Question T-Mobile Oneplus 9 Pro: unblocking for EU SIM? - OnePlus 9 Pro

Hello Enthusiasts!
Is there a way to make T-Mobile OnePlus 9Pro (LE2127) work with an EU SIM?
I'm in Ukraine, and I already have T-Mobile Oneplus 7T Pro (McLaren), which started working with my SIM without effort. So that was a surprise when my new Oneplus 9 Pro, which I bought on eBay, rejected connecting to my local cellular network.
Is this problem solvable at all?
The phone is SIM unlocked, now I've also unlocked its bootloader via the official OP website. Perhaps, if I flash a Global EU ROM (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...7-to-eu-via-msm-no-unlock-bin-needed.4272837/), will the phone start seeing my local cellular network? I'm confused by several feedbacks in this thread from guys who have easily bricked their phones by trying to flash this Global EU ROM, so maybe there is no reason to take this risk if it will not solve the problem.
Kind Regards,
Vlad

I don't know of any issues doing MSM to EU firmware.
I've done it dozens of times on my T-Mobile phone that I use on a T-Mobile plan.
I can (and have) go back and forth between EU and T-Mobile MSM all day without any issues.
But please stay the **** away from the India MSM.
I think that's labeled "IU" or "IA" or something with an "I" in the name.
It supposedly will cause unresolvable issues trying to go back to T-Mobile firmware.

If it's sim unlocked, it should not be rejecting connection to your cellular network. Unless the frequency bands used in your area are missing from the modem. That also seems unlikely because the 9P has one of the widest coverages for bands of any OP phone. Maybe try selecting 4g/3g/2g default instead of 5g/4g/3g/2g.
(Settings->Wifi & Network->Sim & Network->Preferred Network Type)
Are you certain it's sim unlocked?
I am also on a tmobile 9P and used the msm->eu with no problem. I've done it a few times without problem going either way. But I don't know if that would solve your issue. Don't forget to back up your modem, persist, and modemst1/2 partitions before flashing the EU rom just in case. It won't hurt anything to flash the EU rom - you will be able to recover if anything goes wrong. And you'll get rid of the ugly ass tmobile branding. But you won't have the SIM unlock built in anymore so be certain your phone is currently PERMANENTLY Sim unlocked or you'll need to flash back to MSM->Tmo to use the built in unlocking app. If you are sure it's already permanently unlocked, give it a go Vlad

Thank you @CZ Eddie , @Appreciative for your answers.
I've validated here that there is definitely not a hardware problem with wireless bands support.
So now I understand that moving to Global ROM will not resolve the issue with "No carrier network". Googling the issue provided two more options:
1) try to switch the radio bands region via the menu in *#*#4636#*#* (the guy here described totally the same issue as I have). That didn't work for me, saying that it cannot switch the region to Europe (as well as to any other option);
2) try to erase modemst1, modemst2, as per the solution described in this video and also in this xda thread, but I'm again at risk of bricking the phone. At least, that was stated in the mentioned previously thread: *** Backup your working modemst1/2 and persist. If you lose these for any reason, it's unique to your device and not recoverable if you didn't back up (via MSM or other people).
Commands:
Take out sim
Bash:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot
Insert sim
Am I right to understand, that I can use MSM to backup modemst1/2, then I could safely recover them back from the backup if my try with the second option doesn't help?

That's supposed to be the case. MSM->F8, select is how I backed mine up.
I have read that if modemst1/2 is erased, it's restored/repaired/rebuilt from efs (or fsg) if available.
I've also read that when trying to restore modemst1/2 that it'll say fail to flash critical partitions and the suggested fix is to fastboot reboot fastboot while in fastboot. I haven't personally tried to restore my modemst1/2

Thank you @Appreciative !
I've hardly managed to put my OP9P to EDL mode and connect to MSM - after plugging in the phone with pressed +-, it was always trying to boot into OS immediately or soon after MSM told me it was connected.
Anyways, during those seconds while my phone was successfully connected to MSM I pressed F8, chose modemst1/2 options, and clicked on the 'Ok', but it asked me to provide a password. Is there any default password for MSM to do the backup, or do I need to ask TMO or OnePlus for it?

The password is oneplus and the files will be saved to C:/

I've managed to do the necessary backups via MSM, and then tried the following:
1) switched with MSM from TMO Android 12 to TMO Android 11 OS (11.2.6.6);
2) switched with MSM from TMO 11.2.6.6 to EU 11.2.2.2 (from the thread regarding the switching from TMO to EU) - here I'm still able to see and trigger "OEM unlock" in "Developer Options", successfully executed "fastboot OEM unlock";
3) applied OTA upgrade from EU 11.2.2.2 to EU 11.2.10.10 - here I see greyed "OEM unlock" in "Developer Options", but still able to successfully execute "fastboot OEM unlock";
4) applied OTA upgrade from EU 11.2.10.10 to Android 12 - here I already see LE2123 in "About phone", instead of LE2127 as before; I still see greyed "OEM unlock" in "Developer Options";
----
Everywhere there I still wasn't able to make my SIM card to be connected to the cellular network even though SIM card itself was successfully detected.
----
5) rolled back it all by switching back to TMO 11.2.6.6 via MSM. I got my bootloader locked and I still see greyed "OEM unlock" in "Developer Options". I've unlocked the bootloader via fastboot and my key file, but still wondering how to get ungreyed "OEM unlock" in "Developer Options". The Network Unlock status is "Permanent unlock".
6) I've tried to fastboot erase modemst1, but it told me that critical partitions were locked, so I cannot do that. I've also not found how to unlock that.
And my SIM is still unrecognized. So I got stuck.
Do you have any ideas?

I can help you with getting the oem unlock toggle, using @Ju5t3nC4s3's tool here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ader-unlock-enabler-engineer-decrypt.4380419/
Although that doesn't solve your problem at all. There is a chance the tmobile variant (or any version I suppose) does not support the network in question at all. It could be missing the bands in the modem or maybe blacklisted on the network? I've read ATT blocks some OP devices from the network. Is it possible the device has a blacklisted imei? What carrier is the sim?

Locked bootloader, no baseband, greyed out OEM unlocking after flashing OCX27.109-36

Hello,
I have a problem with my Z2 Force TMO US version. I live in Poland. I bought the phone on the internet and it was TMO simlocked. I did the temporary unlock to check if it is working. Then I wanted to flash custom rom (DU in this case) and my problems has begun.
1. After first attempt of unlocking boot I got it unlocked but couldn't flash any custom rom. I figured out it is TWRP problem (flashed 3.2.2-2 not 3.2.1.1).
2. Flashed TWRP 3.2.1-1 and I was able to flash custom rom.
3. After flashing custom rom I lost phone signal: I'm getting no service and zero signal bar. I checked *#*#4636#*#* and noticed that I have radio off. I had IMEI and BASEBAND then.
4. I tried many other roms to get my signal back but no success.
5. I flashed stock TMO and was able to unlock simlock temporary again but it has no service and signal again. Radio is off.
6. Today I tried flashing stock OREO OCX27.109-36 with locking bootloader now I'm stuck.
I have locked bootloader and no baseband which means I don't have any signal or WIFI (mac is 0). I can't connect to google account so I can't get oem unlocking option - it's greyed out.
Can somebody help me with enabling OEM unlock? Or even better can somebody help me with getting signal back?
Thanks in advance for reply.
Try flashing the newest TMO firmware, which is the only thing you can flash with a locked bootloader. Check post #2 of the return to stock thread for the flashall utilities and the TMO flashall. The latest firmware provided for TMO is ocx27.109-51-7
You can do it
, I already had this issue with my moto z2 force in Morocco , so what I did is I connected the phone to internet via bluetooth and when I added my google accounte the unlocking oem in dev option was normal , so I was able to flash roms again . Hope this will help you.
Use pdanet app, you need two Android devices. Connect using Bluetooth...
Thank you guys. BT tethering helped. Thread can be closed.
How did you connect to Bluetooth to get through first start up? I can't get to Bluetooth settings to pair. I have this issue currently...

no radio - no GSM service. bootloader unlocked

1.) PHONE ORIGINALLY LOCKED TO SPRINT
so i bougt this phone second hand in Europe. The phone had a bad screen and possibly some other damage i don't know about. Anyway, it turned out that the phone was locked to Sprint and i could not use it with my sim-card.
2.) PAID A GUY ON EBAY
https://www.ebay.com/itm/SPRINT-SIM...M-G710PM-CONVERT-TO-UNLOCKED-G7-/302468495217
I paid that guy (i do believe that he is also a member of the XDA community) and he ensured me that the phone was now unlocked and that i could use it with my sim-card. Under settings - hardware info it said model number was G710VM (or VMP or VMW, i don't remember exactly, but it was verizon wireless). the problem was that my phone still could not connect to the network. also, hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* was not accessible. Moreover, wi-fi connectivity was... mixed bag. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not work.
(in case the link is dead - he used octoplus to do the thing he did)
(he probably participated in this discussion: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/help/lg-g7-sprint-unlock-t3823449)
3.) UPDATE TO PIE
https://www.****************/2019/06/17/download-and-install-lg-g7-android-9-pie-via-kdz-firmware/
After following these steps to get the Pie update (which i hoped would be the solution to my problems). Phone now reported it was G710ULM. Also, on lock screen in the top left corner it said 'No service - Mobitel'. Mobitel is the service provider here, so i was kinda hopeful, since it seemed that the phone can detect the network, but cannot connect. Hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* was accesible, but it only helped with my wi-fi connection. The 'select radio band' always reports 'selection unsuccessful'. I still could not set network manually or automatically for that matter (always error when i tried). I also tried the 10f firmware (oreo) and some others, but no luck. after i unlocked the bootloader i also performed the 'erase modemst1 modemst2' commands before flashing a new firmware but that also did not help.
(in case the link is dead - basically flashing firmware via LGUP)
4.) UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/how-to-bootloader-unlock-g7-thinq-t-t3963568
So this is where it is at at the moment. I followed this steps and now it reports product name LM-V350ULM and 'device state - unlocked' in the bootloader. If i boot it into recovery mode i just get the dead android with the red warning sign and 'no command' written under it. The device could access internet via wi-fi... until i put in the simcard. Now it cannot see the network anymore. If i repeat the command 'fastboot boot 710ULM11g_rootedboot.img' i get wifi back.
5.) THE POINT BEING?
Yeah. the point of this thread is obviously - what can i do to get the network?
This is my first android phone and yeah, quite the introduction to the android world that is.
Obviously i can (hardly, but i can) follow these step-by-step instructions, but apart from that, i have no idea what to do or how to do it. So yeah, this phone is pretty much just a wifi machine unless someone can help me.
I did unlocked my bootloader following this tutorial
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/how-to-bootloader-unlock-g7-thinq-t-t3963568
Why is your device showing V350ULM (that is U.S. Unlocked V35 Thinq)? Reflash G7 pie firmware from Europe and access #*#*4636*#*# and change the network to GSM/WCDMA/LTE and check if it picks up the network.

it's showing V350ULM because i unlocked the bootloader via the method described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/how-to-bootloader-unlock-g7-thinq-t-t3963568
there is no other known method to unlock the bootloader on any LG G7 thinq except for the european version.
If i reflash the G7 pie firmware my bootloader gets locked again. I know because i already did that. While I had that firmware i also dialed *#*#4636#*#*, but when i change the network nothing really happens. If i choose the 'select radio band' sub-menu i always get the 'unsuccessful' message no matter which band i choose.

I unlocked my bootloader using the same method and it will not lock bootloader if you flash pie firmware (once it's unlocked it's unlocked). And my G7 is showing as G710ULM not V350ULM (using the same method to cross flash firmwares). Make sure to flash European pie firmware.

after bricking the phone i had to use MSM tool linked on XDA. the problem is after the process ended my phone is not the same. it used to be LE2125.
now it's LE2120. and OEM unlock option is greyed out, so i cant unlock the bootloader. on the same option, it tells me to use network or contact the carrier, the first one doesnt work and dont know what the last one means, this phone was bought third-hand. is there any way i can solve this so i can install LineageOS?

Hey bud, I'm almost sure you don't have a sim in it, insert a sim card for the phone to be able to check if it's blocked by your carrier, even though it's unlocked, I have the same phone( Chinese version) and everytime that's what I need to do after msm back to stock. Stay safe.

How should I move to an unbranded global ROM?

I'm trying to root and update my friends T-Mobile 7T (HD1907) to the most recent generic ROM. She's leaving the country and has no need or desire to keep the T-Mobile branding, and getting on a generic ROM seems like it will allow for faster updates.
I've seen some threads that look like they might help, but having had issues in the past with other attempts on other phones, I know that one little oversight can cause HOURS of frustration.
So I figured I'd ask first and try to save the drama this time.
Where can I get the correct ROM to do what I want on this phone?
I have TWRP installed and have rooted with Magisk.
Current build # is 10.0.3 HD63CB
Carrier configuration version is 2.370001
I appreciate any help on this, thanks!

[CLOSED] T-Mobile 7T Conversion to International WITHOUT unlocked bootloader/SIM unlock!

The key is to force reboot into bootloader mode when u get stuck on pink T-Mobile bootscreen after first "flash-all" script so u can repeat this "flash-all" second try which will then work.
Thanks for that. I managed to unlock the bootloader and update to Oxygen OS 11.0.7.1.HD65AA, which I believe is the most recent global ROM.
The model of the phone still shows HD1907, which I thought should change from the T-Mobile model to the global model in this process, but perhaps this is normal.
Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm a bit concerned it won't update properly if its not entirely "converted" to the global model.
I did the same. All working fine though. It brought me unlocked bootloader to flash the dual sim firmware or global. All works. Only concern I have is ..The unlock bootloader ticker in dev options shows greyed out "Already Unlocked" but, the ticker is in the off position to the left which is odd. My friends was done by token but mine using patched boot msm. Any reason to be concerned ? Perhaps that's going to hinder the re lock and possible re unlock ?

How To Guide LE2127 TMobile To EU One Click

Some quick tips what I did to my new OP9 Pro Tmob LE2127 on CE22 firmware here in Canada! Picked the phone up a few days ago and loved it right away but hated all the Tmob crap they installed. Tried converting with the Fastboot method and managed to brick the phone as I'm running Linux and its a little more tricky if your not a Linux pro! It unbricked very easily with the MSM back to Tmob tool and an old laptop on Windoz 10. Make sure setup the HUSB Qualcomm drivers properly! Than some reading and realized you can only go from TMob to EU rom with the MSM tool. Tried that worked perfectly the first time did all the subsequent OTA updates all the way to the current Oxygen OS 13 & Android 13 and its working perfectly. At first there were some weird SIM modem dropping and data issues but as I upgraded to newer versions of Oxygen it cleared it self up. Still says two sims in the mobile network area but identifies them correctly also the phone identifies as a LE2123 now! I also didnt unlock my bootloader but I did get an unlock.bin just incase that process took only overnight, I submitted and recieved the Unlock Bin the next morning it shows up in your One Plus account and you download it! Hope that helps some one out and issues I will report back! Phone is very smooth now!

I'm on the fence about that right now the phone is running really smooth and fast I will give it a few days see how it goes!
I received (another and hopefully final) my op9pro the other day. Powered it up and noticed the OEM unlock was in blue and it still is after updating to the latest version. T-Mobile is giving me a hard time on getting my SIM unlocked. Probably because I bought it from Amazon. Want to attempt but I have seemed to have forgotten if root is still achievable with Sim being locked. Sorry been away for a year, you know iphone things.(throws up in mouth). Good phones though for battery life
If anyone has a locked sim, converted and rooted, please do tell if it is possible I don't need the steps, just confirmation that it works. Thanks

It's 100% sure, possible. I immediately converted my 9pro to Eu on day 1, while sim locked. I bypassed the toggle with a tool in the forum but there's also an adb command available for making the oem unlock toggle work.
This includes root and unlocked bootloader while sim locked.
The thing to be aware of is, the T-Mobile variants have a different bootloader unlock process vs non carrier variants. You submit an unlock token to OnePlus and get an unlock bin back, then flash that bin. Lately, people have been reporting the site is broken and they're using support email/chat to submit and get the token. However, this different process can also be bypassed:
Right after you do the Tmo->Eu msm conversion, it's advised to unlock the bootloader on Android 11. Android 11 on Eu will not need the unlock.bin to unlock the bootloader. But it is needed for later versions so if you want bootloader unlocked, do it right after conversion while still on A11.
The "problem" is, once you do this, if you want to sim unlock the phone later, you have to go back to stock Tmo firmware with the stock Tmo MSM tool, as the built in unlocker is not in Eu or other variants. Which means you will have to wipe data later whenever you want to get it unlocked.
it took me 6 Agents at Tmo chat support to finally get the unlock handled properly. One agent asked me to submit my proof of purchase and I did but they couldn't figure out how to unlock it because of the imei starting with 99 and they only know how to unlock imei starting with 35. Thankfully someone else did know how and they got it sorted after a week or so. Some agents told me it needs to be on the network for 40 days, some said they can't do it because I didn't buy it from T-Mobile, some said I need to wait longer. None were true. I told them I'm a developer and needed to unlock my bootloader to test things for my job.
Here's a link to the tool I used for making the oem unlock toggle work despite sim lock: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ader-unlock-enabler-engineer-decrypt.4380419/

I'm sure its possible. If someone wants to get you up and running. But honestly, it's better to learn it yourself in case something happens and you end up without a phone cause you didn't want to learn. It seems rough but once you get it you're golden bro. Tough it out and smash them wires in the phone/computer, and open a terminal and tap away at the keyboard. If all else fails, slap the phone and)or computer around and show em who's boss
I personally had to go to AA as BA/EU was giving me a nightmare of a time with data
Just an update on my 2127 Tmob to 2123 EU conversion! Its working flawless guys I didnt bother unlocking the bootloader when I did the conversion even though I do have the unlock bin. It only took overnight to get the unlock bin this was a few weeks ago! The phone now is working really good everything is flawless still on a locked boot loader which is fine its working smooth and taking updates another OTA update came today! Running A13 Oos 13 LE2123_11_F74.
Which version of MSM tool is best for this conversion?

Yes everything is working good!
Question:
1.Enabling dual sim will add another IMEI to the device, so the original IMEI is duplicated or you get a new IMEI for it? In my country duplicate IMEI's aren't allowed hence asking
2. I remember there was a dual sim patch for OP8T and there were rumors of losing dual sim capability after update is that the same here?
