
Hi,
Thanks for the reply Jedi.
It already has TWRP on it, but recovery is inaccessible since I turned the OEM lock back on. The only thing I can now access is download mode but it can't seem to write to it, which I'm guessing is because the OEM lock is back on. I thought I might still be able to write the official Samsung ROMs even with the OEM lock but it doesnt seem like its the case. Obviously no access to ADB to do a Fastboot unlock either. Fresh out of ideas.
Any other solutions?
bump - anyone? lol, really not looking for an expensive door stop.
It seems you're at the dead end. However, there might be a solution for this, not sure though does it work. But go to OnePlus forum and you'll find how to recover from bricked device. You still got hope because of TWRP. good luck bro
OK, so for anyone wondering if this is fixable, the answer is YES!
You can flash the standard ROM even with the bootloader locked. Clearly what I downloaded from SAMMobile wasnt compatible, however when I used Frija, it found and downloaded the correct ROMs.
Another sticking point of this was the infamous USB 2.0 issue, I assumed the ROM was failing again, however when I finally could be arsed to try it on my old PC, its worked like a charm.
So there you have it:
Latest version of Odin
Latest Samsung USB drivers
Latest ROM downloaded from Frija
Put the tablet into download mode and flash away.
TLDR below
Some of the backstory of this device:
This is my girlfriend's first android device, tried so hard to convince her to switch from iPhone to Android, I finally managed to convince her, but... this happened...
So since this is not my device and I wanted a pure Android 12 experience (which I bragged about), I installed Pixel Extended Android 12 Beta to the device. (Only android 12 experience that I got during that time)
This is what I did,
Unlocked the bootloader after 7 days ( using Miunlocktool )
With the phone still in factory firmware, I used pixel extended's recovery image which is located here https://sourceforge.net/projects/pex-alioth/files/1-11-21/
Steps that I did ( fastboot flash boot boot.img > fastboot flash vendor_boot vendor_boot.img > fastboot reboot recovery > Format data > adb sideload PEX.zip > Reboot )
After rebooting, the phone is now in PEX4.0 beta and she proceed to use the devices for several months after PixelExperience released their stable ROM for OTA updates and zero maintenance from my side.
When PixelExperience released their stable ROM, took her phone, trying to shut down the phone so I can go into fastboot and I realized that the phone isn't powering on at all which no display, plugged into my PC, no USB indicator as well.
The phone is dead from a shutdown which shocked me. My guess initially is some kind of electric damage that ruined the motherboard. So I sent this to Xiaomi's service center to get this fixed.
After picking up the phone from the service center yesterday, I have been told that the phone is hard bricked and not some kind of faulty hardware. I am pretty sure they reflashed the firmware with Xiaomi flash tool and it is now running on the global ROM 12.5, with an unlocked bootloader
Feeling weird at the hard brick, I thought I messed up somewhere.
On my second attempt to install PixelExperience, I managed to go into fastboot and sideloaded the zip into ADB. This is the command I used.
( enable USB debugging > adb reboot bootloader > fastboot flash boot PE_recovery.img > adb sideload PE.zip > Reboot )
With the sideload showing success message Total xfer: 1.00x I restarted the device and found that the device is now hard bricked once again.
Super confused, I double-checked the recovery img and ROM to make sure that the files aren't corrupted. Prior to installing, I also made sure to update my ADB and fastboot to the latest version.
----
TLDR
After getting phone hard bricked for the first time, on my second attempt to load a custom rom, the phone hard bricked again.
( enable USB debugging > adb reboot bootloader > fastboot flash boot PE_recovery.img > adb sideload PE.zip > Reboot )

What could go wrong here?
Upon typing here I think I forgot to do a wipe data before reboot, will this cause the phone to hard brick?
I guess I am sending this phone to the service center tomorrow again, made this thread to know what can I do to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Will I be better off using TWRP instead of their custom recovery image?
Am I messing up something here that caused the phone to hard brick? This image is also the exact image my POCO f3 is currently running which I sideloaded successfully and still running fine.
Should I do an update on MiUI before proceeding to install a PixelExperience?
Should I do a reflash after recovering the phone from Xiaomi's service center?
Could this be some kind of hardware problem?
I ordered my phone online but purchased her phone in the store, are there any differences here?
Any help or input is really appreciated, I have been doing this for quite a while now and never faced such an issue before.
I don't know a lot about bricks in general but i think you are supposed to format data after you flash the recovery because that's what i did after installing arrow os but i don't know how would that cause a hard brick.
PE a12 rom is busted that's why that thread is closed.
Your device is in EDL mode. Contact authorized users to unbrick your phone. Will cost you around $25-$30

Yeah i know. your device got bricked because it got updated via the OTA and the pixel firmware got flashed on your device that why your device is in EDL mode.

I think there is some confusion here.
Are you referring to the first hard brick? No OTA update is performed because it is running PEX which does not support OTA updates.
If you are referring to the second hard brick, the phone is never in PE firmware at all. The moment I tried to flash PE rom, the phone got hard bricked with these steps. ( enable USB debugging > adb reboot bootloader > fastboot flash boot PE_recovery.img > adb sideload PE.zip > Reboot )
2 Devices
1) My personal device (POCO F3 Alioth) - Working fine with current latest stable PE
2) Her device (POCO F3 Alioth) - HardBricked, EDL when flashing with these steps ( enable USB debugging > adb reboot bootloader > fastboot flash boot PE_recovery.img > adb sideload PE.zip > Reboot )

----
TLDR

That is what I thought initially as well. However, PE disappointed me as well with the 2nd hard brick. Did I miss any step that caused this? Or this is PE related?
Try flashing aospa.

hmm i dunno then pe works perfectly on my x3 pro
are you sure your using the correct firmware?
try flashing miui firmware over it and booting (cause mabye the oss vendor is the issue)
or just sell your f3 and get the f4 once it comes out (looks to have snapdragon 8 gen 1!)
Try installing CrDroid, follow their installation steps, they work very well
I think most stable Aosp rom for poco f3 is Arrow Os don't use PE again

I have tried all the A12 roms including syberia and arrow and by far this is the best rom. The maintainer of the rom is dev himself and very active and responsive on the telegram grp.

Well, thank you all for the suggestion. But I am not trying to find a rom that suits me or has fewer bugs. I am trying to figure out what goes wrong during my installation or if I missed something.
Is PE really that bad? I have been using them for quite a while now though
i have seen pixel extended that got his thread closed because at shutdown the phone bricked so it really is the roms fault

That's why I suggest using CrDroid, mostly because I haven't failed any installation following their installations steps, the ROM being stable and having good customizations is a perk that comes with it
I have a Redmi Note 8T (willow) - unlocked - TWRP installed - rooted with Magisk 25.2. When I try to flash a custom ROM, all seems to go well. However, after reboot, the telephone reboots in TWRP, and keeps rebooting in TWRP. The only possibility left open to me, appeared booting in Fastboot mode and flash the stock-ROM with MiFlash.
This happened on a few occasions. Yesterday, I tried https://private.projectelixiros.com...2_ginkgo-13.0-20221025-1529-BETA-OFFICIAL.zip with the same result. Sofar I've only been able to successfully flash lineage-18.1-20221024-nightly-ginkgo-signed.zip, using the associated recovery, (But with that ROM, the phone-function didnt work with an MMI-code error.) So, at present, I'm again on stockROM, bootloader locked again - unrooted - back to day zero...

You must have the firmware requested by the OP, flashed it if necessary.
See this rom below where everything is explained.

Regrettably, my telephone is now hard-bricked. Recovery and Fastboot modes also not possible, so back to stock-ROM is no longer possible either. Only a flashing screen, and - when trying to enter fastboot mode, only short showings of the word fastboot, but no response in MiFlash. I think that a new phone is unavoidable.
Meanwhile, I've tried to enter EDL mode. Troed various fastboot commands, but no response from the telefone. Ultimately, I've tried to open the backcover (in order to reach the so-called "test points"), but that's easier said than done.
Website
is pretty clear, I know where to find those test points, but I'm lacking a 'heat gun', demonstarted in the youtube film. I tried it with a hairdryer, but that proved ineffective, moreover, the hairdryer stopped working (overheating?). Still need to check a possible fuse in the hardryer. Anyway, I'm awaiting a Redmi Note 11...

But what went wrong in the first place?
The flashing instructions quoted
Flashing Instructions
Clean flash (coming from a different ROM):
• Flash recovery (links above)
• Download ROM from the link above
• Download Magisk v23.0 or newer (optionally)
• Reboot to recovery
• Format data (if encrypted)
• Wipe system, vendor, cache, dalvik, data
• Flash latest android 11 global stable firmware (link above)
• Flash ROM zip
• Reboot and voila!
It mentions "flash recovery". The only method to install TWRP that I know, is through fastboot commands (fastboot flash recovery twrp.img, after having renamed the latest twrp image file), and then "fastboot reboot" while keeping Power + Volume Up pressed.
Prior to this, I had placed the firmware-, ROM- and Magisk-files on the phone.
After installing TWRP and Magisk, I wiped cache and Dalvik.
Then, when tried to flash the ROM, apparently that was wiped too. I think that it would have been better to reboot the phone after installation of TWRP and Magisk, then transfer the firmware and rom-files to the phone, and then boot into recovery again.
Anyway, that was not what I did...
Right after installation of TWRP and Magisk, having seen that the files to be flashed, were no longer there, I tried to install the firmware- and ROM-files with 'adb sideload' commands from TWRP. The flashing process seemd to go well, but booting to system proved disastrous...
A 'lesson learned' - at least for me: do not proceed if you - for some reason - can't follow the instructions. but break off, so that you can still reflash the stock-rom!
Sometimes, flashing the firmware with the Twrp does not work and you have to flash the complete rom with Miflash.
For EDL mode you will not have the necessary authorization.
See my PM.

what brick your phone is relocking the bootloader
never do that on a redmi note 8 !
I certainly did not relock the bootloader. After re-installing stock-ROM, unlocking the bootloader was always the first action before doing anything else...

Redmi note 8t(Willow).
Anyway, even if you had done it, it wouldn't have changed anything, except that you would have relocked the bootloader, since this model is intended for the global market with roms, Global, EEA, Russian, no CN roms.
Situation at present (4-11-2022): I have succeeded in opening the telephone in order to make the 'test points' approachable and to disconnect the battery. In the 'device manager', I've seen 'Qualcom' appearing on one of the com-ports. To continue, I now have to await a 24 hours break after too many times of opening my Mi-account during earlier attempts of flashing with the MiFlash tool .
.....
Well, 24 hours later, I've come to the conclusion that my brick definitively remains a brick. Tried again and again, but each time received an error "Cannot receive hello packet. MiFlash is trying to reset status.". And that's it...
Meanwhile, I had the impression that I might have better results with the Qualcomm tool QPST. The telephone - in EDL mode - was observed in QPST Configuration all right, but the flashing with QFIL failed with a consistent error: Unable to read packet header.
I've seen many reported occurrences of this error in various XDA fora, but nowhere a conclusive remedy. I'm out of options now...
Now, I get the information that the file that I want to flash, is too large. If only there could be a smaller file, only to restore the part of the os, through which to activate the fastboot and recoverymodes...
Well, after many tries, searching for solutions for the various Sahara fails that I encountered while using QFIL, I found a solution that really worked:
[GUIDE] How to unbrick RN8 (won't boot only backlight turns on for a second) using EDL
Hi all, after lots of trial & error, I would like to share how I managed to unbrick my Redmi Note 8 original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/need-redmi-note-8-firehose-without-authentication.4031513/ many thanks to dxD7 who provided...
forum.xda-developers.com
I could use the patched firehose file also on an older Global EEA version of the stock-ROM, and then everything worked fine... It took a while, updating the phone to the latest version, but that doesn't matter...
Well... the phone is working again with MIUI Global 12.5.5.0 (RCXEUXM).
Working, but... both IMEI's are null, therefore SIM cards are no longer recognized, which means that I can't use the dial function and can't use a mobile network. WiFi is working.
Moreover, the bootloader is locked again, but I can't unlock it with MiFlash Unlock, because this procedure requires connection via a mobile network. And without an unlocked bootloader, any possibility to root the phone, flash a repaired qcn file (with proper IMEI's), try out custom ROMs or whatever, is blocked...
Any option left? (Fastboot and EDL mode still possible).
Meanwhile, problems are solved to some extent:
Phone is unlocked, stock ROM re-installed, IMEI's are again reading correctly. Only problem remaining: network is not detected, i.e. dial-phone and mobile data not possible. Probably hardware-problem. (Tried all options I could find, but 'no joy'.)
Meanwhile, I have installed an SD card, and that makes all the difference. Tried installing PixelOS and PixelExperience: both installations problemless. Off course, still without dial-phone and mobile data. But, good enough to be confident to install a custom-ROM on my wife's Redmi Note 8T.

How to unlock without connection via a moble network since your phone lost IMEI?
I read every word you typed, and feel the mood you was at,
But in the end, a sad story.
I did flash my phone before I understood every procedure and knew how to fix or recover from it.
luckily things work as I expected.
Thanks God.

Thank you for your sympathetic response.
My answer to your question: Indeed, I don't have connection via a mobile network, and can't use dial-phone, but WiFi is all right.
When I started, trying to flash a custom-ROM, I did so with my experience of some years ago with my former phone: a Google Nexus (maguro) from 2011. Things were so much easier then, no data-encryption or whatever. As said earlier, the turning point was when I placed a cheap 32GB SD-card in my Redmi Note 8T. Now I could place all the necessary files on that SD card, which made the flashing (with OrangeFox) much easier. So, I'm not sad... The moment, my phone got hard-bricked, I bought a new phone (Redmi Note 11) for daily use. And then started learning: how to open the phone, where to find the "test points", how to get the EDL mode working, how to restore stock-ROM via EDL mode, how to restore IMEI's etc. etc. I have learned a lot, and every step was a question of try - retry - retry differently - retry again etc. But the ultimate success (with the exception of the "no network" problem, for which I couldn't find a solution) is quite rewarding. Of course, it took quite some time, but time is no problem for me. I'm retired a long time ago (I'm almost 80), so "it keeps me off the streets"...

WoW, It is boomshell, Now I do know what is "One is never too old to learn".
Thanks ever so much for your reply.
I had lineage19.1 working and a respective custom recovery with it. That was cool. Then I got dumb...
I proceeded to flash the new custom recovery for lineage-20.0-20230103-recovery-lemonadep.img. I am still not sure if the recovery needs updates or how to do so anyway. Can I still upgrade to version 20.0 with a recovery from 19.1? Regardless I am stuck in fastboot loop.
I am lost. I can't get to recovery mode anymore. How do I check things and see what to do next?
Hi.
I have been looking into lemonadep a bit lately.
I found a (renewed) 9 Pro a few days ago.
Should be here by the end of the week and I test more then.
Might want to ask your question in the LOS 20 thread.

I suppose you are about to flash lineage20,
if so, search "payload-dumper" tool
from the rom's payload.bin extract dtbo, vendor_boot and boot img files, flash them to the related partitions, and your phone should be ready to load the new rom via sideloading it
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I have lost track of my own efforts here. Basically I'm right where I left off, with a little less battery. I am now onto the process of using MSM tool from this place. I get things started and then I reach "param preload failed" under the status, in the MSM tool. Is there any hope? I get scared when reading this disclaimer...
"If you modified any partition not touched by MSM, namely param and persist but there are others, you face a possibility of a hard brick. MSM will reset your "Enable OEM Unlocking" in dev settings and you might get a corrupt boot. Restore your backups before attempting. That said, If all you just tried to convert a ROM using OTA payload.bin, you should be fine."
...because yea I'm a curious kitty. I think I was messing in just about everything dangerous that I could... I still have a bootloader screen, thats fun to play with... I've got the right driver from qualcomm and it says the proper "QDloader 9008." But still no dice with MSM.
Is MSM the only option? I found this other OEM reFlash tutorial. I have questions tho...
Step 4: Gives me a prompt that says "Server Busy" "This action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose 'Switch To' to activate the busy program and correct the problem."
I'm gonna stop running through the dark and hope someone can be my savior. A wing and a prayer.
What phone you got tmo, global EU?
I always assumed it was the global version. Bought it in the USA. Model LE2125
Host Machine is a Legion 7 16ACHg6.
Perhaps "New generation USB 3.0/3.1 ports may not allow the QPST tool to recognize your phone and could also cause problems during the flashing process."
Q1. Would there be a way to test and verify this possibility with my current machine? I am using the factory "red" usb-c cable.
Q2. How to verify no other drivers are causing issues simultaneously. (I went through quite a number of drivers before this)
Alas, my previous question regarding this "alternative MSM tutorial" and what the Server Busy means, should take precedence I think.
I am new to XDA and the android community and I truly love and thank you all. There is so much here and so much more opportunity. Thanks again.
