Hello all,
Somebody knows how to compare the embedded Fire OS 7 into this Smart TV with the actual Fire stick devices? Can I use the root/TWRP options the same as 4k devices?
I try to improve the performance of this TV because its very poor factory configuration. I only get better response closing open apps with "Background Apps & Process List" but sometimes I need an extra. Any suggestion?
There's no bootloader unlock / rooting methods for any of the FireTV televisions. Many of the new televisions use a MTK T31 SOC.
I have no idea if it has the same 2 vulnerabilities as the 4k / 3rd gen Sticks. If it did you would still have to modify the exploits to work with your television's bootloader (considerable amount of work).
You're better off using a debloat tool to disable any unnecessary apps. You could also buy a 4k stick, root it and use it as your primary OS, or another TV box.

I bought a used Shield TV on eBay with expiring eBay bucks. It was supposed to "work" but it was far from that. Nvidia was nice enough to send me the missing wall portion of the AC Adapter.
So having this thing for a week I was finally able to get it up and running only to find out that it boots into native Android.
Unless I can track down an APK the media remote doesn't work in it's current state. I've been able to navigate with a USB keyboard.
I've downloaded the files and am ready to return it back to the factory state but want to ask a few questions.
With Android phones rooting and getting a stock experience is important for devices that have too much bloat or no longer receive updates.
What's the benefit of having the Shield TV in this state? What am I gaining and losing?
I know I lose access to the Nvidia games and interface. I wasn't planning on buying their games but am interested in additional punch this device provides for emulation.
Would all of the emulation that Android currently supports have the same performance on a rooted Shield TV in this state as it would running the native OS?
I thought I read somewhere that the 3D acceleration doesn't kick in without the Nvidia software.
If I restore the Shield do I need to just enable apps from outside the Play store to get emulation working or does the Shield TV need to be rooted?
There is no DirecTV Now app for the Shield TV but there is the FireTV APK that people are using. I could give that a try but if I left the Shield TV in it's current state would all of the regular Android APK's work? Meaning the Android DirecTV Now app would work? I wanted to use the Shield with the HD HomeRun app for live TV/DVR and if I leave the Shield in it's current state I'm guessing I'd have to run Kodi for the HD HomeRun to function instead of being able to download the specific app that the Shield TV supports.
Then you have full android.running. Disputen that the sneller did not tell you , it is beter this wat. You now have complete Control of your device. Also GeForce now and alle other optioneel are stille available.
Check out the web for Zullu99 FULL android.
Check if the device is rooted, if so you van install droidmote server on the shield And the droidmote cliƫnt on your cellphone to control the shield.
All aps are possible to install. Not Just android tv apks.
I had read on XDA that you could bypass logging into an Amazon account on a Fire TV Stick by using the remote app and pressing the gear icon on your phone, which would kick the stick directly into the settings menu; the Stick would essentially be just an Android set-top box at that point, which is my goal. But it seems like a recent firmware patched this, as trying to press the gear in the app just makes the TV screen flicker for a minute, then continue to prompt you to log in. Is there a way around this on newer firmwares that anyone has found? I'm just trying to use the Stick locally to do things like stream my Steam games over the same network, and if the Stick is anything like the Fire HD tablets, not associating an Amazon account with it would make it run a ton better. I also just like using things without having to rely on accounts whenever I can, and the Stick seems way more convenient than other Android boxes, so it would be great to be able to do that here. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Skipping the login/setup wouldn't make the stick to an android tv. As you have a FireTV you get FireOS, without playstore/services and other common androidtv things.
If you have the second gen stick named 'tank' you can root the device and get the possibility to install playstore/services, other androidtv launchers, debloating stock apps...
Edit: since yesterday, there is also a lineage rom for tank, link
I have a Fire Stick version 6.2.5.8 ( have been blocking updates for a while). My questions are : If I update to the most recent version of the Fire Stick OS, will I lose any of my customizations/modifications ( Launcher Hijack, changing multiple things with ADB ,etc)? Also, does anyone have a current list of Amazon system apps (bloatware) that can be disabled safely.....the purpose being to improve performance by freeing up memory. Has anyone done this (disabled app and achieved a perceptable performance increase )? The main reason I am considering the OS update, is to get Miracast capability on the Fire Stick ( I am going to attemt to cast from Fire Stick to Roku.....has anyone tried this ? Thanks.
Is there any replacement for the Fire TV Edition integrated Live-TV app? Handling channels there is a chore, and the program guide (EPG) is mediocre at best.
I'm especially interested in having a way to import/export the channel list so that I can edit it on a computer.
If desired I can add more details on the hardware and software used.
Some people seem to of got the Google Live Channels app working, but it wouldn't work on my Cube 2 (Fire OS 7), might be worth trying on Fire OS 6, Android version is too low to use on Fire OS 5.
This is the tutorial I saw with it for 4k stick: https://youtu.be/YV-iCa_T6dE
Hi,
I have few questions as i'm new to smartv android thing.
Is there any possible way to uninstall FireTV default apps without root?
Or is there something like prerooted, debloated FireOS update for all Fire devices avaiable, which can be installed over adb or usb?
Already got working Wolf launcher an update blocker which made nice performace boost. But didn't find any info about unlocking and rooting this device (device product:greta model:AFTEU014) And TV from time to time still gets very slow an needs restart. Could be due to low amount of ram. (Datasheet shows 1GB ext. + 1GB int. DDR3) which makes this stupid question- if it has an external ram, can it be upgraded with ddr3 module? Can't be just that simple?
So no bootloader unlock, no root and no custom os for me either. Can i atleast downgrade FireOS? I'm on 7.2.3.3 (PS7233/1734). I know that Android 9 has good performace, but on low end devices could actually be slower than android 7 (at least on mobile devices).
What are my other options-
1) Getting newer firestick or tvbox with customization possibility? Which would resolve issue but is kinda stupid already owning smarttv and occupies 1 of 3 hdmi ports.
2) Getting a new tv? Not an option.
3) ???
Does Viper4Android FX work on FireTV devices? Or is there another good sound enhancement app?
