Hi all, I'm considering buying the s22, as I like the design and compact size compared to pixel 7. I hate oneUI though, what are the chances that s22 will get a daily driver-level stock android ROM? I see that GSI ROMs have quite some bugs, and can't be used as daily drivers. I also see that S21 still doesn't have stock android ROMS, which makes me feel that S22 is also unlikely to get one sadly

just as a curious
is it possible or is there any , who port S8+ rom to pixel xl ?
It's possible to port some apps/features but it's complicated to port the whole rom. I don't even think there are a lot of people that would love to run a Samsung rom on a pixel tbh as the software is one of the main features of the pixel.
I think its easier and with more luck to get an s8 and hope for aosp (us model), exynos model is probably gonna get aosp anyway
Lol I got the pixel to not have a overly themed, slow UI like suckwiz
Would it be possible for someone to port a MIUI ROM to our S9?
Same hope here. Miui 9 was amazingly fluid and good looking cant imagine miui 10. There is a thread over in the project treble forums but it seems like they're running into problems.
galaxy s9 as well... for those of you will say buy a xiomi device, or that Samsung experience is better... it's just a personal preference... I prefer the mi ui
Any chance to get MIUI on S9? really want to have it
why there are no more ports of miui for Samsung devices?
I think they stopped doing this stuff a whyl ago I remember the days when there was loads of roms to throw on ur phone now u dont even need to root these days
Hello guys
Sorry for the long question.
I am very confused these days, i sold Redmi Note 7 some days ago but now i don't understand that what device is perfect for me in my low budget. I have some devices in my mind:
1. Pocophone F1
2. Realme 3 Pro
3. OnePlus 5T
What i need:
I really like to install different roms on my deivce, occasionally gaming and most of the time watching movies etc.
Why i am not able to decide ?
1. Pocophone F1
Big notch taking over 70% of status bar. Heard / saw different threads claiming that the devices has touch screen / hardware issues.
2. Realme 3 Pro
Realme 5 Pro also available around the world but not in Pakistan. In Pakistan only option so far is Realme 3 Pro. Overall phone seems to be a good deal. But there is no Android development.
3. OnePlus 5T
This device is my most favorite device. Do you guys recommend me to buy 5T in 2019? and i also want to now, that is there any common hardware related issues to check for before buying?
Looking for response from you guys.
Plenty of ROM support and easy methodology to tamper, if you aren't a fan of OOS which is quite good anyway. Updates are still being released quite frequently through the beta.
Bought mine on release, coming up on 2 years ago now. Only complaints I have hardware wise:
-charging port can be finicky, but I need to clean it.
-camera is very average (but GCam mod with root + camera library dot fix performs very well)
I don't see myself getting a different phone for at LEAST another year and a bit. Take of that what you will.
I bought oneplus 5t 2 weeks a ago and i would say buy the damn phone you won't regret it, previously i was using samsung a50 but was not satisfied with the performance, oneplus 5t is blazing fast, go for it
Good phone but two things that suck
Vibration motor is horrible. It's so weak that I can't even hear it most of the time
Camera quality out of the box is just average
This two things didn't seem to be important to me in the past but you do notice the difference after using the phone for 2 years
In my opinion 5T is still beast but official beta support had dropped
Not that much custom ROMs available (many maintainers and developers switched to op6 or higher models)
Better try to buy op6or6T
Although open beta has been stripped for the 5t I'm still more than happy with my 5t. I even prefer OOS over the custom ROMs because it's really fast, stable and the gesture control kicks ass and is way better than that Google thing. Plus have in mind that OP already confirmed Android q. It may take a while but for now OP is still going strong with security patches. As long the battery is fine so am I.
Dear all,
I have removed some off topic posts from this thread. Please post with manners and contribute to the discussion. Thanks.

The Pocophone has larger battery and an IR scanner which is amazing for face recognition. But the screen is not good as 5T's.
Oxygen OS is probably the best out there. It is light and so fast and allows so many customizations. I bet you won't be bothered with custom ROMs!
Snapdragons 835 and 845 don't differ much either.
I'd go for the 5T if I found both at similar price.
Hi dev,
Why aren't there many custom ROMs for samsung s20+ Exynos or s20 series devices?
I feel oxygen os 11 would look great on s20 series devices.
Is there any component of device causing no custom ROM development?
Well... I had an exynos Note 10+ and the development for that phone was pitiful and was why I sold the phone. Thinking of buying an S20+ but only if I see some active development or at least plans
Well as phones ar getting more expensive and rooting less viable, I really don't see a bright future for custom rom development on future samsung phones.

Agree, valid reasons for rooting are evaporating. With app based options offering solutions and Samsung making it more and more challenging it's hard to justify. Especially when one considers the prices for a top shelf device and a very real possibility you'll brick your smartphone. Firmware and CSC's are much more complex than 5 or 10 years back, it's not like the good old days when rooting was more straight forward. With that being stated much of the push for rooting comes from users who fail to investigate which device is best suited for their needs, even within the same model line.

Buy an OP phone if you like that, the S20`s have different hardware so most likely not possible.
I've noticed with the last Galaxy S devices that there is so little of custom rom, while OnePlus, Oppo, Xiaomi, Huawei always have a lot of ROMs
Can someone explain me why?

You have some GSI and a sGSI
But yeah custom roms on Samsung seems to be rare
