What a hell going on with the battery after the update??
2hours sot???
Are you got crasy samsung?!
We are talking now days on 7-8 hours sot, you gave us 2 hours??
Goodbye Zf4
Hello Honor magic vs/Oppo find n2
Bye, no one care.
I find that as Samsung doesn't have any competition with the Foldables, they are a bit slack sometimes.
If the Vivo X fold 2 becomes available globally, that will probably be my next phone.
Seriously, the thin candybar for the outer screen is ludicrous, it is useless when I need to type on it and is only really a quick view screen.
I have the Vivo X fold, battery after a solid day of use is still over 65%, the outer screen is larger which makes it easier to use unfolded (think S22 size screen) and, aside from the fact it has a lot of Chinese settings that restrict it, the software is fairly usable...
My Fold 4 sit's in my pocket without being touched and it chews through the battery.
I find I have to unfold it most of the time and that crease, WOW!!
The X fold crease is so much better and the phone sits flatter and thinner. There are pens (styluses) that you can use on it too and there is a noticeable difference when writing/drawing on the X fold.
Hoping some of these other foldables come out soon so Samsung has to up their game and improve their hardware.
The battery performance is indeed terrible in the UI5, but it was not remarkable prior to that either. My phone drains around 4%-5% overnight but once I start using it the battery drains significantly faster. All the battery monitoring apps I have tried suggest that the battery is in a good condition. I have tried putting almost all the apps to deep sleep but that does not do much.

What's about IP rating? Better hinge with support Flex Mode? Software that really makes use of foldable device?

I find most devices, whether advertised or not, are water resistant both have had no issue with dust (but then again I'm not grabbing a handful of dirt and mashing into the mechanisms either).
The hinge on the X fold is buttery smooth and there is a mode like flex mode too (though locked to the stock Chinese apps that come pre-installed).
The software is where you get more value with Samsung but as more people use other foldable devices the software will improve too (especially as Google dishes out more support for foldable devices).
While not totally on par with Samsung the X Fold does have an enjoyable OS experience, there aren't too many quirks and there are some apps I miss but for the most part it holds it's own.
And yes, I have both devices to compare.

So Fold from Samsung is still better?
In all honesty, the X fold hardware, I feel, is better, outside screen is larger, the internal screen has a MUCH smaller crease and the phone when folded is flatter.
The Chinese only firmware is what really trips it up.
If they produce the X fold with a Global ROM I would definitely have a go at it over Samsung.
The Fold 4 camera only just got an upgrade (and still is lagging behind over other Samsung flagship phones) but the X fold came out with better camera 1st (remember, the X fold was released 4 months before the Z fold 4).
You can see the specs her for the X fold - https://www.gsmarena.com/vivo_x_fold-11460.php
and here for the Z Fold 4 - https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_z_fold4-11737.php
The X fold, spec for spec, holds it's own. Hopefully it is released globally as it might give Samsung the push to improve the Z fold line...

Hi,
I am confused between S7 Active and S7 with Exynos processor. Would really like to know what you guys think. These are some points that have kept me in this limbo:
1. Scratches and Scuffs: Plan to use this phone for atleast 2 years but I am afraid S7A will look really bad if I drop it multiple times as the outer material on S7A can be scuffed. I would rather put a good protective case on the regular S7 and change the case if it becomes unusable.
2. Batteries: One of the main reasons why S7A is popular is because of its huge battery (4000mAh compared to the S7's 3000mAh). However, I read in multiple blogs that S7 Exynos battery life is significantly better than the S7 with Snapdragon. Since S7A is only with Snapdragon, would like to know how it compares to S7 with Exynos.
3. Cost: I am able to find a new S7 with exynos for $550 on Amazon where as S7A is $800.
I am sure this question is relevant for those who are looking to buy an S7A. TIA.
1: It's a rugged phone in most respects, the IP68 rating ensures the dust and water-resistance (not water-proof as so many people get wrong) will keep it working in some environments where other devices might just cough up a dustball literally and die when dunked. There are cases for the Active which make it even bulkier but some aren't so bad - SUPCASE once again makes their Unicorn Beetle case and they're very useful overall. I'd get one for my GS7A but I like the camo green look to it and they aren't making a yellow/black Beetle case so that's that.
As for scuffs and scratches, it's bound to happen if you actually make use of the device in various environments but that will happen to any device - think of the Active as an S7 with a few extra features and a built-in case, if you will.
2) The 4000 mAh battery in the Active consistently gives me 2+ days of battery life since I've had it and that's about 2 weeks now. I typically get at least 2 days and some hours before it gets to the 2-3% point and that's with screen brightness about 40-45% most of the time (if I'm outdoors I just set it for Auto brightness so I don't have to fiddle with it as I'm moving from place to place). Screen on time has been averaging about 6.5-8 hours depending on usage for me.
I only use cellular service when I'm out and about moving around but if I'm within range of actual Wi-Fi service that works I have Tasker set to disconnect and switch over - at home I don't use cellular at all. For the record I barely use my cellular service to be honest, I never give out my carrier number and I use Google Voice for all phone calls and SMS usage. Only 2 people know my carrier number, my Wife and a family member in case of emergencies and that's it (well my carrier knows it of course but they don't have any reasons to call me).
I have zero complaints about the battery life, so that's my position on it, and of course it's a Snapdragon 820 which is damned fast. I have an LG G Flex 2 (Wife uses it) and it's a Snapdragon 810 and the best Antutu score I've had on it running pretty cold to start was about 92K - I tested the Active the other day and got just shy of 142K which is damned impressive to me. So considering the Snapdragon 810 is an 8-core device (big.LITTLE) and the Snapdragon 820 is a 4-core device (still big.LITTLE) Qualcomm made some rather outstanding architecture changes to have such a remarkably higher score with half the number of cores is stunning.
My usage is not typical, mind you, with me not using cellular 24/7; I only use it when actually needed aka not connected to Wi-Fi someplace. Other people will have vastly different experiences and battery life so again, I don't consider my usage typical in any respects. I made a thread here talking about the battery life I've been achieving:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-active/how-to/battery-life-simply-amazing-t3469942
3) Yes the Exynos can be found for less and the GS7A is obviously carrier locked to AT&T as the only seller but it can be unlocked for GSM carriers worldwide after purchase (especially if you buy it outright you can get the unlock code the same day from AT&T). The Exynos models are also the only ones that have root right now iirc, I might be wrong on that but I think I'm correct. And there are some custom ROMs out as well but I might be wrong on that one too - I don't do much poking around in the Galaxy S7 forum here since I know the Active will more than likely never get root or custom ROMs, it's just not a popular device overall.
Having said that if I had to choose for myself I'd still get the Active but that's just me. I prefer it over typical "consumer" models meaning the pretty shiny glossy slick slippery S7 models including the Exynos-based ones. I don't care about 8 freakin' cores - on the G Flex 2 my Wife is using I have it rooted and use EX Kernel Manager to enforce a quad core setup (2 big cores, 2 LITTLE cores) and she gets damned impressive battery life - not nearly what I can get with the Active but even so, it lasts much longer than having all 8 cores enabled.
Yes there's a price premium on the Active but I personally think it's worth it. Be aware that the GS7A does have Gorilla Glass 4 but the actual part you touch to use it is a polycarbonate layer on top of the GG4 that protects it and helps increase the shatter-resistance. Because that top layer is not Gorilla Glass 4 itself it is more prone to scratching but Samsung does offer replacements if necessary. My advice: if you do get the GS7A, get a nice screen protector of some kind for it whether you get something made from a plastic composite or whatever or tempered glass and it'll protect the polycarbonate later.
Basic gist for me: I don't care about the looks of the device, really. The G Flex 2 has a damaged glass surface to it, actual pieces of glass are missing in the lower left hand corner but the digitizer still works 100% and my Wife has zero issues using it. It has a few cracks in it too but the damage is almost entirely contained in the lower left hand corner and not directly over the IPS LCD panel itself so, just a crack or two that stretches from one corner to the other but you really have to be looking for it to notice it.
The Active is a damned fine device but if the price is too much for what it offers, grab the Exynos and he happy I guess.
The S7 Active was built for basically rugged and outdoor use, its battery is greatly increased from 3000mAh to 4000mAh. Reports have indicated it can last you 2 days of moderate-heavy use easily.
Samsung also claims it can survive drops of up to 5 Feet without the glass shattering or anything. The sides and corners are also thicker to safeguard from drops as most accidental drops hit the sides or the corners of the phone.
The back has also been changed to somewhat of a textured plastic obviously to aid in the phone's strengthened outer covering.
Buttons have been replaced by capacitive buttons and the fingerprint sensor/home button is retained.
Overall if you really want a rugged phone without a case, something that you can take anywhere and you know it can withstand the elements the S7 Active is for you. But mind you it comes with ALOT of pre-installed bloatware.
An alternative/cheaper option would just be to just get the S7 Exynos, purchase something like an Otterbox Defender and one of those IP68 Rated Powerbanks and you'd essentially have the "feel" of a rugged device. This option is if you want more customization options, as the Exynos variant of the S7 is the only unlockable variant. ( Root and Custom Roms/Kernels etc. )
Either way, they're both great devices and it all boils down to what would you use it for. Good Luck
Just noted I crossed another day of use - I really do love this phone so far.
The only thing I can complain about (if even that) is the Camera seems to take a lot of energy which is somewhat interesting. I spent some time outside taking photos (with Auto brightness on) and it was damned sunny here in Las Vegas yesterday so I was expecting the display to use more power but that wasn't the case: in the first hour of using the GS7A for photo snapping I noted that the Camera accounted for roughly 45% of the battery used during that 1st hour - the screen came in at like 15% even with full brightness outside. Kinda weird and I wonder if that's something a software upgrade might help with but even so, this camera does seem to hit the battery pretty hard when it's in use. The area by the Power/Sleep button gets quite warm when the Camera is in operation as well.
But I still love the battery life, absolutely.
this is something noone else has thought of either because it's a very stupid idea or because noone wanted it or thought about it, but i thought i could try any way, this app disables the edge display on the galaxy note 10, it disables it both visually and physically, touch will be completely disabled, i plan on having button shortcuts added too so you can launch the camera for example like a shutter button, this is a very niche idea that i doubt will be of interest to anyone, i am considering releasing it just as an experiment though, i made this thread to see what interest it gets in order to know if i should release it or not, my way of thinking when it comes to apps is just different, i don't like curves i don't like edge displays hence why i tried to get rid of it both for design and for the picture being distorted by the curve, theres ofcourse bugs associated with this, as the screen is meant to reach to the edge text or buttons can be difficult or impossible to press, so yeah a very niche idea but honestly it's growing on me to the point of the phone looking strange when i disable the app, it completely changes the look of the phone makes it almost unrecognizable like a note 9 with a flat display
Wasn't able to add a picture
It sounds interesting, I will try it if you release it
It really is growing on me

thank you i may actually do that at first i thought it was a stupid idea everyone would hate but it's growing on me see the last picture i posted it's not ugly.
Good luck for you. But just curious why you bought this phone if you don't like curve screen.
Your idea is basically making a think bezel at the side.
Regarding accidently touching, Samsung already made an app called Edge Touch, which can customize area that immune to touch.

well theres no new phone without an edge display, theres two things i hate with new phones, edge displays and curved display corners, i just want a square flat display but thats pretty much if not impossible, i bought the note 10+ because it looks similar to a sony xperia with thin bezels, i only bought the note 10+ because it has a boxy design something that appeals to me, otherwise i would never buy it if it looked like a galaxy s10 i wouldn't even look in it's direction, i just tolerated the edge display but i never wanted it it ruins the phone the curved display corners ruins it too these are things that makes me want to send it back and buy a sony again but sony has curved displaycorners too which i hate so much i ended up sending the xperia 1 back as i could not stand those corners, the bezels on a xperia 1 or 5 are also uneven thicker at the top than the bottom which i can't stand i am also not a big fan of the 21:9 aspectratio which leaves practically no phone left, all phones look exactly the same the one plus 7 looks like a galaxy, the rog phone looks like a galaxy with thin bezels and ridiculous back, what i wouldn't pay for a sony xperia xz1 same metal build and design with an oled panel and bezels as thin as the note 10+ i would pay 1500 or more for that for that as i find myself wanting to go back to my xz1, the note 10+ is not good enough for that cost but it's very very close, the design makes me incredibly biased towards it, i also don't like how warm the display is even at the colest possible setting every time i look at the xz1 i just prefer the display more, i know about that app i use it myself, this app was meant to also remove the edge display visually.

s10e is way too round so i can't get that one
mi6t too round
oneplus 7 too round and a notch
what i require from a anew phone
1.boxy design like the note 10+ (anything rounder than the note 10+ and i won't even consider it i got the huawei mate 10 pro and it's nice but too round but i still got it as i knew flat square displays were a dying breed)
2.square flat display with no rounded screen corners
these are two things that simply do not exist in a new phone apart from the razer phone but that one has giant bezels and no oled, for some reason they are that rare the xperia 1 and 5 is as close as i can get, xperia 1 and 5 and note 10+ are the only phones for my taste theres nothing else i've looked everywhere it just doesn't exist it seems people are obsessed with round phones why i don't know, it's like i am an alien when it comes to smartphone design taste, i just don't understand why people want a curved display and when they say anything bad about it it's that it's pretty but not practical, i neither want it for the look or for it's feel.

I'm not obsessed and think that the wrong term, The edge Display (Agreed not practical) as in its functionality, however it does aid in the slimmer feel, mainly yes aesthetic, I have the Mate 20 X 5G also, that is a flat Display (7.2" of goodness) but I do appreciate the curve as it looks and yea feels good.
We are all into different things and for an OEM or OEMs to cater for every individual likes or wants (needs) then come on that's just not viable.
You are another level cookie ...... cant imagine there will ever be that device for you, especially now with the waterfall Display and folding phone Era
Not having a good not everyone is comfortable with the curve that's perfectly fine, but it's not going to change with Samsung, They might evolve the note line into the fold, but as if now the curve is here to stay.
The App is a solution for you and if it makes it a better experience then that's great, for me personally, obviously I bought the Note knowing its curve, so its neither a hindrance or a bother to me....

yeah i will never have the perfect smartphone i actually designed my own because of that
www.facebook.com/symetium/videos/2135545376537234/
did a curved design too this is where a curve is justified and i do like that type of curved design
and the app was not made just for that reason it was also made as a fun test
i use edge touch as that also disables the edge screens , find it within goodlock

Apple is trying really hard to make their phones uglier than the Pixel! Have you seen the new design?
Late reaction but I too want the ability to deactivate the edges of my screen. My reason is that that XServer XSDL used in combination with Linux Deploy will take all the available screen to display and that leads to buttons on the curved edges being almost hidden. I realise this is either very difficult or impossible to achieve and that a simpler solution would be to find/make another XServer application but this can be help in other situations. But since this thread is there I was hoping to check if zzcool or anyone else had a solution.

If you use something like the Zizo Bolt case accidental touches just don't happen.
This phone need a good case or it will be damaged... eventually.
I use the curve portion to house One Handed Operation plus, it works out nicely.
Occasionally I need to rotate into Landscape mode when cut/pasting, more often I do that for lengthening the search bar though.
I like the curved display... after some adjustment.
The square corners is what I really like... rounded corners look hideous.
iPhones look goofy... trix are for kids
Seems like the Vivo X Fold is going to give Samsung competition for the Fold 4.
If I thought I could get the Vivo X Fold to work on my US Carrier - I would give it a shot. Perhaps by the time the Fold 4 is introduced, it might be available in the US and that might push me towards it.
Anyone else here considering getting a Vivo X Fold?
Isn't the Vivo X Fold a re-branded Oppo Find N?
More curious about the Google Fold.

I am looking to sell my fold 3 for the vivo x fold. It's really my ideal hardware. The fold 4 isn't going to really drastically change that much. I really don't want a thinner device I want a more usable front display. right now, that's not happening for the Fold 4. I doubt it'll be the ideal for the fold 5 either.
Having said that I am buying it very VERY soon. Also the Vivo X fold works on every US carrier 5g.
Every. Single. One
I would try the Google fold over the Vivo. I doubt VZW would support Vivo phones.
I'm not sure if any software is gonna be as mature as Samsung's. Add to that the pen support is essential to me so probably no. I'm sticking to the Samsung folds for the time being
Nope. The hopefully Pixel Fold interests me more. I also really like the Oppo Find N

Got mine yesterday.... Bootloader cannot be unlocked, no root available, and no XDA forum for the device, despite request for forum submitted a while ago.... Other than that hardware including screens is amazing - way better than my Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2. Once forum is created, development starts and we get bootloader unlocked - this will be true king of foldables
Also, if you're like me and don't like white colored charging stands - this looks better and works better than original Vivo 50W wireless charger https://www.giztop.com/xiaomi-mi-100w-wireless-charging-stand.html
It charges the phone ridiculously fast
anyone who says no is kinda being disingenuous or is afraid of change. I have went from Samsung to Oneplus, to Huawei and the Now The VIVO X Fold. Its a great phone.... with one.... flaw that I'm working on removing....
For me no Spen support is a no-no. I had 3 Note devices (3,7/fe,10 lite) and can't go back for a device without some stylus support.
What are Vivo like for track record for software updates? One of the major draws for me for the Fold3 is the 3+ years of updates.
Got a ZFold3 ,and going for the ZFold4 , mainly because of the software/customization/root , SPen support and DEX
But also because of the IPX8, and the side mounted fingerprint ( which I like so much )
That vivo X Fold has a nice hardware, but for me is 70/30 software/hardware TBH

youll probably be able to root the vivo x fold first, unless youre getting a Exynos (Lesser processor version) of the device.
So device is in hand (it got delivered early) and these are my initial impressions:
It's larger than the fold and that's evident on the cover screen. It actually feels like a phone rather than a cramped remote control
It feels premium and while people complain it is heavier than the fold 3 I can't feel it that much. The weight is better distributed when the device is closed. Definitely the fold 3 feels lighter when it is open
Materials are super premium. The vegan leather feels nice. But other parts of the device feel seamless as well. Definitely a premium device
Fingerprint sensor is so fast. Day and night compared to the Pixel 6 Pro - actually Google should be ashamed.
You can OEM Unlock the X Fold! I found the option and it is enabled. Now whether or not it is actually enabled is anyone's guess but seeing the option there (and by proxy developer options) is rather great.
Putting my sim in the device I received the error because I'm not in mainland china, 5g won't work. But I suspect strongly my 5g will work. Currently using UK sim (3).
Camera is actually rather good. There's tons of configuration I haven't gone through in totality. But the photos are much closer than you realize. Which is to say on the main sensor Samsung and Vivo are neck and neck. But in zoom and other categories, X Fold demolishes Samsung
Software. It's a lot to take in and absorb. Mainly the keyboard could use some work and the alternatives I haven't found a split keyboard so if anyone knows of one, provide a suggestion.
You can also make the same argument for launchers available. Vivo stock launcher works, but there's a lot of swiping where you expect one action and you get a completely different action. Again it is probably due to using a chinese rom
Similarly, there are some things that don't directly translate when language is set to english. It's an annoyance rather than a frustration but you get what you get. It's not a global rom
Google Now feed I do miss. Again it's the muscle memory I was referring to in point 1
Software is SMOOTH as butter. The fold isn't so smooth and that's an issue directly with Samsung based devices. Which is a shame.
Charging is fast. That is all. It's slightly above the 37 minute claim BUT it's very fast charging.
The crease you can't really see it versus the fold 3 you can see and feel the crease.
Dual SIM! I came from a US variant fold 3 which didn't have dual sim capabilities so seeing that in the x fold is a treat.
Silence rocker! I see you Vivo - great idea.
There's a lot of bloat on the device. There's really no way around it and it'll take time to remove the bloat. I haven't tested rooting the device (yet) but I probably will at some point
There's something really satisfying about the tactile feel of the device and the opening and closing of the device. It's spectacular.
Increasing the speed of animation in developer options are greyed out surprisingly. It is okay but such an odd choice especially since OEM unlocking isn't greyed out
Those are my immediate thoughts. My major annoyances are the lack of split keyboard from third party alternatives and at the moment a launcher. HOWEVER if the bootloader can be unlocked (and at least I see OEM unlock there...) we could have some very fascinating options with any luck
Edit
Googling yielded a ton of options. By default the font is rather big - decrease the font size and that's one huge pain point taken away. You can also have an app launcher too rather than the nano shortcuts that is on default.
Slowly getting through the os and finding it actually pleasing. There's some software concerns with third party apps but I would say this is SUPER EXCITING

This is really insightful - thanks!
I saw videos on YouTube also showing "no crease". But, when I got my Fold3 the creases was hardly there as well. It tends to increase in size the more the device is used. I would be interested in to get update on this as your device ages.
But, thanks again for this.

On the Fold 3, I use SwiftKey and have it set to a split keyboard. I've been using SwiftKey for a super long time. Only thing is you can't have a different setup on the front screen, so it'll be split on the front, too. Not an issue for me since I don't really use the front screen except to respond to med reminders and start a new mode on my Apollo Neuro (anxiety device) and phone calls.

When I received my fold 3 day one I saw the crease. By day 3 it was a bit of an eye sore. And I rationalized it was a tradeoff due to the technical limitations available. However, it was something that bugged me. Immensely.
Having said that I see the construction of the hinge is a bit different almost taking their cues from oppo and Samsung to have a cohesive solution. More likely than not there will be another crease - it's just a matter of time. But one day is a bit too quick for me
Regarding the crease, do you leave the phone (any foldable) closed or opened during the night?
I have found that leaving the device open during the night decreases the crease quite a lot.
Also, do the same while charging. The device heats up during charging and the plastic screen also heats up.
Does Google pay work? I'm in the UK to and been considering one of these
So we are starting to see leaks for the Fold 5, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 renders show off svelte design and new rumored hinge and for the Pixel Fold, Google Pixel Fold: Pricing, rumors, and everything you need to know

It depends if one or both of them can be OEM unlocked.
FOLD 5 has no advantage over my FOLD 4...waiting for tri foldable FOLD 6 instead....
First generation Pixel Fold could be as buggy as a Rain Forest!
Not to mention the Pixel smaller screen sizes is a negative for me....
It depends on what Samsung give me for preorder and old device
$1000 trade-in for my ZFold3, that's why I upgraded to the 4, might do the same if similar for getting the 5. However, if the 6 is going to be a design overhaul, I might just wait.
From the leaks it's a pass for me. Only reason I'll change my Fold4 is if the Spen gets its internal housing. Otherwise I'm quite happy with it
Really depends on the trade in deals with Samsung if like last year in the UK they give £750 for the Fold 3 +£100 gift voucher so £850 for the fold 3 plus they give the note pack and the buds 2 pro free
Samsung speeds up development of tri-folding phone with new patent
Samsung is the pioneer of foldable smartphones. It is the only firm that has been consistently selling foldable smartphones globally ...
www.sammobile.com
This is what I am waiting for !!!!!!!
I got the Fold 4 because of the lack of other options, however this seems be changing now. I dislike the narrow candybar form factor of the Fold lineup. It is too hard to use as a normal phone and honestly, unfolded it's too large to be used as a phone. I have the Vivo V fold and the size of the outside screen is soooo much better, only problem is it's a China only release, same with the Oppo Find N,.
The S pen is a great little gadget however there ae alternatives for all other phones.
Now others are hitting the market it might be time to change brands....
I hope Samsung are watching this closely as it WILL impact their market share.
Update: Google announces Pixel Fold ahead of I/O
I am not seeing the inner screen crease like Samsung? Maybe they photo shopped it out.

Have you noticed that there is almost a year difference between Fold 4 and Pixel Fold? Fold 5 will also have a new hinge.

Again, both the Oppo Find N and Vivo V Fold have MINIMAL creases, so much so it is barely felt at all. These are 1st release devices and are so much easier to write on. It is a year on and still the crease, or lack thereof, surprises me every time I use it.
Samsung should be ashamed of the Grand Canyon crease they seem to keep giving us.

But those devices doesn't have water resistance. Samsung made the decision to add a IPX8 rating whereas the competition decided against it.
Whether a device is water resistant or not, isn't a deal breaker for me. I've never dropped a device in water, not saying it couldn't happen. If a device is kind of splash-proof, can live with that in case of rain. Is the Google foldable water resistant?

sticking to my fold 4 but just adding in my 2 cents.
still considered a rumour until the official specs come out but this website seems to indicate water resistance. if you'll scroll down you'll come across:
According to Blass’s leak, the Pixel Fold will be 5.5 inches tall, 3.1 inches wide, and 0.5 inches thick when folded. When unfolded, it will be 5.5 by 6.2 by 0.2 inches. The total weight will be 283 grams. The Pixel Fold will have IPX8 water resistance, USB-C 3.2 gen 2, and more.
website: https://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/google-pixel-fold-price-release-date-specs-news-rumors/
which now opens another can of worms regarding the weight. fold 4's weight is 263g and supposedly the fold 5 will be even lighter.
https://www.xda-developers.com/google-pixel-fold-launch/
Guess I'll have to see it in person somewhere next month and make up my mind.
IMHO, Samsung seems hesitant to step up their game in the foldable arena.
Pixel FOLD is no competition for SAMSUNG Z FOLD series...the SPen alone gives SAMSUNG the win every time for me....just wait til the Z FOLD 6 tri foldable...that will be what I upgrade from the Z FOLD 4 to next..Z FOLD 5 has no advantage over the Fold 4...

How do you know if 5 hasn't released yet?
My 2 cents on Samsung's foldables. I would say I've been intrigued looking at the foldables by Xiaomi, Huewei, Otto, Google and Vivo.....they look nice, even the crease looks less visible than Samsung's, but they miss on some things, I forget which one, but doesn't have 5G, another can't do MMS, may or may not be water resistant, camera not as good, etc. Although Samsung could get better and will, no need to jump ship as yet. I was looking hard into the Vivo X Fold2 and thought about getting it, but takes some tweaks and other things to try and get it to work well. I will probably keep my ZFold4 until the 6.
Hi everyone.
I am still user Fold 2 from 2 years, before was N9>N20U. Previous year I bought S22U which from 7 months now my girlfriend have and I back to my Fold 2.
I was happy with him but want try again back to Note sereis with S23U.
This is great device, excellent battery life, cameras but from 7 days back to F2 for fun (still good power with S865+ and not bad battery life for me) and back again to S23U is hard. Foldable screen is great feature which I use with pleasure.
S pen use from time to time. I know about s pen and case for it to F4 but I don't have experience with convenience this solution - especially carry in jeans pocket this brick.
Now I don't know what will can do... Wait to 2024 after Fold 5 for good come on the market?
It's hard to me sell only 2 months old S23U.
Or maybe don't tired with s23u and replace it for F4?
F2 cover screen is narrow but F4 have little wider and easy use with one hand.
Maybe is here user above both devices and can advice me?
Wait, just in case.
Depends on your local price? I got the Fold4 three weeks ago. Not because I think it is the better device, but because I got it at 50% the price and I highly doubt the new stuff in Fold5 will make it worth double.

In guarantee shops still almost 3/4 start price for new and 2/3 for outlet so still high in my country like Poland.
My fold 2 2 years ago bought for 55% start price for new.
So thanks for advice. Maybe when I found discount similar to situation with F2, then worth buy it but if not, so easy wait for coming to market F5
Yeah. And perhaps even check out the pixel fold being presented on wednesday? The wider front screen seems nice

Yes, good proposal. Unfortunately Pixel fold mybe is intersting but it's not for me because this is first fold from pixel and like usually will be a lot of bugs in for example construction or software.
I need device for work so need rely in my device in every situation.
Moreover I very like samsung Ui, which is for me very intuitive. I had Pixel 4XL and after almost 2 years I don't get used clean android. My last clean was Nexus 4 (but I liked this) and next only Galaxy Note series for today.
In pixel fold front screen looks nice but interal have very thick frames and not look good.
And what most important in Poland pixel series isn't official accessible so are issues with purchase and respect guarantee.
We had issues with Nexus/Pixels not being here in Denmark officially too, for a very long time.
I have used iPhone since 2008, but have had Samsung mobiles at the same time too, ever since Note 1 was released. Didnt enjoy the tiny 3.5” of the iPhones and that is about the same reason I have a Fold now. Apple is just doing everything they can to save money, by selling antiquated hardware…
At some point Samsung decided that Denmark didnt need the Note series anymore, so I more or less stopped buying from them.
My number one issue with Fold4 is the narrow front screen, and that it for that reason unfolds to a square, instead of landscape. But very nice device, besides from that. And yes, I actually think they made the right choice with the cam underneeth the inner screen. Neither screen nor cam is perfect, but a good compromise.
Think you could be right, that first gen folding from Google could have issues. Good point.
I'll be honest. I had the zfold 4 and then tried out the S23U for a couple months. Only two things I loved were the camera setup and the screen size (quite different than the ZF4 outer screen), but overall, I went back to the ZF4 as it provides a better work tool I got quite used to the form factor and the inside display is a treat to use once you learn all the tricks
Thanks for replies. I like S23U, this is great device but overall is booring.
Fold series give me more fun and look difference compare to other devices.
Now I looking for good pricing F4 and still wait for F5.
I need for daily use 2 simcard and sometimes swap my private simcard to old F2 which still have.
I consider buy F3 because is for good price in my country but shapes, especially front screen are very similar to my F2. Only difference is S Pen support and this is too little
I have a F4. Im with Fold since F2. Meanwhile I have tried a couple of ..Pro and ...Ultra devices but like you said all they become boring to me for a couple of days in use. And more important - super uncomfortable because I carry my phone always in the pants pocket. For me the comfort of use is more important than all. Fold is a Transformer. Stage 1 - one hand super friendly. Stage 2 - mutimedia and multitasking beast like no other. I think I cant go back to a bar phone. I have tried with the bests on the market but no chance.
I have both the ZF4 and S23U. The S23U is totally boring next to the ZF4 other than the cameras (which is the only reason I have/keep the S23U). Also, the S23U is super wide and not comfortable to hold (if you have "normal" hands). Even though the S23U has the SD 8 Gen 2, you don't really notice the difference in day to day use. So, ZF4 remains my daily driver, I'm not planning to get the ZF5. If you can swing it, you'll probably be able to trade the S23U for a ZF5 at a great value. Otherwise, get a deeply discounted ZF4 and sell your S23U.
