Question Sideactions functionality broken after recent update - Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G

SideActions, the useful app for assigning custom actions to the volume and power buttons, has stopped working for me since updating my A52S a couple of days ago.
Is there an alternative available? Sideactions was great because it didn't require root.

soft keys not working

Hey all.
I just got a Galaxy S. the soft keys do not function although i know they're active. I mean they light up and give the haptic feedback too but don't execute.
Is there any app to simulate the menu and back buttons that could reside in notification drawer or launched within an app with double tap of the home button? (like power strip or quickdesk)?
if there's a programmer out there, a lot of people are facing similar issues so please develop something.
Mine is 4 month old and just stoped working this morning.its really hard to use!!
Try going on stock firmware and do a touchkey firmware update through sgs tools.

[Q] Random headset button response

Hi there.
My GT-N7105, still running the original 4.1.2 ROM, has started answering with random and unwanted actions to the headset button.
Since 2011 I've been using an app called Headset Button Control on this and my previous phone: with the app the response was play/pause for single clock, next track for double click, previous track for triple click and volume control for long press.
A pair of weeks ago the problem appeared.
It seems not to be cause by Headset Button Controller because nothing changes uninstalling it.
I've been trying to block all players and apps potentially involved in the button usage (except android's default apps) with Titanium Backup, nothing changes.
No way with other button control apps, nothing works.
It seems there's some software capturing button commands with the highest priority, but I have no recently installed apps.
Any click I do there's no response or there's a volume increase or decrease, randomly.
Anybody experiencing this problem, too?
Any suggestions?
Thanks and best regards.

I have same ROM same version I also use Headset Button Controller and I have never experienced your issue
What button actions are taken over? Click, double click, long press? When I first used HBC I could not use long press actions due to Android's "Google Now" limitation. I got around this by editing keylayout files under /system/usr/keylayout/General.kl. See this guide: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2219624 Basically you need to switch keycodes 226 and 163. The guide tells you to switch the flags, it's much easier to just switch the numbers.
That's all I can say at the moment, until you further describe what's being overrided.
Hope this helps,
Hi there.
Well, all actions are taken over: single, double and triple click.
Thanks!

Try doing the keylayout switching I mentioned above. There's a good chance this might fix all your issues. Just remember that in Headset Button Controller you have to assign all your actions to the *right* headset button, not center. This is how you override the long-press Google Search, not sure how you did that already, but. The reason is because by switching it to the right you will probably workaround whatever app is overriding the center button.
If this works please say thanks, :good:

Volume Rocker to wake up the phone

Hey guys, 3 years and my captivate glide is still going strong.
However the power button ceased to work a few days ago. I heard CM10 has a feature built in to wake the phone on volume button press, but I can't seem to find it.
I'm currently running Android 4.3.1 with bubors CM10.2 rom.
So is there any known method to activate this feature or if it doesn't exist in this CM branch, has some other rom implemented it?
I'm aware of the Play Store Apps, that do the same thing, but they also suck a lot of juice from the battery.
Thanks in advance for any help.

My development Glide has the same probs. I use a small alias at the command line which is opening up the power menu.. it's also working over adb which is enough for me. So the question is would it be possible to execute a command when pressing a special key? I never tested that.. atm I have no access to my pc but if you like I can paste the cmd here when I'm back at my pc again
-----
Sent from my SGH-I927 using XDA Android mobile app
you can add this feature to anykey by edditing the system/usr/keylayout/stmpe_keypad.kl using a text editor and adding wake next to the input key .. be adviced and be careful doing this as it can brick so IN THAT CASE create a backup of the file and keep it saved if your using twrp you can replace the modified .kl fie if bricked .
Also you can add features to other keys such as at key 126 change it to
key 126 CTRL_LEFT to have your voicekey function as a control key (as in windows) and you can make that key 'wake' so that it can wake up your phone.
USEFULLNESS : you can use ctrol commands when using software like teamviewer to alt tab out of applications on windows
Is this possible to do on stock (but rooted) ICS 4.0.4?? It is a rom technically, by i think dman??
My power button does work, but out of habit from my old phone, i am still always pressing the volume button to turn the screen on/check for messages, despite having this phone for over a year (lol).
if its not complicated, id love to have it also have that function.... if its possible.
Handy with a soldering iron?
If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can actually still purchase the replacement buttons. Just google i927 power button, and a dozen of them show up on ebay. A lot of 3 was posted on there (at the time of this writing) for less than $7.

Remap the Camera button

Hi,
I have a rooted 4.6.1 fire phone with Xposed, and I was wondering if it is possible to remap the phone's camera button to another camera application
I have already briefly tried remapping with the additions module, but it didn't recognise the key.
Cheers,
--Fid
I tried some apps (unfortunately they were a bit "old": 2011/'12) which can map buttons to apps, none worked really, except one was promising but I couldn't finish testing because the xxxxxx320 version had some Amazon voodoo going on, I'm not even going into details.
I will go back on 820 and edit this post when I'm done testing. Btw. I guess you saw the threads here on XDA about hardware key mapping, press buttons to run a script (to launch an app), etc.?
edit: "Home2 Shortcut" was unsuccessful. The app is from 2011 and made for Android 2.x. I could select and configure everything I wanted but nothing happened.
Same problem, as seen from CM11
Home2 worked for me, using CM11. Requires a long press, and can't seen to use it as if hoped (as a back button, to let me kill the on-screen buttons) but it's something.
Tried some other older apps, as you mentioned: KeynumberTracker showed key # 358, but the associated ButtonRemapper app doesn't give that as an editable option.

The bixby button state cant be detected directly. Just disable it as advised an youre fine.
is there a way to open bixpy on double click in any way ?
No, but you can access it from homescreen by swiping right.

hmm, i found another solution, set samsung launcher back to "default" for one action, swipe, re-enable bixby button, and use long click for custom action. then move back to nova launcher
Great app, thanks <3
Coming from the S7, I wasn't used to having the extra button on the left and kept activating Bixby by accident.
The instructions for bxActions are straight forward and easy to follow, thanks. I've not got Bixby button for singlepress: flashlight, doublepress: switch ringing profile between loud and silent. I've remapped volume up and down for skipping tracks on double press and play/pause on long press, I might have to get rid of the long press because I never noticed how often I just hold the volume button to turn it up rather than keep pressing it.
I tried remapping the Bixby button with mixed results (S9 dual SIM).
1. No extra permissions: when the screen is unlocked it almost always launch Google Assistant directly without Bixby Home appearing. When the screen is locked, the Bixby Home page appears for a second and then Google Assistant is launched
2. Extra permissions: with the screen unlocked everything works ok, but when the screen in locked Google Assistant doesn't launch anymore, like the button was never remapped.
The only thing I hate about this phone is not being able to do what I want with that button. It drives me nuts. I completely disabled it for the moment.

I had this same issue; a reboot solved it.
running great on my S9+. Thanks!
This is great, I love it! I bought the pro version in the play store to support your work. Being able to hold the button with the screen off to turn the flash on is invaluable.
Everything works great so far, but no matter what I've tried, long pressing the Bixby button either results in Bixby popping up for a short moment before the action I have bound takes over, or if I disable the Bixby Service in Apps, then a notification popup telling me to enable the service pops up shortly before the action takes over.
Single press / Double press work great. But long pressing results in the issue.
Edit: Saw the part under Tips & Tricks. Trying it now.
Edit2: Disabling Bixby Voice in settings does the trick! I'm an idiot.
Meh you have to hook it to a PC to configure. I'll pass

You are awesome! Keep it up, this is amazing, working really great on my S9. Do have problems with deep sleep think, when i haven't touched my phone for a while where it doesn't work. I'd have to test more to be sure of the exact issue. But this app is amazing and I love it! Way worth the cup of coffee
