Any ideas if Samsung finally will update Android on their phones including the new Note 10/10+ fast this year? P30 Pro will have acces to Android Q Beta this September...any news for the Note?
Was a reason i moved away from Samsung phones, i really like the Note 10 + and i really want to purchase it but, can't stand waiting month for the new Android version...
So what you think?
Just get a device you REALLY like, do not waste time thinking about the OS that is the newest

If timely OS updates is high on your priority list, you bought the wrong phone.
I have owned the Note5, Note7, Note8, and Note9. I recall the Note 8 update to Oreo occurred the April after it was released, and the Note9 Pie update occurred in February after it was released (carrier versions, anyway). So you're looking at Q1 2020 for the update.
However, half the time the Android updates contain things that Samsung has already had in their software for a year or two, so... it's not that big a deal. That said, I still am always super excited when it happens (so I get it).
I don't see Samsung getting the Android Q update anytime soon. Huawei is lucky in that sense as they will be releasing the Mate 30 Pro with Android Q running out of box. So it is imminent the P30 Pro will follow.

You are missing Android 10
really if you care about the android updates as soon as possible just go to a Pixel device. on the other hand just buy a phone you like and get the updates when they come, an android update doesn't really change a lot, a lot of what is added to the base android are features that are common among third parties, so for a device from a manufacturer like Samsung all the android update means is you get a bigger number and some of the phones features move from the Samsung UI to base Android.

Not really. We already have dark mode, swipe navigation.
Nothing really excited about Android 10
What I missed the most is the call recorder ability which they removed since android 9. I don't see it coming back in Android 10.

Software is important for EVERYBODY, what I tried to tell you is this: if you like/want a note10 device, it works fine as it is, it will update in due course, if the updates are your most uttmost concern, then a pixel would be the perfect choice for you, it is well known that samsung is never the first to issue updates, knowing this, better get something else
After seeing the YouTube video of One UI 2.0 over Android 10, I can't see anything that exciting. Android 9 (RIP desserts) runs great, and 10 looked like a very incremental update.
Just enjoy your phone you just got it . Q will come orob will get 10 and 11 . Let's get 9 working good before we think of getting 10

You are missing more than that. You are missing the new notifications implementation and battery saving optimisation. A few other added new features. That is why I hate Samsung with their updates. Very slow about 6 months late

there is a reason to change the notifications? they work fine the way they are. as for battery saving, last time they did those my Pixel XLs battery use went terrible.

I had the Pixel 2 XL and when the update came through my battery life improved which was already good but improvement in any department is good.
Why should you come to this forum and complain about Samsung update when you know how they work?
We all know the update will take some time to be available since the moment we buy it. We like this phone not because of the google update that we eventually will get, but because of the features that not available even with latest google update.
You should buy pixel and iphone then. Or huawei.
Exactly
I've only had one recent "need" for an android upgrade(Wireless android auto), just to find out that after we got it that google had restricted the feature to google devices. After 6 months of google claiming it was the Samsung's issue, even though no other brands worked either, they came out with a "beta" that enabled Wireless AA on other devices, no patches from samsung required.
There are so few important updates in Android these days, it's the least of my concerns.
Hello, i just got my A3 2017. I have a few questions, i hope you can answer them.
1) Android version is Oreo 8.0, security 1. december 2018. I want to know if they fixed the bootloop and crash when you use certain wifi's. And if there is any other major fault on this android version.
2) Is there any reason to downgrade to 7.0 or 6.0.1 on this phone ? I dont care about latest version, i just want the version that works best with no problems.
3) Can i use call recorder on this phone and how ? I will not root the phone (have my reasons) and i want only official roms
4) Anything i should know about this phone to get the best experience ?

To start, yes, all issues have been fixed. Now, with these requirements you're pretty much limited to oreo as you can't downgrade to a version with an older bootlader without rooting or using a custom recovery. The oldest build you can flash is the August 2018 one since it shares the same bootloader (Version 3) with the December 2018 one. Now call recording is pretty much dependent on CSC (Country Sales Code). So unless your phone came with a CSC that allows call recording, you'd have to switch to one that does have it, otherwise you'd have to root and flash a package that unlocks all CSC specific features on your existing rom. And lastly, yeah Exynos 7870 isn't that great anymore and even though samsung keeps using it in phones, the RAM and Storage of this phone really kill it, so unless you are going to do basic tasks with frequent maintenance, this phone won't really be your cup of tea.
Thank you for your replies,
Im happy that problems have been fixed and i can remain on 8.0 with no problems. Call recording is probably off but i can live with that. As for speed, there is no worries, i mostly just use it for calls and messages and occasionaly browse a webpage and use google maps. Coming from samsung s5 mini, this should be plenty fast.
I did some testing and using lab501 web browsing simulation with wifi on and screen on normal, battery lasted a whooping 1060 minutes. Coming from s5 mini which lasted about 300 minutes, u can understand how i feel. Also i tested always on screen: in 10.5 hours battery went down 3%. I am still deciding whether to use it or not. Its also a lot faster than my s5 mini, that was basicly the main reason i upgraded phone. s5 mini was otherwise perfect, but it was really slow.
I am wondering about some camera tips. I want to get the most out of camera. How to tweak it ?
Just wanted to say so far i am very happy with my phone. It is snappy enough (obviously with disabled animations and some apps), battery is great. Camera obviously could be better but thats a compromise you have to take. I wish it was a bit smaller, i have to use it with 2 hands often. Its very slippery, i use a "condom" for it but that is also slippery, which is absolutely stupid. I ordered like 6 new "condoms" of different looks and types and hope that 1 of them will make the phone as awesome to hold as s5 mini was. Remember s5 mini back cover is basicly rubber, that phone sticks to your hand ! I have some more questions.
1) how to get the most out of the camera, what settings ?
2) is it possible to remove the back cover and replace it with a rubbery back cover, like s5 mini had ? Or maybe buy some duct tape that would be less slippery and just stick it to the phone ?
Same story every year for the Hong Kong variant! The same thing happened to my SM-G9650 with Android Pie.
Patience young one, it will come and you'll probably get a better initial experience than everyone else.
I'm not too bummed yet because I hear Good Lock hasn't been updated for 10 which would stop me from updating anyway. But once that happens...
I just ordered a N9750 coming from the Oneplus 7 pro which runs 10, not happy

number one for sure would be the gesture navigation - it is absolutely the best, the samsung one is just rubbish. ALso music controller and scribbling through the playing audio directly from the notification shade although im not sure if thats a oneplus feature or android 10. Im sure there will be a lot of other things il miss that i dont know yet!
First versions in major updates always come out with some bugs, For me, It is better to update when all wrinkles have been ironed out

I'm not dying too get it, but I am looking forward to the faster sharing menu, native dark mode and the potential for a Samsung Pay issue I'm having to get resolved. That, and I'm hoping the camera's aggressive noise reduction is itself reduced, lol.

I'd say the average Note10+ buyer is probably fairly interested in the version of Android it's running, yes. They are someone that is probably expecting one of the best Android experiences possible, especially when you consider the cost of the handsets.
Does anybody know if they fixed the ps4 dualshock 4 pairing with Android 10? That's 1 of the reasons of the update I want and gestures.

Are you a Samsung UI launcher person? If so, you're in luck as that's the only launcher the new gestures support.
Yes all I have to do is apply the update. I use this phone mostly for gaming and a few months ago someone posted that the dualshock 4 pairing would be fixed with Android 10 I just want a conformation on that b4 I start downloading. I'm still on release firmware in hopes for root but if I can use my ps4 controller I would gladly update
Is it maybe possible to flash other snapdragon rom on this n9750 version?
Nevermind I gonna sell this peace of garbage

Can the Note 10+ Hong Kong get flashed with stock Android 10 ROM from another region and get it done that way? And what about root? Can it be rooted afterwards again under Android 10 or not?
The truth of the matter is I see zero benefits on an upgrade. Android 9 works flawlessly on my rooted 10 Plus and there isn't anything on Android 10 that I already can't do with my Android 9 firmware. I never quite understand this "upgrade" rush everyone seems to have..
Heck.. I'm still on Android 8 on my Note 8 and everything works flawlessly with all my apps and setting such as on my newer Note 10+. THE ONLY thing about my Note 8 that needs an "upgrade" is the p...e-of-s..t AMOLED display that is burnt in everywhere.. and no firmware will fix that.
Gosh I miss LCDs.. Samsung AMOLED panels ALL last less than a couple months before they start burning in.. all of them.

I also do not understand people who want to move as quickly as possible to a new version of Android, it is better to wait for bug fixes.
if you consider that fixing security vulnerabilities is useless, yes you can stay on android 8

hi everyone
I'm New here and my issue that I have Samsung Note 10+ SM- N975U ...4DTH7 and I noticed that My Phone stuck on Android 10 while other Phones around the world has been updated to Android 12
I tried many times to update my phone but every time it said that I got the last Update. So is there any way to update my phone to Android 11 or 12
thanks for your help
Flash manually with odin there is a thread in the guides section with the files you need
I would leave it on 10 until you get feedback on 12 from other users.
No huge reasons to update from 10... but there may be many valid reasons not too!
I have one that's running 9, one that's on 10; both are fast and very stable. Security is not an issue...
Scoped storage and forced encryption are fully active on 11 and up. These will use more cpu cycles and resources. Scoped storage will also screw up older apps that run fine on 10. All apps need to be compatible with 12 or it can cause system wide issues.
11 runs all apps just fine and 12 is pretty stable as well beeen riung the beta with no issues up grade to 11 and wait for stable 12 to come through ota

So what doesn't work besides most older apps?
SOT is how much worse?
Hey I could be all wrong but I think 11 and 12 are wallowing ducks.
Android 10 wasn't a net wash but I still lost valuable functionality and troubleshooting tools to it. For what?
I'm running 2 N10+'s, one on 9, one on 10. I can easily see what was lost or gained. Goggle gestures is a complete bloody abortion, what a mess. Thankfully Samsung has numerous work around modifications and virtual nav buttons can be used.
Lol, which Galaxy themes work with 12?
Android 12 is puking on the flagship Pixel's... that tell you something?
If you upgrade using OTA you are boned if it upgrades the bootloader version (which it usually does)... no going back.

Advice & expertise needed,
Few questions & hope someone can advise, & help.
Ok, I have had a Note 10+ in the box for awhile & decided to use it, as I forgot about it, actually I thought I lost it during a move a year ago. It has no updates, no security updates & still running Android 11. I took a screenshot of current update info from software updates page in settings.
I noticed during past year updates were released to 12, & T-Mobile platform for note 10+ within last 4 months. Twas hoping I would get an ota update within last 7 weeks, as that is when I turned my device on. I'm more concerned about getting security updates then a UI 12 update. I'm on the T-Mobile platform, SM-N975U1. I took the sim card from my T-Mobile S9 Note & installed it into my UNLOCKED Note 10+ & is working on TMobile without any issues. Splash screen is still splashing the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ not T-Mobile platform if that helps with anything. When I try software updates I get the popup below in SS. Was hoping I would get an OTA update. Any ideas on how to get security updates, or Update to 12 with security? Or am I going to have to flash using SmartSwitch? Or should I just root, or too soon, as I read the note 10+ may be on the list for one or even maybe two more updates? If for sure no chance for updates I would most likely root, but what are your thoughts? I want a secure device, & I don't want to pay $1500 for a $600, then a $800, then a $1000, $1500000 for a inflatisanity device when This note 10+ running max memory, is immaculate, not a scratch & runs fantastic I'd would have been using it 1.5yrs ago if I wouldn't have lost it. Please give me (us) good news as it sleeps with me under my pillow
Thanks guys.. as I'm always grateful

Congratulations. The N10+ is Samsung flagship's at their zenith.
I run 2 N10+'s still loaded with 9 and 10 by choice. Updates/upgrades can and do break things. This one in my hand will be 3 yo in October. It looks and runs like new.
Current OS load is over 2 yo, security is not an issue. Anything from Pie or above is relatively secure if you don't do stupid things.
I recommend you stay on 11.
I see no great benefits to scoped storage and 12 is a mess. I prefer Android 9; more functionality with trusted 3rd party apps.

Your the 2nd person to tell me slowly backup then run from anything above 11. Ok, well I'll stay as is. I run SD maid pro to clean & keep storage out of a mess, & I don't download anything, & don't open emails if not on contact list. I also have note 9 & a Samsung S8 which has a 570 PPI 4k capabilities truly amazing device. I wish my 50" TV looked that clean..I'm so done with LG TVs btw, huge problem with their Chinese WiFi cards, same TV with 6 cards changed out.
Thanks for the advice.. very grateful..

Try this settings mod, blocks adware globally and some blacklisted sites...
I had a scripted malicious jpeg I downloaded about 2 years ago. It damaged files in the download folder but not folders or the files in them when I opened it.
Spotted it right away and deleted it. Some files were repairable and the rest I deleted. No real damage. However if that got into my database on the SD card it wouldn't have been pretty.

I have been using Adguard for ad blocking and tracking on android and also widnows for a long time. It even blocks ads on youtube. The software is very good, but remember that it is Russian soft. Hell can see what data and where it can send it.
