Device won't recognize my device when in fastboot - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hi, I cannot get my device recognized when in fastboot for command prompt. My 5T is recognized when booted up on the normal, standard OxygenOS but not when in fastboot. How can I fix this issue? I am using a windows PC with the last OxygenOS version of Android 10. This is making me pull my hair out! Thanks. Sorry for my non native english skills.

You need to install the fastboot drivers too, not just the adb ones.
Google USB driver for fastboot & ADB. Extract all files to the same directory. Right click on android_winusb.inf and select install
And here is a great guide on how to install them. Reboot to fatboot mode, find the yellow exclamation mark in your PC Device Manager and follow the steps in the guide.

Now the phone starts normaly but I can´t start fastboot. When the phone is off and i press Vol down + Power the phone start the android system and the Huawei logo is coming not the fastboot Modus. I can see my phone and the order under Windows but i can not control my phone with the fastboot command. (example: fastboot device. the answere ist searching devices, but it comes no resolution) I loaded the last version of Fastboot, but the problem is the same.
Please can you help me. What can i do? Many thanks for your help!

And when you use adb to reboot to bootloader, what happen? Do you have "Minimal adb and fastboot tool" installed?

Sorry for my question, what´s the differents about adb and fastboot tool? I have install the last version of minimal adb and the fastboot tool, also the Windows driver for the phone. Debugging is on. I try to connect my phone about the fastboot terminal. When i try to set the phone into the bootloader mod with the fastboot terminal and the equivalent command, fastboot say´s "searching phone". My phone does not react.

So, you connect your phone, open minimal adb and fastboot too, run "adb devices", you see device id? If yes, run "adb reboot bootloader" . Phone shoult reboot to fastboot mode. Then run "fastboot devices" to see if it is connected properely.
i did it, like you described, but i see not my device id. Only the note "seach device"
Is it possible that TWRP is defect on my device? Is TWRP necessary for fastboot or only for root?

Here is screenshot from minimal adb...
Phone must be in MTP mode.
And here is phone in fastboot
Many thanks for your help, now I m in my bootloader.
2 problems i had.
1. My daemon was not started correctly, i have not seen my device.
2. I used the wrong command. I started with fastboot, not with the command adb device. I tap „fastboot reboot-bootloader“,but the correct command is “adb reboot-bootlader“
Now i have seen my phone is unlocked, i hope i can root my android 6.

Just reboot to fastboot and flash surdu-petru version of TWRP recovery 3.0.2 with command "fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img". And than reboot to recovery and flash supersu zip.

(help please) htc one m8 not showing in adb command prompt while in fastboot.

so I'm trying to fastboot flash TWRP. That way I can root it after the custom recovery is set up.
My HTC is S-OFF, I installed android studio for the adb fastboot command prompt. Then installed all HTC drivers. I then plugged in my HTC into my pc which is running windows 10 via USB port which are 3.0
I opened up the folder where the fastboot was installed when I downloaded android studio. Then I pushed shift and right clicked and chose open command promp. I then typed: adb devices
The command prompt runs and it shows my HTC in the device list. Then I typed: adb reboot bootloader. It boots to the fastboot.
And so here is my problem........... once I boots to fastboot I thenjoy again type: adb devices. Cmd runs and the device list is blank. I checked my drivers and device in device manager and everything is fine. Even I'm fastboot it reads the drivers no problem.
I've tried everything. I've read to try reinstalling the drivers, try installing universal drivers, try different USB cables, try different USB ports that arent 3.0 port, I even tried a different adb fastboot software and still came up with the same outcome. I've read a bunch of different threads and just can't find anything. I am just stuck I don't know what to do. And am asking for help please. I would really appreciate the help and guidance. Because....... this s**t is driving me crazy haha. I've rooted galaxies and have my s5 on lollipop rooted. But
I'm still a noob and especially with HTC. So please some one lend me a helping head I am at a complete loss.

You're using the wrong command.
You can't use adb commands when booted to bootloader, only while booted to system, as you did the first time.
Once you do adb reboot bootloader use fastboot devices and your phone will show in cmd. You need to use fastboot commands while booted to bootloader.

Im having trouble with fastboot when returning to stock

Hi guys, i want to return to stock (i.e relock my bootloader and install stock oxygenOS) but i cant get my laptop to recognise my op3 whenever i type "fastboot devices" in cmd. Ive tried multiple programmes to install the correct drivers but it just doesnt seem to work.
Has anyone had similar problems or any solutions??
Im currently running windows 10 on my computer
Thanks
Do you have fastboot / adb tools installed and phone is in fastboot mode?
What does it say when typing fastboot devices?
Thanks for the reply, I type fastboot devices and nothing follows just another line to type a command. I'm pretty sure I have adb/fastboot tools installed, I used an installer which was linked on another thread

No. Thats independent of OS
Are you in the fastboot/adb folder, where fastboot.exe is, when typing in cmd?
The mode where you should be is called "bootloader" on the phone.

Yeah that may be the problem, would you mind directing me as to where I can find this fastboot/adb folder so that I can determine if I've even installed it properly haha
Well, if the cmd does not say something like "fastboot was not found", then that might not be the problem.
In which state is the phone, when trying fastboot?
Wrong drivers... Make sure you install the right one. Preferably follow the first few steps of the unbrick guide go get the right ones.. You are probably using the ones by Windows which do not work.

TWRP installed but no OS. Udev problem?

Hi guys!
After years playing around with android roms and devices it looks that i probably brick a device for first time.
I'll try to be brief, but if you need more info it will be a pleasure give it to you.
Now my MI6 have recovery cofface 3.1.1.-0 installed but no os. I can reboot on bootload with keys. The problem is that im unable to push a zip into the device. Commands "adb devices" and "fastboot devices" return no devices founded.
a) OTG: Recovery doesnt allow me to mount USB-OTG. I enter in Mount and when i click over USB-OTG it highlighted but the checkbox still empty.
b)Plug into pc: The phone appears and disappears each second. Tried multiples wires.
Udev not found warning shows up when I click in the device before it disappears.
c) ADB sideload: not working, cause i cant reach MI6 from PC.
I add some stuff i see in logs and could be interesting:
When i use sideload:
Code:
I: cannot find file /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idProduct
I: cannot find file /sys/class/android_usb/android0/idVendor
When is in appear/disappear loop:
Code:
I:[MTP]Mtpserver::run fd: 20
E:[MTP] request read returned -1, errno: 5 , exiting MtpServer::run loop
I tried to recover it from Windows and Linux even from FWUL liveiso but all same results.
Any idea is appreciated, thanks a lot!
PD: Excuse my English Besides not having a good level, I'm tired of being all day trying things

That recovery is ancient. Just use fastboot to flash a stock rom with miflash. Then flash latest twrp.

This is the first roadblock for him.
if fastboot devices can't detect his device, then any fastboot command to flash a partition is also invalid.
Have you tried different machine to do adb devices/ fastboot devices?

Yes, linux and windows. And drivers are OK cause it worked before.
I think when i wiped system the device got corrupted someway. Now if i plug it into debian machine the computer detect the phone one sec., then dissapear other second, appear again... and so on.
My idea was to flash new recovery from otg but recovery didnt mount the device. Im researching for some way to mount it manually but at the moment not success.

I'm assuming it's a driver error. Few years ago i had a mtk smartphone and somehow i managed to hard brick it, PC recognize it just for 2 or 3 seconds and that was because fastboot drivers didn't installed so i had to install it manually from device manager, for mtk drivers name was preload 89xx (driver must be for specific motherboard model number), i opened device manager, boot phone in fastboot mode, connect it to pc and on the short time wen the PC recognize the phone i hited right click and choose update driver manually, i believe it could be possible to do the same thing with mi 6, i don't know if there are separate drivers for fastboot mode to be able to install them.

Fastboot interface is missing. Help!

On Device Manager (Window 10). Were updating the driver, I can only see ADB interface but no Fastboot interface. I'm on the latest version SDK from Google and have OnePlus driver installed. I can command ADB but not fastboot. What am I missing? My device is OnePlus 7T TMobile is sim unlocked and I can toggle OEM unlocking and is on.
Not sure what mean, but fastboot only works when you're booted in bootloader. (Adb reboot bootloader)

That's correct but when I fastboot cmd it get stuck on "waiting for device". So I read around on XDA on how to fix it and I tried to follow the instruction on PC - device manager, still no go.

I reinstalled couple of times. Still no go! This is the first time that this happening. Never had problem since day one on Nexus devices. I'm going to try again and search more around.
You can also use the universal drivers by clockworkmod https://adb.clockworkmod.com/
Here's what I did.
1) Extract the android sdk platform tools and put on your c:// drive
2) Install the universal usb drivers
3) Enable usb debugging on your one plus and connect to computer. Switch to usb debugging mode and accept the popup on your one plus to allow the connection.
4) Open cmd and run "cd C:\platform-tools", then run "adb devices" to ensure that your devices is connected properly
5) Run "reboot bootloader" and device will restart into bootloader mode and fastboot will now work
*This is all assuming that you've already oem unlocked your devices as well already*
It work till fastboot. Still stuck at "waiting for device".

Are you trying to open? Command shell? In windows 10 right? So for your information in windows 10 it's not supported , you have to open that platform tool folder which you installed already named as adb, platform tools , sdk may go into that folder and you will see a folders directory above there .. just click on that and type cmd and hit enter and cmd will pop up now you can use all your commands it's not your fault it's windows 10 fault ..maybe hope it may work for you
That how I done it. Fastboot Command appear on my Google Pixel 2 and 3 but I can't do it on my 7T. I don't get it
Thanks for the help! I tried working on Device Manager on PC yet doesn't work. Adb shell command work but no Fastboot command.
I found the solution! This is what I did and it worked for me! Here's the link for anyone who has the same issue I went through. Here you go and follow the instruction. http://www.wtfandroid.com/fix-fastboot-device-not-recognised-problem/
Mod you can close this thread. Thanks again for everyone who tried to help me. :highfive:
